Brutal

What I smell is Sanbitter-soaked, bright red juice flowing off of ivory, star-shaped florets, fleshy and opulent, but with a Dietrich disposition. Brutal treads between the precise and the decadent. There are severe angles as seen from the window, flicked ashes on in a tartan beanbag tray and coarse, exposed concrete. Ahhh, I am having a Melitta pour-over, definitely with some cream. Some Edith Piaf with a pop and crackle on the player, and scrawled Joan Didion quotes on coffee-stained stationery: "memory fades, memory adjusts, memory conforms to what we think we remember.” I might suggest switching from Piaf to Ames: "Try to Remember, that time in September." You say its corny, I say its sexy. Try me. Brutal is the smoke and mirrors that obscures reality, but what a divine smoke and mirrors, if I may say so: a bit intoxicated, but still sharp enough to produce a quip, doped up on a dose of tuberose, oh—now THAT is the cream in my coffee. How can something smell both so warm and yet so incisive? Teeth-grazing-pearls texture, licking lips that have been hyped up and boozed out, but still looking as luscious as ever. It's got a body the shape of the Guggenheim and an interior that feels like the flat of the editor-in-chief of ArtForum on a Sunday afternoon. This is smells like nostalgia for when messy-sexy was not "curated" and intellectualism allowed for some blue humor not to mention what we once called "political incorrectness." We could appreciate Degas, Rothko, and Duchamp all at once and find our tribe at the smoky after hours. "A Negroni, please." It was brutal.

It is the essence of the ‘70s and ‘80s, decadence told through notes that resonate like images from old fashion editorials. It opens sharply, unpredictably—orange blossom offers the illusion of innocence, only to be shattered by dark, seductive coffee, while the enigmatic neuron note crackles like electricity, as if something unforgettable is about to unfold. At its heart, tuberose breathes in opulent waves, creamy and sensual, supported by exotic ylang-ylang and velvety rose. It is the scent of silk against skin, of a warm glance in dim lighting, a note that lingers like the echo of past nights. The base is powerful and relentless—bourbon tobacco brings the bitterness of unspoken words, sandalwood provides warmth like a touch through smoke, and amber leaves a trail like the last glimmer of light before dawn. Conclusion: Brutal is for those who seek more than a scent—they seek a story. For those who admire the aesthetics of the past but do not imitate it; they carry it effortlessly, unapologetically. This is a fragrance of a moment that cannot be recreated, yet will never be forgotten.

I got three samples today.. Bodha Earth I put on my skin on one wrist and on the other I put Papyrus Oud 71. Bodha Earth was immediately a skin scent. PO71 was stronger. I then sprayed BRUTAL on a paper and it was indeed that. Only a little bit must have gotten on my fingers but it keeps now dominating the other two for hours. Brutal is strong but very good. Not for men but for a strong woman. I think it can be a bit much but I will leave that for the women to decide. What I can say is that it is high quality, quite unique, well blended and a lot. It is indeed BRUTAL.

A stunning work of wearable art. So original and well blended, yet familiar in its vision! Amber-hued printed magazines, indeed. The strong amber trail reminds me of Mugler's Alien quite a bit, and I mean that in the best possible way. However, Brutal's complexity, masterful play of vibrant notes and confidence-boosting blunt challenge are all its own and make it my favorite sweet-ish amber fragrance of late. Memorable.

What's this spam in the reviews ?! Brutal is extremely well done and evocative of the era it's inspired of. No need to send an army of fake reviewers to artificially inflate its reputation. It doesn't need that and this does a disservice to the brand. I hate what the fragrance community has become.

Really interesting combination of tuberose and tobacco with hints of coffee. Orange blossom and green herbal notes keep the tuberose fresh and prevent it from being overwhelming. Smells like a café in Cuba after dark.

Pure art in a bottle. Never smelled tuberose like this before. After my sample is done I'm going to the store and buying a bottle. I don't even care that it leans more feminine than what I would normally wear. 11/10

If you want people to notice your scent I think this is the perfect choice.

Oh, wow! I tried this perfume because of patriotic reasons and didn't expect much about the composition, however it is quite a remarkable scent! Opening is sweet, feminine - and almost immediately...brutal. Roasted coffee, tobacco and ylang-ylang, which is rich and wild. There is monumentality indeed - the architectonic era, theme of this perfume, is present. Not my cup of ...bourbon, but definitely impozant. --- Strong projection, longevity 7-8hrs. I'd wear it at autumn-winter season.

I've just had a lesson in how fragrances can vary on different people. My friend and I are sharing the Sniph advent calendar, and Brutal is day 1. We both sprayed on paper, and both liked the floral notes, but couldn't detect any coffee or tobacco. Then on skin, it was just a tuberose/soap bomb on her, whereas on me I got the coffee straightaway and then the floral notes came out. Now I'm getting the amber and sandalwood in the drydown, really nice.

this is a very strong perfume, the opening notes of orange blosson and coffee accord are so bitter and fun, and it settles into this beautiful flowery scent. Though ill say the bottom notes of tobacco bourbon delair and sandalwood got lost for me amongst the strong flower scent that permeates the middle coreds

Smells like toilet refreshner to me :(

Oh no..I just got some samples from this house and well, as I was expecting a lot, I am unfortunately very disappointed. I really wanted to like this, but it smells like airplane bathroom on me! I just can't wear this. I had to wash it off.. I will try to macerate it and will give it another try in autumn/winter though... UPDATE: I left that sample to macerate for some months and i gave it to my husband and I have to say that it smells absolutely incredible on him! I really started to like it I think.. very unique blend..! But still hate it on me though:) oratorio and Paradiso are my favs

I got it in sniph advent calendar. This is one of the worst fragrance i ever have smelled. It’s something that make me feel sick to my stomage. I think it is the tobacco rose and lyang lyang. It is super floral but also have extreme tobacco heavy. It is not a fragrance for me sadly. But i love paradiso from pigmentarium. But for me this is a 1/10

Pretty animalic but is rounded off by sweet booze and tobacco
