Coton Egyptien

Fresh, crisp white shirts, clean linens right off the clothesline that had been blowing in a gentle summer breeze. I fell head over heels with this one, and if I didn't have a couple other faves, I'd consider this my signature scent. I'm a big fan of all the notes, so we were made for each other. This isn't everyone's cup of tea, thank God, so I'll shamelessly keep it for myself. It makes me purr. Any haters of this l'il beauty are welcome to forward their bottles to me to love. I'll pay the postage. After doing some grocery shopping one day, I was loading up my car when a woman chased me out of Safeway to the parking lot to ask what scent I was wearing. She was raving about how beautiful it was and just had to have a bottle. Wish I could have given a decant to her but alas, I was wearing the sample I had just received from LuckyScent! I hope she won't be disappointed when she sees the price tag, and I hope she treats herself to a bottle, too. It's tidy, uncomplicated, and squeaky clean. Sort of like me, although I can be complicated (aren't we all? I mean, who isn't?) and as sloppy as six pigs on any given day if I'm in the mood for hanging out in my jammies and eating a pint of ice cream.

I try to keep my samples inside the confines of a (too) small box in my closet. For the first year that a decant of Coton Egyptien was sitting in my sample box, I didn't care much for it. Not because I didn't like it, but because it didn't make an impression on me. It was just a very pretty, forgettable, clean scent among so many other very pretty, forgettable, clean scents. The box is always brimful though, so I started wearing Coton Egyptien to bed every night, hoping to make room for something new. Doing so has changed my impression of it completely, and I now find it hard to sleep without it. Coton Egyptien is chilly, comforting, fresh, and calming. It's the most delicious thing to inhale on a warm and stuffy night. It clears my mind and brings me the best of dreams. It smells of clean skin, moonlight, and fresh linen. I am in love. When my decant runs out, which is very soon, I'll be getting a full bottle.

It is good to know that there is a 2012-2013 one and a 2016-onwards. Therefore people perception can difference. I tried a sample of this and absolutely fell in love! I therefore bought a whole bottle, but it did not smell the same. After contacting Phaedon I got the following answer: "The bottle of Coton Egyptien you own was made in 2012. This perfume was discontinued in 2013 because of an availability problem regarding one component. A new Coton Egyptien, with a new formulation on the same thema, was released in 2016, after the global repacking of the brand. There is no difference between two batch...it's simply two differents perfumes. The thema (smell of a clean egyptien cotton, with floral and green undertones), was interpreted by the same perfumer with different composition, that's why the name is the same."

This one has been reintroduced to select Phaedon stockists in 2016 in a 100 ml spray bottle (as EdT). All in all Coton Egyptien is an ample exploration of clean smelling musks and floral modifiers. An incredibly well lasting fresh fragrance with a hint of freshness and white flowers. Inspiration: thick white cotton linen drying on a line outdoors somewhere very sunny.

Clean cotton sheets... very Clean, soft and "warm" to skin in some way... If you like Clean Warm Cottom or Byredo Blanche - you will like this one. Definitely one scent to have if you like cotton smell. Average sillage and longevity.

No reviews since 2022 is crazy. This is beeeeeautiful. I grabbed a sample to get my cart total over the free shipping limit and was I ever surprised by how much I liked this. Cool and comforting. Not very complex but for a soft sensual bedtime option this one is great.

Adding another much needed review! I picked this up in my search for clean bed-time scents earlier this year and have been sitting on it ever since. Wasn't sure at first, but I reach for this fragrance surprisingly often for how "mid" it smells out the bottle. Clean laundry, cotton, cozy. Not as "clean" as I'd hoped, the musk gives it an edge of dampness that I don't super adore. I stopped reaching for this as a bed scent due to that reason and began reaching for it as a "lazy sunday at home" scent instead because it feels a little more lived-in than straight up fresh laundry. Wish it was cleaner. Still lovely and cozy, though. Reminds me of bed sheets in a tropical location where the humidity has affected the crispness somewhat. For how basic that sounds, I still really enjoy this fragrance and surprise myself often with how frequently I reach for it, so there's obviously something incredibly comforting and relaxing about it.

Dryer sheets. This has that particular hyper-clean smell of dryer sheets or laundry liquid, not the cloth but what's been used to clean it.

Be warned this does not last or leave a scent trail or even a scent bubble around you. It does smell very nice, sweet but at the same time I do get the fresh laundry. It would be great, for me, as I’m really into scents like that. However, it just disappeares so quickly, to the point both my husband and myself can’t even smell it, putting our noses right up to my arm - twenty minutes after spraying. Such a shame.

This is not a soft, fluffy cotton. This is a q-tip dipped in antiseptic kind of cotton. It reminds me of a freshly cleaned bathroom. I find it unpleasant, but it only lasts about an hour, so I don't even have to bother scrubbing it off.
