Playboy Malibu

Wanted to give an updated review of this as my last review was quite long This scent is a GEM in the fragrance world and I'd put this fragrance in the same category as Nautica Voyage in that it's a cheapie but goodie and easily 1 of the best cheapie frags but also 1 of the best summer frags I have in my rotation. When I first tried this I liked it but I was seriously surprised on how good this smelled and the compliments I have gotten with this have caused it to crack my top 5 most complimented scents of my 120 + fragrances I own. This opens up with a very fresh,crisp,semi sweet watery opening and then once this dies down it becomes more citrusy,slightly powdery and green. This stuff is very refreshing and easily 1 of the most pleasant and inoffensive scents I own. For me this is a perfect scent as I'm a personal trainer and I want to smell good but I also want something that's light and won't offend as well. Also works well as a gym scent and hot weather scent as its very crisp and light so it doesn't become stuffy. My girlfriend LOVES this stuff and said the only scents she loves (not likes) in my collection are Aventus,Givenchy play,Nautica blue and Playboy Malibu. I've also received many compliments from clients,random strangers and friends on this fragrance which was a big shock as I have scents that I thought would have done a lot better than this in compliment category. ( even beats out Chanel allure sport,Sauvage, BDC, and many niche scents) Performance on this is also pretty decent as well. This lasts me 6-8 hours but this only has moderate projection. However, the silage on this is nice. Overall rating --- 8 out of 10 !!! VERY solid scent that gets compliments for an amazing price. Only knocks I have on this scent are that I wish it projected more and even though this is a great scent it's not extremely unique or anything,

It's a WONDERFUL perfume. A friend uses it, and the only thing I can think of when I'm near him is that I'd like to crawl into his armpit and die there. It makes my mouth water. I love the musky tone, but it's not too heavy and smells clean and fresh. Can't say much about longevity etc., but I think the deodorant lasts pretty long.

It took me a while to get it, but WELL worth it. Sweet/powdery and wears into a light almost fruit scent as time passes. It lasted a good while, even when I was doing more physical activities. I found out me and my little brother both used Malibu and about died laughing. Guess great minds think alike? Very happy with this scent.

Yup, this is a keeper! Having tried quite a few cheap colognes, this is absolutely a bargain! I have not tried all in the Playboy series (the VIP was for instance so bad, I immediately got nauseous and had to throw it away) but between Ibiza and this, Malibu is the winner. A nice summer scent!

This is one of the best from all of the Playboy line along with New York. This is a really good ocean smelling fragrance with a little bit of strength to it. It really smells like a beach front night time party. I give this a 9.4/10

My fiance have this one! smell realy good! In fact he have the four bottle miami, vegas, malibu and ibiza but my favorite is this one!

I'm a fan of the Playboy line and I have several of them. For the price point ($11 for a 3.4 oz bottle) you can't go wrong. The only problem I have with Malibu is that it doesn't project. At all. And there is no sillage to speak of. I experimented with some heavy spraying on my forearms and neck and sat out the dry down. The top notes although very pleasing are a flash in the pan. After a short period of time I reapplied to try and create some project and sillage and I just couldn't do it. This one is pleasurable if you are sitting around or lying in bed working on your computer. You can enjoy the scent in this manner. It would take a very intimate closeness for someone else to enjoy the scent however. All in all still well worth the $10-15 you'll spend for a sizable bottle.

Not sure what to make of it... I was expecting a minty topnote but I got a flowery(IRIS/Jasmine?)topnote. But after half an hour it settles into a nice scent. Not great ....just nice. It is also a heady fragrance. So it could induce headaches in the beginning as it is a strong smell and yet it does not last long. Is this just because it was a cheapy.... Also, Recently I was very impressed with the notes and ingredients in Playboy and Addidas, but one cannot really experience the ingredients fully when actually applied on skin. MARCEL

It smells so nice. At first it smells like many other men fragrances, with a fresh citrus splash. So I thought, well, another cloned boring scent. But then the freshness and the cleanliness keeps growing and you stay with a wonderful fragrance. This is a great composition, especially to wear during the day and probably summer/spring. I sprayed twice and it seems to fade away quickly and stay close to the skin. Still, this is a great fragrance for a great price too.

Malibu is good for a cheap fragrance. Very fresh and sweet. It's almost an aqua scent. Doesn't seem to last long, though the drydown is a "close to the skin" orange/bergamot scent. This would be great for throwing in your suitcase to take on a summer holiday. If it was a little stronger it would really be a player because it does have a very nice smell.

well actually this is a lovely one always used this before i get to my bed and every time i feel so relax, comfortable and clean but only used this in my bed time not suitable for hanging out/date/work/club/casual because this is too weak and the smell just too common and general doesnt last long and it wont project out

This was the first cologne i bought when i was a kid, this give me a lot of nostalgia. I never smelled something actually similar to this, it's pretty unique but also simple i would say. It's a syntetic and generic summer fragrance with performance issues but for the price it's excellent, good work Playboy. 7/10

Smells great but biggest gripe is how it doesnt last, you have to put a generous amount on to have anyone even notice you have it on little advice is to apply it on places where you generate heat(ex.chest,neck,shoulders) and reapply after 2-3 hrs otherwise the scent is fresh and nice.

So u need an after shave? Here you go! It's a nice fresh cheap ETD, but i wouldn't use it for any other purpose because it smells too simple and alcoholic.

Soft sexy fragrance. Lasts fr an hour !!

I am a female and I like wearing this because it lasts on my skin and all day I get little wiffs of it without it smelling like a guys aftershave. I like female perfumes which are a little masculine like Pure Turquoise by Ralph Lauren and Velvet Hour by Kate Moss. A lot of the female perfumes are very girly and sweet so I thought after reading the reviews here that I would try this range and I am glad I did. Some guys say it doesn't last I am not sure if this lasts on my skin because it is stronger than a female perfume. It smells like Cool Water Women by Davidoff to me which I have worn for years so I think for a lot of men it would be a little too light and feminine but on the right chemistry it could smell really nice. It is mildly sweet and aquatic when first sprayed. When it dries it is a subtle musk and a similar musk to what is in the female Playboy range. If you are female and like a perfume that is sweet but not too girly then these are perfect. If you are a guy and want something light and slightly sweet without smelling like you have a female perfume on then this one is just right. They do have to be re applied throughout the day but they only cost 12$ so what do you expect. The female playboy perfumes are just as weak I find I have to respray them.

I found Miami, Vegas and Hollywood at a not so high end dept. store and this is the only one I could not find so Father's Day last year(2009) my friend and I split a gift set of all four scents (before Ibiza) and I got this... I was expecting a CW wannabe but to my surprise it was what the press release claimed: clean, crisp but to me nothing like the ocean itself. The top is sweet but clean and crisp at the same time all the notes combine to make something more than the sum of the parts, not fruity, not too green and not overly citric-floral; just right... The heart beats with pulses of flowers+ woody herbs that pull me in further to a very smooth finish thats neither formulaic nor too oriental despite tonka, sandalwood and cashmere wood. Sillage: definite skinscent Longevity: reapply often after 2 hrs Overall: 2.5/5 This despite low marks is really a pure, nice light summer scent or one to put on if you want something soft and clean for intimate times or after a shower before bed...
