Amber Haze

I first reviewed Amber Haze last June 2025. I’m back 8 months later to give a second review because, yeepers!🧡— I LOVE me some Phlur Amber Haze. Especially in latter February where I live, as “Spring” arrives here in Northeast Florida with temperatures in the low 80’s. It’s the perfect light, floral amber for these warmer days that start in late February here. When you love huge amber, musk, ambroxan and vanilla scents as much as I do and you live in a subtropical climate that makes them challenging to wear them 70% of the year, fresh vanilla ambers like Amber Haze are a godsend! Ugh, I keep hoping and praying for the company to release an edp format, but so far, no dice. I get the BR540 associations to the scent of Amber Haze, which is probably a major reason why I am so partial to it. (I adore and own both br540 Eau de Parfum and Extrait). Amber Haze does have a similar scent profile. But side by side, their fragrances are very different. Amber Haze is a creamier take on the BR540 scent profile. Rather than the “airy fairy” cotton candied strawberry of br540, the sweetness in Amber Haze reminds me of saltwater taffy, a salty/sweet and vanilla based treat in different flavors, ubiquitous to the south/southeast shores of the States. According to the given notes, Amber Haze has no ambroxan (unless “amber” is what they’re calling “ambroxan” here?) But this is a sweet vanilla amber floral that has that unmistakable oceanic aspect that ambroxan gives... so if Amber Haze has no ambroxan, then it sure smells like it does! It’s one of the few amber scents I find fresh enough to wear comfortably in summertime. Like most of Phlur’s body mists, this one has pretty good longevity for a mist, about 3-4 hours on me with a nice, arms length scent bubble for the first 2 hours. Amber Haze is a fresh amber vanilla that has the smell of sun warmed skin, damp with ocean salt and a bit of fresh sweat. I know this can hit some noses like bad body odor... my firstborn daughter says it smells like cat pee on her skin😄🤷🏻♀️ But to me it smells wonderful. It smells intimate, sweet, and very sexy. Please, Phlur, make an edp—tout suite!

Fantastic BR540 dupe in an oh-so-wearable and affordable body mist format. I adore this to wear when the weather is too steamy and hot for my BR540 edp and extrait. I feel Amber Haze leans towards being more like the BR540 extrait than the edp, as it’s sweet. It’s not heavily sweet, it’s a light, airy vanillic sweetness. Although it’s not in listed in the notes, there’s almost a cherry-almond scent to it. Also not listed, Amber Haze has that oceanic/iodine smell that often indicates the presence of ambroxan. Maybe it’s the oak moss? Reading other reviews here, it seems like this smells a bit different to everyone wearing it. Try it for yourself and see what you get. I get more vanilla/saffron/amber with Amber Haze than br540(strawberry/ambroxan/iso e super) I love both those combos, though, so win/win! Like all Phlur body mists I have worn, this actually performs more like a good eau de cologne. I can still catch subtle whiffs off my skin about 3 hours after application. Amber/musk, sweet vanilla, spicy saffron, YUM!😋 I hope this never gets discontinued!

This is really unique and nostalgic to me! I wonder if I've been around a similar scent, or if saffron and candied almonds remind me of childhood experiences~ (edit: I can't believe I forgot that it was reminding me of nabat in vanilla tea!!) Its almost smoky? I get primarily saffron with a warm amber and vanilla base.. The other notes are harder to pick out but I notice enough depth to know they're there! I really love that the drydown smells so much like the initial spray ♡ I don't like scents that are too heavy/smoky/leathery/spicy, this is exactly what I'd reach for if I wanted to evoke a little bit of that energy without overdoing it~ Its 90% feminine and sexy, but also just that hint of edgy ♡ A great femme fatale scent for a gourmand lover! I just wish that it lasted longer! But this is more of a body spray so I can't fault it for that! I think it'd be good for every season except summer and both day and night~ I read after picking this out that its a great BR540 dupe, which solidifies my urge to try BR and the Extrait someday!!

For context, I'm not a BR540 super fan. I find the fragrance nice and have sampled it before but I don't care to buy it because of how oversaturated it is. That being said, I bought samples of the PHLUR body mist line and I'm shocked at what a good value this body mist is. It smells exactly what I remember BR540 to smell like: that caramelish airy spun sugar smell, and it has AMAZING performance for a body mist. I sprayed it on my arm and actually tried to scrub it off with a wet cloth (not because I disliked it but because I bought a sample haul and was eager to try more), and it would not budge. I went to the gym and got great sillage the entire time; even after intense cardio I could still smell the fragrance. It's a little shocking to me that the performance is so good; my only guess is that my nose for whatever reason is very attuned to smelling the aromachemicals in thr BR540 DNA. I am actually considering buying it even though I only got a sample as an afterthought.

I kept hearing online that “Amber Haze” was the best Phlur body spray, as an “Into the Night” loyalist I wanted to find another layering spray to switch it up. This scent is a classic BR540 sort of formula, it is sweet with a high amber vanilla smell yet has some warm spices and white florals. It smells like a more mature “Cloud” by Ariana Grande with a bit complexity and more spicy notes. I have to say the dry down is really where it’s at! There is really a smooth sweet vanilla amber that has some warm spice. It blends together seamlessly and there is no weird plastic note that sometimes comes with similar scent profiles. I would love love love if Phlur made this into a perfume because it is not the most potent and having that option would be great. ☺️💕

If the Phlur lords hear me, please don’t listen to negative reviews, and make this an EDP. We need to give credit where it’s due. It’s a year round flexible and layer able fragrance that also stands on its own. I don’t run into the “I was yelled at for my fragrance” like...ever. But I was in the cold, wide open air headed go skiing - had just taken a break to the car and reloaded my mist, when a girl yelled across the parking lot to get my fragrance. I was glowing for days lol. That is all

I really hope they come out with the perfume version of this...it’s beautiful & the trail it leaves is heavenly- I get lots of soft vanilla. Love it! Very similar to SDJ 68 but I prefer the sillage and wafts that I get from this. Seems to have quite a few negative reviews but perhaps it’s because people are tired of the whole BR DNA. Personally I think I’ll repurchase this over and over. I’m already on my second bottle.

One of my absolute favorites. This one I tend to reach for every day and I will be so sad when my bottle runs out. This scent made me realize I LOVE amber notes. If I put this on right after the shower and in my hair, I tend to notice it lingers very closely for a long time. Definitely my go to for layering and makes me feel so sexyyyy

Smells like baccarat rouge 540, but a bit sweeter imo. And has a more instense amber note. While I reviewed Vanilla Smoke from Phlur as being unisex but more for men, Amber Haze is definitely more for women. This will be my fragrance for autumn nights for sure.

This has a note that makes me think a lot of another 13 by le labo but sweeter, i don’t know if anyone thinks the same ? Anyways I love it, pretty good sillage and longevity for a body mist !

Gorgeous amber mist, perfect for layering. The only Phlur body mist I’ve repurchased multiple times. Just wished it performed longer!

mmmm where to start. i'm not a huge body mist person, i think i'm a little traumatized by bath and body works and victorias secret. this doesn't feel too far off in terms of alcohol content im not gonna lie. however, this scent in particular is a very beautiful musk that i get complimented on alllll the time by my loved ones because the notes sit very nicely on my skin. straight out of the shower ill circle a halo of it around my head and body. as a mist its obviously very diffuse, not lasting on my body for more than an hour i would say. i agree with others, it is very very similar to MFK BR. my first impressions are the warmth of the saffron and amber and it simmers into my skin as a sweet floral. its feminine and i've honestly been pleasantly surprised at how good it smells, just not how it feels. i'll give it a 7/10. i believe the reason i'm not jumping for joy at this fragrance is because it has a alcohol wave to it that i find personally overwhelming. for the price range it does give cheap, if it weren't for its well-paired notes i would say its not worth. i am not pro-body mist, sorry. otherwise the notes themselves are gorgeous, you definitely can smell a nice blend of saffron and amber that matches MFK BR, but unfortunately not as much jasmine to my liking. this is a hug from your high school mutual friend that you just bumped into at sephora, she makes very poor financial decisions but she is very pretty so it cancels out. if you're looking for a short-lasting dupe this is for you. if you're looking for an everyday signature scent that is longer lasting, i'd say to try sand and fog jasmine cedarwood - my little secret.

i have such a weird relationship with this fragrance. It's expensive for a body spray, but performs decently and better than some perfumes i have. I go noseblind to it very and on initial spray i get a headache and nauseous. despite all this, it is my most complimented scent to date. I didn't believe the BR540 dupe allegations until i finally got a chance to smell BR540 and wow, this fragrance (at least on the opening) goes bar for bar. if you like BR540 i would say this is a safe blind buy. its a sticky sweet burnt sugar amber with a hint of saffron and a bit metallic/medicinal vibe from the oakmoss. Really great for winter. i wish this didnt make me feel sick, i left my bottle behind to go abroad and i miss her :(

I bought all 3 mists, and this one lands in the middle for me. Definitely a shameless BR540 dupe, but that’s fine with me! Not as sweet/fruity as Cheirosa 68, this is more woody and medicinal, but not in a bad way. I think it smells good for what it is, and I’ll definitely get wear out of it. If you dont like the BR540 type of scent profile, this is NOT for you. But if you do, this is a good spray for either top ups or just to get that kind of feel. Layers well with the vanilla skin scent which is nice, considering that’s the most boring one (IMO) of the collection and could use some oomph. Overall, a safe buy so long as you know you like this type of scent profile.

I am a hardcore amber lover. This smells amazing! The first thing you smell is amber and vanilla, followed by a powdery smell as it dries down. I love the balanced base notes of Jasmine and sandalwood. However, I only wear this on short outings (coffee shop, movie, etc.) because it unfortunately fades after a couple of hours. I get tons of compliments on it, but if I wear it to work, I have to use my perfume primer cream to make it last longer. Otherwise, it's fully evaporated by the time I get home.

Definitely a BR540 dupe.... But I’m fine with it. At this point, I’m sick and tired of BR540 as a perfume but I always keep Sol De Janeiro 68 in my collection because I do like that BR smell as a layering tool. Amber Haze will now replace SOL 68 in my collection. To me SOL 68 is much sweeter and a more teenage smelling than this. Amber Haze definitely captures the darker heavier side just as BR does.

First spray reminds me of Cloud. Idk if it's the saffron, but I do get a rubber smell. As it dries down, it has a nice creamy vanilla musk with warmth from the amber. Main issue is that it is super medicinal. Reminiscent of Burberry Her Elixir if you dialed down the indolic jasmine and subtracted the sandalwood and berries. I love it, but also can't stand it lol

I feel like people call things dupes when there is just a slight similarity between them. This is quite different from BR540. Amber Haze is much less sweet, more ambery, and it has much less of that dental office saffron note. I wonder if people saying it smells like vape or whatever are anosmic to all the other components in this fragrance.

I like this one a lot. It has that same type of current-Phlur ambery DNA that I personally like and find addictive. Upon first spray, this is actually a cherry fragrance even though I don't see it noted!! That fades quickly as it dries down to a nice amber base. Methinks it's meant to be a dupe for Baccarat Rouge

This Phlur scent is super slept on. It has a bit of BR540 DNA but not as heavy. I really hope they eventually make a perfume version of this.

A sweet saffron and vanilla, drys down to a sharp candy amber.

I smelled this in the store a few times before I bought it, and back then all I smelled was a sweet musky amber. It was giving me AG Cloud vibes (with the Baccarat dupe DNA) but so much better, and of course with amber and just a bit of different scent profile overall. I had no idea there was supposed to be saffron in this. After I finally bought it, for whatever reason, I didn't touch it for a few months. Revisiting it today, I am really smelling the saffron and oakmoss, and it doesn't smell particularly sweet to me anymore. It's like I'm finally smelling what it's actually supposed to smell like. It's so weird how your sense of smell can change so much! This fragrance isn't bad but it's also not for really for me. It ends up smelling rubbery to me, and from what I'm reading it seems like I'm not the only one. I honestly wish I could unsmell the saffron/oakmoss and get what it originally smelled like to me.

Similar-ish to Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Crush Cheirosa 68. Saffron forward - bittersweet, soft, slightly leathery, smooth. Soft dewy sweet jasmine. The oakmoss adds something unique, but I don't love it. It leans dusty vegetal, almost medicinal. Lasting power moderate for a spritz, sillage is intimate. If you like the vibe of BR540 but prefer the affordability and easy wear of Sol De Janeiro Cheirosa 68 (I'm not agreeing these are anywhere near the realm of dupes, just agreeing that they are similar vibes) you might like the soft airy sweet but not too sweet saffron amber but be warned the oakmoss is most definitely there yelling in the background.

On me, this leans very musky floral. It’s not bad but not nearly sweet enough for me. It does sweeten a bit after an hour or two but not enough for me to enjoy it. Has a decent personal sillage and lasts all day. I would say it’s a bit similar to other Baccarat Rouge dupes (Cloud, SDJ ‘68, and Burberry Her), but not similar enough that I immediately thought of any of them when I tried this. It’s much muskier on me than the dupes mentioned above.

Smells very good in the bottle, but when I spray it on my body it just smells like alcohol and sweetness. For something so initially overpowering however, there is basically zero longevity or projection. I will spray it on myself before school and by the time I get there it's basically gone. Unfortunate because I like the notes and it seemed fine initially, but this brand just isn't great.

I should love this based on the notes, but I’m so tired of BR540 dupes. I didn’t even know that’s what I was sick of until diving further into fragrances, but I bought almost all of the Phlur mists, and Amber Haze is in the bottom two. It’s a bit heavier than AG Cloud body mist, but they mostly smell exactly the same. These scents are over sprayed everywhere and totally ruined.

Similar to BKR540 Similar to SDJ68 - but not as sweet Similar to SDJ Cherica crush but less fruity Initial spray a bit strong and like cough syrup but after ten mins or so it gets better. Sweet, airy, not bad but I don't see myself reaching for it. Still has that slight rubber/medicinal smell that these types of Fragrances have. Makes me sneeze.

i was amazed by phlur's Mango mood and decided to get this as a blind buy, and i was kind of dissapointed here. it needs time - the first spray simply smells like acetone. once it develops, to me it smells like opening a metal box of powdered candies. i wear it, but i don't love it.

Top and middle notes are lost in this one. It's a safe, boring fragrance during the first five minutes. However, there's an annoying spike of oakmoss after drydown that drags down this scent for me.

Smells just like Cloud! Bummed. Going back to Sephora 🥲

I'm still an amateur when it comes to fragrances, but this one is not a favorite for me. I've heard reviews saying it's similar to AG Cloud, which I can see having some similar vanilla sweetness when first sprayed. It opens up with a woody sweet saffron and heavy jasmine, and you get wifts of vanilla which is quite pleasant! The issue for me is the dry down, where the oakmoss comes in very strong on my skin and smells almost dusty and medicinal/herbal (not in a good way). It burns my nose and gives me a little bit of a headache which is not common for me. I wish they didn't include that note because otherwise, it's a nice simple woody lightly sweet fragrance for the fall/winter time. I can't comment on how long it lasts because I had to wash it off my hand after the dusty heavy smell kept getting to my nose. Sillage is intimate to slightly moderate.

I get the BR 540/Cloud comparisons and the SDJ 68 too, but as soon as I sprayed this on my hair, there was this medicinal, dentist-like scent unlocked that was so nauseating for me :(. I asked my bf and mom if they smelled the same thing and they couldn't detect what I smelled, but still said it was overall meh. Not sure if it was my hair products conflicting with it, but I returned this spray the same day it arrived in the mail. I would say just get SDJ 68, also a body spray at a similar price. Hopefully I'll like the other scents in this line, such a miss of a blind buy for me haha.

I was on the fence about buying this but then I smelled it on a friend and I removed it from my cart. It’s 100% a dupe for BR540, which smells nice from the bottle and I was thinking I wanted something cheap to sniff that smelled similar for the rare occasion I wanted to smell it, but in the air this smells so...rancid? Maybe she over sprayed but it was incredibly suffocating, especially in a small workspace. If you like Baccarat Rouge you’ll probably like this, but overall this was not for me.

I wanted so much to love this. I. The cap it smells amazing. Exact dupe of BR540. On my skin it smells like.. burnt rubber? Burnt plastic? A dirty wet band aid? A dentists office? I tried to wait for the dry down but this never went away for me. Thankfully the scent was fleeting. Blind buy miss :(

smells like very watered down saffron, I think it's supposed to be a baccarat dupe? but I'm sure there are a lot better saffron perfumes. if you're getting just one phlur body mist, let it be vanilla skin. I'm not even the biggest vanilla or gourmand girly, that one is just way better

I wish I loved this one so badly, but unfortunately, I hated it so much that my sephora review got removed. Does not work for me, smells like I took a bath in benadryl, 0/10 would blind buy again. I truly don’t mean to yuck someone’s yum, but this was my first ever scrubber

I am an amber/musk/vanilla girlie, but this is totally unwearable for me. It smells exactly--and I mean EXACTLY--like play makeup I had when I was 7 yrs old.

I wrote a long ass review about how I didn’t like this and how everybody was lying ...yeah I deleted that post and I’m here to sincerely apologize to the world and anyone I pissed off cus I’m obsessed now and love her more then my vanilla skin 😂 see that’s the beauty of fragrance , I’m guessing it had a change to maturate / macerate whatever you wanna call it and it’s fucking gorgeous , can’t stop spraying it can’t stop smelling myself I want everything in this scent they need to come out with a heavily scented EDP and OIL ! when I first sprayed it to me it was like alcohol , moss & a tiny bit of amber which threw me off but literally after 2 days I came back to it and was like 🤔 you are not the same girl I met two days ago 😂 . Mind blown , in love , 2000/10 , get it.

Got this because I love amber scents but I really don't like this scent. I disagree with everybody who calls this sweet because it isn't, oriental is a good way to describe it. It's quite heavy and peppery, def a more wintery scent.There is an overpowering note that I dislike and can't identify, might be the moss or saffron... My best description would be if you had a bunch if liquorice root in a metal box... As usual there is 0 staying power. I haven't smelled BR so not sure about a comparison.

This is the best Baccarat Rouge dupe I’ve ever smelled in my life... for the 90 seconds that I’m able to smell it 😂 After that I get completely noseblind! I sometimes get anomsic to BR as well, but with that I do get whiffs of it when I move around from time to time, and that “transparent” effect of smelling it occasionally lasts for days on clothing. Not so for me with this body spray, but if you’re someone who never gets anosmic to BR, I highly recommend it!

While shopping I had sprayed Greenwhich Village on my skin. I later stopped in Sephora and tested Amber Haze and my immediate reaction was that they are similar. Not nearly as smooth, but in the same family. The further I test this the more the medicinal notes start to scream. If you’re lucky and don’t get the medicinal notes from the baccarat dna, you will probably love this spray.

Vanilla Skin's stunted sister. Still has that sticky, sugary element to it, but you have to spray quite a lot to be able to smell anything. The alcohol content is high, which is very noticeable at the beginning, but it goes away later. This fragrance is not offensive, but I'm not a huge fan either. Too sugary and underdeveloped for me.

This is my favorite Phlur Body Mist. I was influenced to get another one, however, it was sold out everywhere! This has a nice ambery vanilla mist and I love the sprayer. I would say this is the mature older sister to Vanilla Skin. I would not compare this as a BR dupe, but it would be good to layer with if you're into that.

Super underrated fragrance by Phlur. Yes, this is clearly their version of the BR540 DNA, but it stands on its own. It's good for everyday and when you want a saffron fix. This is a warm, ambery saffron all the way through. I wish the saffron was a touch airier and more dominant, but I still like where it's at.

To me this smells like hardly anything. Its airy, metallic oakmoss with a hint of saffron spice. But it barley smells like anything. Maybe I'm nose blind to it. This might as well be a bottle of water with the smallest hint of spice.
