Ralph Lauren Polo Red Extreme opens with a moderate projection of sweet citrus and dark wood accords. The blood orange is sour, bitter, and sweet but not overly sweet; the ebony woody is the second tone, as prominent as the blood orange. This ebony wood feels intense, dark, slightly smoky, close to oud but not animalic or pungent. The ebony-wood blends very well with the blood orange creating a unique scent. The coffee note takes a moment but it joins the blend with a soft blond coffee accord that seems to enhance the woody accord and improve projection. As the fragrance commences to dry-down, the blood orange loses some of its initial power and sweetness and moves two steps back letting the ebony wood and coffee take the lead. This and some loss of projection are the most noticeable changes from the opening to the dry down. BLIND-BUY: Yes, but only if you are familiar with its main notes. SIMILAR: Alfred Dunhill Desire Extreme is a close relative, a similar and inexpensive fragrance that is also relatively unique. After trying Polo Red Intense and absolutely falling head-over-heels in love with it, I decided to give the other two Polo Red sample vials a shot (Extreme and OG), purchasing a trilogy sample pack off of eBay. As I initially sprayed this on myself at first, I wasn't sure how to feel about it. It smelled very strongly of blood orange and smelled almost pungent, very strong and unappealing. But after it dries off completely after about 30 minutes or so..... Oh man. you're really in for a treat. Rich, smooth, seductive. Not as sweet as either of the previous entries in the collection. It smells very chocolatey, even though I don't see the note listed on here (Maybe from the ebony wood? Not familiar with the note). Also picking up cedar notes reminiscent of Red intense. A tad bit of smokiness as well. The wood, coffee, smoke and orange work perfectly together in harmony to bring a phenomenal smelling rich masculine cologne. Honestly this one smells totally different compared to Red and Red intense, you can get a slight glimpse of their relation in the first 30 minutes of wear from the coffee notes, but after that there is very little in common. I can't say too much about the longevity yet, as I'm writing this review about 3 hours into the wear (it's still strong on me), but regardless of the longevity I will definitely be looking for a bottle of this. [Edit: I am now 12 hours into the wear and it's still barely hanging on, started to fade after about 8 hours. Decent to good longevity.] It's my second favorite out of the collection so far and one of the best evening colognes I've smelled period. Polo should be ashamed of themselves for discontinuing their two greatest works. Now time to look for Red Rush and Red Remix! 9.6/10

Finally with Polo Red Intense,Ralph Lauren had something worth buying and this is no different. This is a big love for me,i've been wearing this for over 10 months now and love it more every time i wear it. Polo Red Extreme now joins my One million Prive, A*men,Armani Code Profumo and Prada Luna rossa extreme for my Fall/Autumn Winter heavy hitters. This smells like coffee with skittles in a beautifully acceptable way and smells absolutely amazing,it does not smell cheap or tacky or teen...this has been blended well and if you have the right personality you can rock this one no problem,not for shy types. This is exceptionally good,extremely charismatic and wholly addictive refreshing. It contains depth and the additional notes of leather that react to your skin that keep it interesting and the scent itself envelopes your skin quite nicely,for a sweet gourmand fragrance it punches just right in projection and has good longevity,i have the eau de parfum version which lasts all day and it sticks to your clothes well. This is NOT an office scent,ideal for casual or night time wear. Good Complimented fragrance and ideal for close encounters. The first female compliment i received was "what the f**k is that it smells yummy...." I rate this 8.8/10

Polo Red Extreme is easily the most unique fragrance in the entire Polo lineup. The scent is a deep, warm, woody sweetness. The coffee isn't your typical coffee note, it's more like the freshly harvested beans, not a brewed cup or roasted in the bag aroma. The ebony wood is wonderful and pungent and the blood orange adds a darker citrus to the mix. This isn't bright or sparkling like other fruits, it's sweet but heavy and a touch gloomy. If there were ever a palpable example of dichotomy it's that preppy fashion house Ralph Lauren has somehow managed to create a perfect Goth scent. The notes pair together fluidly to create something truly magical. From opening to dry down PRE is nothing short of impeccable. A strong performer I've gotten all day wear from a single spray under a shirt and I doubt anyone would find it offensive. This is one of those fragrances I constantly smell because it's that great. I first came across it as a magazine sample years ago and was blown away. Shortly after I purchased a small bottle because it's pretty pricey by comparison to the more popular Polos but it's worth it. Eventually I'll be picking up the largest size available because PRE is one I always want in my collection.

WHEN I ASK FOR COFFEE IN A MENS FRAGRANCE, THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IM LOOKING FOR!🤤☕️🍊🪵 Polo Red Extreme to my nose smells like an Espresso Romano where they used a juicy fragrant Blood orange instead of the usual lemon for the Espresso to drip onto. The Ebony Wood comes in subtlety, giving the Main attraction of The coffee and Blood orange some rather suprising Longevity and depth . I easily get 10 hours for four Sprays on Skin and on clothes I have to wash it out in order for the scent to dissappear completely. Red extreme is also a beast mode projector, easily with 5feet of Projection for 8 hours before it starts to calm down in that last two hours when sprayed on skin Baffles me to think Polo Discontinued this masterpiece of a flanker but that seems to be the rule not the exception unfortunately with these god tier Flankers of main line colognes Uniqueness/memorability 10/10 Longevity 10/10 Projection 9.5/10 Overall 9.9/10 The one thing keeping Polo red extreme from being a perfect 10/10 is that it's pretty hard to find a reasonable price for what should really be only a 75$ cologne. But, if its a 1$ an ML then I'd still say it's worth it

my first true perfume.......now I have around 300 i remember flying to warsaw and really wanted to buy something. i tested many perfumes but only this one made me interested and I had to have it. I was not experienced at that time and I did not know how to smell individual notes, I just experienced the perfume as a whole. I still have that bottle and regret having used it so foolishly. I don't know if time has changed it a lot, but now this coffee doesn't smell like coffee beans etc. so if you are looking for a strong coffee it is better to buy a sample. now for me it is such a creamy coffee, wood and this blood orange. They do not project strongly, they are delicate and sophisticated, I would not use them in winter because they can be too weak if you compare them with typical heavy perfumes. i will use them in spring because they really like the warmth. new people may be pleased or disappointed because of the hype and it now cost expensive, but there's a reason why people pay £150 for them and these are probably people who have finished the previous bottle.

Easiest way I can describe this one, is think of Polo Double Black, with less musk, and spice, and give it an orange chocolate over tone to it. It is SO good, creamy, ambery, with just subtle hints of spice, and musk to keep it masculine. It being an Eau de parfum means it will last easily 6-8 hours, of noticeable projection, but after that, you can still notice it on you, but won’t project within the room. Easily my favorite scent this year. Reminds me of Marc Jacobs Decadence, which is a woman’s perfume, but have similar sweetness factors behind it. The main difference being the rosey hue to decancence where as chocolate is the shimmery backdrop to this one. I know it states coffee, which is kind of there, but as a whole to the casual passerby, it smells like chocolate to those around me. Out of all the Polo reds, I would rate this #1, them Polo Intense, the original Polo Red, then at the bottom is the new Polo Red Rush. Polo Red Rush is way too musky for my nose. So I can only imagine what it smells like to those around me.

THIS IS FOR READERS WHO DISLIKE THE FRAGRANCE OR ARE CONSIDERING BUYING IT! This fragrance has a certain group of people who it works on and if you are one of them, this fragrance will treat you well. The opening gives immediate chocolatey, sweet coffee notes with a very very slight citric smell. People who are looking for a sweet fragrance (similar to versace eros) but with its own twist this is 100% for you. I spent months researching sweet winter fragrances that project well and last long, I believe that this fragrance is the one. I purchased it in a 3 piece polo red gift set and expected it to just be ok. I was so wrong. This fragrance performs well and smells great. People who dislike it are used to traditional brown/ blue fragrances that are either very dark or very citric. This fragrance is a hybrid of both and I think it deserves its new category. I am a younger guy and I see this fragrance fitting people in their 30's or younger. If you are looking for a new signature scent, BUY A BOTTLE OF THIS STUFF.

I have never smelled the original Polo Red or the other flankers, but I tried this at Macy's a while back and got a bottle. It's pretty simple. I get the notes listed, but there is something in it that makes it sweet. It has just the right amount of sweetness, in my opinion. I don't find it cloying. What I really enjoy about this is the blood orange and coffee, right off the top. I love that bright orange note paired with the dark cofee. It makes me wish the opening would last longer. The orange does fade though and what you are left with is a woodsy, sweet coffee. I live in the California desert, so I am surrounded by sand and cactus, but wearing this makes me think of crisp weather and fall colors. Sometimes, I think coffee scents are hard to pull off, especially where I live, but not Polo Red Extreme. It is nice, cozy, and easy to wear, especially in cooler weather...good stuff.

This is a really delicious scent. I love it would be a great autumn scent for casual Friday’s... just kidding this would work for any day casual or otherwise. I really wish this projected more. It seems to do OK longevity wise... the speed it reaches skin scent though gives the idea of short longevity. I have longevity problems with most scents. I’ll probably still grab a bigger bottle of this to have in the collection. EDIT: I know have the gigantic bottle of this so I can go nuts on the sprays... for winter here in Canada this is a delicious yummy scent. Again if it could be beast mode this would easily be a favorite, Im wearing this more then a lot of other scents right now... its easy to throw on and not think about it while leaving the house because you know its great and non-offensive.

Polo Red Extreme is my favorite winter scent. I was a bit apprehensive because people were comparing it to Ultra Male (which i dislike). I blind bought this because I couldn't pass up a good deal and was not disappointment one bit. Yes it is sweet but not sickly sweet. It is sweet but at the same time has a mature vibe. I pick up the coffee note but the blood orange is the star for me. It is is so well blended and smooth it makes me happy as soon as i spray it on and I can't say that for most of the fragrances on my collection (not to this degree). The performance is excellent on my skin. I can spray this on before i leave for work at 9am and still pick it up when I arrive home after 6pm. Highly recommend trying this one. Sweet - Mildly Playful - Gourmand. So well blended, it took me some time to pull out the coffee note. I essentially get a sweet, fruity and almost chocolaty gourmandish work of art. I’m really amazed that there isn’t more buzz surrounding this fragrance. A top tier Polo release. Aside from older bottles of Polo Green; this is the best performing and longest lasting Polo fragrance I’ve tried or owned. It’s also my second favorite in the line; just slightly behind the original Green... and honestly Green being #1 just might be more for nostalgia. Not too serious or elegant; Polo Red Extreme is the perfect fragrance for meeting a date at a coffee shop, or a fun night out with good friends. If you haven’t tried this yet, it’s time! I recommend it without reservation. Rating: 8/10

I just got this.. it's a 2019 batch.. It's the smell i remembered from a sample years ago.. but the silage is Nothing compared to what it was. The longevity isn't even 4 or 5 hours.. Projection is crap and that makes me angry bc I remember 1 spray filling up my car and half a room. It might be a fake or bad batch but I did look it up and there was talk it got discontinued bc of fears it was being watered down. Maybe I got a super watered down bottle. I don't know. But I sprayed it 5x on me and it didn't last but a few hours. Majorly let down. Still.. the smell gets 2 thumbs up. This is a great mix. Simple and wonderful. Winter time and Fall time maybe even spring time are the best for wearing. I'd say night time is ideal but you can use it in the day time just as well.

Big fan, smells great. Mildly gourmandish yet very wearable. Definitely a cool weather banger, has reasonable projection but won't drown someone out. Longevity is exceptional 7-9 hours in very cold temps and lasts days on clothes. You can smell the Polo Red DNA in there but takes it in a much darker direction with the coffee and wood. I really enjoy this especially considering I snagged a tester for $40. I actually prefer this to Pure Tonka and other designer coffee fragrances. I enjoyed the scent of the original Polo Red as well though (just hated performance) granted it is more of a teenager scent. This version is worth a try even if you weren't a fan of the others and it is more mature than the original two. Really I could see any age pulling this fragrance off.

Someone said this smells like Obsession Dark and I definite see where they are coming from. I like the smell of both fragrances.. This for some reason is getting a lot of hate but its a nice smelling fragrance. Simple as that. I really like both the polo red intense and extreme versions. They are simply very nice smelling fragrances but Polo will always get the hate. Is this revolutionary.. Nope.. But neither are a lot of other frags people are hyping to death.. In fact this is one of the frags I would choose over the more popular ones. this has that cranberry type note but balanced out with some sweetness and coffee.. Just works for me. Another appealing scent with a little kick from the polo line. Scent 4/5 Performance 3.5 to 4/5

First spray is so great, as with many RL flanker scents, this descends into mediocrity after a few hours. Orange and coffee syrup and some very dark, mysterious woods lend a lofty oriental edible experience and you’d quickly understand why this one is so beloved and sought after. This smells like a very stripped down version of many of these types of scents out there so don’t be bummed if you can’t get your nose on it at this point. I was lucky enough to get a noble price on a smaller bottle through eBay. Blind buy and I’m super happy with adding it to my RL lineup but again it’s discontinued so tough to find and a bit simple. Though I will say it absolutely has a clear aphrodisiac quality to it, the juicy red line’s juiciest.

Found this cologne at my dad basement with other cologne when I smelled it I knew I was gonna be in love the coffe and chocolate smell and the citrus opening it’s so good it last around 2 hours for projection but it stays in my skin for like 6 hours when my girlfriend smelled this on me she said she wanted to eat me🫣 this cologne gets me lots of compliments also I check the batch date and it’s one of the first batches made in 2017 my dad just never opening it I still found it with the plastic wrap and the basement is always cool so the projection was way better also i think I saw that it was discontinued wich is very sad either way a good cologne if you can get it on a cheap price then get it it’s worth it

This is really nice! 15 minutes of wear, this begins to shine. I think the blood orange really makes this work well. This was a blind purchase & I’d have to call this one a success. I really enjoy wearing this. Polo Red Extreme Isn’t unique or a fragrance that will set you apart but one thing is for sure, you will smell darn good! You may also get the occasional compliment if that’s what your looking for. Longevity, 6-8 hrs Projection is very strong 1-2hrs, then it settles closer but still carries a punch! 2-3 sprays is sufficient. Otherwise, you will choke yourself & others out. Especially in a closed environment. Sillage is amazing! You will leave a trail as though you are marking territory! 😂 9/10 👍🏽👍🏽

Parfum concentration ? Please, at best this performs like an average EDT. The original Polo Red is one of the worst performing designer fragrances I know, the performance of this Red Extreme version is what I would have expected from the original EDT. The scent itself is nice and even interesting, but there's ABSOLUTELY NOTHING EXTREME ABOUT IT. In fact this is like the least extreme among all the Red flankers, it's such a cuddly sweet warming softy scent, 0% harshness, 0% animalic, 0% sporty. It could even be unisex. It's worth a try, just don't fall for the marketing claims. If you take it for what it is instead of what it was supposed to be, there's less chance to be disappointed.

This was a blind buy which Definitely surprised me. Macys had a sale for a 125ml at $35.00 USD An offer that absolutely anyone would hop on. At arrival to my surprise expecting it to smell like similar (generic) polo releases my eye brows were raised. This is a delicious sweet masculine Coffee note to die for. I myself am not a coffee drinker but the composition of this scent leaves the desire for me to consume it. The opening is heavy almost Chocoloatey and the Orange flows leaving a succulent scent trail that allures. The dry down is the star of this fragrance. Its so well put together and an absolute compliment beast. Probably my favorite Polo release 10/10 fall scent.

The drydown of this banger is one of my favorite drydowns I encountered in my collection and in testing scents so far. Same quality as the drydown of One Million Lucky. It has an above average longevity too if you spray more. Ebony wood and coffee are the most prominent notes, while blood orange is in the background. This is a new love, and the latest addition to my little group of the GOURMAND SQUAD (HB Private Accord, SA Casablanca, One Million Lucky, and SF Uomo). Absolutely a beautiful scent. Smells of some coffee and the blood orange. Go easy on the trigger. Two sprays is really enough. If I spray more than that, something in it starts to give me a headache. I don't see tobacco listed here, but it does smell like there is tobacco here. Is it the ebony woods? It's not very sweet, but there is some sweetness here. Yes like a cousin of Ultra Male, but with blood orange and coffee instead of pear and cinnamon. On my skin this lasts a good long time. I got my first compliment from a stranger today on the smell of this fragrance. So that definitely says something about this.

You wouldn't think coffee and citrus would go together butt...you would be wrong!The first cologne i ever bought was Polo Red Intense and i loved it so much i decided to try another Polo Red and i went with this one not even knowing it had coffee in it. If you like Intense you will like this. Its more bold and warmer. Perfect for cold weather but isnt too bad for summer even in hot weather. Bit pricey but does last really long and is noticeable. This... this is it. This is the single best coffee fragrance I've ever smelled. It smells like how you would want a coffee scent to smell. Dark, rich, sweet, and just a hint of citrus. It reminds me of an espresso with bit of demerara syrup and an expressed lemon peel. Utterly delicious, utterly attractive, utterly amazing. It legitimately saddens me that this is discontinued. And I really regret not picking up a back up full-sized or larger bottle while I could. Now I'm stuck with my 75ml that I'm scared to even spray since I don't want to waste it.

What i would do to smell this again .. i'm literally in tears here .. i think this was the best coffee scent to ever exist in the market .. and i can't believe non of the clone houses have attempted to clone it because i think this is the easiest cash grab .. i've never come across a citrussy coffee scent this good .. it's straight to the point and addictive .. whenever a scent can make you nostalgic .. you know it's done a great job .. i say this is one of my top all time favorite scents and it's a crim.e that they discontinued it.

What an amazing surprise! I expect to be a typical ''Axe scent'' like Polo red but this one is GREAT. First, it's a blast of blood orange mix with coffee! Then, the ebony wood appears slowly to give a masculine edge. This is more a mature fragrance to the Polo red and red intense. Casual, dates and nights out for sure. for work in office, Yes in colder time. Fall and winter, more a night time scent Nice projection nice longevity, got 8hrs I would considering give a try for a full bottle for sure! Good job Ralph Lauren!! 8.5/10

I don't know why more people do not like this. and they give voting carelessly stating that poor performance. I don't think so. This fragrance is very good, the opening like brew hot coffee laced with orange-scented cream. very sweet in the beginning, but slowly declining sweetness, to feel the scent of coffee beans. Performance is very good. not beast mode, but it was very pretty and above average.

Dark, rich, sensual. My ex wife picked this one out of many when I first started my fragrance journey. I now have 3 back up bottles. Ladies love it and so do I. Balanced and just a bloody good perfume. Really good stuff and such a shame it's discontinued. 9/10 - losing a point for versatility, obviously a cooler weather fragrance. But you can put it off on warmer evenings. Ladies want to eat you!

Polo Red Extreme, Coffee, and Blood Orange are detectable in the opening. I get a sweet powder and very appealing qualities in the heart stages. In my opinion, the dry down is where the magic happens; the wafts you get from this fragrance when the breeze is just right are mesmerizing. Stunning for colder, breezy weather. Performance is admirable at about 7-8 hours +; scent trails are grand.

tried this on a few days ago the clerk told me it was polo black come to find out its polo red extreme the scent is awesome and i love it.... it will be my next purchase its sweet with wiffs of coffee reminds me of 1 million but much better..... revising this i actually own the bottle now and i have to say i am in more inlove with this cologne this is one notch under dior savauge for me

This is a beautiful, cozy, warm and inviting fragrance. Only for cold weather and only for men. Interestingly, this is not really a sexy scent, it's not really sweet. It's woody and coffee-y and the slight sweetness is coming from the blood orange. That's why I think it's better to wear during the day. Perfect for the office, although I would wear it sparingly as it is discontinued.

This fragrance is amazing. I think it is the only one in my collection that I can peak all the notes clearly without even trying. In my opinion ages 25 and above will enjoy this a lot. Opens with the coffee and at the dry down it is 35% coffee and 65% wood, the blood orange smooths everything down. It is blended perfectly and performs like a beast (8+ hours) Easy a 9/10.

@McJerkins I can get the similarity that you’re smelling between Layton and Red Extreme. I’d consider them in a similar class with a bright fruity opening reinforced by a spice like cardamom and some sweetness underneath. To me, PRE is a much softer fragrance with less projection while Layton has a menthol like sharpness that seems to push the fragrance off of the skin.

It opens bright and citrusy with notes of coffee. The dry down is long lasting and smells like toasted marshmallows to me, in a good way. The dry down sits close to my skin which is good because it could be too sweet for some people around me, but I love it. I like polo red intense as well but for different reasons. They only share similarities in their openings.

Revisited this scent again today, and once again my first impression had played tricks on me, the first time i did not care to much about this one at all, but today i feel like its another fragrance with a fresh coffe opening thats what i get slightly gourmand, nothing wrong with this one, tends to lean towards younger men, not bad at all.

Sneaky good. Simple but well done imo. Wasn't expecting much from Polo but this one surprised me in the best way. Definitely sweet definitely gourmand I think the scent is 9/10 performance 5/10 overall 7/10. Nothing ground breaking but a nice change of pace. Has a small place in my winter rotation.

To my nose this smells nearly identical to Ultra Male. Redundant to own both. It has a slightly weaker performance too. I’d buy ultra male instead as it’s more unique and bright. This is really good in its own right however and will pull you compliments no doubt. Rating: 7.5/10 Compliments: 8/10

Had that similar vibe to jpg ultra male,, But this one had a coffee notes, Longevity was good!! 8-9 hours..suits for a colder days,..night out!! Leather jacket,!? But i prefer jpg ultra male,.. By the way its a good one from polo,..so worth buying.. Its an EDP version.. Worth buying..9/10..

This is in my top 5 favorites and I'm very sad this is discontinued. It is very good stuff and I smell chocolate, woody notes, coffee and a hint of citrus. I absolutely love this scent and it just makes you feel good wearing it. Projects good, average longevity. Please bring it back! Haha.

Such a classy, sophisticated man’s fragrance. The blood orange and coffee are absolutely glorious. So well blended. The ebony is there, but sits in the background. Luckily picked up a 75ml bottle of this in a Facebook group this week. There are still some around if you hunt. Good luck. 🤞🏻

Minimalism at its finest, reminds me of Ultra Zest with a heavy dose of ebony woods. I get around 10 hours of performance with big sillage for the first 3 to 4 hours. I also love the sharp black and red contrast of the bottle, now that it's hit the discounters I consider it a good buy.

This is just a lovely scent with an unique scent ID I like the original RED But it lacks in performance. RED extreme in Other hand is the version on steroids in performance. Better sillage & better scent. + Dope longevity This is dope & IF you like the original RED you’ll love this!

Only two fragrances of polo I would ever recommend are, purple label, and this fragrance. First of all to discontinue this should be a crime. This is a beautiful woody fragrance. The blood orange and coffee compliment the ebony wood so much. It’s dark, it’s gourmand. A masterpiece

A richer, more sophisticated version of Red Intense. The coffee note is addicting, and carries the entire composition, drying down to a rich mocha skin scent. The loud berry opening in Intense is noticeably toned down here, making this more appropriate for daytime wear.

This is my favorite fragrance from the Polo house. The blood orange mixed with coffee and ebony wood makes for a linear sweet scent that has fantastic longevity and sillage. I'm a big fan of JPG Ultra Male and I can see the resemblance here. Expect compliments.

This is a love, it smells GREAT. Solid performance too. The coffee note is exactly the same as in Michael Jordan Legend and Rochas Man, but STRONGER, and blended SO WELL with a blood orange note and with an ebony wood note faintly in the background.

Why why why! This fragrance had sentimental memories for me, luckily I just picked up 2X 125ml bottles for a great price. I love this stuff and so does my wife. 9/10 - losing a point due to not being a year round fragrance. Love it. Bring it back.

Burst of citrus, vanilla and coffee notes. It is very sexy, playful and elegant at the same time. Perfect for date nights in winter. The projection and longevity is great and you can rock this on causal or formal occasions. 9.5/10, recommended.

I'm surprised! This is such a great fragrance, It's sweet but it's also dark and has a gourmand quality to it. Definitely more on the sophisticated side and can be worn by all ages. the coffee note gives it a darkness. bottles-worthy!

guys what does ebony wood smell like? i smell the orange and the coffe which is in my opinion is kind of like a dark chocolate smell, and i smell the ebony woods but i just cant wrap my head around of what it actually smells like.
