Holy jackpot for the lovers of grassy oat fragrances. Beautifully sweet and calming yet effortless. Pineward knows how to tread that line between a pure gourmand and a more naturalistic outdoorsy fragrance. I asked for Hayloft for Christmas after spending the better half of this year wearing Shire but wanting something with better longevity. And oh boy- Shire and Hayloft are for sure in the same ball park yet completely different. Like Shire is right outside of Bilbo Baggins house on a crisp autumn morning and the scent of baked goods and dry leaves are mixing in the fresh air while sunlight just begins to re-warm the earth as it rises upon the horizon. But Hayloft on the other hand is like Shires richer sweeter older cousin: dry nutty grassy fragrance dripping with honey and comfort. I usually don’t like Almond notes in fragrance and while very distinct here, I love the way it blends with the hazelnut, oats, and honey. It’s like the perfect bowl of oatmeal and a cup of tea as you enjoy a quiet morning lazing in the hayloft of a barn.

Hayloft EDT - This is a beautiful green honeyed fragrance, the smell of fresh-cut hay on a farm with a distant smell of hazelnuts mixed with soothing lavender. I wore this today and was met with many compliments surrounding the uniqueness and relaxing manner of this fragrance. Well blended, meeting all the elements, and it is perfect to wear in the spring or summer, along with being office/work friendly. My dad and I both really liked this fragrance, and I might purchase it around Christmas to share it with him. I love this fragrance as it is very unique, and it brings me to a relaxed state of mind and paints a picture of beautiful farmland from a distant memory. It feels like a warm hug from a grandparent. Great scent, good performance, and reasonable prices, topped off with an interesting bottle. (Is Hayloft EDT really Shire? Im curious as I don't know what to add to my collection and both note breakdowns are similar) Scent: 9.5/10 Longevity: 8/10 Projection: 6/10 Price: 7/10 Final Rating: 9/10

This opens with a sweet, airy, vanilla like oat scent. They’re powdery and sweet grains, and a dusty wheat smell follows. It smells like sacks of grains sprinkled with sugar, the breeze blowing their aroma past. This is also very nutty, you get very prominent toasted almond, and it’s specifically toasted, it’s got a warmth to it. The hazelnut is a dryer nutty accord but it works. The honey in this is fresh since it’s a lavender one, and this honey feels like a syrup. It’s not warm and heavy or rich, it’s light, sweet, and cooled. The grass and hay keep this from being too overpowering, or too sweet, it grounds it with a fresh earthiness. This is a barn loft filled with sacks of nuts, oats, and hay, with sweet jars of honey on shelves above, and grass billowing in the wind outside.

Love love love this stuff. I bought the fall 2025 set and initially put this off to the side in favor of Pastoral and Shire and Cotswold. Pretty much drank my sample of Akero. Sure wanted to. Smelled just like a nice bottle of Jones Green Apple Craft soda. I took a few months to enjoy other fragrances, then came back to my Pineward set and oh my god. Wore Hayloft one time at work and the depth and the density just stunned me. Most fragrances hit you in the nose and then sit in the background of your day, but Hayloft fills the space you're in for a moment and then it quiets down and kindly follows you around for hours. I love Hayloft. Sort of smells like buttercream frosting.

One of my new favorites from Pineward. On open its this sticky, waxy, crystallizing honey that could be too sweet for some. After it drys a bit I can pick up on that dry grassy note. The whole ordeal is a hot sunny romp in a wild flower field in late summer. Like snacking on gobs of honeycomb out on the farm under a blazing sun. It's dreamy and yummy and a must for all honey lovers like me. There is a faint floral there but not explicitly lavender to me. Theres a light minty note as well which I find compliments the sticky sweetness nicely. The perfect famers market scent and it'll be on me all season.

Freshly picked summer harvest- still being sorted into the loft for storage. Sweet hay and lavender is drying in the rafters, frames of honeycomb set out eagerly waiting to be uncapped, fresh apples and nuts are scattered under the still-green trees. Got this scent as a free sample- going off the name I was expecting something more traditionally fall aligned so its freshness was really surprising but not disappointing! The sweet grasses are really the star of the show for me- it reminds me of sweet hay that I used to feed my childhood hamster..

Pineward, why did this have to be an EDT? I need to enjoy this through the whole day!! Thankfully my Hayloft dram comes soon.

This is stunning for me. I love the smell of hay and my most favorite scents have it as a note. This offering from Pineward is one of my favorites of theirs so far. It smells like laying in a haystack in the hobbit shire, smelling lavender drying from the rafters, while Gandalf smokes his pipe and you drink hot, strong tea laced with sweet honey. Your fantasy result may vary. Shire is my favorite so far but this is my second favorite :)

I’m going to sound like the biggest d rider ever, but Hayloft is quite literally perfect. What seems like to me, a gourmand hay-bale with honey and oats, is what I’d look for in any fragrance for colder weather. And with the fall coming up, I genuine might wear it everyday. Doesn’t project loudly, and lasts a moderate amount for me. Overall, another masterpiece from the house of Pineward.

if you want a perfume that feels like a warm hug, this ones for you. its truly the perfect cozy scent that youll keep coming back to, i cant stop smelling my wrist. definetly works best in the fall but id wear this any season. it gives you such a nice scent bubble too, it is on the sweeter side with the honey shining through but it is so lovely i just cant get enough. highly reccomended

This is a pleasant surprise for me. Very gourmand sweet leaning, which I like. The dry down on this one almost smells like a honey fragrance. This one is not for the Pineward perfume lovers that enjoy the fragrant wood/tree notes. Even the hay and green notes are somewhat subdued in this one, in favor of sweet dessert leaning notes.

This scent had several phases for me and all of them were very pleasant, except for the very beginning which for some reason reminded me of horseradish. A spicy (almost but not quite horseradish) scent fades to a sweet & spicy smell, which then morphs into a sweet, dried grass/hay-like scent. Nutty, warm, sweet and comforting.

10/10 wow! A honey lavender. Kinda musky woody wax in a good way. Bees wax candle. Exactly light what it says on the description. Not too heavy. Unisex and light woody. fine for the office. Not usually a honey person but this one's good. Slight aftershave note.

wow. hay, nutty, fresh air, florals, honey?. smells like the best cereal you will ever have in your entire life insane. For reference im recovering from a cold and my smell sence is at 1/2 capacity.

play hayloft by mother mother and spray this for a true immersive experience. young lovers with their legs tied up in love in the hay, but her dad has a g*n so now you run through the hayloft. 10/10

Sweet toasted granola with oats and pine nuts. Super buttery. Mimosa the flower not the drink. Super fantastic and interesting and seems wearable mmmmm Im lovin it.

Hayloft is the perfect name to encapsulate the experience of this fragrance. It has this starchy quality to it when you sniff it, kind of similar to the physical sensation of corn and hay sitting in your nose after a long day at the pumpkin patch. Mt initial experience with this fragrance was not positive; it came across as overly sweet and syrupy, which was intensely headache-inducing for me as someone prone to headaches in fragrances, and it reminded me of medicine syrup. However, after a second wear, with only two sprays, my experience has truly transformed. It is truly a 1:1 of how I thought it would smell, although slightly less hay and more honey than I thought. It provides this kind of warmth that can only be found in the coldest chapter of fall. 4/5 overall for me, but 100% worth smelling - super fun and cozy.

To love this you must love dry grass and honey. First hit of Hayloft is herbal, hay, grassy, aromatic. Drydown turns sweeter, honeyed, toasted, around a dry grassy heart. What's fascinating is the distinct layers to the scent bubble: I'm going about my day and suddenly get a whiff of the lemon and toasted coconut in Unknown Pleasures from Kerosene, a pure dessert gourmand. If I lean my head any closer to my chest, the illusion is gone and we're back to the dry grass & honey. This happened over and over, on different days. I love UP but don't take that as endorsement of Hayloft. Other than those random whiffs, they are nothing alike.

really sweet at first. then the stuff I was looking for come through, the grass, the woody and nutty and less gourmand notes. I like the campfire smell, it's like standing next to a pasture in the late afternoon in august during fire season in the Pacific Northwest, with the red sun in the sky. I got this and serge Lutens Chergui looking for a good hay scent, and I think I'l layer them- Chergui has some lavender, green, fresh notes in the opening that balance the syrupy excess of this one, and this one has a heft and natural warmth that Chergui lacks. together they make a perfect hay scent for me.

I smell butter croissant dipped in sweetened condensed milk and a bowl of cream-o-wheat with lots of honey on a bright morning! Definitely reminds me of a perfect hobbit breakfast from Tolkien's stories. Overall a nice, smooth scent. Not cloying yet sweet and pleasant. There is a "wax" note along with some floral note I can't point that's there similar to just a few notes from Zoologist's Hummingbird. The hay accord here is light (try Hayride from this house if you want a heavy hay note). Definitely recommend getting this one for the fall season.

So far, Hayloft has been my best experience with Pineward fragrances. This scent is more mass appealing than the rest and would be very very easy to wear during fall. It's a nice oats and honey scent. Smells like someone made sweet oatmeal and it mostly stays that way from opening to finish on me. It's a very nice, not overly sweet gourmand that feels perfect for something like a walk through a pumpkin patch. Good longevity and Sillage and I'd rate this an 8.0/10. Still not blind buy safe but overall a very pleasing scent profile.

This is a beautiful fragrance. It smells like eating a hot bowl of oatmeal sweetened with honey in a warm hay barn, without the animals. It’s a very picturesque scent. But. And there’s just one but. This scent is thick and it is heavy. In a sticky, thick honey sort of way. Again, beautiful scent but be prepared. 7/10

This is a GOURMAND! I agree with the review that states honey drizzled on oats - additionally I got sweet vanilla, praline, hay, and apple. It is comforting but lively, a fitting autumnal scent. The dry down brought out more apple for me, like someone preparing a streusel. For fans of Harvest Mouse by Zoologist.

About 6 hours of longevity. Low to mid projection at first. One of the more modest offerings from Pineward, I assume. Based on wearing others. Inoffensive. Clean hay loft. No animalic notes to push you away. I agree with Iambmw622 below. Enjoyable.

I love this fragrance. I get sweet hay with a touch of dusty antique store but then my kid said I smelled like Tajin and now I can't stop picking that up.

Very very syrupy sweet, a bit nutty, smells like fall baked goods. I was hoping for more of a grassy hay scent, but I don’t hate it!

This scent makes me feel like the most loved horse in the world.

I think I should admit to myself that Pineward isn’t a house that I have the nose to appreciate. I can’t pick out any of the specific notes at opening, it only smells flowery and creamy and I get why others have mentioned coconut, though it isn’t explicitly the scent of coconut. After a few hours it takes on lavender with a slightly spicy undertone. It is kind of grandmother-ish, similar to Pastoral. I also received an EDT concentration of Hayloft as a free extra. It is mostly the same though it is more flower-forward and lacking the creaminess. Probably not something I will wear again. I have 8 samples, and I’m not especially taken by any of them. Something about them seems unfinished or not blended well.

I had higher hopes for this fragrance as I really enjoy the house. I knew it would be a honey and oat fragrance but I didn’t know that’s all it would be. After letting the fragrance fully develop I still can’t find any of that grass or hay I was really hoping for. I wanted a western, warm breeze by a stack of hay with a hint of sweetness from the other notes and all I get is honey drizzled on dry oats. It’s too sweet for me. Almost nauseating, and I’ve never had this happen with a fragrance before. If you enjoy sweeter honey fragrances this is still a decent scent worth trying though. But not for me.

What I can only assume is the hay has some very minty notes to it. This is a nice autumn scent between the hay, grains and honey it's very much as expected except that mintiness. Pineward perfumes never really smell like wearable cologne - there's no EdT idea here. But this definitely evokes late summer hay lofts. I like this one and Pastoral which is much sweeter.

Impressed with the hay and oat notes, can see how this is the perfect autumn scent. Sadly for me it was too sweet and cloying and aside from the honey note I picked up a mulled whine-ish note? Maybe just me but overall it smelled too syrupy for my taste. But the scent is definitely accurate, and the hay note on the drydown is really interesting and accurate.

Instant flashbacks to middle school sleepovers at a friend's house, whose mom was a spiritual hippie type and burned incense. Sadly, incense is all I really get from this. I say sadly because I loved the sound of all the notes, and don't detect any, but it is a nice scent - a good incense, light and natural and not cloying, just not what I was hoping for

Incense like honey smell with lots of nutty notes. lasted about 8 hours, and I'm still catching occasional whiffs of it hours after that. Definitely a holiday type note, i could see this being cloying in warmer weather. Really wanted to like this one, but it just wasn't my thing.

I like this scent, but it's not what I was looking for. It's too sweet for me (a friend told me I smelled like butterscotch) but might be good for someone who likes those types of scents.

This scent uses more the fresh minty green facets of hay; not the warm, dry, honeyed and cereal-like ones that I had hoped for and that are so reminiscent of the rural area I grew up in

On paper, this sounds terrific: the notes I love, such as hay (fresh mown hay accords, anyone?), honey, grains. When it opens, I am somewhere between intrigued and perplexed. I wait for some resolve from this strange, pasty sensation, which I believe is meant to represent oat and/or wheat. It mutates to plaster, and then to a grain mill, and then to a somewhat awkward appearance of hexenol/hexenyl materials (read: green grass and leaves). I see where perfumer Nicholas Nilsson aims to achieve a pastoral effect through the accords he created for Hayloft, but the end product feels jarring, yet at the same time oddly incidental, evoking a scene, but not necessarily a romanticized one. Again, it feels less like a perfume meant to be worn on the body and more like editorial fragrance art. It feels detached, unresolved, and those are not feelings I like to experience in perfume.

I don't get coconut, but I kind of know what the other reviewer means. The grain and nut notes do give a sort of creaminess, but to me it stays firmly in the hay and grass territory. I've been trying for a long time to find my perfect hay scent, and while this isn't quite it, it is nice at first. For me it's just too spicy-sweet in the drydown, perhaps it's the honey?

I love the hay in it, but my fiance quickly pointed out that it smells just like patchouli and now it's all I smell! I think I need to try a purer hay scent next.

The thing is i can get each of the listed notes, i definitely get the honeyed hay and the lavender, but what this really reminds me of is the smell of something like jean patou’s joy- at its core it has that familiar smell reminiscent of overly concentrated, harsh, slightly indolic jasmine. I love when jasmine smells like jasmine tea, but not when jasmine smells like it does in something like joy. I get that there technically isnt jasmine in here and what im picking up is mostly the lavender mingling with some other elements, but thats really what it is giving me- however, unlike joy, this is actually really well rounded and that profile feels diffused correctly and it is beautifully crafted to the point that i like and admire this even though the overall scent profile isnt fully for me/ leans a little too feminine for my nose and doesnt match my usual scent affinities. It has just the right amount of complementary layers to that core going on, of just the right amount of sweetness and the right spices to make this a really beautiful offering from this house. I think for people who are a bit more in love with this type of scent profile, you will be absolutely charmed by this, because it is really well crafted and enchanting. Over time this starts smelling a little bit more in the vein of something patchoulli-y/headshoppy which i dont love but i know that many others enjoy that- but that honeyed hay still offsets it well even for me, and creates a nice gourmand cinnamony smelling effect in the air (at points even going into a synthetic cherry type smell). Sometimes this house doesnt get the sweetness factor right- it usually either goes a bit too far or needs a bit more in my experience, but this is just right. I can pinpoint that the lavender element is what throws this awry compositionally just for me personally and makes it something i wouldnt return to for my own use, the overdomineering presence of lavender in mens perfumery in a post sauvage world has truly ruined it for me unless it is actually a very realistic and light lavender note- but i dont think most others would dislike that as much as i do to be honest- im just not a lavender lover in regards to its use in fragrance, and it takes a pretty dominant role here. However, when i get the residual smell hayloft has left on clothes, the lavender is still dominant yet much lighter and less pungent, and in that context i feel like this really has that “it factor” of a fragrance like santal 33- it is more widely appealing while still being very unique and still lavender forward, so i wish the main wear was more in that vein I will also note that unlike some of pinewards other fragrances, this doesnt feel like its meant to be a more realistic depiction of a natural smell that takes you somewhere experientially- it seems more focused on being its own creation and a little more in line with traditional modern perfumery- theres a slight naturalistic edge to the hay but just know that if you were expecting a more realistic hayloft ambiance this isnt that

I got a huge bundle of pineward samples a while back, and this is one i initially dubbed as not being for me. But i have sampled it since a few times, and wore it again today. Not looking at the notes, this has a certain ineffable quality to the profile that im not sure anyone will be able to properly articulate or relay to you unless you just smell it yourself- its sort of strange and more in the character of how it hits your nose than the actual notes themselves. But the profile to me mostly feels like a honey cough syrup with a bit of an incensey patchouli smell (i see that this doesnt have patchouli in it, its probably the lavender but to me it comes across like an incensey type of patch), i dont feel that this smells hay like at all- i usually dont love the honey centric frags like naxos, but i really enjoy this- except it does smell a little bit too headshop-y in the very initial wear from those floral accords which i dont love. Later on that accord actually smells like a very well done lavender, but i still dont love that type of scent. Its sweet at first but imo not in a cloying way. What i do love is the shadow of itself and the musk this leaves on clothes after the initial strength wears off, it is very addicting and nuanced and just feels like a natural way that someone might smell- that is one thing i love the most about pineward, they really all strike a great balance between being natural and perfumey- they dont smell too natural that they just come off essential oil-y, yet they also arent too perfumey where you’d assume that someone wearing them had put on a perfume. One qualm i have about many of their fragrances however is that there is a bit of a cleaning-product-ish quality to it in the background. It reminds me of either windex or the spray i used to use to clean cds and it is present in quite a few of their creations including very lightly but still noticeably to me in this one. This has a small but noticeable scent bubble, which i think is perfect for this type of profile. This type of scent isnt intrinsically my cup of tea, and yet it has still won over my affection a bit. Im not sure if i find this full bottle worthy bc as i noted, i find the initial wear to have a little too much of an incense inflection for my liking- but i could still easily see it growing on me more overall

I cannot believe this hasn't been explored and reviewed yet. It's insane! I have tried most of pineward's offerings and this one is one of the very few that has a gourmand prowess going for it. If you're familiar with Kerosene Unknown Pleasures, there is a distinct toasted coconut accord found there that could also be found here but it is far less cloying. Now It is a tad bit too sweet, but I would wear it without hesitation! The coconut accord plays out differently than your usual standard coconut fragramce. The coconut actually smells like the coconut found in the candy bar (Chick-O-Stick) it has a butter-y-ness and the sweetness is coming from the honey. This has notes like oat, almonds, wheat, one would think this would be a flanker to Rirana's wood cereal but they are both completely different fragrances. To me, Hayloft has that lush coconut as mentioned during the opening to mid, then it gets less coconutty and more honey based. This is such a great fragrance and lasts over 8 hours easy!

This is a review of the entire brand. I smelled dozens of them. They all smell of overly synthetic yankee candle. Every single one of them. The worst perfumes are usually the ones than never go away as well. Sickening. I had high hopes too. Slumberhouse does not smell of yankee candle. Perhaps Mond, but more natural smelling and much more than that. Do not compare these houses they are on opposite ends of the spectrum of quality and smell. Slumberhouse smells like Slumberhouse. Pineward smells like dollar store fall candle. Every time.

Strange: It’s a soft sweet hay/grass/woody melange with hints of eraser rubber and vanillic notes. I kind of get toasted almond if I think in that direction, and the dusty wheat is there. It’s woody and grassy for sure and I definitely get a beautiful hay in there, but I’m not sure the entire blend is complimentary on my skin. The lavender and almond make it almost leathery or possibly they are the eraser rubber scent, and there’s an ozone note almost like wet ink, but overall the impression is a pasty murk. I don’t like this one.

Honey and hay, with oats, almonds and hazelnuts? I can't discern these notes. I get a creamy, honeyed scent with tons of saffron in the drydown, some green notes, something earthy. I feel I have tried something very similar to this before...multiple times... It feels very niche, but kind of common within the niche realm. Like "generic niche" which you might say is not possible but there are so many niche scents that we already passed the point were too many smell alike. A sample is more than enough to me.

Ismellalot is such a nasty hater like why do all that? Just overboard and unnecessary. People clearly like these scents if they were that bad he’d have no business. I like shire a bit better than this but this lasts longer and is more worth it. But both get compliments like people wanna chew on me. Dollar store where? Just rude

This smells like the last autumn before the veil lifts and the magic of childhood is lost, the last time you will experience the warmth of autumn, a memory completely dated to a time and place you can never return to

Man, I love this so much. It's such a comforting fragrance to me, I really thought I wouldn't like this because of the somewhat unusual notes such as hay, wheat and oat but this works so amazingly well.

This reminds me so much of Curiously Cinnamon cereals. It’s a sweet and spicy wheat with very delicate hay like tones. Very cute and whimsical fragrance!
