Ralph Cool

My sweet little Ralph Lauren Cool! I have great memories associated with this lil' fragrance. I fell in love with it in High School when my best friend wore this. On her the delicious florals and especially the lily of the valley came through and it left a soft, fresh-sweet and yummy trail surrounding her. I instantly knew I had to buy it for myself. On me it does smell good (after the synthetic opening dries down), but it does not smell as fantastic on me as it did on my friend. She's a blonde, I'm a brunette..don't know if that has anything to do with it, but we just have different chemistry. To be completely honest, what R.L. Cool did for my best friend is the most amazing perfume I have ever smelt (not lying) and I've smelled alot through the years. But no frag has made my senses so awake and wanting more of a scent than R.L. cool on my friend. It's strange to admit that, as "Cool" isn't really of the same quality as an EdP or a regular EdT because of the summer l'eau feel to it. But my God, this scent was a goddess on her, like magic! Guys were almost eating her up. I hope I find something that is this good on me.

This was one of my favorite perfumes throughout high school along with RL hot then later rocks was a big favorite too. I always received so many compliments from males and females while wearing this and whenever I smell it it brings me back sadly I had two full back up bottles 3.4 oz and went to smell and both are slightly rancid, I’m so so sad!!! They were both in sets with lotion and shower gel and out of everything the shower gel is still good. I’ve been using it here and there for a nostalgic bath or shower. But please Ralph Lauren bring back cool hot rocks and even love and fresh! PLEASE! I need to beg Escada to bring back some more of their older summer limited editions too. It’s too cruel to make something LE that can go bad within ten years even when stored well!

This is my all time favorite perfume! I miss it so much and would love to see it back in stores someday. I can't count how many people I knew in the early 2000's that started wearing it after asking me what I was wearing, even my brother asked what it was so he could purchase for his fiance. I have been craving that smell for so long now, and was in shock when I recently went to my local five and below in the mall, and came across a cheap perfume that smelled almost exactly like it! I purchased a few bottles, and while I'm happy to have a dupe, I must say it is rather annoying to have to apply it so often throughout the day since it completely wears off so soon. But for only 5 bucks, I guess I can't complain!

i am so disappointed they discontinued this!!!!!!!!!!! i ran out not too long ago, went to buy more and my heart dropped when i was informed it had been discontinued... i proceeded to try and find a bottle online or at a rl outlet store, in hopes that they still had a bottle hiding somewhere, but that was fruitless... i recall seeing this at tjmaxx a while back, passing it up because i still had half a bottle left... boy am i kicking myself right now for not stocking up... i will never not stock up on my favorite perfume again, in fear that it will be discontinued :( well played corporations, well played. but on a positive note, i still have some of the lotion to reminisce :)

@TeacupBreaker. The reason why this smells alcoholic is because you have most likely got an aged bottle of this otherwise cheerful fragrance. Sadly with time some fragrances deteriorate. Some take a sharp alcoholic turn while others begin to smell like fenugreek! I managed to get a (genuine) bottle of this recently and I got nuances of both and was ultimately disappointed! Back in the day this fragrance smelled divine and it was completely different from the rest. It had the freshest and most realistic cucumber and watermelon notes one could ever know of. Maybe we should campaign to bring fragrances (such as this) right back and experience them in their former glory!

I completely disagree with one reviewer who said you can find scents like this for a lot cheaper (I would like to know which ones if there are any). This was the most unique, standalone scent out there never to be replicated in history. In which other fragrance would you find a blend of watermelon, honeysuckle and vetiver ? I have yet to find a fragrance that smells close to this bright pink gem. I sincerely hope they relaunch this with the same smell and bottle. Almost everyone who owned this scent misses it a lot and it is even more diffucult to find authentic bottles of it on ebay!

i had the original and absolutely loved it - i'm sad though because a few years later, i pulled it back out and it just straight up smelled like cough syrup and alcohol :( at its prime it was incredible, my old signature scent. the watermelon really came out on my skin, very yummy! edit - this is crazy! was trying to get rid of a bad smell in the house, so i used some of this as air freshener. at first it smelled terrible... but after about 15 mins, the entire room smelled like honeysuckle!!! so beautiful. 24hrs later, the honeysuckle scent is still in the air!

Discontinued for awhile. I actually have never owned a true RL bottle of Cool, but rather have owned great dupe oils. I lived in this scent summer of 2004. Great dupes of Cool are still readily available. Cool is yup...cool. really melon heavy and refreshing. As I've written before I'm not a watermelon lover, however, I can smell and enjoy it in this. The fragrance is beautiful on the dry down, musky, lily, fruity. Just great for a hot day. Reminds me somewhat of Victoria's Secret discontinued Tranquil Breezes.

This is so nostalgic for me... I wish i still had it. My babysitter used to wear it, and then my grandmother got it for me for my birthday and I loved wearing it because it reminded me of my childhood and summertime with my babysitter who I loved!! I tucked it away for a while and then when I brought it back out, I was getting so many compliments left and right until I ran out... I'm so sad it's discontinued, but it's truly one of my favorites. Sweet and fresh!

A wonderful and unique fruity/floral/green scent that has (very) sadly been discontinued for some time. I have been craving this scent a lot lately and I have yet to search for a fragrance that smells similar to this. Why do fragrance houses have to discontinue the best, most divine and unique scents? The Big Pony collection is vastly inferior to the Ralph Hot/Cool/Rocks/Wild collection. Shame on the house of Ralph Lauren! PLEASE BRING THIS BEAUTY BACK!!!!!!!!

I love this perfume. It was the second Ralph Lauren perfume I owned and is still definitely one of my favorites today. I think it's more floral than fruity. It's unique smelling. I have owned lots of perfumes, and it doesn't smell like anything else I have ever purchased. It's best worn on a summer day. Longevity is 8+ hours on me, and the bottle I own is 10+ years old (purchased at Belk). I would definitely like to see this fragrance back on the market.

Otro de los frescos que me encantaban, como dicen, ya descontinuado. Este lo usaba intercambiándolo con el be delicious, y como ven comparten algunas notas. Este era frescor, al 100%, como oler pepino, kiwi y sandia pero el jugo; la verdad como combinación puede sonar rara, pero estaba muy bien realizado; tenía cierto toque maderoso, pero leve. Su duración era excelente, fácil las 10 horas y su estela moderada, es un buen recuerdo para mi.

I have a love and hate relationship with this one. When I first got it, I hated it because it smells grassy and peppery on me. Totally different than what I tried in the department store and kept it aside for years. Strange enough, now I do get the juicy watermelon, kiwi, peach note with a smooth, creamy florals and musk. Yummy and crisp! They always have to discontinue or reformulate the good stuff don't they? Sigh.

Oh. My. God. I was cleaning out my closet and I can’t believe I found a half full bottle of this covered in dust. I sprayed it and my teenage years came flooding back to me. I can’t even describe it. If “early 2000s” were a note, it would be this. It’s so... awful? And weird? And yet incredible? I think you had to be there for this fragrance or it must seem a complete and utterly wild fruity mess.

The nostalgia is STRONG with this one. This was my signature scent when I was in high school. It was quite sweet, but mostly read fresh and aquatic than anything else - kind of like you just took a shower after jumping in a swimming pool. I simply adore this! I was at a local Perfume Hut in the mall today and the SA sprayed this on a card for me to smell. I was definitely taken back to when I first wore this in 2004. Of course, back then the big bottle was $65.00 and now it ranges anywhere from $99.00- $145.00 USD. It's quite ridiculous how people can charge so much even though I do really love this.

The scent of my youth! I wore this in my late teens. Fresh, feminine, fruity, a little tropical. The right amount of strength in this one, lasts all day without being overbearing. Loved it but I have moved on to bolder, more sultry fragrances like classique X, 212 sexy and angel.

I got the 100mls of this many years ago, when i found out its not available anymore, whats left of it is now reserved for special occassions. Smells so beautiful and a little goes a long way. If i find this again i will definately buy again.

This is a beautiful summer fragrance smells like a day at the beach top note of watermelon mouthwatering and sweet and a delight to the senses one of my favourites especially when you live downunder where it is hot

I love the watermelon in this! I will tell you this, sealed or not, don't buy a bottle off of eBay. These bottles are rancid at this point.

Bright, fresh, fruity, juicy, sweet, aquatic, refreshing, happy, and fun. I really love the sweet and juicy watermelon and nectarine notes paired with the fresh and watery cucumber. The Jasmine, honeysuckle, and Lily of the valley give this a nice floral and feminine touch. It’s sweet and juicy while also being refreshing and not at all cloying. Such a nostalgic scent! I wore this, the original Ralph (blue bottle), and Tommy Hilfiger Freedom a ton during my teens to mid 20s and still wear them occasionally to this day! I just recently rediscovered my bottle of Ralph Cool along with several other older fragrances (lots of much loved VS from around 2002-2016!) and it was such an exciting and nostalgic experience! I was thrilled to discover that they were all still good! I’ve always gotten great performance with Ralph Cool. The longevity is really good, it lasts throughout the entire day. The projection is nice too, it radiates out about an arm’s length from me.

This is the first perfume i have had in my life, it is hard to forget its smell even it has been discontinued for long ages. Though the scent is quite alcoholic and has poor longevity on my skin, it still captures my heart. I wore this in youth age(probably junior secondary) and met my first love in summer vacation. I am quite thankful to my aunt who gave me this bottle at that time. The scent is bright, fresh, cool and fruity, just like my teenage time. Now i have more collections from classic brands such as Dior, Coco and Serge Lutens, then i knew that the quality of Ralph Cool is quite unstable and it smells too fresh/fruity for my age now, yet this scent is still my treasure as it reminds me of my best summer and i will never get nasty on it. Thank you David Apel and Pierre Negrin!!

I like Ralph Cool much better than Ralph Hot which developes a strong tea note on me. With Cool the opening notes showcase the watermelon with a touch of kiwi, and a coolness from the cucumber. It may not be the cucumber causing it, but throughout I can smell what makes me think of cutting one and the way the rind smells. The flowers are noticeable for the middle then seem to fade in the drydown, the watermelon note stays throughout. It's pleasant, fresh, not overly sweet, and a tiny bit green. For me though, the best Ralph is still Ralph Rocks.

A few years ago, I sold most of my old Ralph Lauren fragrances including the Hot, Rocks, and Wild version in this series. I could not remember if I sold this one or not but I checked and it is still in my closet. This is a fragrance I wore in my early 20's, partying days. I see why it is called Cool because it has a cool cucumber scent. My bottle is about 3/4 full but sadly, I think I'm going to sell this one as well. I have the original Ralph from this series in the blue bottle I'm keeping along with my ride or die Polo Sport.

I am sad that Ralph Cool was discontinued... I liked it much better than Hot, which was just too coconuty and spicy for my liking. Ralph Cool is a fresh, fruity scent that is just perfect for summer. What I really like is that Cool isn't too fruity... the cucumber and woodsy notes really tone down the watermelon and kiwi so it isn't too sweet. I am not sure why people are referencing a pepper note... I am not getting this at all and it isn't listed as a note. Ralph Cool is easy to wear and and very breezy- I love it!

Firstly, let me tell you that I don’t particularly like ozonic and aquatic fragrances. I’m definitely more of a oud/Amber/spicy fan and to say that I’ve lots of these types of fragrance is an understatement. Secondly, I like this scent very much. I know, I should hate it, shouldn’t I? Nope, I really like it. It reminds me of springtime and I will wear it at that time of year and also summertime because I think it’ll perform better than in winter.

This smells very fresh, I would not buy it again though, because you could find scents like this for a lot cheaper. A bit too young smelling for my liking, I like more masculine sensual smells. I had it in middle school and it was a good scent for that age. It also fit the American Eagle aesthetic that was very in at the time. If I remember correctly, Britney Spears's Island Fantasy smells very similar.

this smells like a fruit pop! sweet and fruity! My mouth watered when I smelled this perfume. I personally don't think I would like to smell like something I would eat in the summer time but i would not at all mind smelling it on someone else! Very yummy!

I know this is a floral fruity, but for me its the woody notes I remember. Not nearly as sweet and cloying as "Ralph Wild", I think "Ralph Cool" would actually make a fairly decent work scent.

This is gorgeous. A beautiful watermelon fragrance. It’s so summery and it is juicy/sweet but not cloying. It just smells like eating a perfectly ripe watermelon in the summertime!

RALPH COOL does not seem cooler to me than RALPH, but that quibble aside, this, the first RALPH flanker, opens with a brief squirt of cucumber-fruitiness before moving immediately to a honeysuckle-heavy middle stage with lily of the valley also detectably present. This part of the journey I like a lot, as it evokes memories of walks down paths flanked with freshly bloomed honeysuckle, hanging down from the branches of large shrubs so as to create an intoxicating blanket of natural perfume. Unfortunately, RALPH COOL next morphs to a somewhat chemically drydown very similar to that of RALPH (also D&G IMPERATRICE, also Victoria's Secret SEXY LITTLE THING...), which I do not particularly like. It somehow grows stronger and stronger and ultimately requires a scrubbing away.

Well,what to say about this?? It starts out with a heavy doze of alcohol(a big sneezewarning!)that goes away rather quickly. I can feel some kind of sweet smell but it isn ́t fruity, foody, floral or even oriental. No, it ́s artificial and strange and maybe a little bit watery. Then the pepper kicks in bad time and I no longer have to wonder if this is a keeper or not. I ́m sorry to say it...but two thumbs down!

Martu ... RL Cool smells very similar to Exotic Passionfruit Mary Kay. RL is more airy but they both smell fruity sweet, clean, and nice. I personally prefer Exotic Passionfruit Mary Kay. I found RL Cool to be too ozonic and it triggered me to have a headache.

It's very strange, but on me it starts off very peppery and when it dries down, it still retains that peppery note. The only fruit I can smell is lime. I still like it though. Funny thing chemistry.

Uuuuuuuuuuuuughhh!! I have never ever done this before, but I had to wash this off my wrist after 5 minutes! It smells like urine! It's disgusting!

A very fresh scent. Some say watermelon. I can feel that too. But the staying power...it was 20 min ago that I sprayed and I sprayed alot, and I can hardly smell it now. I have body oil on my skin, to moisture. Is that bad to perfume? Maybe I should try body lotion instead. I don't know if my skin chemistry suddenly changed due to stress in my life, 'cause normally fragrances don't disappear like this on my skin. But I've tried others lately and they don't disappear. Does anyone else experience lack of staying power with Ralph Cool? I even sprayed up in the air, right above me, so the drops would fall down on my hair. Can't feel it. I guess I have to spray directly into my hair. When I buy perfume, I want to be able to smell it myself. That's very important to me. I mean, if I like a perfume and then can't smell it, what's the point? It doesn't matter if others can smell it on me, if I can't smell it myself. Smelling perfume that I like, on my body, makes me happy during the day. So why do you leave me, Ralph Cool? I say you're not cool for leaving me. LOL ;-)

I bought this because I found the notes intriguing and I think because it was rare. Before I start, I should say that I generally do not go for ozonic, watery or watered-down scents. I really like the bright, see-through colouring of the packagin g and the bottle is easy to hold and use. I get softly-peppered wood shavings, something ever so slightly reminiscent of menthol - even though there’s none in it as AFAIK and it’s more like a really, really weak sensation of menthol than anything else - with a smidgen of very watered down watermelon (I couldn’t put my finger on that woody smell, so thank you Ecmaddox!). Reminds me a little bit of – wait for it – The Body Shop’s Watermelon & Eucalyptus showergel. I truly cannot decide whether I like this or not. I think I’ll sell this, whatever the case... not fair of me to hog someone’s nostalgia. It's all but gone after 5 hours on me

I wore this in my 20's sometime around 2005. I remember my husband and I were only dating at that time and he was obsessed with the fruity juicy scent of Cool. He loved it so much he got an oil dupe of it from the flea market. Just this summer, I came across a bottle on our Norwegian Cruise line ship. It was $80 and if I knew then what I know now, I probably would've bought it. So if you're cruising anytime soon, look for it in the cruise shops. Although, buying it would've only been for nostalgia as this fragrance is a bit too fruity and immature for my daily wear. I prefer something more complex nowadays, but it's still a nice scent. Anyone know any similar scents available now?

I wanted to like this - being a huge fan of Lauren and Safari and of course the perenial preppy male elixr of Polo, but this stuff was horrible. I know that it was meant to be light, summery and fun. Fruity and bright. instead it was synthetic, sticky, and horrible. I even enjoy artificial watermelon candy scent - like jolly ranchers, but that wasn't here at all. Reminded me of the medicated dog shampoo my vet uses at the animal clinic. I will, I promise, try it one more time, just because the man who charmed me with the heavy white flowers of Lauren can't really have made this stinky mess, can he?

This one is definitely refreshing, but I thought it could be even more without the lily-of-the-valey note. Actually, I thought it'd smell more like cucumber pulp and watermelon. I do smell the watermelon, but hardly detect the cucumber. I think I would have emphased the perfume on cucumber and took off the grassy notes and some flowers. It is a very nice fragrance though, very refreshing, Young and playful. I truly like it and it is definitely a mood lifter. I can say that this is the mischievous version of Ralph rock. A big big big like, very very close to a love.
