Rain Cloud

I smelled this in a perfume store as I was waiting for the attendant to ring me up for something else and I was SO taken with this dewy, humid, tropical garden I almost yelled: "Wait! I need this one instead!" But I do my best NOT to buy perfumes from first impressions because we all know how dramatically things can evolve (or devolve) so I did the sensible thing and asked for a sample so I could really get to know this beautiful gem. I've fallen pretty hard for Rain Cloud: it's meant to smell like a garden after the rain, and magician that she is, Lyn Harris crafted the most realistic feeling of dark, heavy clouds looming over just saturated petals of ylang ylang, jasmine, iris and orange blossom. The vanilla is definitely detectable and provides a lovely smoothness to this ride, lingering into the dry down. I heard someone describe this as "waxy" and I'd agree - it's so creamy, smooth, luscious and incredibly realistic smelling. Rain Cloud is a rather quiet scent and doesn't project a lot but lingers nicely for a few good hours. This is one of those perfumes that reminds you of the incredible artistry that can happen when a perfumer has the freedom to create from their heart. BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I really like this! I'm considering purchasing a full bottle but I need to test it once again since I'm not sure yet. It seems that on my skin it doesn't have that much of projection and longevity is around 4 hours. I don't have any ylang ylang perfume in my collection since I was never into that note even though it's really comforting scent so hopefully this will be my first ylang-yalng perfume. Also I was curious to read some of reviews here but there is not many of them 🤔 In terms of the smell this is ylang ylang mixed with white flowers (prob jasmine and lily) and it’s really soft and subtle. Also there is slightly bitterness that comes from green angelica. If I try hard I can smell that humid tropical air mixed with the beautiful flowers smell just before it rains but it's not the first picture that comes to my mind while I'm smelling this perfume. Also I'm a little bit baffled if I like this perfume because of that story what this perfume represents or I really like this scent. It's not a cheap one so I need more testing for sure. 🤑 UPDATE: I bought the bottle of Rain Cloud. Could not stop thinking of it. Also this perfume reminds me strongly of black locust flower scent🥰 10/10

Fragrance concepts are deserving of more poetic license, if you will. Realism can be a joy in perfume, but surrealism can be a real pleasure. Rain Cloud is not a literal transcription of an atmospheric condition, but more an impressionistic landscape of that which has been touched by precipitation and humidity. Water holds scent, and those raindrops splashing onto the flowers of the garden during a shower—that's what I feel here. The dampening of surfaces, the lush saturation; its somewhere between temperate and tropical, a low barometer and a high tenor. The orange blossom blurs into concord grape—that delicious, quenching Methyl Anthranilate; it seems highly dosed here, to the point where it almost reaches the verge of musty, and divinely so. It's as if it shapes the immediate dampening of dusty surfaces and inert soils. It also reminds me of black locust blooms in the wind. Ylang ylang seemed destined to be part of an ode to rain, and here, its thick custard overripe delicious flesh is perfect. The dry down is like wilted jasmine in the breeze, waxy-flower-petal foggy musk and vanilla crème. Here's to another brilliant stroke of artistry from Lyn Harris.

I had a chance to smell this at Somerset House in London after the (fabulous and mind-bending) fragrance exhibition currently on there. Rain Cloud is a divine concoction - I could dive in and go for a swim if it didn't cost quite so much for a little brown bottle. It more than held its own after an afternoon of smelling some of the most exciting perfumes around.

Wish it came in the cool bottle shown above. Got some generic bottle. Bought this at a very niche clothing store in Los Angeles, hidden down a hallway lined with glass at the back of a small coffeeshop. I felt like I needed to buy something, so I bought this. I wear this when it's raining or overcast. Perfect for the weather.

Just wanted to make quick note that out of all purchases I made in 2024 year (30+samples) and 11 full bottles perfume Rain Cloud was my favorite perfume investment.

I still can't forget this smell, i wish i could easily spend half of my rent for a parfume because it is stuck in my head. Addictive smell.

Gentle, musky, powdery, cozy, smooth. Perfect for an overcast day.

It's beautiful but I don't get the humidity that others are getting. Back in the early 90s I wore Anais Anais - it made me feel grown up. Grown ups wear florals, I thought. The bottle looked so French and the vibe was glamourous. I get that same vibe from Rain Cloud. The floral profile is not screechy like Anais Anais - but it is definitely similar. Because that feels like a scent profile I've gladly left behind, I can't wear Rain Cloud. But I can appreciate it's floral beauty.

Rain Cloud is a long-lasting, fairly linear but sophisticated, semi-sweet creamy musk scent. There's musky angelica and a high quality white musk in the base making this too much of a festival of musk for me. Others will enjoy this kind of thing more. There's a well-placed, soft, banana-ish ylang-ylang — divine! — and a hint of vanilla in the base. The other florals don’t feature as prominently. Beautifully composed and worth sampling for fans of the primary notes.

A citrus perfume with a watery accord. I have DS & Durga Steamed Rainbow which is in the same genre. I like this one more than the other one lol. Steamed Rainbow is just more in your face, like the juices of the citrus. Rain Cloud is more airy and subtle. Honestly when Steamed Rainbow runs out, I will buy this one in its place.

Very nice. A little old school ylang-ylang, rough on the drydown, balanced with orange blossom, and definitely with a little bit of jasmine somewhere. More musky than powdery to my nose (or a very 80s, Paris-like powder), and I think the vetiver is very light. A classic nicely remodeled.

Lovely smell ! Wish rain really smelled like this ! hehe Not an aquatic fragrance at all... a rather sweet, smooth floral scent instead

If you're rich enough to have this as a room spray then great because as nice as it smells, I just can't imagine a person wearing this

A nice musky floral but sadly rain and wet notes often read "soggy" on me and that is the case here. The orange blossom and white florals are quite pronounced throughout the fragrance, and the ylang ylang reads more tropical/wet than banana candy here. There are some notes missing from this pyramid, including jasmine, cassis, iris and amber. I'm surprised there is no water lily. From the website: "A rain cloud accord of ylang ylang absolute Reunion Island, vetiver, angelica grain and vanilla bourbon fused with a fresh garden bouquet of jasmin Egypt, orange flower Tunisia and cassie France resting on a base of iris absolute China, amber and white musks to create a true olfactory landscape." Similar DNA to Suede from the same line, though that one is sharp versus soggy. I feel neutral on that one too.

I’m just reminded of my mother kissing me goodnight before she’d head off to go to work for a night shift at the hospital. Then I saw someone suggested it smells similar to Anais Anais. Nope from me.

I was expecting a watery or rain scent hence the name rain cloud but it was a weak green vanilla fragrance just keep your money bruh

powdery and comforting florals but unfortunately i do get old lady vibes from this

I really don’t like it, the opening reminds me of: 4711 Original Eau de Cologne, and I really dislike that smell. after that it gets worse, stale urinoir, musky flowers, smells eighties oldschool. 😖 I’ll skip this one!

Juicy citruses and sweet flowers! I can feel lots of bergamot, lemon and some yuzu notes mixed with orange blossom and clean musks. Very well balanced scent with great performance. Base is much sweeter and floral, but the transition is very smooth. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

Funny how opinions differ in this hobby. I love this house, and I find the scents very evocative and intriguing. But this was probably the least impressive one I smelled at store and wore on skin. I see glowing reviews, so I'm going to need to test it further.

Beautifully tropical and transparent ylang yang floral. Would make a sublime Spring and Summer fragrance.
