Manguier Metisse

Apparently I'm the oddball, I really like this! First of all it has great longevity on me, and that my friends is extremely rare. I can still smell this fragrance on my skin after 8 hours (the only other fragrance that has this longevity on me is Tom Ford Noir pour femme). This smells like sweet fruits but not at all like Escada or a typical celebrity fragrance. Menguier Metisse has depth and (at least for me) a creative vibe that evokes curiosity. This fragrance is something different. The sillage is moderate and I think that it's a pretty inoffensive scent. No overpowering notes and even though there is sugar listed in the notes it doesn't feel cloying og sirupy. Full bottle worthy for me!

Absolutely adore Metisse. It is like fruity-sweetened version of Terracota Le Parfum Guerlain, such a smooth skilfully blended mixture from Pierre Guillaume. I was wearing it three times already, always in a very windy weather, sprayed on long summer scarf and many people commented on my perfume in shops, at the dentist, everywhere really - they call it young, vibrant, happy, unusual, - probably my most complimented fragrance so far. Very well-lasting and projects for miles.

I smell an intense creamy mango, yes it's sweet but I love it. I feel the creaminess is actually coming from the frangipani, which I normally hate in scents but here it's a smoothing scent rather than the full on floral scent. Might have to purchase a FB soon.

I'm a fan of Pierre Guillaume. Aquasos blew me away as very unique and refreshing. I bought Myrrhiad and Liqueur Charnelle which are lovely but somewhat generic. I asked for a sample of this long wanting to try a mango scent and eyeing a full bottle purchase possibly. This pleasantly affected me - not as feminine as its made out to be though definitely erring on the ladies side. The initial blast is very floral, very typically feminine - after half an hour the mango comes to the fore and the florals die down to a compliment ( I get no tea at all) and the woody notes (cedar become equally complimentary to make it more masculine and ground it. AT a distance it comes across as slightly woody not to sweet vanilla but up close it has the depth giving the not too sweet mango with a touch of smokiness. If you like gourmand and something to add variety and like mango I think you would be happy. Not in your face, just cheery and passably male scent - I struggle to think of an alternative. Much better than expected and as advertised. I'm toying up a bottle but admittedly its for a novelty if I do...

I fell in love with this immediately, a sweet tropical floral but not in a sickly way. I makes me feel good and on a constant summer vacay. The only reason that it's not a love in my rating is that newer bottles of this has lost something, which I can't pinpoint. It's still a nice fragrance but the wow appeal is no longer there. And the sillage is also a lot weaker.

Someone into floral-gourmand would be very happy with this. It really is a lovely blend of plumeria, mango (mango bark extract) and vanilla. But beware, there is musk lurking underneath it all, that pushes this to a better-than-most-gourmands level. Performance could have been better, but overall good enough.

I was expecting luscious fruit, but found something quite different. Banana, vanilla, uniting with jasmine. Dries down to a lightly floral sugary powder.

Summer fragrance. Expensive but very strong. Not classy. Similar to elle l'aime Lempicka but stronger

Floral banana toffee. Manguier Métisse opens with the bright, flavour-packed candied fruit note of frangipani but with an even bigger dose of what I took for neroli elevating it, orangey and uplifting but not listed so I could be hallucinating. As the neroli evaporates it gets steadily more and more yellow floral with ylang ylang, also not listed, making its presence felt. And in drying on skin it becomes a gourmand, a playful light toffee scent with accents of banana and frangipani. An undemanding treat.

Shares the sugary quality which is so dominant in Huitieme's Sucre d'Ebene. Here it is less intense but still a dominant note. Fruity, rather too sweet for me, bordering on syrupy which I really don't like. Makes me feel a little self-conscious. I wouldn't want people to associate this scent with me. It feels too immature. I think that's it, but I'm having trouble putting my finger on it. EDIT - Has a creamy, almost vanillic quality.

Fruity florals often don’t work with my chemistry and I never picked up on the promised mango. I had a hard time with the sweet synthetic opening, it passed quickly but the generic dry down never developed. Instead this goes in the direction of the faceless designer perfume that I feel I have smelled many times before. Manguier Metisse is not a terrible fragrance....but it is terribly boring.

We have a vanilla sugar body spray from Walmart sitting in the bathroom at work. The ladies at work use it sometimes instead of an air freshener. This expensive perfume smells very similar to this if not exactly like it. Simple chemical sugar, unpleasant and harsh, nothing even remotely interesting.

Brings images to mind of an aunt of mine...gold jewellery, hair curled, always with a lovely scarf, never without full makeup and a cloud of perfume around her. In other words very feminine and pretty but perhaps a bit overdone.

I mean...it's ok. But I'm biased. I've yet to have found a powdery fragrance that I like. The sugar and mango isn't overwhelming but it's also kind of cheapy-weepy. It might be nice for daytime on a casual day.

I first smelled this as a sample with an order I placed on Pierre Guillaume’s website. It was an immediate love. A few months later I found this in the original bottle for a great price. I am obsessed with Pierre Guillaume’s perfumes and am overwhelmed with the amount of full bottles I want vs how many I can afford. Sound familiar? I bet a few of you can relate. The main note that sings from first spray is sweet frangipani. The mango is very sweet and syrupy with the perfect custard textured flesh. I’m drooling. I get a slight lipstick/ sugared violet vibe that gives me a classic feel. The powdery notes are light in feel (but are present in smell) and remind me of powdered sugar mixed with loose powder and soft fluffy musks. I get the powdered sugar from the sweetness, but also there is something light and cloud like in this. Like if some threw a box of powdered sugar in the air. This smells classic and contemporary to me. I think this would be mouth watering on a man, the wood notes keep it grounded. The frangipani is beautiful and I’m glad it wasn’t combined with coconut and/or having to compete with other florals. This frangipani is complemented by the other notes, and are not subdued by the other notes. This is a cozy cuddling sent. It’s definitely comforting and something I am currently enjoying wearing to bed. It definitely has a tropical leaning, but it works in this current cold winter in Seattle as well.

Oh, this is much sweeter than it has any right to be. I'm disappointed - I thought there would be more fruits and tea and less sugar ... Mango is noticeable in the top notes together with frangipani, I don't get any other fruits. As they vanish, pure sweetness comes and doesn't leave. Sugar, vanilla, butter, whatever you want. Sweet and rich. Exotic? Maybe. I've smelled it many times. Maybe only not that strong and persisting ... Definitely for gourmand aficionados. (I like some gourmands, but this is way too much). Great sillage and staying power of about 8 hours.

too artificial sweetness, the candy mango essence got involved in the scene with a mixage of flowery fruits, some light leather hazy note which is barely detectable, & slightly tea and wood in here. there is something bitter in here & i wonder what it is. maybe it's kind of mandarin or sweet grapefruits! it's not bad but as well it's not amazing. just give it more time to realize it clearly, and never sniff this in between other fragrances cause this fragrance has it's own category and remember this guy doesn't use cheap materials.

Huitieme Art - Manguier Métisse Strong opening of sugar and tropical fruits, especially mango as it's the main note! Then, we can get a sweet floral note that reminds me a sweeter jasmine plus some litte powdery notes that come by. We feel dry and smooth woody notes - no more floral or fruity accords here. Good one, but i think women will love it more... :D

I'm happy to have a small decant of this, and very glad I didn't spend megabucks on a bottle!!! I usually don't mind a sweet powdery floral, however, it is just a little too sweet for me. A lady in her 20s might wear it better, and I can't really see many gents finding it appealing to wear themselves.

A dainty-sweet frangipani scent, bits of citrus and and something herb-like in the background, and, unfortunately, not much else going on. It looked and sounded good on paper, but didn't live up to expectations for me...
