Unexpected Wood

It reminds me of Bal d'Afrique. Even though they don't share the same notes, the ones listed for this fragrance are accurate. There are only two notes that Fragrantica doesn't mention: pink peppercorn and lavandin. I can also detect a hint of lime. A beautiful clean/woody fragrance. It's blended exceptionally well, with the fresh aromatic notes perfectly balanced by the subtle sweetness of amber. In the opening, the incense is quite smoky, but as it dries down, it turns resinous, smooth, and slightly sweet Even though I've used the word "sweet" several times, this is by no means a sweet fragrance. It's primarily woody and clean. That touch of sweetness simply acts as the thread that ties everything together, making the composition feel as if all the notes are floating on a soft cloud. It's beautiful, creamy and incredibly addictive. Testing it in the summer,( 33°) I found the projection to be quite decent, but a poor longevity of around 2 hours. I'll update this review once I've had the chance to wear it in colder weather. I'm genuinely disappointed that it's no longer available.

This is a more youthful dupe of Byredo’s Bal d’Afrique. You wouldn’t guess that from the note pyramid shown, because unfortunately there’s an error on the Pull & Bear website. The currently displayed notes were copied from another fragrance, Freaking Marvellous. The correct notes are currently visible only in the perfume listing, and they are: top: bergamot, blackcurrant, tagetes, cyclamen heart: orange flower, violet, orchid, jasmine base: vanilla overdose, amber, vetiver, musk Unexpected Wood, as I mentioned, smells like a younger version of Bal d’Afrique. It’s slightly more fruity and sweeter, but the resemblance is still very clear. You get creamy citrus notes, a violet-forward heart, and a base built around vetiver and sweet vanilla - not overdone. Longevity is weaker than in the original, after about 3 hours I could barely smell it on my skin.

Love this! Moderate projection, but a very clean scent! Wish Fragrantica would correct the notes and add the perfumer (Ane Ayo), plus add that this is a Limited edition designed by THOMAS LÉLU. Pull&Bear has recently released some interesting perfumes in EDP format, very affordable and with great performance. According to their website, UW is signed by Ane Ayo and boasts somewhat different notes. From my point of view, it is not an ambery perfume at all. It opens with a citrus and spicy accord (bergamot, lemon, pink pepper), followed by a cold incense and intensified with cigarette smoke, which gives the perfume an unique character, and is supported by woody notes of vetiver and cedar. UW is a striking perfume, with a fresh and woody core infused with a smoky accord reminiscent of a heavy smoker, which I found daring, mature, and addictive, so I bought it immediately.
