Naiviris

I’m surprised by all the negative reviews as this is gorgeous and by far my favorite of the many I have tried from Pierre Guillaume. Also, the comparisons to makeup, powder and old fashioned scents are off the mark. On me this is a very modern, skin type of scent but with a touch of wood and iris. It’s subtle but long lasting and quite beautiful. The wood is reminiscent of sandalwood but is probably a synthetic. It’s creamy, musky and, to my nose at least, slightly fruity. I find it quite wearable but all of these “skin” type of scents are so skin and nose dependent you just have to try to see if it suits you.

Visit equatorial Africa with Naiviris. A neat oriental iris perfume made with neither amber nor iris. Instead it features a Kegalia Africana tree extract, aka red amber, an exotic rare material which smells a lot like classic amber without patchouli and a powdery musky iris at the same time. The tree is native to the Central Africa and is also called sausage tree because of the shape of its enormous fruit. Wear Naiviris for an imaginary walk among baobabs.

This is my favorite-right now! It's different in a good way,soft and billowy and gives me hope. I say that because i have been so disappointed for so long in looking for a fragrance that speaks to me.Agree with Olfractallnfemm it is well blended and i do now smell the waxy smell-I'm not very poetic as you can tell.With this fragrance i could take a whole spray.

I am surprised with negative reviews about this perfume..I must say I loved from first spray . I smell rose-iris in the opening, powdery and woody and very comfortable to wear, maybe I would like it more powerful but it is like this I like! thumbs up!

I saved the best for last. This is my favorite scent of the line. Soft, ever so sweet iris, blended amicably with the carrot-like root. Fresh, pleasant and vaguely woody, reminding me of a new shop. I see this more as a feminine fragrance. Lovely. I only wish it were a tad stronger.

It reminds me of my Grandma's old lipstick. It's very powdery and a little sweet. If you like cosmetic smells then it will be a good choice for you. For me, it's not what I'm looking for in a perfume. It was still there the morning after I tested, so great longevity.

Anyone else think it smells a little more like a rose/iris combo in the opening? It might just be because it's SO powdery but this is not a straight Iris and not really an enjoyable scent for me. It smells quality sure and has the longevity you'd expect but for me it's another uninspiring super powdery scent. I like Iris but not in this fragrance I get an almost suncream vibe too which I associate with myrtle. I wouldn't wear this...no complexity and not woody in the way I like...I'll give it a miss. Update 06/01/23 How dumb is the above review? I can scarcely believe I'm talking about the same fragrance I experienced yesterday, but it is the same one, the very sample I got at the time, so no danger of reformulation or anything. For starters the Iris in this is powdery and vegetal but it has a unique character and the way it's been paired with the woody notes in here, (Zebra wood/sausage tree whatever) is a revelation!!! To be honest I DO get that twang of patchouli/saffron and something distinctly resembling an oud/rose perfume after the initial Iris calms, but never goes away and that's the element which softens and brings the whole composition together. I think it's a case of similar materials giving those effects, and coming together to resemble something familiar but still elevating it somewhat. A very good, progressive perfume, I loved it! 2014 me is a fucking moron!

Perhaps my sample was too small to really get a good feel for Naiviris but I didn’t get anything resembling the iris notes I am familiar with from scents like Iris Silver Mist, Irisss, Purple Rain, Demeter Iris, L’Attesa, Nacre, or Bois D’ Iris among many others. Instead I got a very short-lived natural wood resin smell akin to something from an apothecary, medicinal and difficult to appreciate due to it’s unfamiliarity. There are alot of scents that take several tries to get familiar and to wrap your head around and sometimes they eventually click and become quite addictive. I will have to give this another go in the future for any final verdict. However, first impressions are of something quite different than the listed notes suggest. A medicinal-smelling, vaguely powdery, exotic tree oil from the Whole Foods Wellness aisle is all I have experienced thusfar.

Iris has never been my thing, so I sometimes think why do I even bother to try out anything with iris in it and in this one it's even the main note, but ok, let's put my hate for iris aside and see what we have here. I'm not saying it's bad, just on my skin it feels extremely weird, it started out as a chemical wood polish and then turned to the smell of an old powdery lipstick, but I've heard that people seem to enjoy the smell, so if you are one of those give Naiviris a try. I couldn't actually imagine this on a man as I find this to be too powdery and sweet for a man to wear. All in all - i find this a bit too weird for me to enjoy it. Pitty. But maybe it's just me and iris not getting along again.

Despite my general love for iris centered fragrances, I am bound to say that this perfume is completely useless. Just like the reviewer below: I'm not sure whether there's something wrong with my sample, but this is as close to skin as it gets. No development, no radiance and sadly no character whatsoever. I guess it puts it into the "safe" category. Another category is the "skin scent", whereas there's no "my skin BUT BETTER" extension. Vaguely powdery, vaguely carroty and not much more than that. One thing it could be perfect for: bedtime. A good fragrance for perfume sensitive people. It's just not there. EDIT: Today I sprayed it all over one of my fabric fans. It stayed on all day with that faint sandalwood. It was nice for an hour or so, but then something started bothering me. I generally love both iris and sandalwood, and let's just say that this perfume doesn't work well with my skin, or it may be the extremely hot weather, and let's just say that I may have been too radical calling it useless... so I'll try to behave and call it "a completely redundant fragrance". Ok, so the "woodsy notes" from the description above are supposed to be zebrano wood. For the pure sake of information, I will cite the text from the manufacturer's sample card: "Passionate and woody, fatally red of course...A lover's tryst between African Red Orris (Kigelia Africana), with its spicy powdery aroma and the warm throbbing essence of Zebrano wood."

This one reminded me of a mish-mash of both the homme and femme Paco Rabanne 'Ultraviolet'. It had the dainty violet-musks of the femme version, and the woody-smooth elements of the homme version. The synth musks and Nasomatto woods work really REALLY well with the iris-violet elements here, but I'm unsure if this works well enough to buy, you know? I mean, it functions quite well as a scent, (maybe playing a little too close to the skin, though), but there's not enough heft behind it. I'm gonna come back to it at least once more, but whilst I like it, I don't feel it works for me...

If naiviris was a color, it would be white. A soft carroty iris with clean musks. This perfume whispers intimacy and comfort. If you're an iris lover, you should have this one in your collection.
