Polo Red Intense

Initially bought a sample of this off of FragranceNet, not realizing when I initially purchased the sample that there were no larger sizes available. When I first tried this cologne on a sheet of wafting paper I wasn't really impressed with it. I just tossed the paper in the trash and threw it in my "meh/wear at home to test" pile along with a bunch of other samples and just kinda forgot about it... Until one day about a month or so later I had a day off and picked it out of my random sample bag and decided to try it on. I was absolutely blown away. Obsessed. I couldn't stop smelling my wrists all day. It starts with a wonderful opening of leather, grapefruit, lavender and saffron followed by the spicy ginger and deep cranberry in the middle, finishing off with a crispy fresh cedar and sage ending. About thirty minutes to an hour in the coffee really starts to take hold, giving it a really rich, robust scent that just rounds it off perfectly. The sillage is fine, it lasts about 7 to 8 hours at a moderate sillage... not overpowering at all. But wait! There's more. After the moderate sillage phase is completed, it turns into an intimate scent that'll last you the rest of the day... It becomes a very wood-forward scent, primarily being the cedar that really kicks with a hint of amber and leather that were at one point stronger than the cedar. It's PHENOMENAL. Very complex and I love how the scent fully dries down. Incredible. The very next morning, I hopped on to FragranceNet determined to buy a full bottle. It was to my dismay that I discovered that this cologne was discontinued, and it has been for a while. Fortunately I found a couple of new (no box) bottles on eBay from a reputable seller not too far over the $100 price point, I pulled the trigger on them immediately. New in box this stuff is reselling for almost double that and I wasn't quite ready to drop that much.... it was probably a now or never opportunity. For that reason I can't say this stuff is a good value. It's definitely expensive, but I wouldn't call it overpriced because it really is phenomenal. It's still an okay value. I really hope they decide to bring this stuff back one day, it's a crying shame that they discontinued such an amazing scent.... I'm definitely going to try the rest of the Polo Red collection after this. The only con that I can really think of (besides the fact that it's discontinued and has resale prices if you want it) is the fact that I can't imagine this is an all-purpose cologne. It's definitely a scent for cooler months, the cranberry and ginger almost give it warm holiday vibes. I will test this tomorrow when I work outside for 8 hours in the summer heat... But I think Eros will be a better cologne for that. If it worked any time of year for any occasion I'd consider this my signature cologne.... But I think Eros keeps that spot even though I like the smell of this way more. It's probably the closest thing I've ever smelled to a 10. Will I ever find this stuff at a reasonable price again? Who knows. But either way, I will always keep this stuff in rotation as long as I can find it, even up to the price it is right now... because it's just THAT good. 9.8/10 *EDIT: I tried this cologne working outside all day in the summer heat for 10 hours and it held up! The intimate woody scent just kicks in a lot faster... About 2 hours or so in. Eros is still definitely a better pick for the occasion, but it still pulls through in any situation. This is definitely my new signature fragrance for cool months, alongside Eros for the warmer months.

Ralph Lauren Polo Red Extreme opens with a moderate projection of sweet fruity, ambery, and spicy accords. The cranberry and grapefruit join to create a very aromatic, sweet, fruity, and delicious tone, evocative of sweet cranberry juice; the lemon and saffron are just a soft touch. In just a moment the ginger is noticeable adding its sharp and spicy accord, the coffee is just a touch and it does not change the so far sweet fruity character of the fragrance. Both, the lavender and sage are also soft touches. As the fragrance dries down, the amber joins the blend with a resinous and honey-like accord, the red cedar adds a fresh woody touch and the leather a whiff for depth and projection but not prominent. The most noticeable change from the opening to the dry-down is the partial dissipation of the fruity accords, particularly the grapefruit, however, the sweetness remains strong, also the initial moderate projection drops from moderate to low very quickly. Once Ralph Lauren Polo Red Intense has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a moderate to low projection, very sweet, cranberry, ginger and amber fragrance with soft floral, coffee, woody and leather accords. The fragrance feels comforting, delectable, delicious, fruity, gourmand, inviting, masculine but not for much, modern, natural, rich, sweet, syrupy, warm, and very pleasant. Polo Red is a short-live fragrance, spraying clothes seems a necessity to maintain projection and longevity. LONGEVITY: 3/10. Moderate about 3 hours. It projects well for less than 1 hour. SEASONS: This fragrance feels very versatile, however, it is better suited for the colder/milder months. OCCASIONS: Outdoor gatherings, casual, holidays, romantic, dating. VERSATILITY: 4/10. Low, this fragrance is better suited for casual wear, in colder weather. GENDER: Masculine. However, most of the notes are neutral, which makes the fragrance unisex. AGES: Any. RECOMMENDATION: This fragrance can be found discounted for about $50. Its performance could be better but it is a pleasant, sweet, relatively cranberry unique fragrance ideal for those unique occasions that require a delicious and appealing fragrance. If you don’t have one, this is a good option. BLIND-BUY: Yes, the notes are very pleasant. SIMILAR: These are examples of fragrances in the same genre. Paco Rabanne 1 Million EDP is a very sweet, spicy, cinnamon, citrus, and amber fragrance; Armaf El Cielo Men EDP is a sweet, citrus, spicy, and woody scent; Azzaro Wanted by Night Men EDP is very sweet, spicy, fruity and woody; Cuba Prestige Gold Men EDT is a very sweet, amber, woody, and spicy fragrance; Paco Rabanne Pure XS is a very sweet, ginger, and grapefruit fragrance; Yves Saint Laurent Y Live Intense is a great very sweet, spicy, citrus and woody scent. SUMMARY: A very sweet, cranberry, ginger, and amber fragrance with soft floral, coffee, woody, and leather accords. The fragrance feels comforting, delectable, delicious, fruity, gourmand, inviting, masculine but not for much, modern, natural, rich, sweet, syrupy, warm, and very pleasant.

***I still want to try the others in the Polo Red lineup, so if you've got a sample of Red Rush, Pride, EDP, or Remix, don't hesitate to DM me!*** I first smelled this in a store years ago and immediately knew I HAD to have it!!! Fruity, warm, and a little spicy, Red Intense makes you salivate and wish you could take a bite out of it! It's my signature scent, my usual go-to, and it's been my favorite fragrance of all time. I'm obviously a little biased, but I think that this would be perfectly fine as a blind buy that most people would really enjoy. I've gotten so many compliments over the years, and my partners always love it so much they want it sprayed on the hoodies they borrow from me so they can snuggle them when we're apart! I think the perfume is suitable for any occasion, any time of year, and would be a great head-turner of a scent on people of any and all genders! Notes: The bottle classifies it as an Oriental/Spicy fragrance, but I would really disagree. It's more warm, fruity, gourmand, and comforting to me, with a little bit of spice. The bottle also lists the main notes as ginger, leather, and saffron, but I don't get the saffron, and besides, this scent is SO much more than just ginger and leather. To me, the fragrance starts off with grapefruit and red berries, like red currants or cranberries, and then is uplifted by the ginger before mixing with a soft, animalic scent, kind of like cedar, leather, and musk. This fragrance is super well blended since it's honestly difficult to pull apart any of the notes, and the only thing that I've found that's even remotely similar to it is Baccarat Rouge 540 because it also shares the same fuity gourmand-ness, but is much sweeter. Sillage: 7/10 - around a 6 ft radius, and stays like that for a few hours before becoming more like 2 ft Longevity: 8/10 - this stuff LASTS, especially on clothes! Scent: 10/10 - I really can't say enough good things about it! Value: 9/10 - $120 is nothing to sniff at (pun intended), but for a 4.2 oz bottle that'll last you years, I think it's SO worth it, especially when compared to other brands like Amouage, Parfums de Marly, or House of Oud that will charge you multiple hundreds of dollars for much less volume. Value is such a subjective thing, but Red Intense for sure smells like it should be so much more expensive than it is. Comparisons to Red & Red Extreme: Because I love Red Intense so intensely, I recently bought samples of Polo Red and Polo Red Extreme, and I'm shocked that I dislike the two of them so much! Red shares a lot of the same DNA but is more citrusy and doesn't have the same berry, leathery-ness that I love and, because it's an EDT and not an EDP, doesn't last nearly as long as Intense. Extreme has the same kinds of fruit in the opening as Intense and has a stronger coffee note, but the fruits smell like they're rotting, and with Extreme's Perfume-level concentration, I don't want to smell like rotting fruit for hours on end, or, even worse, inflict that pain upon others around me! ***I still want to try the others in the Polo Red lineup, so if you've got a sample of Red Rush, Pride, EDP, or Remix, don't hesitate to DM me!***

FIRST INITIAL WEARING REVIEW : So far I love this ! It does smell very similar to Polo Red but they took what was great about Polo Red and made it a lot better !!! What I loved about the original Polo Red was the fruity opening but unfortunatly that opening only lasted about 20 mins. In Polo Red Intense however they took that fruity opening and made it smell even better as the opening with Red Intense smells a little less synthetic and a little more rich and rounded as it adds some citrus notes. The fruity opening actually lasts a good 1 hr and a half which I love ! In the mid and drydown the fruity notes are still there but then thats when the amber and coffee comes in and blend beautifuly with the fruity notes. This truly is a great scent and I look forward to wearing this more ! This is also 1 of the very few scents Ill be hitting the love button with. Performance is really good and you only need 2-4 sprays (4 SPRAYS MAX) 2 for office wear and 4 for going out on cold nights. This lasts me a total of 6-10 hours which is an improvement from the original As far as projection goes this is strong for the first hour and then dies down to a scent bubble that stays around you extending about a foot away for 6-10 hours. Any more sprays than 4 and you will annoy people so please be careful Overall id rate this an 8.75 out of 10 !!! ------------- Comparison between the original and intense The opening is better in the intense as its fruitier and the slight citrus touch mixed with coffee makes for a well blended fragrance. The opening also lasts longer in the intense. The original however had more coffee so if you like coffee more than fruity notes id stick with the original. The biggest difference to me is that the original went from being a fruity scent straight into a coffee scent whereas the intense keeps the same smooth fruity scent but in the end the fruit dies out a little bit but not all together

Speaking as a woman: this is my favorite cologne of all time, only rivaled by Aqua di Gio which is also wonderful but in an entirely different way. I love this scent to the point of buying a tester to experiment with wearing it on myself; the verdict is still out on that. It smells really herbal on me which is nice but I might just smell like a really hot guy, I can't tell. Definitely not a feminine scent but it *may* be unisex, leaning masculine. It's a punchy, energetic scent with an inviting semi-sweetness. The best way I could describe it is casual but classy, polished but not pretentious. If I smelled it on a man I'd think he was an easy-going, refined guy who knows how to have fun. Aqua di Gio is very suit-and-tie to me but this is more approachable. The regular Polo Red is also really nice but this is phenomenal. I can't speak to longevity or sillage or anything like that but it is a great cologne. If its scent on me is anything to go by, definitely get a tester because this one does seem pretty body-chemistry-reliant because it smells way more fruity/coffee-toned out of the bottle than on my skin, where its literally all sage, saffron, cedar, and amber on me. Edit: After a couple of hours of wear it's definitely too masculine for me to wear. Reminds me of a cedar-scented candle. Very odd how pronounced the cedar is on me but as a whole still an excellent scent. Will be washing off though.

I really don't see how this scent is so popular? Well, I do, but I don't see how Calvin Klein IN2U wasn't more poplar. It's the same type of smell! With lemon, minus the kool-aid-esque cranberry, that is. I purchased this scent for that reason, because I thought it would be a more "red" variation on that scent, and I was right, it is. Yet, even with it being an EDP, I was less than impressed with its longevity. I got 3 1/2 hours out of this one with both 5 sprays, and even 9! And to be honest, I didn't care much for the cranberry. Another cheapy with a similar smell is Rocawear Evolution, which I just bought for $11. Evolution is darker and more manly, thanks to the incense, and it has mango instead of the cranberry, with a bit of a darker, more boozy vibe. In my opinion, for what I wanted Polo Red Intense for, Rocawear Evolution is a direct replacement. I'll be sticking with my cheapies that give me the same type of smell. I just bought another 3.4oz bottle of IN2U for only $13, and a 3.4oz bottle of Rocawear Evolution for $11. Both of them last longer on me, for some reason, and although you might have to apply more sprays, it's more than worth it for their price! Shame. I really wanted to like this one. I DO like this one. I just wish it would last longer. I might cheat and purchase a fragrance oil clone of this one.

I don't really care enough to actually say this usually... This fragrance is a panty dropper. I typically buy fragrances for myself first and my wife second... With that said, the jury is out on my right hand. She enjoys it but she can't decide if it's a love... But it is bordering on one, which is different from almost any other frag I have. Women like this fragrance. It's a compliment getter. It has a vibe similar to Mugler's Pure Malt or several A*Men flankers. Very sweet. This one changes it up for a more fruity note mixed with leather, less the boozy tone and patch. I'd say less gourmand and more spicy but still very sweet. You understand what I'm going for here. It's easy to see why it would be a crowd pleaser and more importantly, pleasing to the opposite sex. It has a masculine edge that blurs the lines between a male and unisex frag. It leans towards the fresh side which makes it suitable for pretty much all weather. Since I used Pure Malt as a basis, I'll say that is more of a sweet masculine you could use in a professional or formal setting, while this is more aloof, casual. It has excellent longevity at around 10 hours and a "bomb" is being modest in terms of the sillage. It can be found in the "cheapish" range which makes this one nearly perfect. I love it.

Just got my sample of this yesterday when I purchased the extreme version. I'll be buying the actual bottle soon enough. Another gem from Ralph's house, his entire red line screams sex, smelling amazing and enjoying life. Just picked up a full size bottle of this a few weeks ago from Macy's Scent:10 The creamy cranberry hits you instantly Longevity:7.5 Sillage:6.5 Unique/Industry First:6 Quality:9 It is such an incredible scent, I wanted to get a 2nd bottle. I ordered the 2nd bottle off Ebay May 4 2017, it was a tester with the cap in a white box with cellophane for $41.91 from Magicscents. The outer cellophane has an Arabic writing sticker on it, and the smell is somewhat different, not as sweet or as long lasting. About 95% sure the tester is fake, I'm still doing my due diligence, the seller hasn't guaranteed me it's 100% authentic, all they said was that no other buyers have complained and if I want I can return it. I'm currently dealing with the manufacturer to get to the bottom of this and see if they sell/supply testers with arablic writing stickers on the cellophane.

Polo Red Intense is fruity, spicy and woody fragrance. Its output is very sweet and fruity, as a cranberry juice. The cranberry is sparkling, but at the same time the scent is warmy, because is posible to smell amber and some spices, maybe ginger and in minor intensity safroon too. After 30 minutes the coffee note it shows, but never in the first level of the smell, because cranberries or other berries fruit is in the top. Once in the dryng phase you can detect a kind of leathery note together the berries, amber and a soft vanilla. This fragrance is in the same basket of Eros Flame, because it has a sparkling fruity output and has a warm and spicy drying. Polo Red Intense is warmy fragrance, for that reason, is good option to wear in fall or winter season, for outgoings with friends or with your couple. Its longevity is good, at least 8 hrs, and sillage is from regular to low. Sometimes I love the smell of this fragrance and sometimes I dislike, because is very sweet and in a warm weather is a bad choice.

Wow, this stuff is near perfect. I love it. I've never had anything from Ralph Lauren, never even tried one. I had stopped in a bonton looking for something new, and actually bought d&g intenso which is nice, doesn't last long, and completely different than this. While at the store I was given a sample of intense red, after going home, and checking this site, I gave it a try. Needless to say, I went back to the store the next day and purchased the biggest bottle. Yes the opening is sweet, and strong. Almost feminine. But it smells so damn good. It mellows out a bit on the sweetness and the scent evolves into a more masculine one. If you are a fan of givenchy play intense, mj legend, givenchy pi or anything with a sweet side, like myself, I would highly suggest giving this a try, it's different than the ones I mentioned, I think I found my signature scent. Wow, impressed. P.s. It lasts forever and projects mightily.

Lots of cranberry up top with a bit of citrus for freshness. Then, a hint of the lavender and the ginger rolls in. The coffee note waits for a bit and then slowly but surely begins easing in at around the ten minute mark.This is the most interesting part in the timeline of this fragrance and I love it while it lasts. You get cranberry and coffee with some spice...yum! Those last notes, the Amber, cedar and leather serve to provide the masculinity and that coffee note is just barely detectable with the faint reminder of the sweet cranberry at the end. As far as performance complaints, I find it to be a fragrance that I go nose-blind to quickly, but others smell it long after I can’t. This is a delightful fragrance, well-executed and while not a beast, noticeable and gets compliments. Blind Buy -yes Scent 8.5 Performance 7.5 Sillage 7 Longevity 7 Value 8

I just bought this yesterday. Its my newest perfume and one of my very favorites. I sampled most of the other "colors" of Polo, and I didn't think any of them were special, some I really disliked. I just passed by a Macy's counter this month, and sampled POLO RED INTENSE for the first time, and fell in love with the scent. I tried it a few times, since I wanted to be sure. I'm sure! I have a dozen other fragrances, so I didn't really need more, but this scent is special. Its very sweet and reminds me of cotton candy. I haven't seen it on anyone's Top Ten list, but its on mine. I also bought the regular RED perfume version at the same time, and while they are very close, RED has a slightly better scent, IMHO. I am going to try alternating them, and layering them to see how much projection and longevity I can get out of the combination.

Love this. I saw a youtube video from Demi Roland on her top 10 mens cheap fragrances and bought 4 or 5 of them off her list. This one I believe was about mid to lower end of her list. My two favorites we're this and Lacoste white which was lower on the list then this one. It's great, I didn't like the top list ones that much but this one I'll keep around after the bottle is empty. Projection isn't that great. After playing around with it I would recommend you spray it on your clothes so it holds the scent longer and maybe go a little heavy on the sprays. I have gotten a lot of compliments with it. It's pretty easy to wear and not bland at all. It's very refreshing. I would recommend as a blind buy. The notes listed on here are pretty much on point but I don't get the coffee in it at all. 7/10

This is an extremely bright, vibrant,fruity adult fragrance with a touch of oriental that is sweet without being sickly sweet nor syrupy. This is a big love for me along with the even better Polo Red Extreme. The cranberry note dominates but is it surrounded by hints of amber,coffee,leather,ginger that keep this smelling extremely fun,addictive and slightly mysterious....i can pick up a slight skittles/candy vibe in the background. I've enjoyed this nearly as much as the much better JPG Ultra Male which bares some similarities in that its sweet,sexy and popular with the females. Ideal all year round,fairly good projection and longevity,casual wear more than office. I rate this an 8.2/10 This smells great.

I know RL gets a really bad reputation... But some of their fragrances just work. I have always gotten a lot of compliments from polo black and began to really enjoy the fragrance.. Even though it sits more on generic side of the spectrum. Polo Red just has a really nice appealing smell to me. I only tested it out on paper, but it seems to have some potency and power. Most of the other fragrances I have tried died down a lot, especially la nuit... they really reformulated that to piss.. Polo red intense has a little candy sweet, a little tartness, but also a masculine quality about it. IIt is an appealing scent that probably will get a lot of compliments for sure. It stood out to me.

Hard to not love this! A very juvenile citrus scent with a smell that also reminds me of strawberry in a way. The punchy sweet smell from the beginning slowly vanishes and turns into the shape of a blatantly fresh and young smell, full of energy. Very elegant, very fresh, and extremely addictive. People will want to smell you all the time. I get around 5 or 6 hours of performance, not as much as people are stating here, but still pretty good. I have received lots of compliments with this on, and I rarely get those (it's not very common to give compliments on someone's perfume in Spain), so the more reason to validate this and other reviews of this marvelous scent. 8.5/10.

I got a profile just so I could share my appreciation for several fragrances that got me started. This is one of them! I live where it's hot and humid most of the year, so I don't get the chance to wear many sweet fragrances. But I travel for a living, and I always take this one with me when I hit the road in the fall/winter. Sweet cranberry and masculine coffee to balance it out. It's fun but not juvenile. This feels like what the reserved, classy guy wears when he wants to let loose a little. I have such fond memories of wearing this while traveling in the northeast to see the leaves change. It'll never leave my rotation. And it is a complement beast for me.

I sprayed Polo Red on one hand and intense on the other and, as expected, Intense opens much much stronger than Polo Red, same smell but more cranberry and definitely more sweet. Intense also sits at the top notes for a very long time compared to PR. By the time PR dries down and smells like coffee and amber, PRI is still going strong on the top notes and sweeeeet. Such a nice smell though, definitely worth it. Buy the intense version, better by miles. EDIT: Polo Red is now a distant memory on my hand while Intense is a very pleasant coffee smell. Sweet coffee, just amazing. Same smell all the way through for both but Intense is on steroids for sure.

I really like this scent. I've smell the original Polo red (wasn't a fan of), smell the Extreme which I really love but the Red intense was intriguing. I expected it to be a more cloying version of Polo red red. Was wrong! Yes it do start with the same vibe of cranberry and citrus punch, but the amber and coffee appear quickly and leather much later to give and interesting mature mysterious edge. Longevity is nice 6 to 7 hours. fair projection good compliment getter I recommend this scent is early 20s. More a night time scent yes yes it's more versatile Office,casual, and dates. Yes fits the colder time Fall, winter and early spring. so 7.5/10

My husband has this and he is on his 2nd bottle thanks to me. Lol... I absolutely love the way it smells on him. I’m proud to say, he has received compliments from other women as well. In my opinion, it’s clean, fresh with a touch of spice. The lavender is prominent at first, then softens to a creamy, citrusy spicy scent—if that makes sense. I apologize if my review of specific notes are not clear. Reviewing perfumes in my collection is a tad bit easier. What I do know is the notes blend so handsomely. The scent trail that follows him makes me want to pull him closer, inhale slowly and just breathe-in...That’s how much I enjoy it.
