Tagete

I decided to wear Tagete this afternoon. It's currently 106° in Northern California which is perfect weather to wear something like this. So I thought it would be a good idea to expand my thought process a little bit more about this fragrance. Believe it or not, my dummy brain didn't register the title of this fragrance being marigold until just now. I don't know what marigold smells like on their own; I assume it is similar to tuberose which is why so many people say that is what they smell. Everything I mentioned in October I still feel today. Especially in regards to the lack of a Green aspect in the composition. There is little to no fresh and green effervescence here. That is usually a death sentence when it comes to my personal preferences in perfumery, but strangely enough I am OK with it here. It is a pleasant white floral. If that is what you are looking for, I don't think you can find any better than what you have right here. That's another reason why I like this fragrance house so much. They took the time to refine the details. When I wear something from Profumum I am not ruminating over details I wish I could change. They have fully refined their collection and have created fragrances that are finished. That is an incredible feat because it requires an editing process not many companies are willing to do. And because Profumum is still family owned and operated, they have the freedom and ability to do things the right way. I cannot recommend them enough for that reason alone. Days like today are best for tuberose bombs and the best ones are highlighted and recognized in this heat. Finally we can experience what the Roman Empire said was narcotic bliss. Tagete is the sexiest fragrance you can grab this evening.

I love the tangy bittersweet fragrance of marigolds and here it is beautifully blended with a fruity tuberose, jasmine, an aromatic vetiver and an earthy, mushroomy oakmoss. The tuberose and jasmine add sweet floral elements counteracting the masculine vetiver note but not enough to detract from the earthy greenness in the base of this scent. While the overall composition is beautiful throughout the wear, Kim Kadashian's tuberose fragrance kept coming to mind. While I get the same tuberose note in Nasamato's Narcotic V and Nishane's Tuberosa, and in Kardashian, it is the earthiness attributable to the woodsy notes in the base of Kim Kardashian that most reminds me of this fragrance. That's confusing because with the exception of a few notes, specifically jasmine and tuberose, the note profiles are nothing alike. Still, in my mind I keep getting that connection, so I will not pursue this fragrance beyond the generous decant I have now. Of course, there is no comparison between the quality of this fragrance and Kardashian, so if that matters to you and you don't care if it is more than passing similarity to Kardashian, then this is the one to get. But while both are big loves for me, I'll stick with the one that gives me the same experience and satisfaction for a fraction of the price.

Bold, sunny, energetic tuberose! The name "tagete" is slightly misleading. Only because tuberose is by far the dominant note. It really does smell like fresh tuberose blossoms in the sunshine. I feel like no one knows about this gem and that's a shame - because this is tuberose done in a slightly different way than a lot of tuberoses on the market that I've smelled. It's light, sweet, fresh, floaty, summery - as opposed to heavy, creamy, menthol-y, or overripe. Tuberose is one of my favorite notes, and I have a collection of all of the above - this is the one I wear when it's hot and I want a light veil of energetic, yet sweet floral fragrance. There's nothing overdone about this particular tuberose; it smells like the *moment* the flower opens. As a bonus: this one really sticks around. Great sillage, I almost always get a compliment on this one. This is a fragrance to wear in the sunshine when you want to leave a waft of pure, fresh, flowery happiness behind you. Or on a summer night. I really adore this one.

It has tuberose, but it’s certainly not just tuberose. I’ve tried quite a few bold “killer” type of tuberose, this one is a nice break. It’s neither your department store plastic smile kind of Tuberose, nor the raw, no-frills tuberose CO2 extract. It’s soft, non-aggressive, pleasant, though still manage to maintain a natural profile. But let’s not forget the other player of the perfume: a tender mimosa-like flower with a bit shy green edge, green as unopened bud instead of leaves. Trace amount of calone gave it moisture of living flower. A tender little flower open in this big wide world. I got a little prickly vegetal hint at certain stage of dry-down, but it soon disappears. Sometimes I also get a “sweet bean paste(甜豆沙)” base.

Tagete is a flower bomb. Contrary to what other people say, I don't smell any green. I'm typically good at noticing things like that, so I'm telling you right now do not expect to smell anything green. This is extremely sweet and extremely heady. Yes it does smell like tuberosa because it has the same flower at its center! I think I like tuberosa more if I'm being honest. But I'm not saying this is not a good fragrance. Everything from the house is worth it.

What Profumum Roma is unbeatable at, are the juicy green notes. This is how I fell in love with Ninfea and Osa_Re. I don’t know how, but even their tuberose is fresh and cool and juicy I even get some notes of sweet watery melon and underripe banana... This house is the best.

A dominant tuberose scent with a little jasmine and mimosa (though not listed). The Tagetes are lost in the composition. It's sweet, fresh and a little tropical though quite linear, but I still love it. Great lasting power and FB worthy.

Very high quality white flowers show, a greenish tuberose, borderline sweet jasmine, softened on a bed of moss, it's a must-try for the ladies digging tuberose and looking for a different aspect in this overcrowded theme.

Tagate is a feminine tuberose fragrance. One of the best. Sweet but not overly so, and soft but not a skin scent. Perfect for warmer seasons. Sillage and longevity are amazing. Absolutely full bottle worthy.

This is reminiscent of marigold, but I don't know if there's actual marigold in it at all. Tagetes oil is intense, long-lasting and unmistakeable; this captures the pointed sweetness, but not the unique nutty unctuousness of it. I can discern tuberose and another flower which I suppose could be jasmine, but is much more intensely sweet, almost like honeysuckle. At first spray this smells a lot like Byredo's Bal d'Afrique, but the base notes on this one vanish quite quickly and it dries down to that tuberose-honeysuckle combo. It is surprisingly long-lasting (10+ hours) though it doesn't project much. A sweet floral which is less cloying than a lot of sweet florals at this price point, but is a bit one-dimensional for my taste. It is a happy scent but a little overripe, like day drinking during a hot summer day in college.

I blindly grabbed this from a pile of samples, dabbing it on before the sun came up. As I got into my car to go get coffee I thought, 'What is that gorgeous smell?' This is a cheerful, energetic fragrance. I've read reviews of people describing tuberose as 'chewy' and that applies here. I can detect this scent most easily for the first hour before it settled into more of a skin scent on me. Not so much though that I would complain of longevity. This is a solidly high quality fragrance that makes me smile.

It's an interesting scent. The tuberose is green and sweet, fresh and clean. I can smell a pollen-like scent, probably from the marigold. It settles on a sweet/fresh soapy scent, very clean. The jasmine here plays fiddle to the rest of the composition. It doesn't seem to evolve much, and I like that (more of the nice opening!). While it isn't my absolute favorite tuberose fragrance, it's high there.

It smells like an 80% green and 20% sweet tuberose. only towards the end does this mysterious marigold appear which annoys me even a little. below average performance of profumum roma. For the money I would definitely get tuberose. rating 7/10 as it evolves I must say that it becomes greener as I like it.

I have a sample I added to the two others from this house I really wanted to try, I never expected to like this so much. Pure white flower goodness, not too sweet. I feel like I'm in an optimistic cloud, just what one wants on a sunny spring morning!

I'm also getting linden-blossom, mimosa, and lily popping through in this intriguing floral-mix. Clean, spring-like, and charming- I wouldn't mind a small decant of this for when the mood strikes.

A very similar scent to Narcotic V, Tuberoza by Nishane and discontinued Michael Kors. No need to have all of them though, just choose whichever Suits your wallet.

I'm nearing the end of a recent tuberose focused journey to find a tuberose centered perfume that works for me. I've probably sampled and/or purchased about four dozen tuberose fragrances. I waited until the end to try Nishane "Tuberoza," Nishane "Tuberoza X," Profumum Roma "Tagete," and Daniel Jozier "Golden Tuberose." My tuberose "gold standards" so far have been Amouage "Love Tuberose," Rogue Perfumery "Tuberose & Moss," and Nasomatto "Narcotic V." And FWIW, I own and love several Profumum Roma fragrances... Profumum Roma is okay, and for me somewhat of a disappointment. Opens as a very strong, tuberose soliflore with loads of green bitterness (stems, leaves, sap). Wears & performs with the typical Profumum Roma DNA of high quality, realistic, highly concentrated ingredients. Remains a very true, photo-realistic tuberose fragrance start to finish. Not as green mossy as I hoped it might be (Rogue Perfumery Tuberose & Moss). Not sure what I expected. To my nose, Tagete is similar to Fracas. Carnal Flower, Marfa, Narcotic Venus, etc, etc. Price point is high for what you receive. Disappointingly, this is not an outstanding perfume.

Wow, so straight off the bat, you get what must be the Marigold note. It’s a very sweet floral but there’s a slight tanginess and soft powder to it. Oh and the jasmine of course, blooming jasmine 100%. But about twenty minutes in and it started to feel a bit cloying to me. It kind of smells like...what I would think tulips would smell like? Maybe it's that the almost cartoon-ish floral I'm getting makes me think of bright tulips. When I was an hour in, it was definitely down to the skin and smelled the same to me as it started. Very linear. Anyways, I'm unsure if I like the Marigold note but if you do - I think this is a pretty pure representation of that.

Marigold soliflore, super strong and concentrated, without any other discernible notes. I just put a tiny bit of the sample on my wrist and its filling the room, and now everything smells like a florist's shop lol. I'm not the biggest fan of the smell of marigolds but I can appreciate this for what it is.

This reminds me of the sharply green, milky white, liquid-latex sap that comes out of dandelion stems. It’s very natural and botanical, like the smell of a florist. This is the freshly crushed green stems of heady white florals. Unfortunately it turns my stomach, but I can still appreciate its beauty.
