TO BE The King

Really delicious, lemon and nutmeg and orange flower and other notes, both warm and fresh, just beautifully blended into a sparkling whole. Definitely as good on women as on men; my wife bought it as a lucky accident, and it is just so wonderful on her. Not massive projection, I can smell the deliciousness close to her at the end of a long, hot day still--wonderful longevity. Smells far more expensive than it is. Weirdly reminds me of Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue; when I wear that, it's not like we match so much as we accord with each other. I kind of adore the bottle. It's surprisingly comfy to hold, and just so delightfully ridiculous to hold such an elegant scent. My son calls it the Assassin's Creed Black Flag perfume. :) Nothing but love for this one.

The reviews about this is very mixed. Seems like it's either a hit or miss with people. But personally, I love this. It's a spicy sweet ambery scent that does not bur a hole in my wallet. It does have a synthetic smell but the good kind, and definitely smells expensive. The projection is moderate but the dry down smells so creamy to me, with that tonka and amber note (and strangely some cashmer wood?), it's stays beautifully on my skin during the hot Indian summers. The opening is spicy fresh but yes, it dies out soon. Longevity is a solid 5+ on my skin (remember I'm from a high heat and humidity area, so I'll take that as good). It's a safe and sweet office fragrance that gets the job well done during the summers.

I would have to disagree with homey below me. This stuff is well-above average, and the staying power is at least 6 - 8 hours on my skin. This stuff is a gem, and it's too bad it has been discontinued! Compliments abound! Doesn't seem to make sense in the summer either. It is a heavy, woody scent ... definitely for cooler months.

I love this stuff - amazing!!! Great value for money - smells like an expensive mans EDP but at a bargain price!!! Will be stocking up as much as possible!! :)

I managed to get a test of this from my friend who seems to collect the To Be the King series (has about 6 bottles of this plus many of the special editions!) It's definitely an interesting fragrance, I can see why he likes it. It's an odd mix of light and dark at the same time. I got heavy notes of citrus, but also wood and licorice from it, which really surprised me. Going by the brand, bottle and price, I expected a generic, fresh, synthetic mess, but what I got was something very different, like no fragrance I've smelled before. That said, the aforementioned synthetic-ness was still there to some degree. It had that headache inducing sweetness, and seemed to stay very linear on my skin, so I could see it becoming cloying and tedious after a while. So I don't think it's a fragrance I'd ever buy, but I'm glad to have smelled it. It's one of those fragrances that I hate to like, but I kinda do. It just has a pleasing quality that I can't really put my finger on. 5/10

Skin test, summer day, a bit muggy and overcast. Ooh this is nice to start with, I get a fresh, rounded, doll head plastic, and liquorice or aniseed feel to it. It leans clean, and flattens out. It's sorta ballpark jpg le male - ish Lapidus the brown box one. It's a familiar profile.. I can't quite place it completely.. I'd say quite happily unisex - but only for someone who actually wears men's scents as well as women's- otherwise it's a men's scent. Good airy projection fir the first hour or so then it quietens down. Very wearable

One of the fragrances that my twenty-year-old nephew uses, I took the opportunity to test it on myself. TO BE The King by Police created by Pierre-Constantin Guéros is an amber-boises-spicy fragrance, enveloping, welcoming, I would define it unisex: The cardamom notes are perceived ringing at the juste pulvérisé, at the dry a deep amber heart emerges. At the dry down, the boises and resinous notes are the masters. Amber sillage.

Without doubt To Be: The King is my favourite of the "To Be" Police line of fragrances. Spicey, sweet, balsamic/aromatic - very nice indeed. Very uplifting and compliments abound. Lasts and projects well (it's not a powerhouse like Paco - $1million but in the same category of scent). Oh and did I mention the price.........£17 for 125ml here in the UK. Absolute bargain. Well done Police.

Has the DNA of the original To Be, but strangely refreshing. Smells much better due to the spicy accords. The tonka brings out some sweetness but it remains oriental. It also lasts longer, but too bad the bottle is tacky. Take off the cap, and it looks much cooler.

Very delicate fragrance: lavender, tonka, cedar and pine with the obligatory citrus on top. Synthetically beautiful as it is, the longevity is pathetic and reduces to a skin scent within 15 minutes. A real shame as it works well on me.

I liked the initial smell when first sprayed but within minutes (at least to me), I couldn't smell it any longer. TBH I only bought this as I liked the skull bottle and it was cheap.

I really like this fragrance. Pretty unique. Not that long lasting but for the money it is great. I get a lot of compliments when I wear it. All in all a god fragrance.

So kitschy and cheap bottle. The smell is not bad, like a designer fragrance, sweet/spicy, on the paper is better than skin. Sillage and longevity is moderate

I feel this is best for casual nights out, rather than any formal type of occasion. It's sweet and envelopes you with its strong bubble but then it very quickly fades. Does not mix well with the skin's oil and sweat, so my belief is that you should use it on the clothes on a night you know will not be hot in the slightest. But I think that it charms you when you first use it, and becomes invisible to yourself after the initial sweet spray. It's good if you don't want to feel like you're wearing any scent during the night, but still want to have something on since you are going out. It's very affordable, and perhaps a young boy or girl will find the skull entertaining. So a good gift for young people, especially since kids may feel the need to overspray to smell it, since it should fade quickly - just make sure that you only let your kid use it when you're ABOUT to leave the house so they don't get too many layers of it and become coated in the overly sweet smell LOL Good price as well for kids. But make sure they're not playing with the bottle too much because the cap can start to leak a bit. It's not bad, but it's not luxury, obviously. Just be careful if you have energetic kids!

Nose Note #400 Police and the other brand of the namesake by Antonio Banderas manage to put out scent that are not trash at all, but so far away from being great. They are just perfectly in the middle, the mediocracy in its perfection... When I first spray them I always think: "Damn, this smells boring and like thousand other things", but after some time and a lot of thinking they actually start to come to life and become really not bad. This one has similar lavender as To Be Tattooart, the A&F Fierce lavender. It also has sweet spiciness, however I can hardly dig beyond that. Because just like the rest - I don't know what they put there, but it all smells unclear and fuzzy. 5/10

There isn't really much to say about this perfume. It doesn't last long and the smell isn't that strong. But compared to the price and the smell, it is a very good perfume. If you don't like spending a lot on perfumes, this sweet fragrance is perfect for autumn. And at least the bottle design looks cool.

Smells nice, lavender and wood are the main players. Sadly, the performance is corresponding to the price. If you want something unique, for a younger audience, without paying a lot, it's for you.

It feels so seductive and sweet, I don't like the seductive smell so I will give it 6/10.

I bought this fragrance as a blind buy, with 75ml. Because it was cheap, and like the brands design, and normally I will also like the fregence line, but in this case. So this is not gonna be my new fragrance for the supermarket and so. The bottle looks nice, but I really don't like the smell which is kinda of strong as first impression. I tested on my wrist, and less then 1 hour after, I could not sense it anymore.

It's a very versatile and pleasant scent for fall/spring and summer but it feels quite synthetic although I could wear it. Moreover reminds me many other scents but nothing specifically. Dominant notes are fresh lavender and tonka beans, mild amber, faint orange blossom and faint cashmere wood. Super market quality but pleasant. Moderate performance overall.

Got this in hopes of something decent. First impressions the bottle was cool. Love the crown and skull black and gold. Could barely smell the scent. I sat there and was burying my nose. Barely got anything. Shame because I liked the bottle but it's about the scent not the looks. Returned thankfully.

It's a big no from me for this one. The women's version, "Police TO BE The Queen", is delicious though and it's a man magnet. What a shame that the male pair for it is not good. Instead I can recommend "Police TO BE The Illusionist" that is for men. The Illusionist is great!

I have try the sample. Nice bottle design. But sorry, i don't like the scent.

Blind bought "The King" today at Burlington... I don't like it at all. Reminds me of Double Bubble bubble gum that comes out at Halloween and mix that with the podery scent of Diapers. It reminds me of some cheap perfume an old lady at church used to wear. Maybe my kids will like it. Seems like it's going to last a long time. I sprayed my hand and I can not make it go away no matter how much I wash it. The couple of video reviews I seen said it's a sweet masculine scent. If this is masculine then I want to turn in my Man Card. With that in mind, my Daughter in Law might like this.

The skull bottle looks nice, but... This is by far the worst perfume I have ever smelled. It’s horrendous! Not even the other fragrances in my ‘hate’ category are as revolting as this atrocious concoction. The opening has a very synthetic woody smell mixed with strange spicy lavender notes. As bad as the opening is, the amber drydown is even worse. I can’t even describe how bad it is. It's stomach-churning! For a cheapie, it surprisingly lasts long (8+ hours). Not ideal for a fragrance that is extremely nauseating though.

Makes my skin itchy. The cheapest most synthetic disgusting smell. I love woody aromatics but this shit is awful. At least the bottle looks cool on my shelf tho.

I rarely talk about presentation nowdays but Police fragrances have bottles that need mentioning. They are the definition of tacky in the grand scheme of thing altho in certain contexts they are fun and interesting. In a collection they can stick out negatively but i can see how they would look good if placed in the right decor by themselves. The King’s bottle looks like one of the more managable ones and to be honest, i don’t mind it at all. I received a small 1ml dabber sample as a gift and the perfume surprised me. Its a spicy resinous-woody aromatic perfume that gives me the impression of oakmoss and hits of dirty musk, not incredibly far from my recent discovery, L’Air de Rien. It is a touch fresher and less carnal dirty but its in the ballpark.To me, scentwise its a fragrance that punches above its weight. The lavander and lemon join in as a set of brighter accords that freshen things up but to a degree also cheapen the overall quality of the composition. Not to an offputting level mind you, but they amp up the synthetic nature of the fragrance. Despite that, i still believe it punches above its price bracket. I like the scent and i don’t find it generic smelling or boring. I believe its more masculine then unisex. I cannot speak on performance since sampling a perfume is not a good way to determine that in most cases and especially not with a tiny dabber sample. I do however tend to believe the complaints of it not performing extremely well. I’d like to comment on @dglightblue’s review down below. She said it smells like a doll’s head and thats a very specific and interesting thing to say. Is it coincidence that Its also something people mentioned about L’Air de Rien? I think not, so i believe that supports my claim of the two having common elements. If i didn’t already have L’Air de Rien in my collection i would buy this one. I can see how many don’t appreciate the scent because its not exactly a “pedestrian” fragrance. Its not necessarily a challenging perfume but one for more particular tastes in my opinion. I’ve smelt niche perfumes that cost over 10 times more and was left unimpressed. I like this one but that comes down to taste and Police The King suits mine.

I was looking for an everyday scent for my 16 year old son.... I stumbled upon this affordable one but.... I loved the smell soOO much I ended up keeping it for myself. This is such a beautifully done elegant dark scent. This is what I thought diesel loverdose was but had an unpleasant shock when i purchased loverdose and bought it home. .... this was the smell I was searching for, this man's perfume in a black skull lol. I love it!!! I had the ladies version in the white skull but that is so tame and blah compared to this mysterious rich smelling spicy woody sweet scent. The bay leaf and cardamon give it such a different tinge. Awesome stuff and I don't care if it's marketed for men. It's a keeper. Edit: I have been wearing this non stop for the past few days. I can't get enough of it.... my hubby thinks it's one of my more expensive perfumes.... I darednt tell him it's a man's scent in a big black skull haha. It will destroy the feminine illusion that he loves so much. "It's attractive to be feminine". ...

💀 I only got this to be a 👑 king black scull&gold crown,along with to be a queen white skull gold crown,to display on my dresser lol,so I didn't care how it smelled,this is okay for a decent casual scent,not bad,just leans a Lil masculine for me,more of a close to a skin scent,projects good first 30 mins on me,then after a slightly noticeable skin scent,it's not gross &it's not sexy,it's polite&harmless,slightly fruity&cardamom gentle manly,lasts longer on paper&clothing,it's like a body spray,for the price that's okay,the bottle is why I bought it tho,the glass is smooth black matte glass&happy to have it as decor,the scent is nice enough,gentle,3 -6hrs as skin scent. Update◇ after owning awhile this has a nasty chemical or metal smell to it,no worries display piece anyways. °•°•°☆•°•°•

I bought this for my eldest son who's early 20s and he didn't really use it. (His polite way of saying thanks but no thanks). Then I tried it and loved it! It must be my old nose. To me it smells like a perfumey clean TCP (you know the antiseptic solution?) And it's longevity and projection is really good. Some might say it has a medicinal smell, but I really enjoyed it. I finished the bottle. I would spray it on me whilst cleaning my sons room, and then, after cleaning the whole house (3-4 hours later), I would still smell this delicious scent on me which would develop into something even more spectacular. Like I said. Its probably a polarising scent. My boys dislike it, my husband thinks I applied TCP to a cut or graze I may have, but I think it's lovely. Different. Very quirky.

I got this as an Xmas present I didn't expect to like it as much as I did.... I can't compare to other police line as this is the first I've tested from that house but in my professional opinion this is a really nice smooth sweet aromatic fragrance. Ideal for a middle aged Man 25-39 I really enjoy this one Downside is the longitivity... It last on my skin for about 3 to 4 hrs and it becomes a poor skin scent if this had an EDP it'll be top class. This will get you compliment in the first couple of hours without a doubt. Blind buy worthy

Great fragrance, lots of lemon, spices and a touch of sweetness. The Lemon lingers for the length of wear and mixes well with the Cardamom and Nutmeg. A really unique delicious flavour. I wish they could make lemon in women's fragrances last as long. So much depth, you could spend ages picking out all the different notes, they overlap and blend well, without becoming a muddy mess. A very well made juice which smells good on my man but even better on me.

After the cardamom, nutmeg warm sweet woody intro I'd say that the standout player in this concoction is the tonka with a hint of lavender. It's pretty nice really if your okay with the fact that it doesn't last but a few hours. Quite Easily Unisex. I bought a tester, at 14 bucks, predominantly because I enjoy the Police skull bottles and this black matte number with skulls & roses crown caught my attention. ✨

Regardless of what the bottle looks like, I just got my hands on the first sample available in my country of this. HIGHLY recommended perfume. It's a spicy scent with alot of power in it. Will be buying this as soon as it comes to stores

i have over 70 fragrances and this is the only one i own that disappears after 20mins of spraying and im so disappointed, it smells great initially but fades so quick. I just cant rate it good

To Be Far Far Away from it. Definitely not a blind buy. It gets worse the longer it's on you. Never used police and never will look at it again!
