Pillowtalk Poet

I actually didn't expect to like this as much as I do. The trio of notes listed on the sample were powder, amber, and musk. That's a trifecta of ick to me usually, but I'd been so impressed with Pinrose's skill in balancing their notes that I used my fragrance towlette and crossed my fingers. I love to be wrong sometimes, and this is certainly one of those times. When the first whiff of scent hit me, I actually exclaimed "Oh, perfect!". Somehow, the fragrance was familiar and friendly, yet unique and graceful. Feather light powder and clouds with just a touch of depth and warmth. My best friend used to wear Jovan White Musk, and Pillowtalk Poet is so similar I thought I had it pegged, but there are differences that elevate PTP to something much different. For instance, I'm guessing the ambergris used in Pillowtalk rather than amber or synthetics possibly used in White Musk make the difference on depth and drydown. I could never wear White Musk because it would turn on me to that nasty metallic smell I'm always complaining about in other fragrances. Pillowtalk THREATENED to turn on me, yet it backed off, and eventually it meshed into my skin in a lovely "me but better" scent. I was always aware White Musk was a fragrance on my friend, although soft and simple. My one complaint is that I wish I could smell it a little better on myself. I drive with my windows down whenever I can, and I noticed a whiff of this here and there, and it was always gorgeously soft, but that's the only time I catch it. I'm going to spray it on my clothes and see if that helps a little more with Sillage and longevity. This is near the top of must-purchase fragrances.

This scent is so comforting to me. It’s soapy fresh, slightly floral, powdery and sensual. Something about this just makes me feel so delicate and sexy at the same time. Perfect out of the shower scent! It’s really light and soft so if you’re expecting anything more than a skin scent, this ain’t it. I love wearing this to bed and it smells so beautiful when I’m freshly out the shower. It’s very subtle and intimate. Smells like sexy baby powder and freshly laundered linens. In my experience, men love this on me and notice it more than ladies. The girls will compliment how fresh I smell but this seems to be catnip for men. It’s really intimate and unless you lean in close or pass by someone you won’t get a huge whiff. Funny enough, I gave my coworker a decant since she loves powdery scents for bed, and the next day she looked a bit tired but happy, I didn’t think much of it and when I got the chance to ask if she had tested the fragrance she noticeably blushed. She told me she showered and splashed this on before bed as she usually does in her nightly routine and mentioned she really liked the subtle scent but admitted how tired she was because her husband did not let her get a lick of sleep after smelling her in bed! 😅

Adore this for days I just want to feel clean and energized, but still ladylike, refined, and confident. Good wear-to-bed fragrance. Not soapy smelling, but has that fresh-out-of-the-shower feeling. I dont know how to explain it...this is the only "powdery" scent I have ever smelled that doesnt...well...smell powdery...powdery scents typically being off-putting and old-lady-ish to me. Moderate duration on me (about 6 hours), and light to moderate projection (about 2 feet...just inside my personal space). Sillage seems to only be on clothing / by contact, not in the air. Previously, I had one signature scent that I basically wore or didnt wear depending on my mood. On a whim, I bought this at a discount store (best blind buy ever), and it was so deliciously delightful in a way I never expected that it prompted me to order the full sample pack of Pinrose rollerball scents. All the other ones smell cheap on my skin, but there is such a wide variety of scents that I had never considered I would enjoy that it started me down my very deep dark spiralling obsession with artisanal perfume houses and the hunt for my personally perfectly curated wardrobe of perfumes. Kudos, Vito Lenoci!

I might be the only person here who has no longevity issues with this scent. It's a slightly powdery animalic musk with baby powdery edges and a clean white amber opening reminiscent of Kuumba Made Persian Garden. The animalic facet is the most tenacious and I could smell it from several feet away for hours. It also lasted through a hand washing. It recalls Coty Wild musk and Kiehls original, but is not floral or powdery enough to resemble Love's Baby Soft. I'm actually surprised by how animalic this is considering its target market. The copy on the packaging makes references to laundry but I don't get that from it at all. It's more like the inside of a wool hat you've worn all winter. If there is any "laundry musk" present, it smells nothing like the dryer sheet onslaught that is Sea Island Cotton by Bath & Body Works or even like the clean, Tyvek suit-sterility of Glossier You's iris-pepper-musk accord. I am a musk fan so I'm digging this simple potent little scent but I found a 30ml bottle complete with squashed and torn box at Marshall's for $12. I don't think it's worth more than that really, especially since it is so evocative of several drugstore classics.

The SA at Sephora tossed a few Pinrose samples into my bag of purchases, and I almost threw them away. The name of this "Pillowtalk Poet" captured my imagination, so I decided to give it a try. I was surprised at the power of this scent upon opening and applying to my skin. Cloves, and more cloves! But after a few moments, she settled down, and I thought... hmm, Nice Cloves! I'm somewhat reminded of Kenzo Jungle Le Elephant, but it's as if it is a bejeweled, Indian Elephant dressed up for a ceremonial parade... so pretty, and a bit gentle, but there is that underlying strength. I've read (on Pinrose' website and elsewhere) that 50% of people cannot smell the "ambergris" in this fragrance. I guess I can, and maybe the 50% that can't are the folks who think this is a very subtle, skin scent. Well, lucky me! I really do enjoy this fragrance and ended up buying a FB. I can pick up all the notes listed, but not much Musk. On me, Pillowtalk Poet is strong, and long-lasting. And that name! So charming!
