Pinrose

Pinrose is like a weird elixir. Whenever I take off the cap to smell it, it's like the scent seeps out like an invisible smoke. I'm going to be honest, I really don't like the vibes that the company attaches to it with the Pinterest board of girls in red lipstick with red rose flower crowns, or the French techno in their SoundCloud playlist, though I appreciate their efforts to be more fun and appealing. To me, this is something I wear when I want to kick some a**. I'm really short, and it makes me feel less self conscious about it, because it makes me feel like me, but spicier and more biting. My name is Rose, and I always wear something with roses, but this is a rose that isn't afraid to snap at you. I'm pretty passive, I need that in my life. Sure, it might not be the most unique thing in the world, and it might not work on everyone (my friend told me that after a while on her, it smelled like bug spray!) but I really think it should be given a chance. It's not a masterpiece by any means, but it is memorable and has GREAT longevity. I woke up at 3 AM, drove 3 hours away, was in the heat most of the day, drove home and got back at 6 PM and I could STILL smell it. I only use 2 sprays of this. As for the sillage, one time I had it on, walked downstairs to tell my mom something, then went back upstairs when I saw her in our yard outside through the window and didn't want to bother her. A few seconds later, she came inside, and told me she smelled Pinrose in the living room.

Hmmmm...what an interesting fragrance. Interesting bad or interesting good, I'm really not sure. When I first put it on, I wanted to immediately take it off again. The clove and leathery notes were extremely sharp and almost chemical in nature. I wanted to gag. However, once the drydown started, I noticed more of the rose, and the clove smell calmed down. Also, the roses made their debut at this point, and they're a very pretty and delicate rose scent with a light soapy touch. It's definitely the best rose perfume I've come across for my chemistry, and I like the leather note, but I just don't know if I can handle the clove bomb at the beginning. Pinrose is familiar but different, and that's not a bad thing. I think I might put it on a "standby" purchase list if the other perfumes I wish to try don't pan out for something different.

I saw it at Marshalls on sale, read some quick reviews and voila, purchased it :) Glad I did on Sale thou. I am fan of Rosey scents, and this one I specifically like in combination with cloves. It has that dark soft rose if this makes sense, with incense, clove and pepper. Iris in the background softens it close to skin. However this is perfectly fine for daytime. It's weak power wise, 2-3hrs, it's almost as this is EDT or a very diluted perfume. I think this could be more concentrated and stronger. So full price is not worth it. Why is it so watered down. Think I'm going use it up by end of the year. Lovely scent, but wish it was stronger.

I actually purchased Pinrose accidentally. I had intended to order Pinrose Wild Child but made a mistake. It worked out fine, I like Pinrose and would describe it as a spicy but somewhat gentle rose. I like to wear this one when I go running sometimes. It's jazzy but not something I would wear all the time.

Niche-smelling Oriental spicy rose; almost like a rough draft of Guerlain's Déserts d'Orient collection—a steal for the price!

A big rose opening, and lemon tinged elemi. Nondescript, warm spices ground the rose and prevent it from being boring and too much. A bit of powdery iris, but it's starting to fade. The iris coupled with basenotes of ambergris and labdanum add a dusty, basement, earthy quality that is balsamic. It really makes this better. Then, it's gone. It's nice, but it doesn't last.

I don’t smell rose, all I smell upon first spritz is mint cough syrup, cloves, some anise and more cough syrup. I expected the very one with the brand name as it’s name to be fabulous. Well, to me it’s not. From the sample set I got I loved Pillowtalk Poet, Wild Child and Treehouse Royal.

I find Pinrose scents...odd. This one was unpleasant upon first application. After the drydown, you get a very green rose scent with a powdery sort of spice (the cloves, I suppose) hint in the background. Pinrose scents are often super-unisex, and this is no different.

This is a very simple perfume. It's rose and a bit of spice. I don't love it but I can appreciate an uncomplicated perfume. Rose can smell rather "old" and if you're looking for a perfume that's young and light this might be a pick.

I can't stand this. AND my hubby (who never can smell perfume and if he does, thinks all perfume smells the same) came in from the garage after I applied a sample of this and he stopped in his tracks about 5 ft from me, made a horrible face and said I smelled awful and to "throw that one out!". So yeah. Smells like strong, artificial rose - kind of reminds me of toilet air freshener my grams used to have.

I got so lucky and found the Pinrose Rollerball Wardrobe for $12 at a TJMaxx featuring 10 x 3 mL rollerballs from their collection (normally $60 and I see that it's sold out currently.) So grateful for the find! Pinrose Eau de Parfum is the first scent I'm trying from my set. This is a slightly spicy, resinous rose fragrance. It's in the style of rose attar, which is a surprising choice for the namesake fragrance of an American brand, especially one so mainstream and girly. Given its category, it is soft and wearable. The mid-notes do contain spicy clove, but although the clove is sharp, and keeps the rose sharp as well, the whole effect is somehow muted. The sweet ambergris really comes out on me as it dries down. Pinrose describes this fragrance as a rose/leather, but I don't really get leather (which also isn't listed as a note.) The fragrance does have a similar character as leather fragrances, though - the same smoothness and smokiness. It's not a bad-girl, rough leather feel, though. This is very soft, comforting, without being a powdery or overly sweet rose. I have enjoyed wearing it, but it's not unique enough for me to crave a full bottle. I prefer my spicy roses to be more intense than this. Although Pinrose describes this perfume to be for someone who is confident, I rather think this rose is better suited for someone who loves spicy roses but is more reserved.

I don’t know if it’s because I bought this scent on Mercari or what but it does not smell at all how I remember it. When I sprayed it on my wrist, it smelled exactly like nail polish remover. I used to love this scent when I got a sample of it from Sephora a while back. I don’t know if this one went bad or if it’s just not authentic, I mean it looks authentic but I couldn’t believe how strongly it smelt of nail polish remover? I have been on the hunt for a good rosy fragrance that smells kind of like Lancôme’s Mille et une roses. I had the one in that pretty blue tear shaped bottle from 2000 and I absolutely love that fragrance but I have yet to have find anything quite like it. I saw that they re-released it, but I’ve heard it doesn’t smell quite as good as the original. I never used to really be a huge fan of rose scented fragrances, but that one drastically changed my mind. It’s kind of like a rose but with vanilla, amber, and musk added in and it smelled so heavenly, if anyone has any good recommendations, I’d greatly appreciate it.

I spritzed some of this on my hand at Sephora among other things today and felt sort of meh about it. The early phases were a bit too harsh, though not unpleasant. A spicy rose scent. Somewhere in the middle of the fresh to dark rose spectrum. Many hours later, I smelled what must've remained in the web part of my last 2 fingers and for the life of me could not remember what I sprayed there that smelled like POAL! So, reading someone else's comparison to POAL makes sense, at least in the far drydown. It didn't recall that for me when I first sprayed it on. Glad that mystery's been solved!

This is billed as a modern rose-and-leather scent and I suppose it is that. However, Pinrose lacks panache and charisma. It smells like an early attempt by a young, promising perfumer: nowhere near a masterpiece but a step in the right direction. An example of a sophisticated leather note is Chanel Cuir de Russie. An example of a sophisticated rose note is Aerin Rose de Grasse. I will say that the rose note in Pinrose is intriguing enough, but the leather note is rather cheap and basic. It's most disappointing when a fragrance shows a possible brilliance but falls way short :(

Pinrose smells like a very close dupe of Malle's Portrait of a Lady. I didn't have the latter to compare this side by side, but it was such a dead ringer that if I had smelled it off of someone else, POAL is what I would have guessed it was. I get the jammy rose and the vanilla, but I also get quite a bit of incense and labdanum. I don't get much clove despite it being listed as a note, but it could just be really well blended.

I get a lot of rose initially but the clove really becomes prominent on me almost immediately (after 15 minutes or less) and is perhaps distracting. However, my friend purchased this perfume and it is a sexy, leathery rose on her that smells sophisticated and subtle. Overall I think it is still one of the better offerings from this brand. Recommend layering with Wild Child or Gilded Fox.

This is very different from the other Pinrose offerings. For one thing, it has the sillage and longevity that most of the other Pinrose line lacks. It's also a more mature, gothic feel. A dark syrupy red rose back up by a sharp spiciness. Reminds me of Middle Eastern attars. Beautiful and nostalgic, takes my imagination to something that could have been worn centuries ago.

This is an arabic rose! fortunately no too much oud present...at least to my nose but this is a tricky scent, not your usual pink girly perfume, it is very light but long lasting...mature but not dated, somehow it reminds me of Sa Majeste la rose from Lutens, and Micallef's royal rose aoud...office friendly, the most interesting scent offering from this company.

Soft rose with faint tartness from the cloves, and powdery vanillic base. Sheer and sweet. Nice. A light pretty rose-forward perfume. It doesn't wear dark on me as it does for other reviewers.

I don't think this smells like POAL at all, it's a soft powdery soft base mixed with delicate, slightly raspberry jam'd rose with not a smidge of patchouli in sight. Very ballerina-esque.
