Jasmin De Pays

Oh, My Lord, I've found my all-time favorite jasmine fragrance. I asked the question on Rogue Perfumery's Jasmin Antique page if that was the jasmine fragrance to end all jasmine fragrances? Well, that might not have been for me, (though I did find it pretty darn close), but this most certainly is. Skanky? Oh, yes. but not as indolic as JA or Lush Lust. I also found Madagascan Jasmine beautiful, which some here have compared this too in the this reminds me section, but that wasn't a true jasmine to me. But this? This? - This is JASMINE. This is Jasmine with a capital J! All the other notes are barely perceptible and there just to showcase that sulty, luscious, and intoxicating flower. This is Jasmine at its most potent and lush. There is nothing excessively green here. Nor does it have any of the rubber tire, gasoline, super heavy indoles, or other negative attributes (looking at you Lush Lust), that some jasmine perfumes have. No, this smells as if they crammed big fat jasmine blossoms picked at their most sweet, potent, and ripe into this bottle. There is no doubt that this is loaded with pure Jasmine absolutes, as the quality is apparent, as is the mastery. Jean-Claude Ellena certainly outdid himself with this one. Every waft has me catching my breath and my eyes rolling back in my head in ecstasy, as I'm thinking, “Oh, God, this must be what heaven smells like” – with a little dash of hell to shake things up. Whatever you do, DO NOT let any negative reviews scare you away from this one. Though it starts out strong, within an hour goes down to a more discreet, though still very noticeable level. If you are a jasmine lover as I am, you have no idea what you are missing not to try this. I'll wager even a blind buy is a safe bet. Believe me, I just know you are going to adore this as much as I do right now. It is hands down the best jasmine perfume I've ever smelled, and I've smelled quite a few, including the holy grail SL's A La Nuit. To me, this is the Queen whose beauty is beyond compare.

This is... not jasmine. Or at least not the jasmine im familiar with (jasminum polyanthum, the ones that grow all over the Mediterranean). So i must say im disappointed in that regard. But? Its still photorealistic. It reminds me of another white flower but i cant put the name on which one it is. I’d say its more gardenia esque since it has a green and funky edge. But its not creamy really. The indoles are handled perfectly. They dont feel like a seperate part of the flower, they feel integral to the flower note itself and it contributes to realism. Its perfectly animalic. Its rubbery like a tuberose is, a bit waxy, polleny and clove-y like lilies. Yet i dont find this vaguely floral. Its definitely SOMETHING REAL but i truly cannot remember which one. Nowhere near the vague clean white florals of modern perfumes. So im not disappointed in the perfume as a whole. I love it. Its powerful and realistic, not too sharp and synthetic on the greens and overall a wonderful composition. So i’ll give it a 9/10. It deserves that. Perfect for hot summer days (i dont believe in fresh citruses). Sillage is wafting like a real flower, you cant keep smelling it continuously but you will catch strong breezes of it. Performs like a real flower too, the closer u get to the scent the more sweet and floral it gets. From afar its more realistic. Does that make sense? A jasmine doesnt smell the same from afar and up close either. Dont buy if you’re looking for a realistic Mediterranean jasmine and arent open for a different smell. But still recommended nonetheless Edit: OMG ITS A VIBURNUM! It smells like an extremely realistic viburnum scent! Wow that is impressive. Whenever i smelled those in march i thought to myself ‘i wonder if there is a perfume like this’. Turns out it’s jasmin de pays. Thats really gorgeous and unique. Im specifically referring to Viburnum x carlcephalum.

Jasmine de Pays is a jasmine for true blue lovers of this King of Flowers. There are many perfumes with decidedly wishy-washy, hedione-vague jasmine accords so that smelling Jasmin de Pays may shock noses not used to such articulated realism. Ellena imparts the voluptuous nature of fecund jasmine blooms, bubbling over and almost too much to bear—delirious rapture. Be still my beating heart—I have long searched for a Dragon Pearl jasmine in perfume, and I have finally found it through Jasmin de Pays. But it by no means stops here. Tagetes marigold sweetens and sharpens, serving as an exclamation point to a jasmine that quickly reveals that bittersweet decay is imminent. It exhales "I have lived" (to use the words of my friend Sebastian Furtado). These flowers have just a bit more energy stored, allowing all manner of pollinating organisms to buzz and bump until they have more to give. Ripe indoles do not overpower here—they are seductive, but not necessarily lewd. Jasmine de Pays feels as if it takes through the arc of the flowers' lives: from fresh and sprightly, green and sweet, to their full and bursting maturity, and then their fermenting, narcotic finality. When reaching the "past its prime" stage it feels so real that I can visualize the brown spots and withering, wrinkled edges of each tender petal in my mind. Jasmin de Pays is simply awe-inspiring.

The jury is out on this one. I could have sworn I tested this once, because I had it marked as a "love", but when I sprayed on my brand new, just delivered bottle, I was shocked. All I could smell was cloves. The slightest bit of indole was under the surface, but I couldn't find a single trace of my beloved jasmine beyond that. I waited and waited, and eventually I could smell some of the jasmine surrounding me, but clove remained dominant. I've had it on for about 2 hours and that sharp clove note will not recede. My expectation was that the clove would lift the jasmine. Instead it is smothering it. So I suppose the only thing I can do is put it to the side for now, and hope that the jasmine in all of it's glory becomes more pronounced with time. I'm not ready to quit on it, but as of now, I am rather repulsed by the powerful clove. I will give it a few weeks and update! NEXT DAY - Wow. I can't believe what a difference a day makes! I'm getting the full jasmine treatment today and I LOVE it. I'm so happy, and know it will only improve with time. Yes, it IS indolic, but not offensively fecal. It just smells like jasmine grandiflorum in it's purest form. 4/9/2024 - It keeps getting better and better. It lasts longer on clothes than skin. It doesnt have great longevity on my skin but I can smell it on my clothes days later.

I wouldn't call this a typical Jean-Claude Ellena creation - ethereal and translucent, as his work tends to be. I'm not intimately familiar with his entire catalogue, but I know his Hermès pieces well, and Jasmin de Pays is nothing like them. This is a substantial scent, with no wateriness or mistiness to speak of. It wonderfully captures the many facets of jasmine: petals in full bloom, a touch of indole (nothing over the top, so those who usually shy away from strongly indolic scents might well give this one a try), and a hint of savoury greenness reminiscent of leaves and stems, though not enough to call it a green scent. Overall it's botanical, with sweetness present exactly to the degree you'd find it on a living jasmine bush. A great fragrance for lovers of realistic soliflores. For me, the king of jasmine remains Sarrasins by Serge Lutens, with Jasmin Antique from Rogue a close second. This comes remarkably close in terms of jasmine greatness, though it's greener and less dense than either of those two.

Genius to lightly warm the jasmin with the almost indiscernible clove note. You can absolutely identify the clove when you focus in on it. This is a majestic, true, beautiful jasmin. Wow. This would be perfect for balmy summer nights. It conjures up for me an art teacher who wears large hoop earrings and wears jasmin because it uplifts her, but could as perfectly be worn by a Middle Eastern princess like Aladdin's Jasmine. This is the kind of fragrance that wafts. The sillage is warm and rounded. It dries down to be the slightest bit soapy which is good by me. I'm talking just a smidge - this isn't a soapy scent. I have loved and worn LUSH's Lust at various times and whilst they are similar in that they're both heady and true jasmin scents, this is less candied and so very much more refined. I have smelled A la Nuit by Serge Lutens in the past but it's been many years. However, to my mind and memory I feel like this is a more amiable take.

Unadulterated pure jasmine. I went to bloom perfumery in Covent Garden London on Sunday and this is one I sampled. Roll on Wednesday and I rewore my cashmere jumper that I have purposely hung back up and lo and behold the left sleeve I wore this on is still going strong. It has a menthol cool quality now which I would attribute to the cloves. It feels very high quality to me. I think this can be an acquired taste and you have to like jasmine to really appreciate this or otherwise it can be cloying and give off dated vibes. My partner was not keen. On my other sleeve I had Pierre guillames neroli ad Astra which I thought I liked more, as it had a more ethereal lighter quality. They’re both different. This has a very soliflore linear quality but is probably the most definitive Jasmine you’ll find. I think this is one I will eventually get. Or in a travel size as I don’t think a lot is needed at all.

Another beautiful interpretation of a single flower scent by Perris Monte carlo. This is a fresh, juicy jasmine at its peak, its sweetness being the one of the flower and nothing else. A little skanky, yes, it wouldn't be a real jasmine if it wasn't, but in a natural, pleasant way. On my skin I get a bit of burnt rubber, which somehow keeps it from turning too sweet. It smells exactly like a jasmine bush in a warm early summer evening. It is very intense and vegetal in the opening, but it quickly settles in the best jasmine-based perfume. I've been looking for this for a while and I finally found it. Only two scents come close to this: Clair-Obscur by Keiko Mecheri and Madagascan Jasmin by Grandiflora, but Perris' creation outperforms both in terms of longevity. Rogue's Jasmin Antique is a bit more indolic, but its performance is poorer as well. This is a beautiful scent.

Jasmin de Pays is a textbook indolic jasmine. It reminds me of my bottle of Molinard's Jasmin, they could be sisters. The only difference to my nose is this isn't as bright as Molinard's Jasmin but Molinard's Jasmin has a lemon top note that kind of stays throughout the duration of the fragrance and that is missing here. Personally, I think every woman should have at least one good jasmine perfume in their collection. There is just something about it that makes you want to let your hair down and be wild. Jasmine for me has a chaotic dangerous feel to it and I like to wear it when I feel untamed and unfettered. Jasmin de Pays captures jasmine and that feeling beautifully here. If you want a textbook perfect jasmine this is a good way to go.

One of the most stunning Jasmine soliflower of all time. To my nose it is not very indolic at all, thus I am very surprised by the comment below. I deascribe this gem as a 'fatty", sweet (natural sweetness, no gourmand) jasmine with a thick, almost oily feel. Very photorealistic! It reminds slightly Lush's Lust, but it is more refined and less bombastic. No similarity at all with Molinard's jasmine. The lattest (which I own and I do like too) is indeed an indolic jasmine, a bit skanky and with a "vintage" vibe. As for the longevity, on my skin is eccellent, more than 12h, with a moderate projection. A real masterpiece! 4 seansons, only for white florals lovers!

Very nice. I'm a jasmine lover and this is a pure, almost-past-its-prime jasmine soliflor in all its sultry, corn-pudding glory. It's closest to my memory of the Diptyque Essences Incensee 2015 Jasmin edition. But, it doesn't add anything really new to the jasmines I have: Rogue Jasmin Antique (which is similar, but more "perfume-y" with a noted fuzzy, woody drydown), Grandiflora Madigascan Jasmin (which is the same jasmine bush, maybe 4 days earlier, with some green facets and the humidity still there). And then there's Lush Lust, of course, which takes the same ripe jasmine and turns the volume up to 11.

This is such a beautiful jasmine scent. It is fresh, clean, both white and green. It smells like a jasmine bush, almost jasmine tea. It has a tiiiiny note of earthiness, aaalmost like a soil or rotting leaves, but not fully, it is just a hint. It is not like your typical floral flowery petaly perfume. It is floral, obviously, but in a natural, almost leafy way. The scent is pretty linear. Just jasmine, uninterrupted by anything else. It is truly an intoxicating smell. Also pretty long lasting. If you love jasmine, this fragrance is for you! 100/10 for jasmine lovers.

I think it’s the first jasmine scent that I really enjoy! Probably because it reminds me of the flower bushes that we used to call “jasmine” in Ukraine, but in fact it was some other plant that is closer to orange blossom. It’s green, tart and powdery. My favorite floral perfume. The most realistic floral I have found. It is the authentic animalic aroma of a flower. For reference, I tried Lust by Lush and they are not the same. I do have to stress that one time I got a bad batch that did not smell as authentically green and sweet as the one I got first. So keep that in mind and try again. I love it!

Ah, I never dreamed that there would be such a creamy jasmine in this world. Fragrance and feeling that I have never experienced before. A slight clove and Tagete scent sometimes appears and drifts while changing the impression to a creamy jasmine.

Despite all the JCE bashers (I don’t know what he did to you)...but I love it! Wishlist! Perhaps i’am a typical JCE type, the ones I own go well on me. Give it a go, you might be pleasantly surprised.

The best jasmin scent so far!!! It’s indolic just the right way and sweet a little- photorealistic jasmin flowers in a bottle. BEAUTIFULE!!! If you are a jasmin lover you must try this.

Hands down the most incredible Jasmin fragrance, terrifying in its assault to the senses, it is something else. It took me over a year to appreciate this masterpiece!

Very potent, lovely jasmine scent. Reminiscent of sitting outside on a humid, heavy summer day.

I've been on the hunt for an indolic jasmine and have finally found one! (Are they getting rare these days?) This scent is evocative of a hot day in a far-off land, where the warm breeze is blowing the thick scent of a jasmine plant around the paved town square. There is the classic, foecal undertone to the scent (courtesy of the indole) which is reminiscent of both a blooming plant and the opened-up guts of some recently slaughtered ruminant. It is very flesh-like, and almost overly pleased with itself; the underlying warmth to the fragrance really compliments and pronounces the indole in a gorgeous way. The incredible indolic opening softens quite rapidly to a very pleasant, realistic jasmine smell, but with the warm and fleshy feeling persisting (just slightly more quietly). I do not notice obvious marigold or clove scents, but I do think they give the hot, sunny-weather background to the jasmine here. This scent is, in my view, very linear (but when it's so lovely why would you want it to wander off elsewhere?) The floral/ indole facets do undulate slightly but nothing more. To add to the A La Nuit (Serge Lutens) comparisons, I have tried that scent and it's a somewhat different take. The Lutens has some green notes and honey, and reminds me of a jasmine in the morning with dew still on the leaves and flowers, it has a misty-cool feel. Here, the jasmine is hot and heavy, like a plant which has grown fat and full in a glasshouse having been religiously tended by hypnotised gardeners. The Lutens is beautiful and ephemeral, but Jasmin de Pays has a lot more indole, more flesh, more 'oomph'. I get around 8 or so hours with soft projection from Jasmin de Pays, which is quite a bit more than I ever got from A La Nuit. Unisex, because there is no "prettiness" to the jasmine here: it's raunchy, confident and uncaring.

If the discontinued SL A La Nuit makes you sad, then try Jasmin De Pays. This is one of the purest, natural Jasmine perfumes besides A La Nuit. It's like a real Jasmine bush blooming on my skin, fragrant and full of life. It brings joy and radiance, like a sunny and windy summer day on the Mediterranean coast, maybe Grasse, where there are small wooden houses and lovely flower gardens. You are a country girl, put on a vintage dress and go to the garden to pick Jasmine flowers and put them in a basket. That's what I think of when I wear Jasmin De Pays, they are Jasmine flowers that smell of sunshine. Rating: 7/10, Jasmine fans should smell it once. Unfortunately, the fragrance is too close to my skin, I have to hold my nose close to smell it. And longevity is terrible, only about 2 hours on my skin so I wouldn't repurchase

Sunny. Buttery. Almost meaty. With a slight edge of green, and cotton candy. I don't personally get any cloves, or any spiciness or herbaceousness that might come from a marigold note, except faintly in the very late drydown. I also don't think this is really indolic per se, but there is an over-ripeness, rich, thick, earthy -- not smelling of soil, but being of the earth, as opposed to light or airy. It's in interesting interpretation of jasmine, but I have trouble imagining when or where I would wear it.

When a soliflore becomes a lesson in perfumery and a slap in the nose this feeling of holding freshly picked jasmine grandiflorum flowers in your hands. An interpretation that borders on perfection. Even better than Sarrasins? Grandiose

A near-reference jasmine, heady and creamy with the faint undertone of finely powdered cloves. A little too indolic for my tastes, though. Moderate projection for 2-3hr, longevity 6-8hr.

So, a beast within me has recently reawakened and I've been on a quest to explore (and in some cases, re-expolore) big, full, dense, white-floral fragrances. I particularly love jasmine and tuberose. I love orange-blossom. I like magnolia...frangipani not so much. And of course, I adore rose (rose isn't a big white floral...just a floral I adore-lolol). With great anticipation, I applied my generous decant of Monte Carlo Jasmin de Pays. I held my breathe for a few seconds 'cause I feared the fragrance might prove too indolic, too fecal, too intense for my tastes. Disappointingly, I can barely detect the fragrance once applied to my skin. What I DO detect is a pretty, green, vegetal, wispy, slightly bitter, ethereal jasmine fragrance. A soliflore, for sure. That's it. Words like "beefy, meaty, thick, heady, earthy, indolic, etc" do not define the fragrance I experience. Sadly, the perfume does not resonate with me. Nice enough, I suppose. But definitely not full bottle worthy.

this is a very realistic jasmine.. no attempt has been made to pollish off the rough edges or support her with anything else.. the result is that to my nose, it is quite indolic .. and because it is a soliflore, only simple jasmine and nothing more, one might be reminded of certain toilet refreshers, since these also tend to have a soliflore profile, at least the ones i encountered so far.. offcourse it is better quality then toilet refresher, and jasmine cant help that it has been used in such a way, but that is an aspect i didnt foresee when buying this.. I like it.. i even like the indolic qualities, but no matter how nice the smell is, i cannot help but seeing a porcelain bowl pop up in my minds eye every now and then when i wear this ... but he... at least she has the power to transport me to quieter places :-)

Holeeeeeeeey moley indoleyyy!!! I thought I loved jasmine, but what I’ve been loving is a photoshopped and crowd-please-ified shadow of jasmine. I was not ready for this one, nor am I ready for indoles altogether. It took all my might to ignore the first spray which reminded me instantly of tonsil stones. For me, this perfume is merely an experimental journey into the world of indolic florals. And to be honest once it warmed and bloomed on my skin, I did see her for what she was - Jasmine in all of her natural glory. Although I could not see myself wearing this, this perfume is a study of realistic and concentrated jasmine shrubs and should be celebrated for what it is.

This is not your typical flowers. It is straight up jasmine and tagetes. Not bad but sometimes screechy to my nose. Wish the flower notes were diluted more. I don't get the musk note. It is not a bad fragrance but this has edges. If it was rounded with some sandalwood, creamy tonkabean i would love this.

Prior to buying a sample of these perfume I read the comments and was surprised that people either love it or hate it. Well I'm not surprised anymore after trying them. For me they smell beautiful very authentically jasmine, but for my husband they smell like 💩. Consider yourselves warned.

I’m a jasmine lover but after a few tests I decided this doesn’t work for me. It’s too heavy and musky and doesn’t have longevity.

- Feces. Extremely realistic, sun-dried feces. That's precisely what greets you at the opening of this perfume: literal excrement. Following this, the distinct green rubbery odor of jasmine emerges. It's still unpleasant, but it's a welcome change from the initial shock. Then, the perfume encounters an obstacle, like hitting a somewhat charred wall. It's hard to identify exactly what it is; it smells 'dusty', reminiscent of ground, bitter, dried seeds, or perhaps the earth heated under the sun. And that's all there is to it. I can almost picture JCE smirking behind this creation. These niche brands almost deify him, treating him like a demigod. Little do they know what they've actually brought into their homes.

Feces. Very realistic feces. Yep, that’s what hugs you at the opening of this perfume: literal shit (indole). Next the characteristic green odor of jasmine comes out, still unpleasant, but beats the shit. Then the perfume hit a wall, a somewhat charred wall. Not sure what’s that is, smells ashy and like some sort of dried and crushed seeds. Like hot earth roasted under sun. That’s it. I can imagine JCE smirking behind this. These niche brands worship him like a semi god, but oh boy, they don’t know what they’ve invited into their house, mu-ha-ha~

Jasmin de Pays by Perris Monte Carlo opens with a sharp and indolic burst, gradually evolving into a true-to-life jasmine scent that retains its natural essence, reminiscent of jasmine still clinging to the vine, accompanied by subtle leafy notes and a hint of earthy soil in the dry down.

I completely understand that it can be either a holy grail for jasmine lovers who appreciate its photorealistic scent nature or a nightmare for whoever cannot tolerate the indolic facet of jasmine! Unfortunately, the moment it hit my nose, I became a victim lol...

Very realistic: here the jasmine is explored in all its facets, including the raw, animalic, "musty" component. My first impression was cheese, jasmine and cheese. Heavenly and revolting at the same time. Not for me.

As a jasmine lover I wanted to love this scent and had high hopes for it. However, like all indolic jasmine scents, it smells lovely on the paper tester but turns absolutely foul on my skin.

Someone recommended this brand to me and swore by them. I’ve been pretty disappointed as a whole but this one in particular stood out because of how awful it smells. I never wanna be the person to nasty someone’s nice but I found this hard to stomach. Cloves are no stranger to me, I’m a Caribbean girl through and through. But maybe they were never meant to be paired with Jasmin. Because the way this has a bitter undertone to it, is reminiscent of 💩... if you like deeper, spicy, raw, more opulent scents, this may be the brand for you. If you’re the kind of person who finds white florals antiquated and more ornate scents too heavy, maybe leave them alone.

I love Jean Claude Ellena's work, and I love Jasmine, so I thought this would be a no brainer. Well, I'm glad I sampled! This is the most animalistic fragrance I've ever smelled! To me it smells like straight up.. fecal matter. I can't imagine anyone wanting to smell like that! One of the most extreme revulsion I've ever gotten from any fragrance.

A very dry Jasmine tea with a spicy dry down. I would have preferred a balanced bourbon vanilla. It's pleasant but also non-descriptive and not striking enough to qualify as one of the notable jasmine fragrances like Dior Addict edp, hypnotic poison edp, Alien EDP, Lush Lust edp.

It is an interesting but at the same time not all that surprising aspect that most Jasmine soliflower fragrances often invokes division and contrasted and even conflicted opinions among its audiences. After all the full experience of a flower cannot be described as one single thing since a flower just like a human being or anything living for that matter go through different stages in its respective life cycles. Same goes for the delicate Jasmine. The Jasmine flower can represent everything from very moving and innocent young beauty to its more mature indolic and decadent nature. And depending on what aspect of Jasmine you are looking for you will be able to form very contrasting opinions. This is a jasmine fragrance for I would say somewhat of the white floral connaisseur more than the person looking for a jasmine scent that reminds them of a jasmine bush dew drop fresh in bloom. Unless you prefer your jasmine bush more late at night as the heat of the day has begun setting off whiffs of its more ageing aspects... Jasmine is also a flower that offers different experiences depending on where on the globe and in what climate she grows. This is a jasmine fragrance that aspires to try to create the whole experience of the flowers life cycle. And in that sense it is quite an ingenious one, I must say. At least for the Connaisseur who can also appreciate the fine tuned artistry and a scent that doesn’t announce its bearer from miles away. But more like the naturalistic experience of a Jasmine bush that you begin to pick up whiffs from when you come closer to its vicinity. As this does project some. But it’s not bold in any way. Its more interesting quality lies in my opinion in its ambition to offer the different facets of the jasmine flower development. Which means that it offers a different experience depending on how close to it you put your nose. If you let the scent just pass by your nose you will get the beautiful fresh blooming aspect of the jasmine. Her innocent young freshness and the lovely spices that also make jasmin so special, here enhanced with a light touch of clove. Having said that the fresher side of Jasmine de Pays is still not the most beautiful jasmine floral scent that I know. But again Jasmineflowers smell differently depending on where you encounter them. So o don’t doubt this is the accurate Jasmine interpretation of its creator. For me this offers a bit more citrus leaning aspects and not as much spicy ness as my personal reference of jasmine bushes offer. I do not mind the clove but I believe that adds to the slightly sour leaning floral part of the fragrance. The closer you however put your nose to the fragrance on the skin the more of the deeper and earthy and decaying aspects of the flowers life cycle you will get. The indolic side if you will. And Jasmin de Pays does have some indolic accords hidden at the base which will become enchantingly enhanced on warm skin. But throughout its wear it will still project its more innocent floral beauty the further away from the skin you will get. The fragrance is from that perspective quite intoxicating and perhaps also a bit seductive. Either way you have to appreciate the level of creative skill that has gone into creating this naturalistic Jasmine experience coming from recreating strong memories from the past when Jean Claude Elena as a young boy helped harvesting the Jasmine flowers in Grasse, France. And you can tell he truly knows his Jasmine well. For those who can’t really appreciate a flower also during its later parts of its life cycle and who associates all aspects of indolic notes to experiences in the bathroom toilet or are looking for only the dew drop freshness of a just blooming jasmine - this is not for you, It is however also not for those who are instead looking mostly for the indolic, sexy and carnal aspects of a Jasmine fragrance either. Since Jasmin de Pays is probably not at all indolic enough to satisfy those wishes. Instead it is a Jasmine soliflower experience for those who truly appreciate the naturalistic wholeness of the Jasmine flower. And who can appreciate the different layers and the craftmanship that Jasmine de Pays displays. In short a fine tuned and well layered Jasmine soliflower for the Jasmine connoisseur. It sits closer to the skin and more so as time progresses. But still projects its more floral spicy aspects on arms length. But the closer you get to sniffing the skin the more of its seductive aspects you get. I therefore think this is an interesting choice for a bride to wear on her wedding day, Especially if she marries a man who enjoys fragrance and scents in general. And has a somewhat sophisticated sense of smell. It does to me lean more feminine than unisex. But can of course be worn by anyone. ❣️

Jasmin de Pays Perris Monte Carlo For those who detest Hedione-stacked 'Jasmine' perfumes and seek the sensations of walking alongside real Jasmine shrubs on some summer evening, tune into this Perris Monte Carlo offering. Jasmin de Pays is signature Jean-Claude Ellena with its insidious, quiet enchantment. The heady, narcotic elements of Jasmine are curtailed and in its stead a sweet, burnt Crème Brûlée-esque scent is favoured. The Jasmine here retains some of its indoles and orange blossom-like syrupiness, but it's predominantly sweet, chewy, musky, delicate and in some instances redolent of laundry detergent - if the detergent's score was conducted by a maestro like Ellena. In stark contrast to Ropion's Jasmine studs like Alien, Ellena's Pays thrives on realism and subtle nuances that delights me in more intrinsic ways than the heavy Hedione stomping in its Jasmine peer (which I admire for different reasons). Something like this would make the most blithesome scent to discover on a woman. ~ @bigbusynose

Interesting jasmine soliflore. On spraying, I was immediately struck by the mothball aspect of the jasmine, and that indolic feeling remained strong throughout the wear. Otherwise, I get a fairly realistic, green, and pretty jasmine fragrance. I don't know what, but something about it reminds me of Mexico. In my mind, these jasmine flowers are blooming in the high heat of summer. It's somewhat similar to Madagascan Jasmine by Grandiflora - a fragrance I sampled this summer and loved! I wish I could compare them side by side to see why Madagascan Jasmine was a "love" while this is just a "like." I think the Grandiflora was probably a little more wet and jungle-y feeling, while Jasmin de Pays is perhaps a little more buttoned up. Still, it's nice!

This is somewhat similar to Jasmin Antique and it's making me a little frustrated. Jasmin De Pays was kinda getting great reviews everywhere I checked, so I wanted to to see if it is going to be that realistic jasmine perfume with green facets in my head. On my skin I'm getting a spicy, ripe banana-esque mature smelling jasmine that is not very available for casual wear. It almost has this sharp overwhelming feeling on my nostrils up close. Cloves are prominent and that forces the scent to be quite dry. Makes me feel like I'm holding an almost dying jasmine bouquet in a hot car, with someone who is chewing cloves and peeling a brown banana next to me. I'll give my sample more time to see if I'll like it better, very doubtful though.

This is the most realistic Jasmine perfume I have ever smelled. I used to have a jasmine bush outside my bedroom window, and it smelled exactly like this. It's not a love for me-yet. Just a little over a year ago I hated ALL white floral scents, but as I have smelled hundreds of perfumes since my fragrance journey started, I am absolutely loving white florals now. This is very indolic!! So if you don't like that-RUN! And while it softens after two hours, it still smells indolic. I can imagine this is what Grasse, France smells like at certain times of the year. At the beginning I smell jasmine and a hint of marigolds and when it's in the dry down stage, just jasmine and musk.

I am from the Mediterranean, we have Jasmine bushes in my house, I grew up smelling and picking up these flowers and this perfume was a complete disappointment... smells just like menthol and the Jasmine is just not it, all I can smell is the cloves. I thank God I got a sample and did not get a full bottle because I am a deep lover of this flower. I am still in the search of a good Jasmine perfume that ticks all my boxes. The only Jasmine scent that could get close to my liking is actually a shower gel from COGERIE, I wish they made that scent a perfume because is almost perfect.

A very soothing jasmine in full bloom. Fresh and green, yet damp and dewy with the musk giving it a sense of fullness. The clove won't raise its voice here, subtly contributing to the bigger picture, letting the jasmine shine. There's soft hints of sweetness lurking far in the back, reminiscent of chewy, dried whole bananas. But it's only an idea, not an actual gourmand note which would weigh the fragrance down. Instead, Jasmin de Pays hovers around you, gently reminding you of its presence. Great for spring and summer evenings.

this is so strange to me... for the first 15-20 min you have to sit with a weird marigold smell which i can only describe as a bit gross (almost rotten) it smells exactly like what happens to a vase of flowers that goes too long without someone changing the water (eg rot)... but after a while this adds a somewhat pleasant green stemmy quality that is part of any plant life and then the jasmine comes out. and it does smell quite beautiful but there is a big decaying quality i can’t not smell...

At first i was like, oh it's a jasmin soliflore, how boring! And for some people (me) that isn't enough to justify wearing a fragrance. But... Jasmin de Pays is undeniably excellent. The way it changes from a simple photorealistic jasmin opening to a complex dry, bitter, iris-like drydown makes me wonder, if i should credit this achievement to the brand's effort or Ellena's skill. Probably both.
