Jangala

This is one of the most unique scents in my collection and I'm absolutely obsessed with it! I first had a sample of it, when I was just getting into fragrances. Back then I couldn't really differentiate the notes that well, and so my first association with this perfume was Aiden, from Sex and the City, when Carrie meets him in Abu Dhabi at the market. It smelled to me like a sexy, tanned man in an unbuttoned white linen shirt, slightly sweaty, in a dusty, hot far away place. I absolutely fell in love with it. Now that I own a bottle of it and have more experiences with scents, I totally get all of the notes and it feels more like a dense green fragrance, but also still like a maroccan spice market. Definately unisex for me! I love wearing it in summer day to night :) It has great sillage and lasting power! Love that perfume house!

Near miss for me - unsweet beachy coconut with sandalwood and a whiff of vegetation usually does it for me, and it initially does promise a gentle but classy dip into tropical waters. But the eucalyptus and vetiver took it on a slightly sweaty swerve into men's aquatic/cologne territory on drydown - as some others report. Never obnoxious but somehow that interesting inflection turned troubling, and the lusciousness of coconut doesn't really come through. I'll sit on the seashore and wait this one out.

Fleurs de longoses traslates as Kahili ginger, found in the Himalayas. Its leaves and flowers are very aromatic and it is possible to extract an essential oil from them. It comes across as a lot more 'flower-y' than the usual ginger (at least to my nose). This is the predominant note that I get throughout. So, it's actually a very light summery scent. Rather lovely.

This is the only Pierre Guillaume I've even remotely liked. That said, it lacks complexity for me. The coconut is not intriguing enough and ends up smelling a bit basic.

After wearing it for days, here is my final analysis: IT IS NOT AN EXISTING COCONUT IN NATURE. Here there is cream, vanilla, cream and god only knows what else. Eucalyptus? Sandal? Why say coconut if then the coconut is a dessert on the edge of disgust? Disappointment.

Very sweet, but also bitter, tart and astringent, like stevia aftertaste. Causes a wet skin sensation, but at the same time the feeling of dehydration. It is comprised of very fresh notes, but it's the opposite of a fresh scent. It gives me a feeling of sticky salty-sweet moist on the skin. I also get an impression of a luxury frag, as the scent seems very familiar, but I can't pinpoint what exactly it is. I thought about Womanity, but no. It's definitely one with fig/cedar combo though. What's interesting about this fragrance - some reviewers here and on YouTube pointed out that despite the possible negative aspects, it's extremely addictive, it sinks into the subconscious and you want to smell it again and again. And I must agree with this, this is what happens to me also. Speaking about negative aspects, I don't like the drydown (otherwise I'd certainly buy a big full bottle). In the base it turns into something chemical, dusty, men's cologne-like (something like Play EDT from Givenchy). Idk what it is that smells like this, maybe cedarwood with ISO-e super. Maybe it's what's supposed to be ginger. Or maybe it's just my personal sensitivity to certain components. But I love it anyway, it's a very interesting, intriguing perfume that really transports you into the jungles.

Refreshing eucalyptus, a dash of sexy ginger and a very soft, white coconut. Although the inspiration of humid jungles is clear, this is a remarkably refreshing fragrance. It's all eucalyptus at first, but the herbs soon start to make their presence felt. They're subtle - everything about this is subtle - but they add an interesting layer to the story this tells. It goes from something that's a nice, refreshing hot weather scent to something that's still that, but with an added "hmm, where have you been?" The sillage is soft and the longevity is around 7 hours. It doesn't beat Long Courrier for me, which is my favourite in this line, but it does get on to my full bottle wishlist. My only complaint is that the Croisiere Collection are all supposed to be aquatics, and of the 3 I've tried, only Long Courrier meets that genre. As one of the least popular types of scents, that likely won't be a problem for most people, but I'm a bit disappointed that the claim was for 4 brand new aquatics and that's not quite what we got. Still though, this is very, very nice and I love wearing it.

Jangala is most definitely my personal standout amongst the new Guillame's Croisiere Collection. A lactonic non-gorumand coconut paired to a thin, and yet quite remarkable, balsamic eucalyptus note while a cleverly dosed ozonic accord provides transparent facets without driving the fragrance towards the aquatic. It sounds odd but it really works. it's an effortlessly original opening that's both exotic and unique while avoiding to result either over the top or weird. One of those accords that you smell once and you don't forget. The drydown is more conventional but still pretty enjoyable. A light-handed woody base that with its cold minty-vanillic facets is not too far removed from Fahrenheit 32...only smoother and more creamy. All in all, this is a quiet, close to the skin fragrance with a nice sense of restraint that's easy to like and even easier to wear. Very nice. Rating: 7/10

I know this “teal” line was promoted as one that sidesteps the horror that is calone, but I still find them to be brazenly synthetic and harsh. This one is positively nauseating, bordering on physically painful. It’s a chemical “exotic" scent — the kind of thing you’d scent a car with, only the “chemical” is ramped way up. The best way I can describe it is that it merges a dated, men’s aromatic cologne with the kind of white musk and milk accord you might find in hair conditioner; it’s basically like sweet camphor crossed with a cleaning product. Within 20 minutes, it’s a pedestrian, vaguely ambroxan base. I’d scrub it, but it scrubbed itself first. Awful.

with this you really will smell like your in some forest. it smells very steamy is that makes sense. Very creative and lasts a very long time easy 10 hours from two sprays to the neck. best time to wear this would be year round but not a hot summer day but summer evening is ok to me this is best for spring. It is a very strange one.

This is lovely. Not overly suntan lotion-ish coconut, counterbalanced with fresh eucalyptus and creamy sandalwood. Very evocative of a vibrant green jungle with coconut trees. Moderate longevity and sillage. Regret not grabbing a bottle when I was in Europe.

Smells aquatic a bit seaweed esque so the bottle colour is very fitting. Eucalyptus and cardamom and coconut? Where?? To me this is the ocean, sweet wet salty seaweed. More coconut flesh on the drydown.

Well... it's a metallic watery citrus coconut fragrance with a slight woody notes.

Creamy sandalwood and fresh jelly coconut. Beautiful!
