Mandarino di Sicilia

Comparing Tom Ford Mandarino di Amalfi with Perris Monte Carlo's Mandarino di Sicilia . Both open with their big, delicious blasts of citrus sunshine. The MdA is the airier, more lemony of the two and has a soapy clean quality which, forgive me, reminds me at first of Sunlight lemon washing up liquid. An upper echelon version perhaps but still... MdS opens on a more natural orangey note with distinct petitgrain and is subtly more substantial. Both sustain their citrus openings into the main accords, combining orange blossom in MdA 's case with jasmine, and in MdS 's with geranium, though jasmine is in the mix. Again the MdS feels half an octave lower with a lovely enveloping quality. The difference in the drydowns is intriguing. MdA remains consistently light, simple, centred on fresh white floral and musk, still soapy clean but classier now and very close to the skin. The MdS is still light but the warmth of geranium with musk and a faint cedar give richer sillage and longevity. Both are fantastic variations on bottled sunshine with Mandarino di Amalfi being the brighter, fresher, morning version of the two and the Mandarino di Sicilia capturing the lengthening shadows and warmth of late afternoon / early evening. I love both — and enjoyed alternating between the two — but for me Perris has the edge for its beautiful progression

I think the house of Perris Monte Carlo flies under a lot of people's radar. Everything I’ve sampled I have either liked or loved, and they do exceptionally well in regards to citrus scents. Mandarino di Sicilia is another winner. Top notes are extremely natural and mixed well, creating a beautiful mouth puckering orange grove scent. After the opening, I agree with @trabuquera below, this scent dries down into a predictable skin scent of orange and musk laundry detergent. At the retail price that might be disappointing to some, but I usually buy my bottles on the grey market or through a discounter (as I do with almost all my purchases). As with most fragrances, this is unisex and anyone can wear it. Personally I do not associate citrus scents with men, wear what you love is always the best advice.

i got this tester bottle for 30 dollars which is a bargain. the bottle looks great, the atomizer is powerful, longevity and projection is intimate, not long lasting at all. this one smell just as high quality as many other neroli scent: tomford neroli, borntostandout neroli,.... But in short, this is a green, fresh and airy combo of mandarine, neroli and petitgrain. Tbh i cant diffentiate this one with neroli mediterraneo except that this one has more mandarine ( u should buy this one rather than neroli since this is similar and a bit stronger)

a very unique citrus aromatic scent, I blind bought this preloved so I think its already macerating for a while, initial blast is a strong blast of mandarin orange with boldness of a strong bitter aromatic notes, quite a one dimensional to my nose & last a moderate 4-5 hours, not too bad for a citrus notes, works on a hot & cold climate, suddenly fell in love with this house & already decant some of the black edition, also another blind buy a preloved cedre de diamante, looking forward to it.

This is a sweet mandarin that still manages to be unisex because of its base. It's less generically fruity and more photorealistic mandarin than acqua di parma. It performs surpsingly well in cooler weather...a lot of citruses fall foat unless it's hot...not this one.

I’m a sucker for citrus perfumes. This one smells elegant and mature, somewhat it has darker feel. Id wear this for summer nightouts and museums. To me, this will suit for grownup activities than sunny beach vacations.

Delicious peppery mandarin aroma, it's a shame it lasts only for two hours on my skin. LOVED the scent for summer, so refreshing and sexy.

Like it a whole lot, but it is a little bit of a luxury glamping beach cabin built on sand. Really, REALLY good top notes - juicy and green and bristling with zing - do a great great job of conjuring freshly-peeled mandarin, peel and pith and little popping segments of refreshment. Just beautiful. Not a wide-spectrum art piece of perfume but 10/10 for a realistic picture in scent. But it's disappointing for something this classy to be underlaid with that same rather cheap, almost-metallic, off-white laundry-freshener musk (grey linen musk?) that perfumers so often fall back on to stretch fast-vanishing citrus notes. From the middle up it's absolutely gorgeous; from the middle down, kind of industrial and cold and not willing to make an effort. Feels like they just phoned it in. A lazy, let-down finish for an act that opens this sparkling and fresh and even original. Longevity is marginally better than average for Perris citruses (4 or maybe even 5 hours, even on skin) but the same abusive prices at RRP. Definitely one to reach for in summer - when even that cool-neutral musk might serve as a general feeling of 'fresh' which you'd welcome - and to me it seems unlikely to shine in lower temperatures. Still not half bad and worth experimenting with if you really thirst for all things mandarin-y!

Bought it on notino sale, 100mL at 56.40 eur. After spraying once, I regret chosing it. It was the most confusing citrus perfume my olfactory system ever experience. It was like civil war in a bottle where every notes fought for victory to the last note. That assault on my nose actually made me regret the buying. Left it inside the box for more about 5 months. Now it's one of the most complicated perfume in my shelf. I'm not good at recognizing scents, but here it is, Within the 5 minutes after shelf, it's a tolerable assault of bitter orange, orange blossom and some notes I don't recognize. It develops to complex orange blossom, a hint of jasmine and a bundle of spicy I cannot describe. That I somehow like. After 8 hours it is only noticeable if I press my nose to the skin. Sligthly powdery, citrusy, spicy something that for some reason, reminds me of the scent of recently sprayed Terre d’Hermès. It stays longer when sprayed to skin rather than clothes. Extra Pros: synthetic alcohol blast? Nonexsistent. Recognizeable, white-patterned bottle with gold caps and metal(y? ic? ish?) plague? pretty.

This is fresh and very beautiful, natural smelling perfume. Feels like pure oils - no synthetics. I'm trying to get rid of my almost used samples and this was one of them. Unfortunatly, I don't have any more to give it a real test. I suspect longevity will be disappointing - just due to the nature of the citrus scent. I may have to order another sample. It's really lovely.

A biting green mandarin encased in white florals. Really using the whole orange tree here, with the sharp orange citrus along with the bitter green petitgrain and soft orange blossom, but the jasmine and woody base are also notable participants. The woods come out slightly more as it dries down. Moderately soft projection for 2-3hr, longevity 6-8hr.

Reminds me of a beverage called Orangina. Cheerful, sparkling mandarin with slight bitterish green nuances. A refreshing type of sweet citrus perfect for a summer holiday in Italy. Has a warmth to it in the drydown (from the amber in the base I guess). Good longevity (for a citrus frag) 4-5h

It smells exactly like you're peeling a slightly unripe mandarin orange. It's fresh, tart and a little bitter. It's like summer in a bottle.

Beautiful statement making citrus. A salty bitter orange with stems, leaves, blossoms and all. Agree with reviewers that this is FRESH.

I'll start by saying orange fragrances are my favorite citrus scents. However, this is possibly misnamed. With 3 citrus notes in the opening I was expecting something more bright and juicy throughout the life of this scent. I feel the orange blossom takes the center stage here. The opening is incredible. Perhaps one of the best bright juicy orange openings. You really get the bitter orange, which I love. Within minutes it becomes more creamy and floral to my nose. I know green mandarin can often give off a creamy neroli like aroma. Its quite linear aswell. Aside from the killer bright citrus opening and the creamy orange blossom this doesn't develop much. I've sprayed this multiple times just to experience that opening. I do still detect the citruses but it's wrapped in creamy florals. I like it but I don't love it. Perhaps it's just my skin telling a different story compared to what others are saying here. It's good but not what I expected. I strongly encourage a sample of this first.

A more complex mandarin, good stuff. ⸻ This is a fragrance with some identity, unlike many citrus monoliths. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ford’s Amalfi turns out to be better. Ultimately, it is a rather sweet scent, and like the fading Yuzu by Nicolai, it does so unnecessarily. A summer fragrance should be slightly bitter and airy, like Fathom, simply more dry while not losing a certain lightness and freshness. I also find too many feminine threads here, maybe that’s part of it.

Soapy, bitter, peppery mandarin with abysmal longevity. Leans very masculine to my nose.

The citruses line of fragrances from this house the "Italy" collection, are all done in a Acqua Di Parma style, almost all of them that I've tried have that uplifting good quality citrus notes very similar to releases from ADP. This particular one is very faint, and soft, fleeting. The scent reaches the petitgrain cedar musk soft amber base fairly quickly and remains on skin for a few hours. The bitter orange, mandarin citrusy juicy notes just pop in the opening for just some time, but its nicely blended citruses with florals, would be a very pleasant vibrant summer scent if applied generously. Not entirely unique for sure, not something that's memorable either, but however, the standard of raw materials used in this are definitely appreciable.

I tend to overspray this because the longevity and sillage is just moderate. Or so I thought. After months of not using it, I sprayed it today and I was surprised how the performance has improved. I also got my first compliment today. It opens a bit tart and green from the mandarin and petitgrain, I also detect a very strong neroli but it’s not listed in the notes, that’s why I find it very similar to TF Neroli Portofino. I suspect that the orange blossom listed here could be a mistake. I also smell a bit of grapefruit instead of the bitter orange, the other florals I cannot detect, After a while it becomes powdery but the tartness lingers. First rate juice that’s very realistic and natural without smelling like a bathroom cleaner.

Just a stunning creation from the Perris house. The opening is delightfully Italian with that very natural mandarine note, very gentle and not astringent. Cannot emphasize enough how realistic and convincing the mandarine note seems. It then melts with the floral (I personally get more jasmine than geranium), musky and ambery notes and gives this fragrance a very relaxed aura. Works beautifully in the evening/nightime as well. You'll have to respray this as it is very light and fleeting, but boy what a spectacle ! Full bottle needed.
