Somewhere

I took one for the team and blindly bought this fragrance- It sounded right up my alley. I ordered the sprayable version of the perfume from Bergdorf Goodman. The bottle is very sturdy- it's heavy, including the cap (it is very satisfying to remove the cap, they did not skimp out on materials). As for the scent, it is quite unique. I don't think I've smelled anything like this before and I have smelled a lot of fragrances. It opened up very fresh and citrusy, then soon after I smelled what I would describe as cumin on my skin, and it was a pretty intense cumin, bordering on BO (this may be the musk portion of the scent). Thankfully that dissipated after about 10 minutes, and now I feel this is a quite close to the skin scent, I can smell the neroli, and it is quite woody. I'm very curious what my boyfriend will say about it once he smells it later today. I am unsure about longevity but will report back once I have more to talk about there. So far, I do like the fragrance, it is not love but it may grow more on me. I do appreciate that it is quite unique. Edit: It has now been a few days since owning this and it really has grown on me. The smell left behind on my shirt and jacket from the day before is just fantastic- Such a pleasant neroli-prominent floral which is not too strong, it feels tropical without being beachy. On the skin, the scent lasts about 12 hours or so, and the end result is a gentle woody floral. Not sure about silage- I do know that when the wind was blowing outside, I would get wafts of the scent and I really enjoyed that. I did not receive any comments or compliments from my boyfriend, however I will have to do an "in public" test to see what happens then, if anything. Edit again, months later: I think that I was pretending that I loved it because of how expensive it was. No matter what I did, I just kept picking up on the cumin smell. It did not smell that way on clothing, but on my skin, the cumin note would pop up periodically throughout the day. Oh, also, it was not liked by anyone who I asked to smell it. Sad.

When I smelled this on paper, the cumin didn’t really stick out to me, I didn’t even know it was there (I had already smelled a good amount of perfume that day though too). I thought this was going to be a new favorite of mine on that first sniff or two. Thankfully I didn’t buy it on the spot even though I loved it. When I tested this on skin, the cumin was exceptionally prominent— like I had taken my jar of cumin seeds and rubbed them all over myself. It ruined an otherwise amazing perfume for me. I’m so sad at what this could have been. If there was no cumin note in this I would’ve bought it.

Oh, boy! Somewhere keeps growing on me, but I still don't have a full bottle. At first I thought this was pretty simple. Nice citrus opening, some neroli, done. Almost dismissed it. ButI I've been sitting with couple of my samples for a while now and there's a lot going on here. The citrus is just the door — behind it there's my favorite galbanum doing this bitter green thing, then orange flower and jasmine, then orris cooling everything down, the complexity is overwhelming but also exciting. The base is a proper mossy chypre. Brutal oak moss, vetiver, patchouli. It keeps shifting between green, citrus and floral and I honestly can't decide which facet is the main one. Maybe that's the point? In fact this is my second love from Constance Georges-Picot after 1272, and both live in the same citrus-green territory I've been obsessing about lately. I'm watching you!

I get a lot of citrus notes from this scent, the jasmine and orange flower are also perceptible. The cumin is minimal, actually I didn't notice it until I looked for it. It also has another fruit note that is not mentioned in the notes pyramid, maybe papaya or guava? I am going trough the discovery set and this one has been nice on my skin. I don't have any plans to buy a full bottle but I do think it is a nice scent.

this smells so horrible, from start to finish. the cumin scent makes it smell like armpits regardless of the other ingredients added. the whole line is inspired by LA, perhaps this is supposed to pay an ode to the homeless issue there. Def not worth the $450
