Vallée Des Roses

Opens very sour and peppery spicy + true damask rose; however, it isn’t all about the rose. This phase is quite dry, so even though it’s a true-to-quality damask rose, it doesn’t provide much depth surrounding the rose, but it sure is an attention-getter. It’s close to the smell of Chinese medicinal spices you can find at old traditional pharmacies, mixed with sweetened dried orange peel, which was my favourite snack during my childhood. So this phase, in my opinion, portrays a Chinese culture/tradition (or even atmosphere) rather than North Africa. Oakmoss starts to shine through after a while and is very dry and hay-liked. The drydown is less sour and peppery, morphing into something deeper with soft myrrh and blooming Damask (-centric) with cinnamon & date accent. To me, the spices, dried fruit notes (orange & dates), and oakmoss sort of take over the resins/myrrh part until the drydown. I also get faint wafts of something zesty like bergamot and honey in the sillage/air, which partly sticks to my nostrils. A brilliant fragrance. I find zero similarity to Habit Rouge; it's more daring and transportive than that one classic.

Very different from the other 9/10 offerings that I have tried by Prin Lomros as this is,to me, a very light, open, and 'sweet' fragrance. Opens with a very jammy rose, reminiscent of a rose flavoured turkish delight, or of a sweet rose water. There is a slight citrusy note that seems to morph into a candied orange as time progresses. I wish that I got some of the other notes listed but I think that a number of them combine into the, as others have said, chinese medicine cabinet sort of scent. Its one downside is that it does very strongly remind me of citronella candles & rose water. A likeable and respectable fragrance. A perfume for Late Summer days. Full bottle worthy for me as I love rose scents but I am not 100% sure when I would wear this. 7/10

A beautiful fresh rose fragrance with citrus on top. Rose is absolutely at the centre, and it can be difficult to discern the other notes, possibly other florals and some resins. It is very well blended and creates a heaven for rose lovers. It is long lasting, perfectly balanced and unisex.

This is a peppery rose with incense. The rose note itself is extremely beautiful. There is wonderful depth from the myrrh and elemi, while the rose itself is heightened by the black pepper and fruits. I agree this leans dry, and somehow fresh. Very for spring and possibly fall too. Unfortunately in spite of all those good things, it lacks a little power. Longevity is moderate, about 3-4 hours.

Vallee De Roses is an excellent rose centric Chypre that transitions through several unique stages to ultimately arrive at a wonderfully vintage oakmoss drydown. The opening sees a short lived blast of ambery citrus with rays of sunshine highlighting a field of lush rose bushes in full bloom. If I’m really stretching it, you get subtle hints of resinous pipe tobacco although for only a moment. Within 10 minutes you’re deep within the heart of Rose de Mai in all its jammy, citric glory. I wish the amberEd opening lasted longer because the rose filled mid dominates the next two hours or so before the initial drydown starts. It’s hard to say if the heart is jammy Roses or full on spice cabinet laced nag champa. As the Rosey florals start to reside you’re greeted with a wonderfully fresh incense chock full of resins and spice so fresh it clears your sinuses. However this phase isn’t the actual drydown. Here you get a couple hours of Prin’s famous norlimbanol laced incensey DNA before the vintage powdery Chypre base emerges. The far drydown sees a somewhat aromatic powdery oakmoss reminiscent of a bygone era. At this point it’s an entirely different fragrance from the opening. I’m somehow reminded of Moschino Pour Homme at this stage. It’s not exactly leathery as Pour Homme but it’s spiced oakmoss and soft powder. There’s faint traces of herbs and florals before the last few flickers of life slowly fade out. Overall this is an 8-10 hour scent with solid projection for at least 4 hours or more depending on skin. If you love roses or oakmoss I highly recommend this standout from the newest Prissana collection.
