Costume Liquide 14.2

This is the most special of the PG samples I received with my order, and a rare perfume where the listed notes all actually show up. Very hot peppery opening that settles into a soft, powdery floral heart without losing the warmth of the opening. The licorice and pepper of basil balances very nicely between the floral, earthy and spicy notes. Iris feels very real here, occasional waves of that beautiful chocolatey scent coming through the squeaky-clean peony. The “stormy” accord really works here - very loud and quite harsh opening making way for a gentle heart with the smell of ground after rain. Quite a few notes in common between this and the sadly discontinued CK2, one of the best and weirdest mainstream scents I’ve encountered - this is like a woods after rain to CK2’s wet concrete. Think it’d be really beautiful on a clear, cold day.

I received this as a sample with my order from ZGO perfumery, who i love!!!! Anyway this is a very nice fresh fragrance that i would like to smell on a man. Not that the right woman couldn't pull this off. But it is very masculine to my nose. So guys you should give this one a go this summer!!!

Not bad. I'm getting unlisted aldehydes in the opening which lend it an Iris Poudre quality, although it's far less arresting (and so much easier to wear) than Iris Poudre. It lacks the playful side of many ofher PGs but I think that's a strength.

Many similarities to Bois Imperial, which I also feel neutral about. I get a big smack of pepper in the top. Alongside the basil and violet leaf it feels metallic, or maybe like a very shiny, wet plastic. Spicy, herbal, and a bit aquatic feeling. I don't get a huge iris impression, but the peony note is there. Further into the drydown that synthetic peony, which I assume is Petalia, sticks around and becomes slightly annoying to me as it does in Bois Imperial and ELDO's Hermann (both exclude the note on fragrantica but it can be found mentioned in other places). It's very noticeable and diffuses well into a subtly rosy, fresh floral sillage. The lack of a big iris component is an odd misdirection by the brand in my opinion. It's not a typical powdery, suede-like, or rooty rendition of it, and the peony outshines it as the top floral aroma. In fact if you didn't tell me it was in here I wouldn't have guessed it. Perhaps I don't understand this type of iris though.

I bought it during the hot summer of 2023 and thought it was the perfect fresh unisex frag. The green beginning makes it upliftig and the dry down is very elegant, almost classical (but still original). It always let this subtle feeling of a liquid veil on my skin.The peony note, thought, comes a little bit to forward when it's too hot. I tried it this winter, wanting something to remind my the warmth of summer. And it's beautiful in the crisp days! I must say I almost prefer it so, because it stays subtle and the peony/feminin aspect fades a little. (I'm a woman but I'm just not much into "pink florals"). As always with PG, the name is perfect !

I think Costume Liquide 14.2 Pierre Guillaume Paris is a wonderful classy masculine scent, that could be an ideal one for the lovers of woody-spicy formal and mature scents. On me it sounds very refined and elegant. It reminds me of 3 particular fragrances: Straight to Heaven By Kilian - in the cedar direction, Bentley Infinite Intense EDP - in the pepper/benzoin direction, and Terre d'Hermes - in the cold fresh vetiver direction.. Costume Liquide 14.2 it's not exactly like these, but it can be put in that woody family. It is very versatile and would suits well in any situation. Thumbs up from me - wonderful men scent.

Usually I like sweet, woden smells, but I am absolutely in love with this smell - very light smell, suitable for day and evening wear.Reminds me of the smell of moss an forest.
