L'esprit Impur

Sweet, mystical spearmint and peppermint swirl and lure me into the forest of Baba Yuga. Where the grass and the mint grow high and the mythical Witch of the Woods seems to use both to craft this marvelous scent. It’s sparklingly herbaceous, soothing, and energetic all at once. I’m a firm believer in this l’esprit impur and have been since I first applied it in March of this year. Now, the bottle is running low and I’ll need to acquire more from Pictura Fragrans!

Wow, the opening of this is REALLY refreshing, but in a good way, lots of mint and cypress. My favorite part about this fragrance is when it starts to dry down, you still can smell the mint but much less, the barley note with the mushroom and bacon gives it a cozy feeling ( don’t worry about the bacon note, it barely pops out and it blends really well with the rest of the notes ) . Smell: 9/10 Bottle: 9/10 Performance: 10/10 Inspiration: 9/10 Overall: 9/10

It certainly does tell a story, and the story is fun to hear, it's like someone has just been to Russia and is sharing their impressions - man it's cold, they have borscht, beer, forests, swampy beasts, you know... The mint is overwhelming, and I do hear a lot of bacon in the middle. It's less of a forest witch and more of Stimorol with bacon Lays, with a hint of beer, which makes it the bright side of every slavic squat XD It starts loudly, almost aggressively, and settles down warmly and long-lastingly, so that's all you need to know about a Russian.

This one was super interesting; it changed a lot after having it on my skin for 3 hours. After applying, I got this weird bacon note, but it quickly faded and instead transports you into this mossy swap-like scent with dill at its strongest; after about 15 minutes, it entirely does a 180 into this beautiful cold and fresh mint scent. I'll give it a few more wears to see if I genuinely need a bottle.

Whew! I had high expectations for this one. When I saw that there was a perfume with a bacon accord I had to sample it ASAP. Here's what I have to say ultimately: The mint and snow is VERY clear in the first sniff; like almost too much... Kind of vicks vaporub vibes. I let it sit for a few hours and the 'snow' accord evaporates and barley starts to come through which was a welcomed reprieve. Sadly, I didn't notice any bacon smell or toast which disappointed me because I wanted to smell like a warm meal. It did last forever! A very good quality perfume, despite my sadness for the lack of bacon.

It smells like eating toothpaste with bacon. 10/10.
