Polo Ultra Blue

Polo Ultra Blue opens with a moderate projection of citrus and spicy accords. The lemon, citron, and lemon verbena combine their citrus notes, they feel natural, sharp, and very pleasant; the lemon verbena has also a green herbal touch. The basil adds a spicy and green fragrance that blends well with the citrus notes. The sharpness of the citrus notes is short-lived, they start fading quickly leaving the basil and lemon verbena at the top. The mineral notes and ambertonic come across with a soft scent evocative of metal cutlery with an ambroxan accord. As the fragrance commences to dry-don, a soft white musk accord develops. The woodsy and salt notes are there just to support and add some depth but are not prominent. The most noticeable change from the opening to the dry-down is the significant dissipation of the lemon and citron notes, which are replaced by a white musk accord which develops towards the dry-down. Once Ralph Lauren Polo Ultra Blue has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a moderate projection, lemon verbena, basil, and white musk fragrance with salty and soft woody accords. The fragrance feels airy, clean, diurnal, slightly green, inviting, masculine, modern, musky, oceanic, refreshing, sporty, white, versatile, and very pleasant. RECOMMENDATION: Ralph Lauren Polo Ultra Blue is a great scent but performance could be better. It can be found for about discounted for about $40. If you need a versatile fragrance that can be worn for any occasion during the warmer months, this is for you. BLIND-BUY: Yes, but only if you are familiar with its main notes. **EDIT:** I wore this back in September for a Tough Mudder 10k. It was about 55 degrees Fahrenheit. I chose a couple sprays of this for it's unobtrusive low-profile. I was jogging for 3 hours, fell into multiple pools of cold and dirty water, and crawled through mud up to my shoulders at times. This scent lasted through all of that, a quick post-marathon cold shower, AND still kept giving off aroma later that night. It's a fresh, light, super-sporty scent. But don't be fooled! Just like a runner, it endures through any challenge it faces. --------------------------------- As basic as it is, this is one of my absolute favorite Summertime fragrances. It smells like a salty lemon with a tinge of metallic coldness imparted by the mineral notes. It's fantastic in very high-heat situations because it's not thick, it's not challenging. It's just fresh, citric, slightly salty, and chilling. Seriously, it makes the air around me smell brisk and takes my mind to images of coastal Mediterranean waters frozen over. If that wasn't American enough for you, here's a food/drink analogy: a cold limoncello--dripping with condensation--complete with salt around the rim. Not only refreshing in scent, it's also refreshing in style; Ultra Blue is a breath of cold, crisp air when compared to the common composition of summer-oriented fragrances rife with "sea notes" and "marine notes" etc. Many of these scents come across to me as the smell of fishy, seaweed-laden ocean waters crashing upon drab, rocky beaches. They smell heavy, sour, and somewhat industrial. Some even smell like rotten eggs. Ultra Blue goes for simple salt accord without any oceanic gimmicks, leaving it smelling so much cleaner and lighter than it's counterparts, while somehow doing a better job at instilling a coastal feel. Something that amazes me about this is that a lot of descriptors I'd use for Ultra Blue--"sharp", "salty", "thin", "metallic"--are normally ones I'd use to criticize a fragrance for, but Ultra Blue spins all of these into major positives which allow it to cut through the hot, humid air without piercing your nasal passages.. Performance is well enough--I wouldn't say projection/sillage is very strong but it's present and does push off skin. Longevity is better than most give it credit for. I smelled it on myself a good 7-8 hours into my 12-hour shift at work on a recent 85+ degree day. However, Ultra Blue requires heat--especially body heat and sweat--to be continually detectable. It would seem to die down and be gone for a few hours, then as soon as I'd break a sweat while laboring away, I'd be swept away by that cold, mineralic water again.

This is pretty non-offensive and will scratch an itch if you grew up admiring aquatic or blue fragrances that can sting the nostrils and invigorate you with a "cool, fresh, clean" feeling. If you are one who leans into mineral scents, this is a very decent cheapie that swan dives right into the realm head-first. There is nothing natural about this, nor is there many natural chemicals in most fragrances these days. From the first spray the citron is present: wet, bright and full of life. A realistic salt and mineral accord of aroma chemicals settles into a fantastic skin musk, similar to the freshness of Ghost in the Shell. I got this because I wanted something that I could smell again and again with no issues, and it started as a mystery sample vial that I kept dumb-reaching for time after time. I love it !!

Just received it early and opened it up. Bottle has a slight change in the shape and I could add that the color of the bottle.....transparent pretty much sums up the fragrance. Initially it starts as one of the best dryer sheets I’ve ever smelled and a skin scent It’s also one of the safest fragrances I’ve come across thus far. Its pretty nice. I enjoy it and would refer to it as a fragrance you could wear to take a break from your fragrances.....ie Serge Lutens l’eau. Same clean vibe. Does not smell alike by the way Its very nice and I could see it being unisex it’s certainly neutral and void of much of what I’ve encountered in the fragrance market. Be well

Polo Ultra Blue is a citrus, aromatic and marine fragrance. Its opening is fresh, citrus and some between salty and ozonic, I perceive also some fruity like mango. After a pair of hours, it stays an aroma marine and musky with a little touch of mineral chord. This fragrance es perfect for summer or hot spring days, daytime activities, casual outings or at school. I bought a tester to give to my son and the longevity is very good at least 8 hrs. with good sillage first two or three hours. It really surprises me, because I tested it when it was launched, and the longevity had been of 5 hrs., but I'm happy for my son, because he enjoys it a lot
