Solar Power

SO I have what I would like to think is an important piece of insight about this perfume. I first tried it on a sunny day when I was just getting in from walking my dogs, a little sweaty, and wearing my favorite breezy sundress. Everything felt like sunshine and this smelled like everything I want summer to be. Bright, citrusy, fresh, a little sunscreen-y, like warm skin, warm clear water, and everything good. I fell in love, wore it every day, and bought several bottles because I learned it had been discontinued. I watched YouTube reviews and read comments here, ultimately deciding that the people who found it powdery and awful had different body chemistry than me. Then I tried it one day in my office. I was freezing in the air conditioning, a little depressed, and took out Solar Power hoping I could spray a ray of sunshine on to cheer myself up. But it was SO GROSS. It was flat, powdery, medicinal, and floral in a way that was not cute or fun. First I panicked because I'd bought so much of it and then tried to ignore it for the rest of the afternoon. But as soon as I ended my day and went out into the heat, it immediately turned back into everything I had loved in the first place. This feels like it has a touch of magic in it - at least on me, it genuinely ONLY works when my body is warm. If I'm sitting in the sun, if the air around me is warm, if I'm just a tiny bit sweaty, this is absolutely gorgeous. If I'm cold and wrapped up in a sweater? It's pretty bad.

I got this as part of the discovery set, and I can't pinpoint the memory but theres something so nostalgic about this scent to me, definitely as others describe a sunscreen type smell, with a hit of citrus. No it doesn't last too lon,g and it is very much a skin scent, but i had to find a full-size size of it because the smell just immediately makes me smile. Im seeing that this might be discontinued, so if you get a chance to sample it, snap it up if you like it. Definitely workplace friendly I'd say, an everyday scent, and definitely one to bring in your bag or car because you'll need to reapply throughout the day, which is a shame given the price and the fact it's an EDP. Overall, id give it a 7.5/10, I think it will be an everyday scent for me.

Ordered a 1ml sample of this and my first impression of it from the dabber bottle was it came too strong on the citrus side, which reminded me a bit of a harsh air freshener used in taxis. But, after transferring it to a little spray bottle and finally spraying it on skin, the citrus is still there but more toned down, and I can finally smell the neroli. Super super love and instant mood lifter!!! Sadly it only lasted a few hours but I would be very much willing to respray it if I had a full-sized bottle. Again, sadly I heard it’s been discontinued. I hope it comes back so I can purchase a FSB.

Smells like fresh air and sunshine. Breezy and bright. Beachy but not sunscreen or coconut. Airy, bright blue skies, sunny but not sweltering. Aldehydes really come through, a twinge of citrus. Fresh white florals that are light and breezy, not heady in a TF Soliel Blanc beachy way. Gives D&G Shine vibes. If sunshine could smell refreshing, this is it. A perfect summer fragrance that won't weigh you down. Lasting power is decent, especially on clothes. Sillage intimate to moderate, not a skin scent, but not overpowering.

If you want to smell like you put sunscreen on and sat on the beach all day, LIKE I DO, then Solar Power is the one for you. This is the closest perfume I have found to the tragically discontinued Urban Decay Go Naked. Layered together they are fantastic and the Go Naked's oil base adds hours to the wear time. I prefer the Go Naked for its depth and longevity but now that I have found Solar Power I can breathe...all is not lost! Lol. But seriously, they are similar and that makes me happy.

To start, this is genuinely one of my favorite smells in the world. The day I tested Solar Power, I didn't stop thinking about it until I ran to Sephora the next day to grab it. But it DOES NOT LAST. It maybe lasts 5 minutes, 10 minutes before it disperses and I can't even tell I drenched myself in it. Such a shame, given that it's one of my favorite fragrances that I own solely in terms of smell.

My favourite Phlur scent by a mile. I'm partial toward jasmine, so it shouldn't be a surprise that I love this. It's beachy and potent, but not overpowering or pungent. While I wish the longevity were a tad better, I'm quite happy with the sillage, and find both are significantly better here than with, say, Tangerine Boy.

One of my favorite summer scents. It's mostly neroli and blood mandarin on me. I spray it on a wristlet to be able to smell it all day. It's beachy but not coconut or sunscreen. I feel like neroli isn't for everyone. This is neroli heavy on me.

To me, this one leans more femme than unisex but absolutely anyone could wear this; it's just that good. This will be my next purchase; I decided that as soon as I smelled it on my sweater the day after I fell in love with it at the mall.

Very likeable, friendly scent. Sits very close to the skin and doesn't have long lasting power, unfortunately. It's bright and elegant, but feels young.

Beachy but more intentional, a spa fragrance. I'm not sure I'd wear this on my skin but a great bathroom scent.

My favourite from the brand, this will be my next purchase! TF Neroli Portofino but somewhat gentler.

Personal: 7/10 - Pleasant, bright, citrusy and floral. It's a fine fragrance, but just fine. Mass appeal: 8/10 – Citrus white florals are pretty safe. This one is no exception. Performance: 5.5/10 - A bit sub-par, even for something bright and fresh. Value: 5/10 – Phlur pricing is fair for niche-lite, but for this fragrance it's still too much. Uniqueness: 4/10 - Very generic, uninspiring, but safe DNA. SCORE: 59/100 Full bottle buy? NO, too simple to earn a spot. Sorry. Blind buy? YES, it’s safe, citrusy and white floral. It's extremely safe. Recommend? YES, for anyone who wants a casual summer scent that isn't quite mainstream. Date night? NO, it’s fun and bright but not romantic or seductive. Office safe? YES, professional and inoffensive, but it might vanish too quickly. Pros: Bright, citrusy, fresh. It's very easy to wear and pleasant. Cons: Linear, not memorable, disappears too quickly, and is entirely generic. It opens with exactly what you'd expect. Sunny, bright citruses and florals. It's very pleasant, very linear, very uninteresting, and very generic. It's not unique in almost any regard, and it feels like most designer scents. Now, that said, I respect how, well, bland this fragrance is. It's uninteresting but it does that particularly well. It's worth smelling to see if it should be YOUR daily driver, but I won't use it as MY daily driver. Another generally uninteresting fragrance from Phlur. Though it's respectable. Solar Power by Phlur is like if Neroli 36 by Le Labo and Soleil Blanc by Tom Ford had a lovechild and left it to sunbathe. It’s got that soft citrusy neroli sparkle, but with a relaxed, intimate twist. To me, it feels like the younger sister of Phloria—much more laid-back, more breezy, more solar and beachy, and way more youthful. On my skin, the citrus and neroli combo leans ever so slightly masculine, but in that clean, crisp, summer-skin sort of way. This isn’t a room-filler. It’s a scent that stays close, like someone whispering in your ear or the warmth left behind after a hug. I imagine wearing it on holiday, somewhere like Costa Rica or Thailand—just back in your hotel room after a whole day in the sun, fresh out of the shower, slipping into something comfortable before dinner or a well-earned nap. Despite being a second-skin scent, it lasts surprisingly well on me. It has those beachy, salty-skin vibes, but thankfully stays far, far away from the usual sunscreen cliché. It’s sunlight in a bottle—but gentle, not blinding.

When I was on the swim team in elementary school, my mom let me use one of her "sunshine blonde" shampoos to keep the chlorine from turning my hair green. I ADORED the smell of it and have been chasing that scent since the bottle ran out. Solar power smells EXACTLY like I remember that shampoo. Like bottled sunshine. (I am NOT picking up on the animalic notes everyone else seems to be bothered by, which is a great thing bc I loathe musky animalic notes.) The only downside is the longevity and sillage. Like a dreamy summer day, it just doesn't last long.

This fragrance surprised me! It smells like a warm summer day , it’s not cloyingly sweet and doesn’t have overpowering white floral solar notes or overly strong coconut like the mass market now . The neroli makes this different and unique and the sea salt and driftwood make it warm, comforting And beachy but not in a sunscreen coconut kind of way, it’s a bright warm happy scent. I just wish it lasted longer , I would buy it on sale only because it doesn’t last long max 2 hours .

smells like you’re walking around a lemon tree grove on a hot day, and someone in your party is wearing a strong smelling sunscreen! i think this would make a really pleasant flowery skin scent if you’re looking to apply something on top of sunscreen before going out on a warm day, starts out bright and aldehydic, and for me i got the florals, salts and citrus after it dried down a little. doesn’t last too long but perfect for an afternoon picnic at the beach or lake :)

Solar florals are hit and miss with me, but I think both this and Dedcool’s Sunlit Blooms are quite nice. If Dedcool is more creamy and marshmallowy, then Solar Power is more citrusy - it has that sparkling hit of blood orange before transforming into neroli and orange blossom. It does give off quite the sunscreeny vibe - husband said it smelled like Coppertone. This would be great to wear on super hot days or at the beach on vacation. It just smells like sunlight!

Got this on sale so definitely worth it. To me, it's like if Missing Person were sunny and bright instead of cozy. When I see citrus notes I always think citrus pith (no idea why and can't imagine anything else) so I tend to avoid anything citrusy but this isn't like that. It's a bright airy musk. Like clean skin getting caught in a sun shower or line dried clothes on a breezy nearly summer day. Nice daily for warmer months.

This smells literally like Italy in summer, with a campari spritz in your hand looking out at the sea. I love it but it’s super strong and very unisex, and what I mostly smell is the neroli. It smells like a rich middle-aged woman on vacation, and her husband has the lingering scent on as well, from her embraces.

Goes on like a tan lotion or sun cream. It settles down into a musky scent. I suspect Phlur uses a recipe similar to Missing Person as the base for many of their fragrances because after 30ish minutes they all smell similar. Some may find that annoying but I think it’s a good quality if you want a subtle change.

I really like the opening. It’s not too much Jasmine and I get a grape smell. Not sure about longevity but it is giving me a fresh, light floral scent. The citrus blends well and does not overpower anything. A well blended fragrance. The smell reminds me of “Rub Rub Rub” scrub by Lush.

This smells sooooo much like a cheap Mary-Kate and Ashley perfume I had when I was a kid (Coast to Coast). It’s very fresh and aquatic but doesn’t smell very mature. I literally love it so much just for the nostalgia, I’m probably not the best judge of it overall because of that.

A pretty easy going orange blossom with neroli. I don't get a sunscreen vibe. Smells like an orange grove in bloom near a beach while gathering driftwood. I'm not getting smacked in the face with solar notes either thank God! This is nicely done summer simplicity at its best.

To me, this smells very similar to Gucci Flora Gorgeous Jasmine. If you have one, you won't need the other. The jasmine is also very strong and the note that stands out the most for me.

The opening is a bit screechy, but the drybdown smells like Dreft baby detergent.

This is not it. I am a summer fragrance fiend, so I decided to try this. Knowing phlur, i thought it would be a somewhat boring but decent smelling fruity floral. Well...the opening got the citrus down. Not my favorite scent but it is bright and solar if you will. However, the dry down is literally nothing. It’s an EDP that disappears after the top notes. I don’t really understand. Obviously it’s there after a while but it doesn’t smell like much. I’m just unimpressed on all fronts, and that’s ok. For the purpose it serves, there are much better citrus white florals out there

Solar power smells like a white floral, citrus scent! It cones together to create a sweet citrus that that smells clean, it reminds me of a lovely kind of body wash or lotion! It also kind of reminds me of Karma from Lush. However there isn’t a lot of complexity to this one, it is a straight up citrus white floral so if this is your combo this will be perfect! If you like something sweeter or are a gourmand lover this one may not be for you. I can appreciate it on others but for me this is not something I would reach for.

I don't know why I expected this to be more powdery TF Soleil Blanc-like. I get a lot of neroli/monoi/tiare, which starts out very lotiony-scented but calms down after it's on your skin. Clean fabric softener vibe that is unisex. Very low sillage and projection, sad to say. I love Hanami in this line and other earlier scents they made and will try Not Your Baby next. I appreciate the ethics and wish fragrances of this type could be stronger and more long-lasting in some magical way that maintained compassionate ethics.

I absolutely loved this when I first got it. It smelled like pure sunshine in a bottle. I think Phlur was having issues with the travel size manufacturing because despite repurchasing multiple times, the bottle kept leaking! Between the leaking and spraying it on my clothes instead of directly onto skin, the scent is now nauseating. It's a shame that it now reads as extremely synthetic to me, bc there was a time where I considered it to be such a mood-elevating fragrance. Sad.

Smells like a sunny day. One of the first citrus fragrances I haven't immediately hated. It's nice. It smells like I would recommend this to my grandma and wouldn't be offended every time she walked in the room. It smells like a floral summer dress from a UK high-street clothing store for middle-aged women. Like business casual. Like someone who is just always happy.

This smells like you’re wearing a freshly washed swimsuit and an unscented sunscreen. It’s a very clean summer scent. If you’re a sweet scent-Phlur lover, try mixing it with Soft Spot to make it a little sweeter. Edit: I’ve mixed this with Milk body mist from Bath & Body Works and it smells like Vacation EDT

If you love white florals that remind you of a bright sunny day, this is the one for you. I am not a white florals fan and so this does nothing for me. Also, the sillage and longevity are reminiscent of a long lasting body spray. I’ve only tested a few from Phlur, but I don’t think this is the house for me.

Orange blossom, jasmine, and sea salt dominate this scent for me. It's a pleasant floral fragrance, but I wish the citrus & musk notes were stronger. On drydown it reminds me of 4711 eau de cologne. I believe Solar Power is overpriced for its unremarkability.

Washing up liquid. Not a bad washing up liquid, in fact quite a nice citrus one, but this one is just too fake chemical synthetic for me. Not awful, definitely not something I'd spend good money on.

Definitely only suited for summer & daytime Smells exactly like sunscreen to me. Clean & fresh but definitely unscented sunscreen smell.

While this is perfect for spring and summer with its bright white florals and citrus, it isn’t for me. I prefer my citrus more distinctive-let the bergamot or mandarin show me that it’s bergamot or mandarin and not simply generic citrus. I also tend to skip white floral/citrus combos if they don’t include some heady notes. Floral fragrances like this remind me of decorative soaps and laundry detergent—aldehyde-heavy and overly sharp to my nose. Within 30 minutes, it has dried down to a straight floral perfume. It can’t disappear fast enough. It’s sad because the name had me thinking of a summer fragrance with maybe a slight tropical vibe. Not a typical sunscreen scent, but a beachy fragrance. Instead, “solar” is referencing the aldehydic qualities. That’s my fault for projecting my own ideas of a summer fragrance with this particular title.

This was a disappointment for me. I found it synthetic, metallic, bitter, and oddly brine-y. The composition, which features citrus, florals, and solar notes, seems to lean heavily on synthetic musks and ozonic accords, which can sometimes create a metallic or plastic-like effect. The salt and coconut, intended to evoke a sun-kissed, beachy feel, instead came across as sharp and brine-like, almost like seawater mixed with gone-off sunscreen. At least to my nose. Based on the reviews others have noted a similar artificial quality, with some detecting an almost “chemical” brightness rather than a natural warmth. Overall, it lacked the smoothness and balance I hope for in a solar scent.

Absolutely nothing - no scent. It’s for the people who can’t really WEAR perfume. Very light. Very soft. No major stand out notes. First spray. Gave absolutely nothing. I barely knew I had it on. Very very soft musk. Light jasmine. Dry down warms up the citrus and bergamot but that’s it. Very bland and boring (to me) someone who needs to SMELL a scent. I had hoped for a more marine musk to bite more however. This is not that. There will be a market for this / the ones who can’t really do scents and need something soft. Office friendly. Light. Or may have allergies. However for me. This is a return. No thanks.

I was looking for a unique summer scent and tried a sample of this for a day. I almost got the ‘dried sea salt on skin in the sunshine’ scent I was seeking, there was definitely a hint of that there, but unfortunately it was someone else’s skin. I get the salt, with an underlying aldehyde ?? In any case, it really didn’t work on me. Definitely recommend that you try this before you buy, it might v much depend on skin chem and your nose. Edit to add: agree longevity was good (a little too good). I washed it off after nearly 3 hours. Projection is minimal, this is a very light scent.

Beachy, sunscreen scent that I initially liked but it virtually disappears completely after an hour. Went through an entire travel size in 2 weeks over the summer because it never lasted long enough. A lot of it leaked out of the container as well. Nobody noticed the scent either. Extremely weak and disappointing especially because I did like the actual scent.

This is VERY musky. Not the best musk either, a bit sharp and animalic. Scratchy. This is a disappointment if you were expecting a beachy, solar neroli. Edit: I'm wondering if the bottle on display had turned? I'm seeing a number of reputable reviews saying that this smells pleasant, just weak.

This smells like suntan lotion in all the wrong ways. Its smells like the old suntalotion my mom used on us as kids very chemical. Thanks god this does not last long.

A screechy sunscreen scent. Doesn’t seem very well blended to my nose. I bought the travel spray and it leaks terribly every time I spray it. 👎

This was a miss for me. I’m picky with citrus-heavy scents, and the opening was too harsh/synthetic to get past.

Phlur must be held accountable for this crime. Don't let this one fool you, On blotter paper, it's actually a very pleasant citrus, solar fragrance. However, once it hit my flesh it took no more than 5 minutes to reveal it's true self. This smells like a battery tastes. It's like they asked the AI robots to create what they think a summertime fragrance should smell like and this is what they spit out. Acrid, synthetic, and metallic. The dry down is what your fingers smell like after holding onto spare pennies for too long. No wonder it's being discontinued.

I had a really strong negative reaction to this one. I’m still learning about fragrance, the art, the ingredients, the science. On me, this smells strongly metallic and salty, and made me gag (?!) a bit when I got too strong a whiff. The only ever perfume that’s happened with for me is Secretions Magnifique... I think it’s my body chemistry, not the perfume. I burn to a crisp at the beach and tend towards woody, leathery, vanilla type things. Just a bit of a wild experience for me.

they discontinued this, but you can still get it in phlur's sample set if you really want to try it still. unfortunately i'm really not a fan of aldehydic scents in general, and this one seems way too overpowering. the citrus and white florals are too subtle behind the overwhelming plasticy, salty, metallic mess. i really don't understand why anyone would want to wear this. i can see why it was discontinued, unlike apricot privee i think it was absolutely justified.

Smells like every other citrusy-sunscreen scent... if you're in the market for that profile, this is a rather-affordable option. Nothing innovative or particularly interesting though. The opening is extremely offensive though. The aldehydes have a metallic undertone that smack you in the face. It's too upsetting of an opening to get over for the mid and base. I just don't get this. Rating: 3/10

Oh I hate this. Wow I dislike this so much. It smells like feet somehow. This does not smell like sun tan lotion or sunscreen on me like I had hoped! Sour, bitter, juice that turned bad when left too long in the fridge. Putting orange juice in lactose free milk. Not for me at all.
