Dolci Pensieri

Sampling latest release from Profumum Roma, Dolci Pensieri (“sweet thoughts” in English), a sweet, powdery, floral blend that, at least to my nose, has a bit of a fruity, resinous side to it as well. The only listed notes are Bulgarian rose, geranium, peony, sandalwood, and vanilla, and most of that rings true: a floral blend with rose that has some sweetness of the vanilla and the slightly sharp, woody side of the sandalwood. Still, I get a bit of fruit (a red berry of some kind, perhaps) and a certain sort of creamy, honeyed hint of resin (beeswax- or benzoin-ish) that makes the blend seem a bit more complex that just a floral/vanilla blend, mainly. This does not come as a huge surprise, as Profumum’s note listings are often brief but their scents are generally rich, natural-smelling, high-performing, and sometimes, complex. Even though it leans a bit more powdery (and it’s really not *that* powdery) than rose/vanilla blends I usually go for, Dolci Pensieri is really well-executed, with high quality, reaffirming the confidence I have in the brand. I’m going to be happy to try it out some more but would give it fairly high marks to start. Dolci Pensieri is sold in the US via a couple of websites that I’ve found—namely, the NYC boutique Osswald as well as Beauty Habit, a website I’m somewhat familiar with but have not used, myself—both with the now-standard Profumum pricing of $275 for 100ml. 8 out of 10

I decided to explore and (in some cases) re-explore rose peony centric fragrances. I read many good thoughts about Profumum Roma "Dolce Pensiari," so I purchased a sizable decant. I tested Dolce Pensiari alongside a few Ex Nihilo rose fragrances. And I own and love Acqua Di Parma "Peonia Nobile," which is somewhat similar to Dolce Pensiari. Initially I fell in love with Dolce Pensiari. The opening and mid-notes are glorious with perfectly blended rose, peony, some vanilla. But to my disappointment, the fragrance turned powdery on skin. And a persistent note in the drydown was bothersome. I think the sourness I detected in the base is attributable to the geranium in the fragrance. While similar, Peonia Nobile wears a bit airier and fresher than Dolce Pensiari. And I rarely, if ever favor airy and fresh over thick, heady, dense and creamy. As I think about it, the perfume's persistent sourness may be the presence of some musk perhaps, or even an element of sandalwood (something I've not experienced before with sandalwood). Disappointing after such a promising start.

Dolci pensieri is an extremely beautiful rose, peony and geranium fragrance. It is the perfect combination of all 3 of these flowers. A perfume where all 3 of them get to be the star yet work in harmony together. Fresh and light while still being slightly sweet while still being a very strong performer. Signature worthy if you love roses, peonies and geraniums. Like a perfect Valentine's Day bouquet red, pink and white. The vanilla and sandalwood never take away from the florals. They just are the supporting vase if you will for this gorgeous bouquet. Would make a perfect Valentine's Day gift for the lady in your life. Edit been wearing this all day today 1/31/26 and if you are a patchouli hater and want a rose and vanilla combo but don't want to smell like a desert this is a beautiful rose vanilla sandalwood combo. Excellent longevity and sillage. I find it leans feminine but a man can pull this off fine. If I didn't have similar fragrances I would buy this . Outstanding performance. Trying more from this brand.

A heavy, jammy, deep rose with geranium and peony, vanilla and a fruity touch. There’s no fruits listed in the pyramid at any level but I think I get some sweet clementines, blackcurrant or peaches from it. Something that feels syrupy, honey like, a fruity juicy note. Sandalwood on me is mostly in the background and doesn’t really shows up on my skin! Just adds some depth and creaminess to the juice. Very feminine and floral forward fragrance. While I love the smell of Dolce Pensieri and I am sure that Profumum Roma have great quality fragrances, I personally have 2 very similar scents to this in my collection so I don’t feel the rush to get it. Love Chopard and Nina Ricci’s L’Extase Rose Absolue are the first ones that come to my mind automatically when I smell Dolci Pensieri! I find it a bit similar to Kayali’s Pink Pepper as well. Seems to be quite long lasting and highly diffusive in the air for the first 3 hour.

Woody, floral, musky, incense...floral/woody/musks are my favorite scents to wear regardless of season. Profumum Roma is my favorite perfume house. If they have something I like on me, I will absolutely get a fb. Dolci Pensieri was a blind buy and one of my best. In all honesty, I am not a lover of ROSE, but I do like it. It needs to be partnered with another floral for me to enjoy. The peony, incense, vanilla, resin, [cedar] woods bring the best out of the rose. Dolci Pensieri is now my favorite rose and it is the winter [midAtlantic N. Am.] floral that I was searching for.

Surprised no one has clocked this but this smells like a refined Lush Rose Jam. More woods and less cloying but rose/geranium combo is very similar on my skin. Like everything from this house, it's lovely. Well blended and very compelling, in my opinion! Where to wear: luxuriating generally

It's the type of rose oud fragrance you've likely come across before but this is a nice versatile take on it. It doesn't scream a certain season and could potentially be a daytime fragrance - although these types of fragrances are often heady and sensual, suited for evening. It's more unisex to me than some others like it. As someone else wrote - there is a point where the sandalwood is a bit too much. To me it's peppery, strident, and too sharp, BUT it mellows quickly to a lovely classic sort of fragrance. I definitely get patchouli and a sort of brighter fruitiness to the rose. Very strong on its initial application; the sharp sandalwood takes center stage, but dissipates after about 30 mins on my skin. Headache inducing if oversprayed, hence I use this sparingly. However, when the sandalwood mellows out, the beautiful rose comes through, gently supported by the peony, vanilla and amber. Although not listed in the notes, the roundness is almond-like. Like a beautiful, expensive red rose resting on a bed of warm and creamy silken sheets. It has an air of sophisticated gourmand sweetness, without being sirupy or cloying. Quite unique, and leans feminine.

Sweet confection like scent from the venerable Italian natural niche brand. The primary note is a sweet floral mix of rose, peony and geranium. This is supported by vanilla, synthetic musk and slight sandalwood. Overall this is a syrupy confection which will please lovers of dessert like scents. The feminine leaning scent has moderate to strong sillage and good longevity. Enjoy!

I am a Profumum Roma fangril so even though it's not my type I still appreciate the craft. What I do wonder about is whether it's just me or it's a spicy rose with patchouli and maybe even oud? I am just looking at the notes here and they don't compute with what my nose is registering... I generally think this would actually be a summer banger for a man who dares to wear rose

This is like a pudding infused with roses! Creamy, strong, indulgent rose. GORGEOUS!

Such a beautiful vanilla floral scent. Airy and alluring.

This should have gone straight to my favourite’s list, since it’s my favourite fragrance house using my favourite note; rose - plus I see it’s meant to be reminiscent of Incense Rose by Amouage which I love. The first spray is lovely (it’s a sweet gourmand rose, with smoky caramel nuances) and is along similar lines to Montale’s Intense Cafe. But I realise that I’m very much reminded of Arabian Oud’s Resala but smoother, more refined and with superior quality. It wasn’t like Incense Rose as Incense Rose has more of a Turkish Delight style rose (which I prefer) and doesn’t have the dark chocolate, caramelised vanilla undertones that Dolci Pensieri has. As it developed, it became more like Taklamakan (which I also love). But the dry-down revealed a concerning note that (to me) smelt like smoked mackerel. The smokiness had developed a metallic nature, like the silvery, oiled skin on a smoked mackerel. This was the predominant note for the last part of its duration, and one which turned my love to a disappointed like. Definitely worth trying if you like Intense Cafe and sweeter gourmand roses.

From something that's called "Sweet Toughts", I was expecting a trip in a candy shop, but Profumum already has masterpieces like Vanitas and Dulcis is Fundo on the sweet bakery side, so I had to face the harsh reality and accept that Dolci Pensieri is not a vanilla sweet edible fragrance. It's a soft floral with a faint touch of sweetness that prevents the rose from becoming powdery or soapy. It's nice, a bit feminine but definitely unisex, due to the woody notes that, however not dry, give the scent a noticeable deepness. I can see a more mature woman enjoying it, I think that it would be ok on my husband, but it's not for me. Not a safe blind buy. I'll continue to splurge on Vanitas and on the lovely scent of italian panettone that is Dulcis in Fundo.

Not for me. Got a free sample. It is soft and unobjectionable but nothing I would get excited about. Rose and vanilla I'm very picky about because they are everywhere in perfumery. So not a surprise that I'm unenthusiastic.

The sandalwood and/or patchouli in this makes it too astringent-smelling for me, even though I love the sweet rose, wood, and vanilla combination.

Though I do not see patchouli in the notes listed, I certainly smell it on my wrist. Slightly sharp rose, musky patchouli and just a touch of vanilla to soften. In dry down the scent gets softer and muskier.

Unlike Mancera Roses Vanille, the vanilla in here is actually noticeable and to me it’s equal to the rose. However, I still don’t like it

Massive screechy scratchy fixative base dominates to my nose. Smells like 20 euro middle Eastern fake oud crap.

I'm a staunch rose hater so my review means nothing... but... I just have to say this is so disgusting. I'm sorry... I let everyone in my office at work smell the sample and everyone was horrified and reeled backward. This is such a sickeningly overpowered jammy, thick rose. I accidentally touched the sprayer to my nose and I can still smell it an hour later much to my chagrin. I'm pretty sure I'd scare the entire office away if I wore this in the vicinity of other humans. Luckyscent kindly included this sample in my big order, though, so I am happy they thought of me. But they thought incorrectly. I still love them, though. -10/10

Got this gem a month or so back. It's a really solid release. It seems to draw from fragrances like note di profumum mervagilia (the other line this house does) primarily the rose facet, but it adds some slight jamminess/sweetness, vanilla and incense (although not listed) this also nods to amouage rose incense, where that was bit too dry, the sweetness in this provides a better wearing experience. Longevity is very good lasts all day easily, projection seems a bit restrained and this doesn't feel as thick and deep a other Profumum offerings like patchouly or amba aurea. With all that said still one of my favorite pick ups this year in the countless I have purchased.

I was so looking forward to this but I’m disappointed. It’s certainly not bad but it’s something I’ve smelled many times before. And it’s very linear. I don't really get the peony or the vanilla (ok, maybe a tiny bit). On me it’s predominantly rose & wood/musk & it’s darker-not sweet like a lot of Profumums. Smells like a middle eastern fragrance to me (but more mellow). *I have a dabber sample from Luckyscent & today I put on a more generous amount (kind of by accident). Well in doing so I’m getting the sweetness and some of the peony & vanilla. I’m starting to like this a bit more.

Pleasant rose. Totally unisex and not overly sweet. I get nice woodiness to it. It has the longevity of Profumum Roma frags, but not projection (which is fine by me). There is a nice scent bubble that lasted for hours for me. MFK oud silk mood extrait is my current favourite rose and whilst I feel they are in the same style, I wouldn’t say they were dupes. I experience a lot more projection with the MFK but I would be happy wearing either.

Raspberry, candied rose, touch of vanilla, almond paste and powdery white musk. Similar rose to the one in Ninfea but in a more gourmandish setting.

Meh. A repetition of what's been around for some years. Not bad but very reminiscent of Oud Bouquet, Oud Satin Mood etc.

Smells like syrupy honey to me, with a hint of rose and patchouli.
