Polo Red Rush EDP ✦ A Sporty Familiar with a Dark Twist I’ve tried a lot from the Polo line, and most have been forgettable—except maybe Polo Red EDP, which still holds some weight. The classic green bottle is iconic, but let’s be honest, it smells dated now. Red Rush EDP, though, caught me by surprise. At first, I wasn’t sure I’d like it: pineapple, mint, and especially orange blossom came charging out in a way that nearly lost me. I’ve never been an orange blossom fan, so it didn’t win me over right away. But patience paid off. As it settled, the sharp edges faded and the fragrance found its footing. The apple and cedar combo became crisp and smooth, touched by just enough lavender to soften the edges. There’s a whisper of coffee in the base—not enough to turn it gourmand, but just enough to add a subtle richness. The result is something that feels like a cousin of Chanel Allure Homme Sport with a drop of espresso. Do I like it? Definitely. Enough to buy? Not quite yet. But if you don’t already have an Allure clone or two lying around, I highly recommend it. I'm glad I gave myself time with this one before reviewing this one. In the heart of winter I disliked this one, but now that the warmer temperatures are in, I am loving it. In the winter this was a minty, cranberry fresh mess.. But in the warmer weather that cranberry freshness from the Red Extreme is coming through in just the right balance to blend with that mint to give it a unique fresh twist to the Red line. A lot of fresh colognes go blue (aquatic) or green (forrest), so to go red (fruity citrus) is a nice change to the norm. In which the normal has become too mainstream. Therefore, this is a nice addition for Spring and Summer for those wanting something different than the usual suspects (Chanel Blue, Sauvage, Allure sport extreme, etc).

Purchased RR, this afternoon...very similar to the original Polo Red. Replace the cranberry with apple, and add more musk...and I think you have this one. I kind of feel this one is a bit more spicy. Very wearable...smells great...HIGHLY recommend... EDIT: The more I wear this, the more I realize it smells very different from the other reds. The middle notes with the mandarine, apple, musk are quite nice... BTW - the RL.com says "red coffee accord" is also a base note...strange it is not listed on fragrantica...

This one seems to be getting overly harsh reviews. I tried it out today and found that it smells pretty similar to a favourite of mine, Burberry Brit Rhythm - with excellent longevity and projection to boot - despite its completely different ingredients! It's not generic to my nose, being cool and spicy and it smells like there's a ton of leather in it, but none is listed?! And the pellucid silver-grey bottle is really classy too with the unmistakable look of a limited edition. Lovin' it! What's not to like?!

I bought this last week, it’s a citrus airy kind of scent, it smells like polo red mixed with chocolate. It has a faint soft smell, that changes through the hour. This is not better than intense or extreme. Maybe if they make a Parfum version of this , it would be much better. It’s almost smells like a gourmand citrus. It doesn’t last as long as extreme and does not smell better. Someone wake me up when polo does flanker for the great polo extreme

Let’s be honest. It’s a simple mass appealing fragrance. I don’t think anyone will have anything negative to say about this but that’s the problem. It doesn’t break any new ground. Safe buy for anyone between the ages of 16-35yr.

Alot better than the ratings show, if your a fan of fruity scents its nice, nothing extremely special but definetly worth it if u can find it on sale

I just received a 4.2 oz bottle of this cologne. It smells great in the top. Great price. I will be trying it out in this year's Florida summer heat.

Easy to wear, uncomplicated, and enjoyable. A fresher take on the "Red Polo" DNA. I like it. The dry down is the nicest part.

Sooo I’m going to give a review of this fragrance based around four factors ... scent, scent lifetime, bottle design and value for money ....so here goes firstly red rush is in no way original new or groundbreaking but does that mean it’s a terrible fragrance? no In fact it’s quite the opposite so red rush opens up quite similarly to Hugo boss red for men before settling into a scent that resembles 212 vip I’ve owned both of those fragrances and enjoy both red rush is like a hybrid of those to with a little extra going on that just almost makes it it’s own. On skin the fragrance performs well I’m currently wearing two spays one to my hand and one to my neck and can smell it at arms length 3 hours after application so the fragrance definitely performs well on my skin overall longevity is around 9 hours but can still be smelled close to skin the day after. I would recommend this as a night out clubbing/partying fragrance it will be appealing to both guys and ladies under 40 definitely not one for formal occasions or the office. The bottle is typically Ralph Lauren with typical stopper and shape but the silver red and black work well together giving an almost sporty vibe which is quite surprising as this could have been branded as polo red sport but kudos to the rl marketing team to actually come up with something a bit more original and branding it red rush rather than just kopping out and stamping sport on the bottle. Overall price will vary depending where you shop or purchase from I picked up a discounted 100ml bottle from eBay for 35 British pounds then added a coupon which knocked off an extra £5 so from that standpoint it’s excellent value for money if I paid full retail price maybe not but still as i mentioned earlier this isn’t a bad fragrance if you can get hold of this discounted then I’d recommend buying or at least pick it up in the sales as I don’t think this will be around for long and will be discontinued which is a shame overall I rate this fragrance 3* out of 5 .

I know the scent of Polo Red Rush from testers but haven't used it since I bought it from SG. This is a fruit basket. Opening will greet you with sweet citrus with a mixture of lemon, orange and pineapple. From its opening to dry down scent is linear until it settles to a powdery skin scent. This is very much in the line of my Polo Red EDP, Parfum maybe Ralph's Club. It is going to be redundant having the others. It has deviated from the older musky scents maybe to cater to the younger crowd. This is a fun day scent and good for the younger crowd. Even teenagers can wear this. Longevity is weak at 3-4 hours which needs resprays. Compliments in small enclosed areas like the elevator and when I am teaching some residents up close. But Projection can't be more than that. This is fun and hip to wear on an easy non toxic day.

Years on and I still can't distinguish the notes properly. All I can say is that it is a bland scent in every sense: on swetness, on freshness and on fruits. It's not original, but better for my taste than other "Red" scents I owned and from which I can relate to, like Hugo Red, and some Banderas scents. I have a thing for Red Intense and now for this Red Rush, either by the brand iself, the bottle or both. Or because of all Ralph Lauren fragrances for Men, apart the original Green that once I liked, and perhaps the new Polo Blue Parfum, no other catchs my attention. A little edit today (06/28/2019), after a few more wearings: well, in the end, the overall feeling is that I ́m wearing some of the Banderas Seduction flankers. From the "Polo Red" line, the Intense version is my choice.

Polo Red Rush opens with a blast of sweetness, but a lighter and less syrupy-sweetness than Red Intense. The musky base mingles with the orange and pineapple top notes and gives an impression similar to Red Extreme, but lighter. It's similar, in the middle, to original Red, but the addition of apple plays nicely with the saffron, and keeps the fragrance "lighter." The base isn't as good as any of the previous Reds, and I find myself missing the strong amber and coffee notes that other Reds feature so prominently. First impression: I don't love it as much as i was hoping i would, from seeing the new notes that were added. I'm also not sure it's different enough from the existing Reds to be necessary. For what it's worth, I rank the previous Reds: Red Intense Red Red Extreme

Starts out soapy with added mint, citrus and a spicier base addition of patchouli and pink pepper, akin to Bleu De Chanel EDP and Versace Eros. By all means, it has the woody cranberry coffee DNA of the original, but only about 1/3rd of the scent is the original notes. Rather light, but enjoyable, and the scent takes Polo Red into a vein where it can compete with Versace Eros and Blue de Chanel and possibly even Invictus and Sauvage, however it's much lighter than all the others mentioned. Spray heavy with this one. Overall, the scent is great, but the longevity is about 4 1/2 hours on my skin and projection is low to moderate and shortlived before turning into a skin scent.

I love this fragrance for what it is. It smells great and performs well on my skin. I can wear it year round. The fragrance itself is a sweeter but not bubble gummy version of the original. Probably the sweetest fragrance I can tolerate! I can still detect the original Red DNA in the background. Because it’s a Polo flanker there is nothing natural or super original about this fragrance. Still a fantastic dumb reach! If you enjoy the popular sweeter fragrances you really should try this.... You may find it’s similar but different. To me, that makes it worth owning but not for retail. Always get Polos from the discounters! SYL

Meh.... Somewhat fruity aqueous opening. Nothing to write home about but pleasant enough opening. Same with dry down. I pick up mostly woods. Its pleasant...but so generic. There are so many fragrances that do what this does. Nothing to trigger one to run out and get a bottle. 5 hours longevity. Below average projection. If I saw this for $25...I would buy it just to have. Any more (which it is), it’s a huge pass for me. Nevertheless, go get yourself a sample and get your own opinion. 11/28/22 Update - found it for $23. Bought it.

okay scent when you get the weather right, but I feel like the time you can actually wear this is a small window. If it's too cold, it doesn't perform at all. Too hot? its cloying, overly fruity, smells like scented candle wax... Too humid? It smells a little musty, kind of headache inducing. I sold mine to a friend a long time ago, but I'd say polo red beats this in every way. I still have my polo red, and enjoy that when the time is right!

Nice scent, not something I'd buy a large bottle of because it's not really my type, but still a nice scent. It's strong and green. I sprayed it into the bend of my arm at Sephora in the early afternoon and still smelled it when I went to bed much later. It outlasted the 4 other scents I sprayed on except for Tom Ford Soleil Blanc. I give it 8.8/10.

I’m surprised that this has such a low rating, it’s good stuff for sure. Fresh and spicy, also love the mint. I think this could work year round, just spray more in the colder months. Also. It’s easy to find at discounters. I get 4-5 hours of longevity, so it’s not a beast mode fragrance, but it’s fine for daily wear.

I just got a sample at Belk. It's very nice. It's citrusy and fresh, a very nice fragrance. I will update it's longevity and performance. My initial impression is it is very good based on just it's scent. I'm pulling for Ralph Lauren on this one, I was disappointed in the last release.

I sampled this one. I really liked it but after wearing it for a while I realized that it smells very generic. It’s not overpowering, it’s fresh but just nothing special. This is good for maybe a younger guy, maybe a teen or someone in their early 20s.

Used this when I was in university. It had a very nice smell but didn't last much. I don't know how much it costed at the time since it was given to me as a present. I did enjoy wearing this perfume and did get a few compliments as well.

Very summer-ish feeling with mint, lemon and musk. It’s very wearable, feels very fresh. and stays remarkably long for such a freshie - I even washed my wrist, and could still smell the perfume few hours later.

I like it. Uplifting scent. Mainly mint and lavender. Then under those notes are fruits, citrus and woody notes. Spring and summer casual day scent.

Before the trolls start...this is a VERY good fragrance in the vein of 1 million Lucky. Bottle worthy. I caught a carded sample from Dillard's.

How is this different from the original....

This fragrance is the definition of "ok" to me. Somehow they found a way to balance all of the scent profiles in this without making hardly any of them stand out. The scent is like eating every flavor skittle. Its not offensive in any way, but no one note really "makes" the fragrance. I didn't even pick a season that this works best in because I seriously don't know. I think trying to lift the dark notes of original red with more fresh fruitiness didn't work, it's just sweeter now. Not even the mint really stands out too much. In its defense, it is a clearly fresher take on original red, I think this was marketed as a sport fragrance, but it definitely isn't. Scent- 4/10, a little greener and lighter but with nearly the exact same dry-down as original red Performance- 4/10, a bit below average on my skin for longevity Blind Buy- no. For the price of a 100ml, get 50ml of original red and 50ml of a frag that does fruity fresh way better, like Light Blue.

Mild fruit with undertones of wood and (I guess it's supposed to be) coffee. Not bad but on me the notes blur and end up smelling like scented candlewax. Everything about it is subdued, which may or may not be a bad thing for you. Short of bathing in it, you can't possibly offend anyone. BTW, at first the original Red is sharper and more up front with the youthful bubblegum fruitiness. Upon drydown, they're pretty close.

This is perhaps the most average fragrance I have ever tried. The scent profile is average. Performance is average. Presentation is average. It's like Ralph Lauren tried to make the most generic fragrance possible. You will not offend anyone, and you will probably get some compliments too, but you'll ultimately get bored of it very quickly. It exists, and that is all.

Its decent, and I think its " Polo Red" with more fruit. Someone told me it would smell good on me, so I bought it. It is not a special cologne and the scent is forgettable. I do not think it's worth a buy if you're on the fence about it, but it does smell better than " Polo Red". Rating 5/10 - Nothing special, nothing unique.

Starts off very fruity and stays fruity throughout ending with a coffee woody undertone, personally it’s just a fruitier version of polo red. Smells like a air freshener tbh, all my friends said it smelt like a air freshener, mid fragrance 5/10 DO NOT BLIND BUY

Inoffensive, generic and boring. Very accurately someone noticed the resemblance to 212 vip CH, which means this one is not particularly interesting either. 6/10

WEAK. Don't bother. Unfortunately, the quality and sillage of Ralph Lauren Cologne is NOTHING like it was in the 80's and 90's. Bought from Jomashop.

( Going off a sample) To my nose this was just a quick money grab and in a nutshell this a more sweet,slightly stronger,flatter version of Polo Red. It smells as if you had a bottle of Polo Red and let it out in the sun for too long. It’s a definite pass for me ! Performance was 4-6 hours with good projection for an hour and then just a scent bubble after that but a decent scent bubble though. Overall rating —6.5 outof 10 ! Ok scent but if your going to do a flanker make it different enough to be relevant or at least if the scent is going to be close than make an improved composition. I highly prefer the OG over this. Sidenote— Fiancee thought it was ok but it would be better if the sweetness was toned down. She did advise me NOT to buy this.lol

I didn't like how they added the mint and musk on this one, it kills the sweet vibe making it pungent, not pleasant to smell on the opening. If you like that Versace Eros or Le Male Superman pungent mint, then Red Intense might be for you. Now the drydown comes very fast and is extremely similar to the OG Polo Red but less potent and less complex. So all in all, the Intense opens more pungent and with more presence, but dies faster and the drydown is worse. I'd be pissed off if I had blind bought a bottle of this, a couple of mL is enough to convince anyone that this is not worth the money considering alternatives.

TOO FRUITY! So disappointed because the key notes look so promising I had high expectation for this one. Turns out it's just sweet and fruity (which I'm not a fan of),and a faint hint of mint. That's it. Overall, it's just sweet & fruity. Boring and generic. Don't waste your money! (thanks god i only bought a sample)

No one would ever think that this smells expensive. It smells like a drugstore cologne aisle circa 1995. I admit that I am not a Polo fragrance fan, but I really did approach this one with an open mind. I was ready for them to make something modern and trendsetting, and they failed.

This is just a boring fragrance, ive smelt something very similar before but cant remember the name. Sweet floral fragrance that actually lasts pretty well, lasted 10 hours on me but its a skin scent so zero sillage

I don't notice any difference between this and polo red. IMO, they are one and the same. It's gone way too quickly. Probably the worst and most redundant Polo release ever. I'm done with POLO scents.

Boring and weak. Lasts like 3 hours. So much other fragrances you can spend your money on.

Bought a 30ml of this by mistake thinking it was polo red - wanted to try out the red berry and coffee vibe. Not sure how similar the two are, but I didn’t enjoy this at all. There’s a dusty-mustiness about it - like carton of warm fruit juice that’s been left out and gone off. The mid/base is a combination of heavy woody herbal notes and bitter coffee. I think a combination of any 2 of the 3 would stand a much better chance of making sense, but altogether it comes across a harsh bitter-sweet mess. After an hour or so it settles down but is still a bit rough and over-complicated. It lacks the elegance and balance of polo black. Having tried this a few times, I just find it doesn’t work for me. Update: it’s growing on me - it still comes across as a bit abrasive, but less than at first - the fruitiness is coming through a bit more and I’m finding it’s actually quite wearable now. I’m not the biggest fan of pineapple and I’m still wishing I’d got the original, but this is nice for mixing things up a bit!

First Pass - Very citrus. Lemon? Bergamot? Hints of berry. A little musk, a little deodorant 2 Hours Later - Somehow, even more citrus. Another note, lavender? A little floral now, still a little musky 4 Hours Later - Citrus is pungent, sharp as a tack. Maybe a touch sweeter now, like orange? Faint musk and floral notes persist in the background Overall - This flanker blends the original red with an aquatic, “blue” persona. The result is an extremely citrus, fresh-forward profile, that little reminds me of the OG. Notably, the woody backbone and sweet, powdery vanilla finish are completely absent from this iteration I felt Polo Red (which I have reviewed separately) lacked direction. Red Rush knows exactly what it wants to be, and I think it benefits from the clarity. If you’re seeking a twist to your fresh scent lineup, this could be down your alley. I typically eschew scents of the blue persuasion ***Scents, like tastes, are subjective. Wear what you like***

Polo Red Rush appeared in the Brazilian market last month, with a super launching event that included the presence of actor Ansel Elgort, who was the face of the advertising campaign. It is the third flanker of the Red line, continuing the story started with the launch of the EDT version in 2013, followed by the Intense version in 2015 and the Extreme version in 2017. But it is worth remembering that its launch in the international market took place in 2018, although we are in the middle of 2019. The fragrance respects the DNA of the line while maintaining the notes of grapefruit, lemon, saffron, lavender, and coffee, and the result brings the similarity at different times. However, the need for a more vibrant, daytime look, made the composition gain notes of mint, red mandarin, and pineapple. On the official website of the brand on the internet, the composition appears as follows: red mandarin, lemon, grapefruit and pineapple, in the head; Red saffron, orange blossom absolute, spearmint, red apple accord and lavender, in the body; Red coffee accord, musk and cedar, in the base. On the skin, the fragrance of Polo Red Rush seems a little disorganized, but it is that lack of organization that many people can live with and always find what they need if you know what I mean. The output is very cool and juicy, to the point of being sparkling and energetic. A positive point for the red mandarin, which only came to add to the fruity start already known in the other fragrances of the line. In a few minutes, the mint is also noticed with much evidence, reinforcing the freshness and the daytime aspect which, in my opinion, was one of the main (if not the main) objectives of this creation. However, it is at this very moment that I feel a battle between the notes and something seems to get out of control. The initial freshness begins to struggle with the sweet fruity nuances of the apple and pineapple, bringing a feeling of poor evolution as if the fragrance jumped in a matter of minutes from day to night. It's as if you start the day with a fresh fragrance and suddenly realize that it was better to wear it for the ballads. I miss the bittersweet facet of the cranberry and the coffee nuance, most noticeable in earlier versions. In addition, we are talking about five years of difference (from the original version) in a market that presents news every week. And in this regard, to insert the pineapple was somewhat retrograde, not to say unnecessary, because it is an ingredient that has already been widely used in other fragrances, including from competing brands. The good news for anyone looking for performance and praise is that Polo Red Rush raised some curious doubts and compliments from others about what fragrance I was wearing, not just once, but almost every time I wore it. And unlike what I've read, I do not find it disappointing in terms of durability. Quite the opposite! It is still possible to smell it at the end of the day, even close to the skin, and at the time of the bath, with the heat of the water. The bottle retained its visual identity, but won a sports outfit, exploring the silver and red colors. Also, note that the spray is soft and sprinkles a soft cloud on the skin. To conclude, I can say that I consider Polo Red Rush pleasant, but it seems to have been released a lot of time later than it should, losing the moment of this segment, which came strong in 2016.

Polo Red Rush is an aromatic fruity woods. The fragrance begins with a rush of fresh synthetics—and a fresh, fruity sweet essence that settles into something extremely identical to the reformulated version of Versace Eros. I do think there is a faint bit of the Polo Red DNA underneath (the red cedar accord), but it's pretty faint, and only noticeable enough to mention. It doesn't really feel like a Polo Red flanker at all. It just feels like an off-brand impression of an already terribly butchered reformulated Versace Eros. If you spray a rush of it on, you can get a really nice glimpse of the sweet apple and fresh mint accord. It is very nice. I get a touch of green apple in there as well. Really uplifting aroma—which I think says a lot—as I've become rather desensitized to a lot of typical stuff. I guess this neat little trick is another ploy for Ralph Lauren to solicit some private formula of his. And although I must say it's nice, it still doesn't really seem like it has [that thing] that you would buy a private formula for. So it's odd to me that he would choose to market it this way. Possibly he's offering it at lower luxury price point. But then—why not just capture the 99% with enduring sales? Maybe this was his son's idea. In any case, I don't think this fragrance is going to speak much for anyone knee-deep in the game. If you're new to the fragrance world though, this is likely going to be a whole different experience for you.

My local Dillard's is offering free samples of this in anticipation of its release in August. The opening is promising and fresh, adding a new (albeit short-lived) dimension to the original Polo Red. The top notes last all of about 5 minutes on my skin before retreating into the familiar sweet and fruity drydown of its predecessors. The differences are barely noticeable: I detect a touch of pineapple in place of the coffee note. This is a pleasant and thoroughly accessible fragrance overall, but would be a redundant purchase for anyone who already owns either the original or Intense versions. It's different enough from the Extreme version, but honestly I'm not sure where they were going with this. For my part, I'm at least grateful that the mandarins at Ralph Lauren have thus far been merciful enough to spare us from an ambroxan bomb.
