Acqua di Pino Fougere

As others have said, this is not a fougere. And while it opens with a good dose of citrus, that element fades away within about 20 minutes. The heart of this fragrance is violet leaf, which lasts from the opening until the end. The violet is counterpointed initially by lavender for an lovely aromatic match up. The lavender gradually fades, allowing tonka, amber, patchouli and cedar (in that order) to step up. With five sprays on the chest and shirt, this lasts me a good six hours. The violet and cedar are the last notes standing, and they are quite enjoyable all the way until the end. For under $15, this is a solid choice.

Aqua di Pino is a very nice job from Pino Silvestre! Sharp Mediterranean combines very well modern with classic. The fans of Pino will be happy with this! I can say - the nice bottle gives a clue what to expect. I bought it for £ 15 approx from Fragrance X.

This is Mavive's interpretation of a nice Italian fougere. Not just the bottle also the scent reminds me a bit of what Acqua di Parma has on offer. The opening is nice and fresh with a good whiff of Italian citrus and light aquatic notes. At this stage it is similar to many other scents of the same family. A little later the pink pepper adds some spice and the florals give it a nicer softer touch which i believe comes from the violet leaves. The lavender and geranium are not overly strong but prominent. Succulent vetiver and a drier cedar make up the base with the florals still in the background. Overall a very nice fragrance with the Pino Silvestre DNA . Love it.....

Yes, as mentioned, has all first impressions of L'eau Super Majeure D'Issey - which happens to be one of my personal favourites. There's the mineral sea notes, the salt, and the cedar and violet. Issey is the OG - Pino Fougere seems weaker. The blending of the notes in Pino is excellent and very high quality. There's depth to the lavender and it mixes with the violet impressively. I also get the appealing orange note in the top. Although, it appears to go to a skin scent quickly, it's a highly appealing fragrance - and excellent value! If you like L'eau Super Majeure D'Issey, then get it!

Simple connection for me: If you know L'eau Super Majeure D'Issey, this is the same idea. On me, Super Majeure is a compliment puller, long-lasting, super sea salt/marine/aquatic/fresh spicy woody. Think of Pino Fougere as a beginner, tamed version of the DNA. Slightly more fresh/green. Weaker. The opening felt like Nautica Voyage, but then... got a clearer image. For the price point, I would go for IM as I've gotten tons of wear and enjoyment from it. Was watching vids, definitely curious, as I enjoy Pino Silvestre for it's style.

Innocuous, unthreatening, meh.

Whenever I like a perfume and don’t know why, I realize it has violet leaf in it and remember I had bought it because it has violet leaf in it. This is fresh light transparent green. It reminds me of Acqua di Gio not in notes but in its freshness and lightness. The only issue I have is the fake wood bottle cap looks so McDonald’s kids toy. And it is way too sweet for my taste, my favorite perfume is Encre Noir. My dream is a forest scent like Encre Noir.

Reminds me of cotton candy at the carnival with a weak pinefresh basenote meant to counterbalance the sweetness, but its not enough. Really it is too sweet for summer wear but I can't conceive of a season better suited to it, so its an oddball in my collection. I can't place it. I'd say ladies could pull this one off pretty easily to be really honest about it.

On first wear, it reminds me of Coach Blue, or one of the Nauticas. Generic Axe shower gelly, more blue than green. When I smell the atomizer I definitely get the comparison to Voyage (green apple). Like it's counterpart, 'cologne', it's not at all what I was expecting sadly. Will report back after a few wearings.

Smells really really cheap. Zero element of class in it. Certainly there is no pine, it’s just a sharp shaved off wire.

Don’t be fooled, this is NOT an old-school classy fragrance because it is such an ambroxan bomb. Without all of the ambroxan it would be at least okay.

This is not really a Fougere. A Fougere by definition replicates the imaginary smell of a fern. I don't imagine a fern smells like a fir tree in an alpine forest. Maybe one could say it has Fougere touches or something, and that's thanks to the lavender. I think it's the lavender-coumarin accord that most characteristically defines a Fougere to perfumers. In the absence of coumarin per se I would think a general earthy-green accord would fit the bill. Acqua di Pino Fougere is green. But should we include an alpine green in defining a fougere? But even then we would need to account for the prominent "sea notes" accord. If anything, I would rather classify this as an Aromatic Alpine Aquatic (lol). The comparisons to Nautica Voyage are valid in my opinion. It's almost this scent profile was created out of a hybrid of Floris 1962 and Nautica Voyage. And it reminds me of the new Ralph Lauren Polo Cologne Intense, an attempt at a freshened, modern flanker to the classic Chypré Polo (Green). If you want to consider this an Aromatic Alpine Aquatic Fougere then have at it (lol again). I won't complain. But if you want a great example of a classic, even photorealistic, fougere, then get your nose on Amouage Bracken Man. Then compare that with this Acqua di Pino Fougere. And throw Nautica Voyage into that comparison, then think about what Acqua di Pino really is. Now, after all that, I can say this is a nice, fresh, even bracing scent. It will take its place in my collection of pleasant, affordable, office-friendly, everyday-wear scents.

I once dated this dumb broad in Austin who had a bottle of Baccarat Rouge and Acqua di Parma on her toilet tank. She also had a hole in her bathroom door from her own fist and kept her diva cup in the sink. Maybe I've got too many negative associations to give Parma its due. Or maybe I just like Pino's fougere edition for being a bit more masculine. Regardless, this is one of the only fragrances with marine notes I enjoy, and it's intensely affordable to compensate for its mediocre performance. An easy recommendation.

You awake in the morning to fresh snow on the ground, go outside and smell the fresh air blown through the pines. That is this scent, the fresh piney air for a cool mountain day. Or a cold foggy coastal redwoods of California sipping some nice tea on a chilly morning. I have to say I am in the beginning of my scent journey, but I know what I like, and this I like a lot. I will have to disagree with the consensus that this is not a winter scent, it fits so well walking outside in the crisp air.
