Violet Beauregarde

A lovely bit of perfume sleight-of-hand on the part of the talented Charna Ethier. Like her Hindu Honeysuckle, which captures the scent of honeysuckle without containing any actual honeysuckle ingredients (for honeysuckle doesn't give up its aroma in production of an essential oil), Violet Beauregarde achieves an incredibly realistic violet blossom aroma using ylang-ylang, jasmine and mimosa with a bit of violet leaf (which has a green herbal smell, very different from actual violet blossoms). The ylang-ylang also lends a hint of bubblegum aroma very appropriate for a scent named after the gum-chewing spoiled brat of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. If you love classic violet perfumes or the Choward violet pastilles and violet chewing gum, you'll love this one, too. (I do, and I DO!) Really must be smelled to be believed. Longevity is good, 4-6 hours in the colder weather here, and the sillage is actually very big for a perfume oil, so apply with care. this opens with parma violet and mimosa. so pretty and spring-y. soon after i get a lot of ylang ylang, which i love. it smells like pollen and real flowers. i never thought about violet and ylang ylang going together, but it works so well. very realistic flowers and i love it. spring in a bottle.

I had to get this if only for the name. I am a lover of violet and I think it stems from childhood. Does anyone remember these dolls called kiddlecuties or something like that? They had these scented dolls in big plastic lockets. Anyway my friends had them and I always wanted the violet and lily of the valley ones. I liked the way they smelled. I was imprinted and have been in a violet love affair ever since. This one smell rather nice I think. I will layer this with other frags. I smell the jasmine and ylang-ylang the most here. I like to carry my oil rollerball frags in my purse for life's little emergencies.

This one is a powdery sweet feminine floral that turns indolic on my skin. As the poopy diaper fades, a light smoke confusingly appears, maybe it's the sandalwood? I like the dry down but don't know if I want to wait to get there.

This isn't a violet scent at all. The mimosa, jasmine and Ylang Ylang take over. Not what I was expecting.
