Rain Wood

I finished my quest of findind the perfect niche petrichor unisex fragrance (without vetiver) and my search ended with two winners: 1. Parfumer H - Rain Wood - 10/10 (more character) Thick and humid forest in summer after summer rain. A lot of wood and leaf. Very refreshing and forest-like smell. 2. Le Labo - Baie 19 - 9/10 (more “watery”) Also petrichor, but in a more open space- and more aquatic leaning. Imagine grass fields with small rivers all around. The smell is the river. Both fragrances are very unisex, not offensive, office friendly and refreshing. In both cases, the projection and silleage are not the strongest, but they shouldn’t be as this type of smell would be overwhelming if it was stronger.

A woodland walk at dusk after rain. Soft grey skies overhead and humidity in the air. This is a perfume that summons nature and moments of quiet calm and reflection. Some scents are so beautiful they can almost break your heart, Rain Wood has that delicate melancholy quality for me. Built around a central core of juniper and cedar wood with patchouli, it opens with a watery petrichor note and there's a faint water lily in there too. Greenness and lift comes from the galbanum and the pepper. Everything is restrained and harmonious. Rain Wood is something you would wear for yourself at a quiet time of day, perhaps as the daylight fades. A real moment of beauty. A masterpiece and my favourite from Perfumer H.

There are scents that whisper, others that sing—but this woody fragrance speaks. Not in a language of words, but in an ancient dialect of earth, bark, and moss. From the first inhalation, it casts a spell—a mist of smouldering cedar and angelica unfurling like the pages of an old, leather-bound novel. The opening is unexpectedly subtle: a gentle waft of crushed pine needles softened by the resinous Galbanum It evokes a forest at twilight, where the trees seem to lean closer, exhaling their secrets. As it settles, green, and impossibly smooth—like moss clinging to a rain-darkened stone. It's in this moment the scent becomes truly alive: enigmatic, meditative, utterly grounding.

I love petrichor scents, and this is without question one of the best out there. It truly does smell like forest after the rain in the most meditative way, it's surprising how calming it can be! That said, it breaks my heart how fleeting this fragrance is. I feel like I cannot smell it after a half hour. I'll catch small whiffs, but that's all. Baie 19 by Le Labo is probably the only other petrichor scent I would say is a contender for quality of the fragrance and luxury of the smell, and it does last a bit longer than Rain Wood, although Rain Wood captures more of the forest essence while Baie 19 is an otherworldly petrichor that is hard to describe.

This is gorgeous and extremely "realistic". It smells like the forest after a heavy rain. Great blending, nothing synthetic stands out, all very natural. I love the smell but the performance is terrible: soft to medium projection for about an hour, then dies down to a skin scent. Last for about 4-5 hours. I'd gladly buy it if it were cheaper, but it's super expensive for this kind of performance. 10/10 scent, 3/10 performance.

As its name suggests, "rain wood" evokes the sensation of entering a forest after it has rained. The air is filled with the dampness left by the raindrops, mixed with the phytoncides of nature. You can almost feel the wet moss and earthy soil underfoot. This scent is suitable for all seasons and especially rainy days. Its slightly linear fragrance instantly transports you to the atmosphere of a forest after the rain.

Constantly searching for the best petrichor scents and this one does smell absolutely beautiful (this scent tickles my caveman/survival evolution neurons in a very good way...) for about 30 minutes then fades into practically nothing, less than what i would normally consider as a "skin scent", super disappointing considering its prohibitively expensive and the performance is just abysmal, it's unfortunate :(

Rain Wood is aptly named. It opens with the smell of wet mossy wood and the earthiness of a damp forest floor after heavy rainfall. Twelve hours after spraying it on my skin, I can still smell what I think is myrrh and the wood feels more distant now, but it's still there. This fragrance is very calming.

First Impression: it's quite literally, rain (petrichor/ozone) and wood. Wet wood, but not rotted. Lyn Harris is a talented perfumer to pull this off with more vivid realism than others who have tried to capture this headspace.

This is so beautiful- smells like a memory of quiet walk after the rain. It’s so gloriously woody, calming and brings forward a contentedness. It is a gem and genius fragrance. I am so glad this came into my life.

the opening reminded me of putting up a Christmas tree, i’d prefer if i had less of that association, in favour of a more general forest smell, but that’s probably a more personal thing. as it develops, there’s a lovely moist mossy smell that comes through, gradually dries into a smooth woody smell, that’s not so unique, but pleasant, and there’s still some coniferous tree flavour left.

You could wear this perfume during forest walk and it would not be disturbing. The opening is about juniper and is very fresh, resinous. Maybe too much, on my oponion. With the base notes scent starts sweeten and become a bit dewy-floral. It is a mild, pleasant perfume. Nothing extra complicated, ideal for silent meditation. --- Projection moderate, lasts about 3 hrs.

This started off as petrichore on me - quite literally ‘rain’ ‘wood’. I adored it. After fifteen minutes of walking around on a moderately warm day, this began to smell like warm mown grass, which is not an inherently bad smell, but not what I looking for. I look forward to trying this in cooler weather!

i always think i’ll love these kind of scents they are right up my alley but i never experience them as natural smelling. to me this has this a strong synthetic powdery note that i can’t get passed

Opens up realistic wet rain, slightly dark, green, lightly pines. Think Memoir man but then carries on a different forest rainy path. Really love the Perfumer H theme approaches, makes for a straight up art performance wearing perfume.

This was the fragrance that basically got me into niche perfume. I’m still chasing the idea of smelling like a forest after rain. This got close though
