Roma Kyoto

Really interesting fragrance. I’m currently testing it from an official Profumum Roma sample. The first impression immediately brings to mind a blend of two Lorenzo Pazzaglia fragrances, Van Sea and Dream Sea, intertwined with the powdery facets of Confetto. That said, Roma Kyoto clearly has its own identity and is neither a copy nor an “inspired by” interpretation. It simply evokes the sensation of an unfamiliar scent that feels as though it could exist somewhere between those two LP creations, with subtle touches reminiscent of Confetto woven in. What stands out most during the opening is a sparkling quality sitting over a deeper base, all wrapped in a smooth coconut-like accord. It feels like a body lotion applied after a long day in the sun, soothing, creamy, and slightly sweet. In the background there is also a seaside impression, but presented in a refined and luxurious way rather than something raw or windy. The overall picture is that of a five star hotel by the sea, where everything is polished and calm. You are sun kissed, perfectly groomed, and sitting down for a cocktail after a day of doing nothing except relaxing in the sun. You have just showered, applied after sun care, and settled into a quiet, elegant atmosphere. After around 15 minutes, a gentle powdery violet note begins to appear, slowly shifting the mood as you prepare for a refined dinner later in the evening. Overall it feels calm and composed, but consistently luxurious. Nothing loud or overly exotic, just a smooth and serene environment surrounded by understated beauty and effortless elegance. In the end, where the two Lorenzo Pazzaglia fragrances I mentioned leaned a little too heavily into either vanilla or synthetic accords for my taste, Roma Kyoto feels far more nuanced and natural. It has multiple layers that gradually reveal themselves, supported by elegant touches like the violet note. I don't necessarily understand the association between the scent profile and the name "Roma Kyoto". "Ultima Luce" or "Aura Dorata" would have been my pick, most likely.

I just smelled it... It’s been a long time since a fragrance left me so speechless!!! It’s a composition where creamy white floral notes (I don't detect the coconut distinctly, but it helps give the scent a soft, creamy, milky quality) harmonize perfectly with a spicy cinnamon note. The base is powdery and enveloping. It doesn't remind me of anything specific, though I do find some similarities to their discontinued gardenia scent (Volo AZ686) and also to Chinatown—that Bond No. 9 fragrance everyone was talking about on perfume forums some twenty years ago... But I prefer this Profumum creation because everything feels better blended; in that Bond No. 9, the spicy element was too dominant and sharp for my nose. I highly recommend giving it a sniff; I found it to be a truly elegant, tender, and captivating fragrance—even moving at times, at least for me... Like I said, it’s been a long time since I’ve experienced something like this! 🥹🥰

I find Profumum perfumes generally too heavy for summer, and this one is no exception. At first, it reminded me of a more opulent version of Sunkissed Goddess, while at another moment I got hints of a lighter Zoologist Chameleon. However, the notes beyond ylang-ylang and coconut suggest that this is not really a beachy scent, despite having the feel of a creamy summer body lotion initially. Later on, the scent develops into two contrasting facets for me: a generic sweetness and a more aromatic lavender-tinged side, while the other notes are difficult for me to distinguish. It’s a solid, refined release, but ultimately not a particularly exciting one for me.

This is gross. And the cinnamon note is making my skin itch and burn.
