i am surprised to see no reviews about this timeless ageless classic master piece..i remember growing up with all different formulations of prophecy..i was a child about 5 or 6 when i first got a full bottle from a great grandpa who was over 100 at the time with perfect health and memory..so to me this was the epitome of what an older lady would wear with all the aldehides and the musks and flowers going on i admit it was a blast for me then as it is still until today ..i love prophesy it always manages to take me back in time and take me to the future in unimaginable ways..i have to admit that it was hidden away by mom for a while saying it was not for a girl my age by the the age of ten i was using coco opium dior and giorgio Beverly hills ! maybe as a way to retaliate..i admit i do get some headaches from very heavy aldehides especially with heavier white florals maybe thats why it was hidden from me but i still loved it and used to sneak it i didn't really have a choice it was in every bathroom in every house i went to growing up prophesy wasn't a luxury perfume it was a staple everyday doing your erand in it.. now to the perfume its elf i dont know which formulation to describe or which manufacturer or country of origin for its being manufactured all over the world.. i will talk generally about it for i am not even smelling it now but here we go just from my olfactory vivid memory i remember it being the most powerful powerhouse of bright crisp aldehides mixed with musks florals and a base of light creamy amber its a song all on its own its a happy perfume so vibrant fresh and alive so perfume so french so complex and so yellow so pungent so radiating and works on the high notes it always comes in a spray form that really sprays way too much you know the types of sprayers that dont stop after one click it just keeps making this magical sound and i keep spraying it ..i even spray it in the room as a room freshener and i have to suffer the light headaches if i am not careful its a perfume i love that i know is not the best for me especially in the dry down ...but i still love it .. guess what i just went to the bathroom and found one hiding but a new formula oh i sprayed it and the most powdery powdery overly powdery aldhide came up a bit similar to chanel no 5 but the jasmine creeps up ...a bit like alfred sung sung a bit like la ir detepms nina ricci also its like a mix of fidji guy laroch andmadam rochas and hermes clache and hiris and houbigant le flores and caron french cannon and carven magrief and jean patou ma liberte and many from patou s classics like coctail and amour and even emenuel angarous senso and amouage gold and nela mahour and lanvin via lanvin and dorsay le chevril and gucci no 3 and shisedo zen and grothmith hanu na !!! and more retro style powdery grovy aldehides.... and now i realize why i love all those perfumes i believe its because they all have something from prophesy my first love that gives me headaches but i still love ! !! .this bottle is the one with the black plastic cover and honestly its the worst one i smelled in my 30 years of knowing this fume i love the older ones with the white cap like the one in the fragrantica pictures never the less its a statement perfume its a strong type of clean uplifting perfume some might call old school perfumes or at least to my nose what a real perfume should smell like..its more on the vintgy side more on the white floral musky side its a drug store classic ..its a perfume made from a hundred perfumes that embodies womanity and femininity and strength in a grandeur magnificent tall manner...full of confidence strength and love it stood the test of time for a reason its a pretty darn good perfume that smells beautiful..full stop!

Prophecy is a vintage scent where the notes don’t matter. I’ll describe them for you anyway: heady lilies and soapy aldehydes give way to earthy gardenia and soft carnation before heading into a sandalwood-vetiver-oakmoss dry down softened by indolic jasmine. But, it feels more like a cloud of calm, like being bathed in soft, gentle light. Here is an anchor through a stressful day. It’s not seductive or even friendly, but rather a reminder to the wearer that /they/ and not their perfume are not the more important player. Perfect for a workday in my opinion, but I work on a farm — office workers might feel differently about the aldehydes.

I've got it by mere chance. It is a half-used vintage bottle, but lucky enough, the scent is still fabulous. I don't know how to describe the sensation I got at the first sniffing. It is nothing but a pleasant, uplifting in a very quiet way, even mysterious. It is very feminine and nicely powdery, too. I checked the compositions in this site and found the combinations are very interesting indeed. Isn't it a good example of late 60's to early 70's fine floral woody?

For me It is a strong refreshing cologne than a perfume I love it as i can wear it any time day or night to refresh my self It reminds with old school days early mornings

Review for vintage bottle in Cosmopolitans Collection of Internationally Famous Perfumes. Prophecy is so powdery and fresh. I get whiffs of Lily, pepper, rose and oakmoss. It’s a great fragrance - it’s what I imagine Winona Ryders character in Mermaids smelled like. Fresh, powdery, innocent.

EXCELLENT REVIEW, Suhaesa! So pleased you shared with us! I wonder if the lack of reviews are partially owing to Prophesy not being marketed in the west (or at least the US) for many years? I have certainly never seen it for sale anywhere, which is such a pity. Thank you So Much for your marvelous memories and olfactory descriptions! Update - I just found Propecy advertised in a 1960's edition of Seventeen Magazine. So it has a US history, if not a current US presence. The price was $2.00 - $4.50 (bath powder available). Oh, for a visit to a drugstore in the 60's.... Or for that matter, a department store! In the same magazine, Tosca, Wind Song, Bandit, Fracas, Straw Hat, and the great Chanel no 5 all have their advertising space, and I'm sure I've missed a few. To add insult to injury, Chanel no 5 started at $2.50 for the cologne and soared to a whopping $5.00 for a refillable eau de parfum. Time travel, here I come!

At one point in my life, I was deeply into classic fragrances even though I am in my twenties. Prophecy was a blind buy. At first, the scent felt unusual to me, but over time I got used to it and started enjoying each spray. Honestly, I used to layer it with Tocca Simone, and I received a lot of compliments when I combined the two. But now, I feel neutral about it. On its own, the scent can be a bit suffocating. And it definitely leans very vintage.

All I remember is the bottle. I also remember the scent was a bit strong and powdery. That was late 80s when my late mother used to have it, and then I was a young boy. I haven't smelled this in over 25 years, but one day I will have a bottle just for her memory.
