Shire

My boyfriend ordered several samples from Pineward and I absolutely commandeered this one after I smelled it. The combination of all the notes in this fragrance managed to replicate perfectly this particular scent that I often smell when I'm out on a hike, and that scent is always so fleeting, I smell it one moment and then the next it's gone. Perhaps it's the aroma of one particular plant, but to my mind it's simply the smell of sun-warmed plant material, and it's so heady and enchanting to me. So considering that this fragrance is exactly that captured in a bottle, I'm in love. I would definitely like to get a full bottle now that I've used up all of the sample. Art I think would smell like Shire: Cornfield at Abingdon, Berks by George Vicat Cole

Something about this fragrance is so beautiful. I ordered a 10 pack of drams plus a few samples and this is one that stood out to me. I have hayloft and they are very similar, but shire is just so much smoother and more tame. I pick up cinnamon, hay, and cake immediately. I started reading the lord of the rings because of my love for medieval fantasy, and this fragrance evokes a scene of what I would think the Shire would feel like on a calm, cool fall day. This scent is really something I will consistently be reaching for in about half a year’s time once I get a full bottle. A 10/10 scent and another masterpiece from the house of Pineward

Something about this reminds me of a Renaissance Faire. It's coming from a subtle incensey note, which isn't listed on their website, mixed with sweet tobacco. In the drydown I'm getting sweet dried hay, lavender, orris, and a touch of honey (nowhere near as much as the honey-bomb that is Pastoral.) It's very rustic, homey and comforting. I am not really getting anything oaty, biscuity or cake-like, which is fine because I don't want to smell like food. I don't see myself wearing this at work, but it would be great if I were going to an outdoor festival or farmer's market.

Shire is a fitting name for this one! The scene is Bilbo's birthday (save Gandolf's firework show!) BIGGGG gourmand - ultra decadent, multi-layered frosted dense cookie - biscuit, caramel, vanilla. Very comforting. A perfect autumnal scent, per many of Pinewards' scents! I ordered over a dozen Pineward samples and this was one of my favorites. Big sillage and longevity. For fans of: COMMODITY! It smelt so familiar then the realization shook me. This smells exactly of Commodity's Milk / Gold DNA with a heaaaavy dose of biscuit on top!

Only fragrance I’ve felt the need to leave a review for which could easily be influenced by the similarity of this smell to my childhood home and not necessarily it being the most complex fragrance. However, for me it gave a super comforting scent of hay, honey, and oat on first smell but became more nutty and the lavender came through a little bit later. Could be a completely biased review but this is the only fragrance that has gotten close to capturing some of those memories and feelings for me. 9.4/10

While I don't see how this could be considered a 'green' scent, I agree that this is a very sweet, nutty, and honey scent. I do get some of the florals underneath as well. Like all the Pineward scents I've been sampling this one has a good arm's reach, it lasts a good while, and I don't need to put on much. I think this one and Bucolic from them are tied for my favorite.

They finally added the new Pinewards to Fragrantica. YES!!!!! Smells like waking up in the midwestern country on a cold brisk autumn morning, 7:30am, waking up with the sun beaming thru the windows and preparing yourself some lavender honey tea, and a bowl of oatmeal with a side of seed cake for a delicious country breakfast. 9.5/10

Very lovely, i got myself a few samples of their perfumes, and I think this one might be my favorite of the bunch! It smells far less cakey than I expected, more fruity with a hint of tobacco and with almost a plum like effect. The honey and oat rounds it nicely to make it quite smooth.

I get oatmeal orris honey lavender and mulled wine. Its really really good. Sends you back to some distant past where the women wear aprons and bonnets while tending the heath while the kids eat hearty oatmeal and the husband drinks mulled wine and smokes a pipe.

It’s like Hayloft’s softer, more subtle cousin. It’s sweet and nutty from the hazelnut and honey, with just a touch of spice. In the warm crook of my arm, the hazelnut comes out a lot more, while on my forearm, it’s more of a generic sweetness from honey.

Fairly sweet without being overwhelming! Definitely doesn't last as long as some others, but that might just be me. Very fitting for any event in my opinion! I blind-bought it, and i'd say it's pretty safe.

I love this. It smells like Halloween to some and Christmas to others. The honey note is what I hold most dear. It’s a beautiful creation that I want!

Dear lord.. This is amazing. For the hazelnut lovers and alike. Wow. Goddamnit, now I need this one. haha

This is great fun, in part because it's so unlike anything else. Shire initially comes on strong with the honey, oats, and hay, in a warm and sweet way, but with a dryness and herbaceous edge that keeps it from falling into icky sticky gourmand territory. I agree with others that the hazelnut and lavender come forward as the fragrance wears, though, fortunately, I also find that it never loses those initial hay-and-honey notes. I prefer Pineward's tree- and spice-focused fragrances on the whole, but this is nice for a change, particularly on a hot day when I still want to feel a bit cozy.

It smells like a warm, welcoming cottage on a cool day. It feels like you're walking in to a well-loved and lived in cottage as you take off your coat and uncoil your long, wool scarf from around your neck and there is a mug of hot apple cider waiting for you. It feels like I think a cottage in a Thomas Kinkade painting would smell. Definitely the nicest and most wearable I have tried from Pineward so far. The most prominent notes for me are oats, hay, hazelnut, and tobacco. Pleasant, plump, and welcoming in a very autumnal way. 7/10.

Nutty, cozy, warm, toasted oats, cinnamon, and yes sweet cake! The intention behind this fragrance is well translated ! It really is all the notes listed, it really is a cozy autumn day in the shire. Don’t really have much to add. Not a fan of gourmands but damn I like this one ! more gentle and lighter version of hayloft, they are quite different

Wow I like this one much more than hayloft. Nutty, sweet, dry, light but still rich. Smells like a good body lotion

I really love the smell of this fragrance for all 3 seconds it lasts. Seriously, I’ve never had a fragrance disappear as quickly as this one. What a shame.

Instant headache and nausea. Absolutely horrific. Inappropriately named too, as it just smells like some sort of cheap, mass produced cake. Hate.

I must admit that this initially reminded me of a fall candle type of smell and I couldn't pick up much other than cinnamon which ironically isn't listed in the notes. I was rather underwhelmed until I read the notes breakdown and smelled it again. Then I was able to discern the honey and herbs with orris and the overall aromatic quality of the fragrance with a new appreciation. It definitely gives that image of the Shire on a golden autumn day where all is right with the world. Sillage is nice, longevity is ok, not sure about a full bottle but find myself wanting to spend more time with it so we shall see. I think it is easy to dismiss as a generic fall smell initially but kind of lures you in with its simple rustic charm that you can't find in a lot of fragrances competing to be chic and sophisticated. It has homespun character so I'm down with that.

Sampling this as part of my desperate search for a fragrance that smells like freshly dried hay. So far the hay fixative by Wild Veil has the PERFECT scent to me, but it's incredibly expensive and doesn't project, which is why I've been trying other hay note perfumes like this one. The notes DO feel accurate but this is just sooooooo sweet to me T_T I was baffled when I read that this was supposed to be a lighter version of Hayloft because it's already quite strong on its own. But if you do know of any scents that match what I'm thinking of PLEASE send them my way.

I like this one more than Hayloft. It isn't as heavy compared to it which I like. However this doesn't smell like Hayloft to me. Maybe like 50%? Oats and lavender are the most prominent notes for me I think this is one of the Pinewards that would be crowd-pleasing and wouldn't be offensive to regular people. Despite that, this still has that niche/indie perfumery quality to it.

This does deviate away from hayloft but you can tell it's lineage. This is beautifully balanced as hayloft was a bit too sweet and I really liked hayloft. This is sweet at the right capacity for me. I do pick up on the slight tobacco (non burley type) Give this a try if you can!

this might be the best perfume i've ever smelled. it came as a free sample in my pineward order and i fullsized it immediately. because of the tobacco it smells pretty similar to cafe tabac by aedes de venustas, which is my boyfriend's too expensive favorite. potential dupe??

I had heard that this fragrance is the same as Hayloft EDT and was wondering if that is true as I don't know what to buy this or Hayloft for full bottle.

I only smell orris root, honey and hay. I can't possibly tell you how badly I wanted to smell cake and hazelnuts in this.The dry down smells like cola.
