Pillowtalk Poet

I actually didn't expect to like this as much as I do. The trio of notes listed on the sample were powder, amber, and musk. That's a trifecta of ick to me usually, but I'd been so impressed with Pinrose's skill in balancing their notes that I used my fragrance towlette and crossed my fingers. I love to be wrong sometimes, and this is certainly one of those times. When the first whiff of scent hit me, I actually exclaimed "Oh, perfect!". Somehow, the fragrance was familiar and friendly, yet unique and graceful. Feather light powder and clouds with just a touch of depth and warmth. My best friend used to wear Jovan White Musk, and Pillowtalk Poet is so similar I thought I had it pegged, but there are differences that elevate PTP to something much different. For instance, I'm guessing the ambergris used in Pillowtalk rather than amber or synthetics possibly used in White Musk make the difference on depth and drydown. I could never wear White Musk because it would turn on me to that nasty metallic smell I'm always complaining about in other fragrances. Pillowtalk THREATENED to turn on me, yet it backed off, and eventually it meshed into my skin in a lovely "me but better" scent. I was always aware White Musk was a fragrance on my friend, although soft and simple. My one complaint is that I wish I could smell it a little better on myself. I drive with my windows down whenever I can, and I noticed a whiff of this here and there, and it was always gorgeously soft, but that's the only time I catch it. I'm going to spray it on my clothes and see if that helps a little more with Sillage and longevity. This is near the top of must-purchase fragrances.

This scent is so comforting to me. It’s soapy fresh, slightly floral, powdery and sensual. Something about this just makes me feel so delicate and sexy at the same time. Perfect out of the shower scent! It’s really light and soft so if you’re expecting anything more than a skin scent, this ain’t it. I love wearing this to bed and it smells so beautiful when I’m freshly out the shower. It’s very subtle and intimate. Smells like sexy baby powder and freshly laundered linens. In my experience, men love this on me and notice it more than ladies. The girls will compliment how fresh I smell but this seems to be catnip for men. It’s really intimate and unless you lean in close or pass by someone you won’t get a huge whiff. Funny enough, I gave my coworker a decant since she loves powdery scents for bed, and the next day she looked a bit tired but happy, I didn’t think much of it and when I got the chance to ask if she had tested the fragrance she noticeably blushed. She told me she showered and splashed this on before bed as she usually does in her nightly routine and mentioned she really liked the subtle scent but admitted how tired she was because her husband did not let her get a lick of sleep after smelling her in bed! 😅

Adore this for days I just want to feel clean and energized, but still ladylike, refined, and confident. Good wear-to-bed fragrance. Not soapy smelling, but has that fresh-out-of-the-shower feeling. I dont know how to explain it...this is the only "powdery" scent I have ever smelled that doesnt...well...smell powdery...powdery scents typically being off-putting and old-lady-ish to me. Moderate duration on me (about 6 hours), and light to moderate projection (about 2 feet...just inside my personal space). Sillage seems to only be on clothing / by contact, not in the air. Previously, I had one signature scent that I basically wore or didnt wear depending on my mood. On a whim, I bought this at a discount store (best blind buy ever), and it was so deliciously delightful in a way I never expected that it prompted me to order the full sample pack of Pinrose rollerball scents. All the other ones smell cheap on my skin, but there is such a wide variety of scents that I had never considered I would enjoy that it started me down my very deep dark spiralling obsession with artisanal perfume houses and the hunt for my personally perfectly curated wardrobe of perfumes. Kudos, Vito Lenoci!

I might be the only person here who has no longevity issues with this scent. It's a slightly powdery animalic musk with baby powdery edges and a clean white amber opening reminiscent of Kuumba Made Persian Garden. The animalic facet is the most tenacious and I could smell it from several feet away for hours. It also lasted through a hand washing. It recalls Coty Wild musk and Kiehls original, but is not floral or powdery enough to resemble Love's Baby Soft. I'm actually surprised by how animalic this is considering its target market. The copy on the packaging makes references to laundry but I don't get that from it at all. It's more like the inside of a wool hat you've worn all winter. If there is any "laundry musk" present, it smells nothing like the dryer sheet onslaught that is Sea Island Cotton by Bath & Body Works or even like the clean, Tyvek suit-sterility of Glossier You's iris-pepper-musk accord. I am a musk fan so I'm digging this simple potent little scent but I found a 30ml bottle complete with squashed and torn box at Marshall's for $12. I don't think it's worth more than that really, especially since it is so evocative of several drugstore classics.

The SA at Sephora tossed a few Pinrose samples into my bag of purchases, and I almost threw them away. The name of this "Pillowtalk Poet" captured my imagination, so I decided to give it a try. I was surprised at the power of this scent upon opening and applying to my skin. Cloves, and more cloves! But after a few moments, she settled down, and I thought... hmm, Nice Cloves! I'm somewhat reminded of Kenzo Jungle Le Elephant, but it's as if it is a bejeweled, Indian Elephant dressed up for a ceremonial parade... so pretty, and a bit gentle, but there is that underlying strength. I've read (on Pinrose' website and elsewhere) that 50% of people cannot smell the "ambergris" in this fragrance. I guess I can, and maybe the 50% that can't are the folks who think this is a very subtle, skin scent. Well, lucky me! I really do enjoy this fragrance and ended up buying a FB. I can pick up all the notes listed, but not much Musk. On me, Pillowtalk Poet is strong, and long-lasting. And that name! So charming!

I'm a musk head and I will buy any fragrance that is a derivation of classic white musk. I bought the travel spray at my local Ulta and really enjoyed the fragrance. Had no performance issues whatsoever. Took the plunge and purchased a FB. Umm, what in the heck is going on here? Zero longevity. I'm talking...will barely last 5 minutes on skin. On clothing it sticks around but really curious as to the pH necessary to get this to stay on your skin? Is it an anosmia thing? Maybe my nose was tired and I just couldn't smell it on myself? Lol, who knows. I'm curious if spraying it on freshly cleansed skin alters the pH whereas 'dirty' skin allows it to stick around longer? Will have to do some case studies and will report back my findings. But at the moment I'm a little stunned that I paid retail for a full bottle when I've gotten far superior performance from health food store fragrance oils or even Body Fantasies White Musk spray, let alone the classic Body Shop white musk oil.

Love this one sooo much, it’s clean and smells just like a clary sage essential oil I once bought and it was the best, softly sweet clary sage I ever sniffed (I think by Ulilly essential oil) It’s herby and soft and I perceive a little bit of a floral sweetness thanks to the geranium. I love it! I used to mix, in a rollerball vial, geranium, clary sage and cedar wood (or sometimes either Vetiver, Frankincense or a little Patchouli) essential oils with fractionated coconut oil and use this oil mix as a calming scent and to me this is it! I just wish it was louder, projected better and lasted longer. I don’t really care too much if people can smell me or not but when I can’t get whiffs off of it throughout the day and/or have to reapply it every few hours then yeah, I will look for something else that I can actually smell for more than 30 minutes!

I had a mini rollerball of this scent that I received in a discovery set. It was a beautiful clean scent. I received quite a few compliments when wearing this. Everyone one commented on how fresh and clean I smelled. It had a pretty good sillage on me, beyond arms length and lasted at least 6-8hours. I could still smell it faintly on my skin at least 12 hours later. I wish I had purchased a full bottle when Sephora had them on sale, now it seems they are no longer carrying this brand. Edit; I have since ordered a bottle from the Pinrose site and this is now one of my go to scents to wear for those occasions I just want to smell fresh and clean. I had an excellent experience with ordering from them. There was a delivery issue and their customer service was wonderful to deal with and rectified the situation right away.

I don't normally like clean, linen-based scents, but found this to be positively intoxicating. I blame that partly on the fact that I find myself constantly trying to pick up a trace of the scent on my skin, as it fades incredibly quickly and has a very soft sillage. I've sprayed it on clothes, bedding, myself - and it's like being teased with a hint of something great. I love the blends Pinrose has been releasing, but all but a few of their scents fade quickly and have a very light, soft sillage. If this stays on your skin for any given amount of time, consider yourself lucky, because it is a great fragrance when it lasts.

What a perfect name for this perfume! This just comforts like no other. It is a snuggly gentle soft "pillowy"scent. I thought since this is so gentle that it would fade away but no, it lingers for a long long time. I just am loving this so very much. Just mmmmmm! I don't smell compact powder scent at all. Really not any type of powder for me. I smell a sweet amber. And by the way, the spray comes out like a fine slow mist. I love that! This bottle is cute too.I'm just saying to Pinrose: please make a 3.4 oz of this! I will need much much more! By the way, I got mine at Riley Rose.

Pillowtalk Poet is a powdery but not very sweet "my skin but better" scent, perfect for when you want to smell good but not like you're wearing perfume, or if you're in a scent-sensitive work environment. As others mentioned, it smells a bit like powder makeup products. It lasts on me for several hours, especially on clothes, but its sillage is almost nonexistent. After it's dried drown I get a sort of marine note, possibly the ambergris. I really do wish it were stronger for the price.

This one is a LOVE for me. I bought a bottle at Sephora several years ago. It is a soft, powdery musk that is very calming and comforting. A great bedtime scent, but I wear it during the day as well. There is something about this that is a little bit sexy, but not in an obvious way. It is very inoffensive, so perfectly safe to wear to the office. Unfortunately, it seems to be discontinued, so I'm going to use the rest of my bottle sparingly. :(

i used to wear this one a ton forgot about it and then started wearing it again. i still love it so much! a very fresh and clean fragrance. dries down to soft powdery/musky. be warned that is does smell like alcohol when first sprayed but that goes away quickly. not a ton of projection/longevity. super comforting and cozy. also after its fully dried down it smells just a bit like not a perfume to me. perfect for after the shower or before bed.

I am in agreement with everyone who says this is perfect for wearing as you fall asleep. The longevity is not great, but it doesn't matter as much when you're sleeping. The visual I get from this is the softest, coziest-looking white fluffy cloud. It's lovely powdery musk, perfect for when you need a little extra something in the comfort department. FYI to all: if you're an Ipsy member, this often goes on sale in their shop for $16.

I am very new to fragrance...that being said, Pillowtalk Poet is my first true love in the perfume world. I love how it smells. Like...I can't stop smelling myself when I wear it, and every time I get a whiff I feel happy. I have heard that Pinrose fragrances don't last very long but I can smell Pillowtalk Poet for hours. I do use a dab of unscented moisturizer on my wrists before applying.

Clean, powdery, soft, nurturing and very feminine scent. From all Pinrose fragrances it is my favourite. It's calming and fluffy. It is not similar to oldschool powdery perfumes where powder tends to be heavy. This is more like baby powder with adult twist. Lasts reasonable amount of time. Ideal scent for bedtime or relaxing on couch during rainy day.

This lasts a short to moderate amount of time on skin, but lasts much longer on fabric. I love this scent. It’s a cool powder with some cozy musk that is so soothing and relaxing. I wear this at bed time because it is so comforting.

A lovely sweet powdery amber skin scent. It sits close and dries down in a lovely not-too-linear-but-no-surprises kind of way. Don't tell Juliette, but I might like this more than Not a Perfume.

This is a very odd scent for being from such a generic scent family (amber-y musky skin scents.) When I first put it on, it smells IDENTICAL to Kuumba Made Persian Gardens, which is delightful since I love that scent. That lasts all of 30 seconds before some of the strongest powder notes I’ve ever smelled come out. Strong as in, I almost need to sneeze after smelling it, since it feels so much like inhaling straight baby powder. It feels like it dries out the inside of my nose. It’s a very sweet powder with a bit of the sandalwood underneath but again, so powdery that it’s almost unpleasant to smell. Then eventually a lovely, woody amber emerges which is very pleasant and INSANELY long lasting. I’ve been putting this on before bed and I can still smell it 15 plus hours later. I honestly think I like it, even though the powder is so overwhelming.

This fragrance is what I wish Philosophy's Amazing Grace smelled like. It's primarily musk, which I don't mind--I don't get a lot of the powder that other people have said they smell, but the clove leaf comes out out strongly on me, and it mingles beautifully with the creamy musk to create this sort of comforting sugar-and-spice vibe. It's very long-lasting on me, and it lingers on clothes forEVER. I tried one of the sample towelettes about two weeks ago, and it's still so strong on the cardigan I was wearing that day that I can pick out the individual notes. I like the scent a lot, so that's a bonus for me, but it might not be for everybody. In short, it does exactly what its stated purpose is. It's a soft, warm, comforting, kind of old-fashioned scent that's best for those days when you just want to smell nice for yourself.

Here’s the thing with this fragrance. Yes, it is similar to Persian Garden by Kuumba made, Amber by Nemat & Xtra Milk/milk by Dedcool, but not right away. At first spray it’s subtle then extremely powdery and spicy (from the cloves?) but mainly just powdery until you get to the deep dry down. So on my skin, after about 45 min to an hour after applying-I finally start to get that beautiful amber scent. And it’s funny bc I can only smell it from wafts of moving around but can’t smell it if I put my nose right up to it. It is beautiful and semi long lasting. Definitely skin chemistry dependent, so this is just how it performs on me.

This is the warmest, comfiest musk fragrance I've ever tried. It's like a blanket fresh out of the dryer; not that it necessarily smells like one, but it gives that same sensation. On me it projects well. I've tried it in both cool and hot weather. Either way, it's a warm blanket, and I don't really want a warm blanket in summer temperatures. I have sample sizes of both this and Silent Street. The resemblance is superficial at best. Silent Street is strong, sharp, cold. Pillowtalk Poet is soft and warm. They're like siblings with completely different personalities.

On me, this is a clean yet warm and cozy skin scent. On the initial spray I get mainly powdery notes but as it dries down I get more of the ambergris, musk, and amber. Although cloves are listed as one of the notes, I can't smell them at all on me (though I wish I did!). While I do like this scent, it doesn't last more than 3-4 hours. Stays very close to the skin. I find this good for work (since only I can really smell it) or just lounging around at home.

All powder and talc and super soft. Pillowtalk sits in the category of safe, quiet skin scents that can be worn to work or even on a plane and your chances of offending anyone's senses are incredibly low. With that being said, I really do like it - as all the Pinrose collection that I have smelled. I wear it when I'm feeling low commitment and straightforward. This is NOT a complex scent, and it has a short longevity.

So lovely! This is what I hoped a scent like Glossier You would actually smell like. Warm, cozy, sexy, creamy, smoldering, almost smells like cookies or baked goods, but still very subtle and intimate. It’s a bit too girly for my taste but at least it doesn’t have the usual sickly baby powder feel of older white musk fragrances, or the boring iris and cedar combo of others. Doesn’t smell expensive but pretty!

This scent reminds me of fresh, clean bedding. It's sleeping in until the sun is up and the birds are singing outside, waking up feeling well-rested and content. I think this kind of scent has its place in a well-rounded collection. The longevity, sadly, is extremely poor. I want to smell this pleasant scent around me all day, but it vanishes quickly. The sillage is on intimate.

Such a dreamy scent. Like being wrapped up in blankets, cozy in your bed. I'm lucky that musks tend to last on me forever, because I can smell this on me all day. Sometimes clean scents can be too sharp to my nose, but this is the exact opposite of sharp. I'm a bit obsessed.

yummy, clean, & powdery. i love to spray my clothes with it. makes everything smell clean and cozy and lasts better on clothes than skin. don't keep it around too long, tho. i kept a tester vial for 4 years (give or take) and it turned really sour

Begins as Body Shop’s white musk and dries down to Old Spice. Very light even with several sprays. Low siliage. I agree with many reviewers that for around $80 CDN, it’s not interesting or long lasting enough to purchase a FB.

I did not expect to enjoy this as much as a I did--laundry and powdery scents are ones I tend to avoid. However, this is all amber, musk and ambergris on me. I layered it with Lil Dipper and they are perfect together.

Straightforward powder & linen scent. Not a showstopper by any means especially because it fades so fast but it is a great clean and comforting smell. I like to spritz this on after a shower and before bed.

This reminds me a lot of Rosie by Rosie Jane. Musky, sweet, and a skin scent. What's not to like? It's perfect for going to bed or when you want to wear something that's inoffensive and light.

Like all Pinrose scents I’ve tried this has no longevity. A pleasant mild scent but a white musk will given you similar results for a much more affordable price tag.

absorbs right into my skin, doesn't seem to last more than 10 minutes, I really like geranium frags so the performance was really disappointing.

Similar to nemat amber white and Xtra Milk, but a little soapier. Will not purchase again. But enjoyed it. Good atomizer and lasting power.

If you have silent street you definitely don't need this

On paper, this is right up my alley. I love a musky, slightly spicy powder bomb. And this is that, but... ...there's something I can't put my finger on. It smells like a slightly run-down office, like 4 different hand lotion smells hanging in stale air. And maybe one of those lotions is medicated? It's not long-lasting and the sillage is intimate. (What else would you expect from a frag called Pillowtalk Poet?) I think it's worth a shot if you're a powder fan and you can get it on sale.

Funny that a previous reviewer’s husband said it smelled like old lady... my husband walked by when I was wearing this and said “ugh, what smells like your parents’ house?!” 😂 (my mom famously oversprays Bath and Body Works “Moonlight Path.”) I actually like this fragrance fine, but I can see the similarities to my mom’s scent. My sample went straight in the trash due to that scent association. I’m trying a few musks but strongly prefer White Musk Libertine over this.

I would probably have much more positive things to say about this if I could actually smell it for more than 20 seconds, but alas... From the very brief time that I can smell it, I get a very soft, powdery scent with a hint of musk. There are no cloves present to my nose. Not a horrible scent by any means, but for the very weak staying power, I'm glad I only paid $13.50 for a travel spray from Ulta.

Omg this is such a beautiful scent. It is what I smell in my dreams. It would be my signature if it lasted more than 20 minutes on me. In the 20 minutes you can smell it, it starts out smelling like nothing but alcohol. The alcohol then fades to nothingness and then a clean powdery sophisticated light scent emerges. Its not too soapy and not too powdery to me. I only wish it had some projection.

Clean laundry with a vintage-y twist. This fragrance is lightly aldehydic with a mix of clean and dirty musks that remind me of an ancient bar of soap you might find in an old woman's powder room.

Working my way through my Pinrose towelette samples, and today I applied Pillowtalk Poet. I know I'm not going to get a lot of pushback, but I feel this entire line needs to go back to the drawing room. This is powdery pretty with a light ambergris note, but it lasts all of 15 minutes then it's so faint you can barely detect it. My nose literally has to be pushed up hard against my skin. I don't care that much about projection, I just want a little stamina. This line is not expensive, granted, but it's not cheap either. The argument that these are made for layering doesn't fly: why buy two poorly made scents just to play with layering? My favorite from this line continues to be Sun Saint. I bought it on the spot but then a few days later returned it because of performance issues. Their are a lot of perfumes I love in the $70 range, and sadly even though I like the initial 15 minute opening, it's not enough to warrant a purchase.

I was really curious when I saw the notes it was being advertised under--powder, musk, and ambergris. I wasn't sure what to expect from a mix of powder and animal scents. This was pretty far from what I was expecting, but it fits the name pretty well. I can see how this could smell like a pillow to some, but I get more of a powdered baby vibe. I think it's fine but underwhelming. My girlfriend hates it. She keeps yelling 'baby hands' and says it's the least sexy scent she's ever smelled me wear.

Straight up alcohol at first spray, within 5 minutes, it’s all but gone. If you bury your nose onto your skin, you get a whiff of powder. They should have named it Disappearing Poet. There is no oriental or spice to my nose. Powder and a bit floral, that’s it. This in no way, shape or form resembles Skin Musk to me. Thumbs down based mainly on performance

This scent was repulsive to me. . .animalic, I did get. I found this scent a little too close to the reality of the title. It was a hard pass. Fortunately, the scent lasted a whole 20 minutes before the torture of it was over. I did, however, enjoy several other of the pinrose scents.

Pillowtalk Poet is really what the names says. The first thing I smelled was the powderiness and within that, I caught just a little whiff of lavender. This is a a very gentle scent worn to unwind and get ready for bed. I could also see this as a soothing scent that can easily be worn around patients in a doctor’s office because it has s calming effect. It’s gentle, but people can still smell it. It’s so inoffensive though that no one could possibly be offended unless they don’t like the light skin-like scent of soap on someone’s skin after a shower. What I get is a little geranium with the powdery notes and definitely get the musk with the slight soapy smell of the ambergris in the dry down with a little sandalwood like you just got out of the bath. I’m not, however, picking up any of the clove. Also, there is just a hint of amber that gives it a tinge of sweetness, but it’s not confectionery sugar. It’s not by any means a statement making olfactory experience that turns heads and draw attention to you. What this does is like a CLEAN perfume does. Has you smelling clean and fresh. It does remind me of TerraNova’s China Musk I don’t get the votes above being mostly for fall and winter because this scent is light. For me, I find this scent best worn during warm weather. Highly recommended if you work in the medical field like I do, or use scent as a form of aromatherapy to sooth and calm frazzled nerves.

Received this one as a Christmas gift. It is very difficult for me to describe it (so far I haven't smelled another perfume like it), it's quite powdery and musky. For me it's a cozy scent - lots of ambregris. It's a scent for casual and cozy occasions. (Dec. 2016) Edit: So, since recently smelling Molecule 02 by Escentric Molecules I now know that Pillowtalk is an Ambroxan bomb. It smells like quite a lot like Molecule 02 but is brighter, more powdery and overall more feminine. Also, Pillowtalk has amazing longevity on my skin 10+ hours. If you like Molecule 02 but want a more fem take - Pillowtalk will make you happy. (Nov. 2017) I really like the review below by SumoTigerCat - this fragrance is so loud and long lasting on my skin it's really hard for me to accept that on some other people it could be a weak/soft skin scent, lol! I suspect that the people saying that it's weak have opposite skin chemistry as me OR they could be anosmic to the ambroxan which is the sort of aroma chemical some people can go in and out (or totally out) of being able to smell similar to Iso-E-super and others. I am obsessed with this fragrance. It is undoubtedly one of the best powdery fragrances released in the last 20 years. BUT, and it's a BIG but, silage is completely non existent. It disappears into almost nothing the second it dries on skin. I'm talking 10 minutes, tops. Super surprising since stuff with Ambergris typically sticks to me like glue. If this was re formulated to be stronger with silage that lasted a reasonable time I'd be stacking up on bottles and wearing it daily. But I just cannot see the point in wearing or buying again something which cannot be smelled by myself let alone anyone else! The price, while not outrageously expensive by any means, is simply too high for the performance of this fragrance. If I have to spray it literally 25 times a day like I would a drugstore cheapie, then it should cost 10$ like a drugstore cheapie! Anyway, I'm almost heartbroken and wish I'd never tried it because I fell in hard, fast love and it wasn't "Fate" after all. Oh well, You know what they say, 'Tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. lol
