Romance Silver

I'm shocked that no one has compared this to Ralph Lauren's Purple Label or Bond No. 9's Bleecker Street. I've owned both of the aforementioned scents and received a pretty hefty sample of Romance Silver today. The first few seconds (3-5 at the most) of the application yield a very distinctive vodka note that completely vanishes and reveals a composition that smells nearly identical to Purple Label. Suffice it to say that Romance Silver is still with us albeit in a different bottle. In Romance Silver, the violet is a bit less pronounced while the woody notes linger distinctly at the forefront. Any other differences between the two are marginal or nonexistent to my nose. Like a great and beloved public official leaving office and passing the torch to another, Romance Silver is a beautiful scent no doubt, but Purple Label does the job just the same. Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 6/10 Sillage: 5/10

Was bought this by an ex girlfriend around 10 years ago.. and it was nice and fresh. Recently wondered if it was still available as I hadn't seen it around for years. Found out it's now discontinued, but managed to find some new, old stock on eBay. Bought a 50ml (which comes in a surprisingly small box).. Despite being in a new shrink wrapped box, I sprayed and there is little to no sillage.. small remnants of that awesome fragrance.. but I'd literally have to use 25ml just for me to smell it without putting my nose into my neck. I don't remember it being this faint, so I'm guessing it's the case of being old units. Such a shame, the smell brings back a lot of memories, and really is amazing. Gone forever now though.

To mirror what others have been saying about this, it is underrated. It was the first ever proper fragrance I ever bought and I have very fond memories of it. I think I was naive after getting this that if you spent a little money on a smell they would all be rather decent like this. I bought it because I went into a shop asked the girl what her favourite EDT was at the moment and she really liked it and I tried it. There are very fragrances I've had since where I've had a girlfriend who just wanted to constantly snuggle their nose into my neck when we were out and about just so they could smell it. I would recommend this for anyone to at least try and see if they like it.

This is heaven in a bottle and the scent of my youth. I have over 400 fragrances in my collection but this will always have a special place for me. I have yet to smell a fragrance similar to this so if your bottle runs out and you can't find a replacement on eBay and/or unwilling to pay the steep price, you're pretty much SOL. I have Bleeker St. Bond No. 9. People are delusional if they think that smells anything like this. Ralph Lauren has to realize that this is one of the best juices they've came up with and should bring this back, even if it's for a limited release. If there's a petition for it, I will be the first to sign it.

Overall unique. Niche style with its own DNA. Great to wear. A great gentlemen fragrance. Not necessarily a scent used by larger crowds. Complimented many times. A pity it doesn't#t exist - might be potentially a hint towards Clone houses to get this DNA back. This scent needs to come back in a big way. I’m not saying you should throw down whatever ppl are asking for it on eBay but I think the fragrance world needs this one to come back. How good could it be you ask? Imagine the smokiness of Aventus, take out all the sweetness from the pineapple and replace it with a bright, tart, refreshing lemon (I know that the listed citrus note is tangerine but my nose only picks up lemon). Yes. It is THAT good. This, Romance and Purple Label were ahead of their time and they all need to come back!

They need to bring this back. Nothing, absolutely nothing, smells like it. I've tried several "inspired" dupes to no avail. Ralph! Hey, Ralph! Are you listening! Make more of this! (FWIW, this doesn't smell anything like Bentley Black. To me, anyway.) This was my favorite cologne when I was in college. My dad gave me this it came with an aftershave and a pouch. I remember using the after-shave as a splash cologne because I really liked the smell. I also remember smelling a strong "alcohol" scent probably because of the vodka, and this had a metallic scent on my skin.

Romance Silver is a very underrated fragrance from the Ralph Lauren house. I got a 1.7 oz as a blind buy a few yrs from Walgreens and i got my 40 bucks worth. Very sophisticated and elegant yet modern at the same time. Perfect for when u wanna impress that lady you wanna get it on with

I owned a bottle of this way back when. When I found it was discontinued I was a bit disappointed that is until recently I came across Eau De Memo. When the sales associate sprayed it on the sample card it definitely reminded me of RRS. Needless to say I added it to my collection.

Loved LOVED this fragrance back in the day. Was one of the few repeat purchases I have made. I wish I could smell it now to see what my thoughts are now...if it smells as good as the memories I have of it...or if my now more distinguished nose would find it lacking.

It smells great,kindda like Gucci Gucci,the smell of violet is nice,very gentle,attractive,soft,love it so much! I'm pretty sure that I will buy this one again. but it seems that it doesnt last long on my skin,however it lasts very long on test paper.pity.

Does anyone know anything similar to this? My bottle ran out 5 years ago but I'd love to get something in this vein. I don't think either Bleacker Street or MBI smell too much like it but in open to suggestions.

Blind buy by my mum when she went to NYC. Amazing fragrance. Managed to get through 4 or 5 100ml bottles before being discontinued. Really, really wish this was still around.

Romance Silver is much better then the original but i only have a lil left .

I have owned this fragrance for a few years, and unfortunately you do get what you pay for. This is one of the fragrances which got me interested in discovering others. I believe that this fragrance is predictable. Albeit it is a nice citrus blend that goes a bit into a tea and further a darker woodier scent, this is run-of the mill, and un-eventful. I however, would have never said this two years back.

This was definitely a lovely fragrance. Although, for my money, I would just stick with the original Romance. season: Colder weather would benefit more occasion:casual,business,night out etc. sprays:2-4 scent:8/10 longevity:7/10 projection:7/10 sillage:6/10 versatility:8/10 overall:38/50

Very sophisticated, smells like there is quite a bit going on. I usually wear at night time. Compliment getter, both sexes. Found my 1.7 at a TJ Maxx, which I guess they were at about a year ago or so. Not a everyday type, at least for myself. Does resemble Ungaro Man...

I’ve had this fragrance since it’s release in 2005. I’ve always felt it’s a syrupy sweet fragrance. I don’t seem to get the cypress and Vodka notes mentioned here. It’s still a solid unique fragrance though.

The other virson(orignal) is Far to better and my choice,this one very poor sillage and almost zero longevity with ordinary smell,it is a complete blunder by Ralph Lauren after the great succcess of THE ORIGINAL Virson ...This one fr me is 3 outta 10.

Finally got another bottle of this. Yes I ponied up and paid the piper, but well worth it. This was indeed ahead of its time. I own this and the original and I love them both equally. Where original romance was made for the warmer weather, this one does best in the cold (but is incredibly versatile). I am a sucker for the note of cypress and it is done so incredibly well. Citrus, cypress and vodka note settle in to a modest sweetness with musk. This just grabs your attention and I cannot stop sniffing my arm or wrist when I wear it. This feels like a predecessor in some ways to aventus, but I find this to remind of of gucci by gucci. Nice utilization of violet as well. I wish they would just bring this and the original romance back as well as polo crest and polo modern reserve. I am lucky enough to have hunted all of these down, but it was not easy, nor cheap.

Used to wear this all the time back in college. It’s a shame it got discontinued. Closest thing I have found is Bentley Black. The openings are REALLY close, though they diverge in the dry down. Bentley doesn’t last as long as this did either, but it’s a safe overspray. Would love for RL to bring this back, or some kind of modern take on that DNA, especially since they still sell the women’s version. This was a real banger. Edit: I ordered a sample of Wind Wood because of @Svensei06 recommendation. Yeah, gotta admit, that is also really close to this. I think BB a little more in the opening, WW more in the mid and dry down. I think either is a solid replacement. So, thank you Sven, for the recommendation. I’ll be adding WW to the collection

Never bought anything by Ralph Lauren before - not because of snobbery (I tried many of their other offerings and apart from Safari, didn't rate any of the other very-general offerings), Romance Silver however, is the exception that proves the rule. Slightly reminiscent of Terre D'Hermes, but maybe an octave or two higher in places. I had a tester some years ago and loved it, but like many things, never got around to purchasing a bottle before it seemed to dissappear as fast as it came on sale. I found a 100ml aftershave bottle today for £35 and bought it and haven't stopped sniffing my wrist since. Bravo Mr. Lauren.

This is definitely an underrated scent. This is what a man should smell like!! Sophisticated, classy and manly. It reminds me of a handsome man strolling on the beach at night. It is not overpowering its just perfect. sensual, warm and inviting-beautiful. It reminds me of a lovely date or a romantic night in!! For the elegant, smart guy. If anyone from Ralph Lauren happens to see this. Please bring it back it was such a beauty but dnt mess with the formula. A relaunch I think!!!

From start to finish, there is an almost feminine background to this scent -- sweet smelling and very floral. Starts off with a citrusy whiff, and then the floral notes start to come in and then stay on for the duration of the scent. It eventually dries down to something moderately light. Lasts for about 4 hours on me. Not too sure about the "romantic" tag though. In my opinion this one smells too floral and feminine for a romantic occasion, unlike something like Armani Code.

A nice blend, with an almost tea-like quality. However, when the wood note becomes obvious it takes over the scent for me and beccomes quite irritating quickly. I wish there was a way to remove such notes! Don't expect a big tobacco note either. This might be a good transition scent, from "mainstream" into aficionado territory, but at this point I don't find anthing about it that is compelling.

This fragrance make me think of a peaceful walk on silver sands along the quiet ocean under the midnight moon. It's soft tones are sensuous and mysterious almost teasing. It's doesn't crave attention it draws others in. The violent is the star of the fragrance, along with the musk it really sets the romantic mood. What more can I say the entire scent says,"Love me and I will love you back."

Hi, for whoever wanna find a great substitute of RL Romance Silver, I would totally suggest the 2018 Nov new release from Rochas “Moustache EDP”, it instantly reminds me of RL romance silver and I could say it even smells similar yet better. A bit sweeter less harsh and spicy for Moustache EDP, smells less synthetic, for the lover of RL Romancr Silver, you cannot miss this one!!

Been trying to find this fragrance for a long time. It was a gift from my uncle when I was 14. I managed to finish the 100ml bottle in 6 months span :) I couldn't find any legit bottles of these so far. Though, I recently purchased Lattafa Suqraat which is a profumo twist.and the dry down literally smells like Romance Silver. It worths to give it a try honestly.

This should be unisex. I love the fresh opening. It mellow down on me wonderfully. Sweet base but never overwheming. I like it. No, I actually love it. Imagine catch a whiff of this from a cool-well dress CN guy! So clean but there is something about it make you want to run after the source of origin!!! ;)

Timeless, signature scent of my youth. Probably my first parfume in my life. Fresh, yet dry and woody smell, which stimulates your brain. I have a full original bottle willing to sell. Location: EU.

@dsyben I recommend Lacoste Pour Homme as an alternative to Romance Silver. It shares some similarities to Romance Silver, where LPH utilizes the note of rum while RS utilizes the vodka note.

i like this scent very much not a classic but none the less a class act from ralph lauren i actually got it as a gift from a relative but i liked it very much and will definitely buy again

Ralph Lauren has done it again he managed to create angel tears prices with it. your sell your arms for a bottle of this stuff now thats its been gone for 10 years now

An awesome smell, although I never smelt "original" yet cannot believe it could have been any better.

Bring this cologne back this was my all time favorite! It smelled better than Purple Label!
