Playboy VIP for Him

After all these years of having colognes there are only a few colognes that consistently stay in your collection as staples and oddly enough this cheapie but goodie has and will stay in my collection as it’s amazing onits own but especially at this price point. This smell is a very nice blend that I’d describe as smooth,creamy,slightly boozy,warming,seductive but also at the same time it has a unique freshness that keeps it from being cloying even with excessive sprays. I’m also very confident that if this had a Guerlain or Dior label that this would be a top seller. The main notes I personally smell are the chocolate,apple,rum and lavender which all happen to be some of my favorite notes in fragrance ! Caution though that the opening is a little synthetic but if you give this scent some time this blends beautifully and it’s 1 of my favorite dry downs of all time as it’s a great mix of creaminess and freshness. Performance on this is decent but only if you spray 10-12 sprays. This sounds extreme but this is a scent you have to douse yourself in if you want to get noticed. But, the good news is that even with some very sweet notes it doesn’t become cloying. It lasts me 4-8 hours and doesn’t project a ton but it does leave a very nice scent bubble and decent Sillage. Compliment wise this is 1 of my best compliment getters as it appeals to people that like both sweet and fresh scent as again it’s a nice balance of both types of scent and my gf LOVES this scent and requests I wear it from time to time.VIP is also a nice starter gourmand scent for those wanting to try something new. Overall rating— 8.5 out of 10 ! Very beautiful scent that gets compliments,is universally liked by everyone, and for the price it doesn’t get much better than this. This goes in the cheapie but goodie hall of fame for sure !!!

I really like this. I smell...pineapple? That's not a listed note but taken as a whole that's what I get. It was one of the first fragrances that I bought after deciding to start wearing them again. I liked the shiny gold bottle, it was cheap, and it said Playboy. It grabbed me and said I'm going home with you. Playboy just has a way of doing that for males. Lol. It doesn't last long on me (2.5-3 hours) but I can just spray more since it was like $8 at Hellmart. I also don't feel guilty using it because it's cheap and I know I can actually find it at the one store within an hour of me. I have better and nicer but I find myself using this a bunch when I'm in a hurry and don't want to think about which cologne to wear. Most people like pineapple (and LOVE chocolate, and ADORE rum, haha!) so it's safe and it's not so strong that I fill up the room with my scent presence. Now, it us a sweet scent with a gourmand take on pineapple (or apple and rhubarb, the actual listed notes), not sharp or citrusy.

This was the first cologne I ever bought. I was maybe 10. Years later, I bought another bottle of it for the nostalgia. It is absolutely fantastic. It is quite sweet, but it works well. The blend is difficult to describe, but it is boozy with hints of wood. Obviously, it has a negative stigma due to the brand and extremely affordable price. Despite this, it is one of my favorite colognes, and it really does punch far above its weight. In accord with the playboy brand, it is a fun, out-there scent. I find this one fun, relaxed, and casual, but with excellent taste. I highly recommend everyone (including women) try it out. I believe it has been discontinued, but it is still available for 10-20 euros. Absolutely lovely cologne.

I'm a woman who wears this and loves it! It starts out pretty masculine which I think is mostly the rhubarb mixed with bergamot. Wish I could detect at least a little of the rum note, as that's one of my favorites. But within an hour or less the sweet drydown leaves me with a creamy white chocolate/vanilla sandalwood that is sublime. Very understated and a great unisex fragrance! Excellent for layering. My hubby wouldn't like this since he doesn't care for sweet notes but this dries down to be something so subtle I find it hard to tell the difference between this and many of my perfumes. It's creamy, it's dreamy, it's affordable and a great value. I'd encourage a man OR a woman to give it a go. :)

blind bought this based off reviews, I had smelled jordon and i must say this is better. I wouldn't say they smell the same. Jordon to my nose is a lot stronger and has a pungent cloying smell to it, neither jordon or this smell like rochas man. Rochas man has a deep and darker coffee/mocha layer to it these don't. this is very nice though, not overpowering. Not as chemical as i thought it would be. Not too shabby at all

This is absolutely irresistible!! To me its up there with le male, blue jeans, and ck one shock. What I like about this is, its not super woody and spicy. I can only stand so much spice. I like the smooth rum and white chocolate notes. The watery accords and apple work very well in this to freshen it up. This is one I want again when I run out.

I really love this, as much as I didn't even care enough for the female version to smell it. I've smelled this one by accident and was shocked at how good it is. Not overly sweet but rather subtle, with the white chocolate really lovely, it has a good presence. And apparently I'm a sucker for rum. Lovely to smell it on a guy, or on myself.

I love this one! This is probably the best Playboy fragrance on the men's side. It's sweet and boozy with some tonka bean and apple. It's good for colder weather but it's not overboard. It does run a bit feminine because it's sweet but it's still a masculine fragrance. Initial spray blows my socks off every time. It's good!

Im going to try and get back into wearing this again. Ive avoided it because of some memories that it brought back but I still love it. And I agree with what a reviewer wrote at the bottom, it does resemble Britney Spears's fantasy to an extent and then it reminds me of axe dark temptation.

A very creamy and decadent fragrance. Its opens with like a shot of rum cream. Within a few hours the fresh lavender notes kick in and makes it very interesting. The creamy white chocolate scent is mostly what you'll get. Its a nice casual scent and could be worn for a date.

Sexy rum and vanilla smell with hints of apple and white chocolate. Lasts around 6 hours and projects okay for maybe an hour but goes to a skin scent. Very good for intimate situations e.g a date night. But for £10-£15 this is something I can definitely recommend. 8/10

This is amazing, I love the smell! I got it for Christmas!!! I put some on last night at 8pm, and I got up this morning at 12 (noon) and I could still smell it. The smell is really light, refreshing, and relaxing, my favourite cologne!

Antonio banderas Seduction in Black, Armani Code, Axe Dark Temptation. These all have the ultra sweet Vanilla, Tonka Bean note. VIP is great and a budget brand. I'd like a full bottle of this myself. Very noticable and room filling.

2 words.. "Rochas Man" ..... It smells exactly like it... If you like gourmet fragrances & like Rochas Man, then you will like this, especially considering its 1/5 of the price.. Check it out...

I like to wear masculine fragrances from time to time and this one is definitely one I'd recommend to other women. It smells sweet but not too sweet. I really enjoy it.

Bought it on a whim when it was on sale, now one of my favorites ever. It smells much better than any of the Axe products. Very classy and sophisticated scent.

Smells better and is longer lasting than Michael Jordan Legend and Rochas Man. Cheaper than both too. The white chocolate note is terrific.

Coty swung for the fences on this one and hit it out of the park. This is a massive leap forward for the Playboy brand name, the first male release that will attract more than a legion of pubescent teens looking for a cheaply priced and marketed product promising a guaranteed trip to second base on date night by cashing in on the name brand recognition of a dementia sufferer on Viagra parading around as a connoisseur of bleach blonde bimbos from trailer parks across North America. VIP is a nice gourmand unique for its price point. It even smells better on top than the recent Hugo Red release for men that has this same rhubarb prominence on top but falls apart with the synthetic metallic notes. With this you get just a pinch of fresh citrus that fades quickly as the rhubarb takes control two minutes in. The rhubarb takes center stage for a couple songs (10 minutes) before the rum comes forward and claims its place of prominence and the rhubarb becomes a background singer. While the rum comes forward you can begin to smell the uplift of the synthetic but still well done white chocolate note here that was beautifully balanced by the rhubarb and cream soda like tonka in this one that smells just a bit gingery and uplifting. The dry down keeps the white chocolate prominent while the rhubarb flickers out, replaced by a more prominent presence of tarty red apple. Longevity is very solid for a Playboy at 5-7 hours depending on skin chemistry and this one projects moderately the first hour and a half before settling into a skin scent. One of the reviewers below is absolutely correct in calling this an extremely sensual and reliable close quarters scent. It's a fantastic budget fragrance that deserves more appreciation. Is easily found for between $5-$10 after Christmas in many department stores on clearance and will serve your rotation well in winter in your oriental arsenal, especially come Christmas time. This is sweet, but never really cloying or unbalanced. It is very adeptly balanced and evolves nicely in four tiers and ends as a creamy white chocolate layer cake topped with tarty rhubarb and apples. Thought the whole VIP mantra is a cheap and silly reference to night clubs, think MVP instead, as this is a bargain basement performer here that rises well above its price point and establishes itself as one of the great cheap gourmands along side Jordan Legend, Cuba Prestige and Animale Animale. Scent: 8/10 Longevity: 7/10 Sillage: 5.75/10 Creativity: 8/10 Value: 10/10

Top: I get a citrus powdery type of a smell. The citrus is obviously the bergamont and the powder is from the Tonka (Which on my skin ironically is present in the top not the base) The rhubarb is also present and blends quite nicely with the powdery citrus smell. The run is present but in the background for now. It's pleasant enough. Mid: In the mid the Rum really comes out and is paired with the apple accord, I do not get any "water notes". This is by far the best part of the fragrance along with the best part of ANY playboy fragrance. (Note that I am a fan of the other playboy fragrances as well) It is sweet, rich, and creamy, which is due to the rum. The best way that I can describe it is a Caramel Candy Apple. Its is beautifully blended and absolutely invigorating! The lavender is also there but very suddel... It is that kind of note that must be looked for. Base: Basic playboy drydown, if you have ever used any of the previous playboy scents than you know what I mean. It's not bad, just a very basic sandalwood and sweet musk. However this dry down does slightly separate itself from its predasecors by the white chocolate which makes it slightly sweeter, I also give playboy credit because this base smells a little bit less synthetic than it usually does. **Personally I do not see any resemblance between this and one million, and very little similarities to Axe dark temptation, which is painfully synthetic. It projects better than any of the other PB scents (3-6 feet do the first little while) then projects about a foot until it eventually comes closer to the skin. Longevity is hand in hand with projection, much better than you typical PB fragrance. 7-9 hours. This scent is appropriate for nearly any occasion in cooler weather, with the exception of anything too formal. For the price it is nothing short of a masterpiece and a great fragrance for teens. Fifth Review on Fragrantica. I am new to fragrances and blind purchased a lot of different bottles from various designers, spring of 2019. I am an American male in my 20s. Playboy's VIP for Him is part of my very last batch of fragrances I purchased, roughly a month ago. This is probably my cheapest, best purchase so far. The progression of this fragrance is fairly one-dimensional. It explores a resinous rum and smooth, vanilla-like chocolate with sweet red apple and tart rhubarb. The tonka bean and sandalwood keep this fragrance sweet and balsamic, which I'd say are its main accords (next to rum). There's really not much else to say that hasn't already been said. It is simply enjoyable. The longevity is poor, but re-application wouldn't an issue. And it does last longer than other cheap fragrances at its price, with 1-2 hours. Sillage is about within arm's reach, you can be liberal with this as it is so smooth and balmy that it would be hard to over spray. Probably best for dates in the Fall, where close proximity would be met. Overall I love the scent of this, and I think if it was higher quality it'd be one of the best gourmands out there. The scent itself gets a 8.5/10 for me. My experiences are limited so it's fair to say I have yet to come across a gourmand that reminds me of this, or anything else so far in my fragrance journey. I'd highly recommend this to any novice or veteran fragrance collector, man or woman. I managed to purchase this from Pharmapacks for $4.72, after a coupon was applied, for the size 3.4 fluid ounces. Hopefully this helps someone.

Playboy VIP owes much to the Tim McGraw line for paving the way for boozy, sweet, tarty sour mainstream fragrances sold at affordable prices for the bargain hunter. This is a very impressive release by Playboy, which along with Hollywood, are two very good budget fragrances that can easily be had after Christmas for around $5 a bottle at any American Walgreens, K-Mart or Walmart. Dipping its feet into the realm of gourmand, VIP blasts off with a sour, tarty rhubarb and red delicious apple with boozy, sweet rum. After about 15 minutes the white chocolate cake rises into the mix and balances the fragrance into something rather enjoyable and nice. Sure, you can smell the synthetics and this will easily be dismissed by many of the elitists on our boards who don't respect anything that doesn't say Dior, Mugler (even though they can't pronounce it) or fit into the niche category; but for those looking for a cheap starter fragrance for the 25 and under crowd, this is a great fall, winter, spring fragrance that doesn't project that strongly that the synthetics get in the way of an enjoyable wear and that has decent longevity at around 5-8 hours, which is remarkable for a Playboy (they usually average around four hours). Smells like a white chocolate rum cake with a side of apple pie with whipped cream on top; with a few synthetics in between. Not bad at all.

This is a great scent for the price that could be worn all year around because it has moderate sillage and can't easily get cloying This is a fresh spicy sweet scent for younger people but nobody says a more mature man can't pull it off. It is very playful and is kinda hard to dislike it because it is well balanced. When you first spray this for the following 20-30 seconds you will get an alcohol smell that will burn your nose if you smell it so wait a little.Then you get a heavy boozy spicy smell (Bergamot just doesn't exist) which will last for 5 minutes and then you will have a Spicebomb Eau Fraiche (maybe at this time the Bergamot might play a small role), much more sweetened(Apple & White Chocolate) and with touch of boozines (Rum),the Apple despite the sweetness it adds up gives it a fruity feeling as well.This will be the smell till the end with small to no changes.It actually surprises me that there is not a single spice note mentioned. Its longevity and sillage are both average sou you will need 4-6 sprays of this depending on your skin type and climate conditions and you will be ok. Great bargain scent that totally worths a blind buy. EDIT : After smelling CK Reveal the other day that if there was a resemblence with Spicebomb Eau Fraiche before,CK Reveal is the more expensive brother of this one.

I will say right off the bat my biggest gripe is that of performance. If it did not last the little amount of time that it does I would be more apt to wear it as I REALLY like the smell! It's rather unique among fragrances, and I find the comparisons it has to fall short. It is not an Ultramale clone nor a Rochas Man clone, I find it to be wholly unique from the two. It has a few similar notes, but one big difference is the clean backing to this one! It's clean and boozy! The rhubarb, rum, and white chocolate create something wonderful! It is youthful, but it is not offensively such. It's sweet but smooth, and for less than ten bucks I think it's great! I wear it around the house and occasionally when I work due to it not being loud but smelling great. Really good stuff, but if someone asks me what I'm wearing you know I'm not saying Playboy lol. You could get away with wearing this in summer due to that clean backing in my humble opion! Certainly spring at the least. Do spray a bit more or a bit less as you see fit, it's not offensive. The PR One Million comparison is really off imo also tbh, don't find a simularity personally. If this was a song it'd be The Good Life by Weezer.

A friend who works in a drug store gave me their tester bottle of this when they replaced the brand. With the Playboy name on it, I almost didn't try it, but I checked out the reviews here first and decided to give it a chance. The initial hit was just... strange, a combination of rhubarb and sandalwood, mixed with soap and candy. I was about to throw it out, but after a few minutes it mellowed out and the sweetness of tonka bean and white chocolate began rise to the top, beating the sandalwood/lavender combo into submission. Over time it changes little, remaining sweet and almost feminine, but still retaining enough smoky, aromatic notes that only a man could wear it well. It is not long-lasting and the projection is weak, but that's okay. This is a scent for an intimate evening with your sweetheart, not a business trip, so strength is unnecessary. If you can get past the incongruous notes at the top, your patience will be rewarded with almost addictive white chocolaty goodness. Since you can pick this up for less that $10 an ounce, it's a definite buy.

I previously posted a review for Playboy VIP for Him but as time goes on I like it less and less. I don't hate Playboy VIP as much as Hollywood or Play it Wild, but I don't really like it anymore like I do with New York or London. Playboy VIP fits most Playboy's typical scent profile, a sweet, cheap young man fragrance. It is a good scent for college students but it shouldn't last much after you turn 25. To me Playboy VIP is a slight mix of Michael Jordan Legend, Mugler A Men and Yves Saint Laurent L'Homme, but with a rum note and is dominated by white chocolate. A weird mix but that is what Playboy VIP. Playboy VIP is a scent that could work as a day or night scent for work or dates. It lasts for up to 6 hours but typically 5 with an hour to two of good projection. I do like Playboy VIP but I can't rate it higher than a 7 out of 10.

Playboy VIP for Him opens like with a conventional men cologne of lavander. But after about 15 minutes, it turns into a warm scent of apple and rum, quite yummy, although the lavander cologne vibe never really leaves. I don't get a lot of white chocolate. There is a slight milky feel but it doesn't really have the powdery texture of white chocolate in some fragrances. The late drydown is dominated by tonka bean, combined with apple and rum, I sometimes get a ripe banana illusion. The sillage is relatively close but the scent remains intense, and the longevity is around 8 hours. Playboy VIP is really nothing complicated, just a simple yummy fragrance. There are certainly other more interesting gourmand fragrances, but if you only need an occasional apple pie fix, considering the price, Playboy VIP is really not bad.

I got this for my husband because I loved the sweet, sexy smell of it. He has more expensive colognes, but to me, this smells expensive. It smells very well blended and mellow. It just smells intoxicating to me. It smells somewhat similar to Bod Man Body Heat(hope they add this to database soon) which is another I really like. I like sweet, but masculine scents on my husband and this one really is both. I just know my husband pulls off this kind of scent well. Edit: I sometimes spray the bed with this because it's so great smelling. When spraying the bed tonight I noticed this isn't as purely masculine as some colognes. I think I might try wearing this myself because I love sweet scents. I think this is unisex enough that I can pull it off. I wonder if my husband will notice ;)

My boyfriend and I were just in K-mart, and they had the new testers out for Christmas. Since he really liked Playboy Vegas, he spritzed some of this on him. WOW! I like this so much better than any of the other Playboy scents that he has. It's a warm and spicy aroma that really stands out! I tried the women's version on me, and I didn't like it nearly as much. I'm thinking of giving it a try myself. Edit - After trying the VIP on my skin, I conclude that this smells much better on my boyfriend than it does on me. :-( It smells too much like aftershave on me. But it still smells great on him!

Another decent cheapy from Playboy. Okay it's nothing earth shattering but for the price of £4.99 for 100ml you can't complain. My instant thought when I first smelt this was sweet yet spicy white chocolate! Performance is good, in accordance with the price. It projects mildly for 30 mins; lasts on the skin for 2-3 hours. I keep this in my drawer at work and if I feel like I need a quick spritz I will use it. Unique yet non-offensive, not too loud, and when it eventually runs out I could purchase it again without breaking the bank, so, 7/10 overall.

Had a bottle of this in college long before I ever really got into fragrances, thought it was pretty good. Well I found my old bottle with about 5ml left in a cupboard somewhere. I just sprayed it for the nostalgia. And you know what? Not bad. Very sweet, smells a lot like JPG Elixir to me, but not as rich and heavy, so I think it would be easier to pull this off in warmer weather. Longevity probably sucks tho 😅 and this bottle is probably 10 years old so it could be way different than current batches. Who knows.

Not bad. I'm a woman and I bought this for me. It's nice, sweet and gourmand but still retains a masculine edge. Very unisex. If I had a man that smelled like this, I would be so happy! I love another reviewer below who said Magic Mike would smell like this! It's true he would. It's minutely sleazy, a pretty boy who likes the clubs but underneath is a bit of a sweetheart would like this.

The Playboy VIP smells like a mix of "le Male" and "Blue jeans" and they are simaler or blended well, I was confused when I first smelled it on a man. I can decipher scents I know but I was stumped. I got the body spray cause its nothing but second best for me at moment. I dig it...untill everyone starts to

Actually not bad considering the price, very sweet fragrance. However, no one will know you're even wearing a fragrance due to it's horrendous sillage, lasts about 2-3 hours as well. Unless you're gonna be in 1 cm vicinity of someone, don't wear this one. Overall, not bad for such a cheap fragrance.

Very sweet chocolate/vanilla and apple notes. One of the sweetest men's fragrances I have tried. There definitely is a similarity to Rochas Man. The dry-down is the most pleasant part. For the price, this is really great value.

I bought it for $17 last night at Wal*mart. It smells lovely and sweet in the drydown. Very strong and a hint of rum in the top notes. Its soft, but potent. I love it.

Great fragrance! To me, Playboy VIP is similar to Ulric de Varens, The price is what makes it really good. Bought it for 5 €. It is easely worth the double :-)

Playboys version of Ultra Male. They are 90% the same fragrance, this is slightly sweeter though still a great cheap alternative

Mild white chocolate rum fragrance.If it has bit more projection and longevity then it can beat any designer fragrance.
