Steam

A diffuse floral tea perfume with a base of creamy woods. Intensive green tea, seemingly steaming in the cup, sweetened with magnolia and mignonette, accented with coriander, birch tar smoke and mandarin. Juniper, light pepper and cedar in the base. Very much in the reflective and naturalistic style of the house, this is a calming spa-style scent elevated by its floral notes into something more complex and addicitve. My favourite of their recent releases.

This is probably the most unique tea fragrance I’ve ever smelled. It truly smells like morning mist over a forest, combined with smoke from chimneys. It evokes feelings of nostalgia in me. Perfumer H uses very high-quality ingredients in their perfumes, all the accords are blended together perfectly, without any synthetic nuances.

"Inspired by the mist rolling over the mysterious hills of an ancient tree forest in the early morning" Yes but that herbaceous, humid and green mist/fog also has a smell of burning wood so I would say the fog is contaminated a little bit with "pollution" from nearby houses that are burning the wood on that particular cold morning. Those promotional pictures (so beautiful) are perfect how this perfume smells like just one wooden house is missing from it with the white smoke coming out of chimney. Also this one would align perfectly in Aesop collection of perfumes.

Just bought a tester and I didn’t expect this to be a tea perfume. But I’ve been looking for lightly smokey tea fragrance for some time now and this is the best so far. Not too sweet, rather fresh. Really reminds me of Russian Tea by Masque Milano but without the annoying raspberry. Will try a few more times cause it might be a bit to floral for me. Very interesting composition tho!

Reseda and Magnolia are missing from the notes pyramid

Soggy barbeque smoke and an initial petrichor note. Some aromatics and typical perfume "tea" note that smells nothing like real tea but is instead a vague and delicate green. Only bits of spice and orange on my skin. Very unique and strange. Leans masculine IMO. A rare spring/fall fragrance that captures transitional weather. It does shift to be softer, but still has a slight funky damp aspect to it that is evocative of a sauna. It doesn't smell sterile, like steam from hot water. It is as if you put out a campfire with lake water. Then it fades away and is gone midday. Whenever I wear it, I don't like it initially. But then it settles and becomes something pleasant. I wish it didn't have the initial bbq note.

I liked this perfume on the blotter, but once I tried it on my skin, the main notes I could smell were the mandarin, the juniper and the cedar. To me, it evokes the cedar blocks my mother puts in her wardrobe. Clean linen with a woodsy scent. There's a citrussy note too, maybe the juniper, that lingers throughout the drydown. It is not unpleasant, but I would rather use this as a home fragrance than something to wear on my skin.

Tea and birch pairing is nice. That's mostly what I'm getting from it. Smoky tea scent where the opening 30 seconds feels most impressive with an airy-hot (probably the black pepper), slightly aqueous juniper aroma lending to a steam effect. The birch tar goes towards bbq aromas very easily here though so I'm not liking it as much as I thought. I'll give it a wear but I don't think steam as a name is very fitting tbh. Smoke or earth or something makes more sense but I think they already have multiple instances of those haha. This is not a molecular translucent watery thing. More like a brew of lapsang souchong. Again kinda nice but feels a little to simplistically birch forward. Don't get any plum, and only a little humid-green, slightly musky coriander effect possibly.
