Classic Vanilla

Ladies and Gentlemen, Today I would like to introduce you my favorite scent. This Fragrance is probably one of the most underrated scent of all time (At least from scents I know). This scent is pure elegance in the bottle. It has absolutely amazing powdery-vanila (maybe a bit animalic at start because of musc) scent, which get then some spice and florality to it. It is a really sophisticated scent. I would not say, that his scent, that it has something really masculine like another classic aftershaves, but it is not feminine as well. The one more thing, I`ld like to say is, that this fragrance has a sort of "rich" - I personally hate, when people say sexy or rich about parfums - scent to it; it is not a uncomplicated type of scent, but something really special and unique. I quite sure as well, that in case, it will be a bit more concentrate, will have not a plastic bottle, but a lovely glass bottle and will say it costs 20–30 euro, people will buy it and think "what a lovely "dapper" scent I bought!" Unfortunately, it lasts not as long, as would like, but I can say, that it is kind of all right. Typical cologne-type of aftershave. About price everything is fine as well. In Germany, you can get it for 12 Euro, if you live in the US, than for you it will be 8 US-Dollars for you what is kind of nice! Bottle is sort of okay; typical clubman bottle. But! In my opinion it is one of the most elegant bottle of hole line. It has a good color-combo I guess. I would recommend it for everyone, who like elegant, old-fashioned scents. Warning: In my experience, I at start did not like at all, buy I gave it time and sit is kinda of became good! P.S. In case, you know some scents, which simmular to it, I would to hear you advances!

Pinaud Clubman Classic Vanilla... ...is a bit misleading as people might think it would smell like a Pillsbury vanilla cookie dough. No, not quite...it reminds me of a classic chypre style cologne and it reminds me a bit of Lucky Tiger Bay Rum which in fact is not really a bay rum. Neither does it contain bay leaves nor cloves and Lucky Tiger just used the term "bay rum" for their own chypre cologne. The words bay rum , cologne and aftershave have been used in the past interchangeably for many scented waters. A true Caribbean bay rum had to be made from bay leaves, cloves, spices and alcohol( sometimes real rum). I have never owned Rive Gauche but i can vaguely remember what it smelled like and the comparison to Classic Vanilla doesn't seem to be far fetched. But IMHO it shares a core with Lucky Tiger Bay Rum. Overall a very nice classic aftershave/ cologne.

my favorite aftershave in my rotation, and one i'd happily buy an EDT of if such a thing existed. great for all weather and occasions, pairs great with other fragrances too. i like matching it with sauvage and other blue fragrances, it mingles well with the ambroxan. also pairs great with anything floral.

I'm a fan. Aside from the traditional barbershop fragrances that I love, this is just an added bonus to my collection. I ordered it blind but due to the fact that it's so inexpensive, there wasn't much worry about not liking it or what to do if I didn't. First off, even though it's listed as "classic vanilla", it's not the type of vanilla I expected. I expected a strong, sweet vanilla along the lines of a tonka / vanilla heavy cologne, similar to Givenchy Pi. Surprisingly, I didn't get that. This is a far more light, very subtle vanilla. You can tell there is vanilla mixed in but in truth, it's a blended player, rather than a dominant forefront. I don't really detect spices or lavender - I mostly detect a hint of a vanilla combined with an almost metallic jasmine but as the fragrance dries down, the metallic smell fades away. I use it more as a cologne splash after I shower with a clean, fresh smelling soap, as opposed to the after shave that it is. While it stays very close to the skin, the longevity is surprising for what it is. I'm getting 4-6 hours out of it but then again, I'm applying it a bit heavy and can get away with it, because it's so light and unobtrusive. Admittedly, however odd it may be, since Pinaud doesn't make a shower gel with this scent, I ordered the shaving soap and will use that for showering, since the smell of the shaving soap is this classic vanilla. I've had some luck with longevity in light barbershop fragrances being extended this way, so I'll see how it works out. ** Update ** Received the Pinaud shaving soap and have been using it to shower. I have to say that it lathers very nicely (as expected, since it's shaving soap) and gets me very clean. When doing that and of course, using the after shave as more of a cologne and body splash, I've found that the sillage hasn't increased but the longevity has. Without the soap, longevity was about 4 hours. With the soap, it's about 6 hours.

I will likely update this a little in the future, as I expect that I will get more wear out of it when the weather warms up. As others have stated, the name 'classic vanilla' is a bit misleading... Vanilla is not a major player here. Instead, what you get is a light, bracing citrus (Bryan Ross says 'lime peel', and I think that he is spot on) and smooth lavender-tonka fougere accord. Oddly, I get the sweetness of talcum powder but really no 'powdery' sensation from this tight, green composition. The jasmine catches your breath a little (it's part of the freshness), while the sage nudges the fougere accord towards a nostalgia-inducing reference to manly green fougeres of yesteryear... The difference is in a smoother, rounder finish based on synthetic musk and -- I'd guess -- a touch of ISO-E Super; unlike the original Pinaud Clubman, there is no oakmoss in this bottle. The whole movement into the heart is really too light and abstractly synthesized to feel dated in a definitive way; in this sense, it is more of a fresh-forward lime-talc barbershop musk with a sheer but persistent touch. It actually feels quite modern: an eau de cologne opening followed by a light but linear synthetic, "woods"/musk combo that reminds me overwhelmingly of the so-called 'popsicle stick' woody accord some detect in Guerlain's classic Habit Rouge EDT. I think that this actually layers nicely as an aftershave with Habit Rouge, despite the fact that I am sentimentally fixated on the original Clubman, which feels much more the (lovable) dinosaur by comparison. "Classic Vanilla" is a well composed, discreet yet memorable aftershave as one is likely to find at this price point, but, despite its name, does not present as 'classic' a reference as its oldest-of-old-school progenitor. P.S. This would make an excellent A/S to pair with Boucheron's classic citrus EDT... The movement from a limey citrus to tidy woody musk is quite similar

I have most of the Pinaud aftershaves on my shaving shelf. This one is not great in the bottle. I decanted all my aftershaves into frosted glass spray bottles. I like all my scents to be sprayed, even after shaves ( not a splash guy). Within 10 days they all smelled much nicer. Especially Classic Vanilla. This bit of 20th century man-history is a nice surprise. Pinaud Clubman is the epitome of barbershop. This is not the same to my nose. This is more refined and parfum-y. I would wear this on a day I did not shave. It is good smelling. It is not rugged or an acquired taste. It is nice, clean, and attractive. I am a fan of vanilla. This is not a gourmand by any degree. I honestly do not really sense the vanilla. Vanilla really stands out to me in scents. This is an exception to that. I do not smell vanilla. Jasmine is the star here, I think. It is a handsome smell nonetheless. It smells best at skin temperature. I would not blind buy this. When I first tried this scent I did not care for it much. But after giving it a week I really started to appreciate it more and now enjoy it. As others have stated the scent for "Classic Vanilla" is a somewhat misleading. When I splashed this on I personally did not find any scent of vanilla and was expecting the scent to be sweet. The scent is more bitter and is very masculine. Would I buy this again? Yes, it is amazingly aimed for a classy gentlemen wearing a green jacket. Classic Vanilla is a great aftershave with a oriental fougere/chypre type feel (similar in concept to New York Intense). The sweetness reminds me of Chanel Pour Monsieur EDT, albeit in drug store form. There is a strong burst of alcohol initially (with a hint of a sour, marijuana like note) but it dies down quickly; the late drydown in particular is very pleasant. Performance is quite good for an aftershave, too. I got it for $6.30 on Amazon. In short, Classic Vanilla is an clearly cheap but thoroughly likeable knock-off of fragrances like Pour Monsieur, New York Intense, and Le 3e Homme.

This is not what I expected from a fragrance called 'vanilla'! Basically I get the DNA of the original but agree with steve below that says there is a metallic jasmine and lavender freshness, sage, and spice as listed but I get oakmoss and coumarin as well with some citrus up top. The vanilla is more just a smooth sweetness in the background. This smells surprisingly masculine and modern for what I was expecting. Not as 'creamy' as the original nor as long lasting but still good performance for an AS splash. For about $5 you can't go wrong with any pinaud products!

After drying on my hand, this reminded me of something I couldn't recall. I kept sniffing over and over and finally it came to me. Rive Gauche. Something about this reminds me of Rive Gauche. I've only smelled the 2003 sample I have. I think this is due to them sharing the notes of lavender and spices, plus the bergamot in my shaving soap. The shaving soap is inspired by Sauvage. Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Doppelgänger Black Label.

I get very little vanilla (if any). At the front, I smell more of a spiced, heady musk. I think I can pick up the hints of sage and jasmine that're listed in the fragrance notes. After lingering a bit, I start to smell faint traces of something plasticy/rubbery when close. Not enough to be annoying, though. Tried it in the winter. Not bad. Maybe better in smaller amounts.

it smells like straight up vanilla. not that's a bad thing. if you love the smell of pure vanilla, it's the perfect fragrance. it's a very classy and inoffensive scent at a great low price

I think this is one of the best rendering of Clubman,classy and a tad sweet,refreshing and mature.I wish it was a bit stronger.I can say it is my number 4 on the scale of preference.

To me this smells if someone turned Creed Viking into an after shave, without pink pepper. I can't complain.

Clubman Pinaud Classic Vanilla smells like a less sweet impression of CK Obsession for Men.

I have tried the original Clubman, the Virgin Island Bay Rum and the Classic Vanilla versions of Pinaud Clubman. Out of all the three, the vanilla is the one I like the most. I don't really get the vanilla notes here, it is just a nice generic synthetic male scent which fades away quickly. Once I run out of it, I won't buy it again.

I can't detect the vanilla nor lavender in this. Only plastic. Bad 3/10

Masculine and refined... This was a surprise for me. I originally bought it with the intention to use it solely as an aftershave. However I have now realised it can be used as a type of light, eau de cologne scent. A very nice and refined mix of coumarin, lavender, spices and of course, vanilla. I love it! A really great mix and I am happy just wearing it casually or formally. It reminds me of the smell of a refined gentleman, maybe a grown up, mature smell, but that adds to it's heritage as a classic fragrance (like Old Spice or the masculine classics used in shaving etc). I would say this is a great one to use as an aftershave and cologne. The staying power is surprisingly very good. I am impressed. I would recommend it to the gentlemen out there as an example of a classic, elegant and refined smell and accessory to be used after shaving and also for general use. A really great find for me and one which I will be using for some time!

It's axiomatic that good aftershaves smell like other shaving accoutrements, like shaving cream and talc, and Clubman Classic Vanilla definitely delves into those territories. The original is very warm-musky and powdery; this one reminds me of the far drydown of Rive Gauche Pour Homme, mixed with a shot of Caron 3rd Man, achieving an impressive bittersweet tonka and talcum coolness, very aloof but sophisticated. It should also win an award for fastest drydown, burning through lime peel, lavender, jasmine, coumarin, tonka, and talc in thirty seconds flat. The talc lingers for an extra hour or so, barely perceptible. CCV vaguely resembles the original Clubman, but markedly subtler. If you're looking for a gourmand sugarbomb vanilla, look elsewhere; this is a fougere with the drydown of a wetshaver talc scent.

A surprise indeed. I never expected this to be a compliment getter - but it is! Jasmine is the main player, almost no vanilla or sweetness detectable. Perfectly suitable even for 35 °C days. While the original Clubman is somewhat musty-musky-oakmossy, I find it a bit dated - Classic Vanilla is truly timeless and never out-of-place. It's just alcohol and fragrance, so not too much use as an aftershave, but perfectly fit as a cologne.

I hated this one. I don't know where the vanilla is, but it's 100% screaming, herbal woody bug spray. It's terrible and I don't know what people are getting. Perhaps my super cheap plastic bottle let the juice go bad? Argh argh argh. I gave it away sealed into double zip lock bags so I wouldn't have to smell it.

Has very Mature smell,strong at first,then blends into personal musk,no harsh burn,has a skeptic which stops bleeding,used it on my mutton chops Good times... Personal Fav.
