Rosenrot

I'm fan of the band and couldn't resist this perfume. It fits perfectly into the Rammstein aesthetic - take something ordinary and make it weird, sick and twisted to the point it becames a new emotion evoking thing. Let's take a good cliché - female rosey perfume and rearrange it's guts so much that it gets almost unrecognisable. The rose note is still there but it's no longer pretty and girly soft. Instead in the heart of the perfume sits a new dark, cold, threatening rose, one with poisonous thorns. A whiff takes you through a thickly forged doors of a dimly lit throne room. The air inside is heavy and drenched with incense but soon you realise it's just used to set the scene for her. Soon you begin to notice something weird, is that a rose smell that's pulling you in, deeper and deeper into the room untill she reveals herself in all her beauty. She has been torn and twisted into million pieces just to be brought back stronger and dangerous. You can not only smell but almost feel the ingredients of the spells that are bind in her metal cage. And there you kneel captivated by her hypnotic beauty and paralysed by the danger seeping of her. Overall great perfume - modern deep dark version of a classic fairytale. Amazing longevity on my skin but should be used with caution - two sprays give me 10hrs+

I bought it for someone else but am seriously considering getting a bottle for myself. I am not a fan of rose based fragrances, but this one is different. There is nothing sweet, girly or romantic about this scent. The top notes are cold spicy on me, probably that's how I perceive the combination of grapefruit and metallic notes. Then come the roses, and a lot of them. But they aren't garden roses one would expect in a perfume. Not the roses to please someone. They are thorny pink wild roses often used to make hedges. On clothes, they last for ages, on the skin a little less. Then comes the most beautiful church incense. At this stage, I want to bury my nose in the scent and wrap myself in it. Unusual that the top notes, roses and incense I perceive in this strict sequence almost discretely, not smoothly passing from one to another. An unusual perfume that definitely caught my attention.

It’s definitely not a clone of Portrait of a Lady, because there is no such dry and camphor patchouli. But both are sharp and dramatic red roses with a hint of metal and incense. Rosenrot is has more metal, more raspberry and tropical fruits. I can imagine a lil bit catty black currant/passion fruit in Rosenrot, in PoaL just raspberry with a hint of undefined red berries. Both roses are velvet petaled, but Rosenrot’s are more tender with gummy bear like texture with warm black tea bitterness. Rosenrot is definitely more amber-woody scent, so if you have a macrosmia to this components I don’t recommend a blind buy. If you have anosmia to amberwoods, all you’ll get is a rose and berries, without any smoky woods and incense. Just bare rose oil/hydrolate with hit of berries. I’m in love with this one. P.S. Rosenrot Intense is absolutely different scent without berries and so on.

I'm an advocate for rose as a masculine note (or rather unisex note), and this fragrance is definitely an example of that. The rose is very clear, but definitely strong and fresh. It's not a stuffy kind of rose, but very fresh and green. If you're unsure of what a "metallic" note is, this one is definitely it! It's a very consistent smell to me: from when you spray it, to the dry down, to when it's a skin scent, the smell doesn't change. One complaint I have: my bottle came with an imperfection: one of the spikes had the tip broken and bent. Not sure if it happened in shipping but somehow I believe it happened in production. It's too bad because it's a nice and unique bottle, I would have liked for it to be impeccable.

This is amazing! Take a red rose with stem and blend it with cold metal, incense, spices, lots of sex, a drop of blood and a dash of Portrait of a Lady...and voila! Lasts all day and projects really well for hours and hours. This should cost three times as much and even then it would still be a great buy. It takes it's wearer though...not for the faint hearted and designer purists (not that there's anything wrong with that)...it's just that if you can't tame it, it can easily wear you and not the other way round.

I didn’t expect to love it this much. I think I even prefer it to Portrait of a lady. The rose in Rosenrot is much... darker? Stronger? Deeper? The base notes support the rose extremely well, to the point where the line between flower and incense/sandalwood blurs. Gives me a lot of confidence. Wearing this, I could mastermind burning somebody at the stake.

I am not a Rammstein fan but a girlfriend of mine is. She fell in love this perfume. It is so powerful and very rosy. I really like to smell it on her (all day long!!). It is way better that her previous Chloé... All the girl in germany wear it. I might buy a bottle of Rosenrot soon :)

I LOVE Rosenrot! The rose is a dark metallic rose that I love to wear on nights out. On my skin there is nothing "grandma" about this rose but thorny sharp rose prick. Very sexy!

For sure portrait of a lady but more rose dominant rather than patchouli and its edt. Absolutely worth it

I listen to the band occasionally and was honestly tickled to hear them being referred to as "House of Ram-steen" on a perfume review on YouTube. I hadn't known that they released perfumes prior to the video and immediately started reading up about the releases. As we all know, the perfumes are a little difficult to get outside of Europe but I happened to have a friend who was going on holiday there, so I had the perfume ordered to her accommodation. The difficulty was in choosing which one and I decided to play it safe (or was it?) by getting Rosenrot. "Safe" is probably not the right word to describe this perfume. Moody, mysterious and darkly magical, Rosenrot is a gothic cautionary tale. I normally shove aside rose-forward scents and keep them as room scents but I may have to make an exception for this femme fatale. The perfume opens up with a deep, dark rose. While hypnotised by the beauty of the rose, smoky tendrils begin to emanate and keep you ensnared in a cold, metallic prison. I did not get its similarities to Portrait of a Lady at the beginning but I started getting a semblance of it as it dried down - the only difference being POAL is a lot more patchouli-heavy. If you ask me, POAL is like a rich Victorian wife and Rosenrot is what you get when the said wife is widowed and is accused of plotting her husband's death to inherit his wealth. Honestly, a scent extremely befitting of the style of Rammstein's music and surprisingly wearable. Looking forward to exploring the rest of the line when I finally get to visit the Rammstein shop in Berlin in the near future!

My wife has it and everytime she wears it I'm reminded of the stem of the rose rather than the flowers. It has a deep, green, metallic rose note rather than the sweet rose you might see in something like Rose Prick for example.

Stereotypically, perfumes with rose note are considered feminine. It is also pretty common to neutralize the feminine aspect of rose note with spicy notes or woody notes or incense. However, the metallic note here not only balances the sweet jam-like rose but also adds some unique character to the rose. As the rose print on the bottle suggests, rose is no doubt dominant here, it is the main character. In the opening the rose note is green and sweet, well mixed with the metallic note, which is cold, steel-like and somehow reminds me of blood. On my skin the metallic smell comes much more to the front. Next to it I also get some dry spicy note like nutmeg in the opening. Later incense comes forward, smoky and dusty. I also get some earthy notes on my skin. Metallic rose turns into smoky rose. In the drydown the creamy sandalwood plus the smoky incense gives calming vibe. The rose note also tones down in this last stage. The jam-like sweetness is reduced. It is a quite wearable perfume, unless you are not a fan of metallic note. The performance is reasonable considering the price.

It's an odd one - the first note is blood that turns into a scent of a plant, something grassy and immediately woody; always lingering between pleasunt and unpleasunt. At all times, it feels very synthetic on me. It will go into my blood collection, but i'm not in love with it.

I have been a big fan of the band for more than 20 years now, and I also happen to be a fan of rose based scents, so this should have been my signature...and I was really looking forward for a love at first sniff or at least a memorable encounter, but unfortunately not. On me this is a strong, somewhat sour and artificial rose, like a really bad dishwashing or hand lotion. I was glad when I could finally wash it away, but it has a great projection and lasting power. The bottle is also somewhat dull for me. I will continue to love Rammstein as a band but I am very reserved whennit comes to their new fragrance releases...

Was hoping for something really dark and different but all am getting is rosewater the kind you used in middle eastern cuisine terrible I get no incense no smokey no dark notes it's very similar to zara rose gourmand nothing but rosewater

i i really like this perfume. it is close to the rose i've been looking for: eglantine or wild rose -- and this definitely is along the lines of that throughout. then there's the odd metallic note (which might actually be ambergris, come to think of it -- in any case, it's there but not overpowering) and some spices (maybe even cinnamon?) and vague woods. the sum of these parts is highly enjoyable. the best eglantine/briar rose/wild rose note is still the top-note of nagler's myrrh eglantine for hermessence -- but the myrrh just kind of ruins it for me. so at the moment i wear this instead. caveat: careful with the bottle -- that spike-choker is REALLY sharp. if your fingers slip it'll draw blood (kinda like briar rose with the spindle in the fairy tale, eh?) p.s. (in 2026: i figured out that you can actually take off that spiky collar -- et voila, no bloody fingers anymore :-D

This is a fantastic gothic rose perfume, in the same style as Portrait of a Lady, Agent Provocateur, Lady Vengeance, etc. Rather than a dupe, it's an alternative to POAL on those days when the patchouli becomes intolerable. It has a sweet incense quality about it and the rose note is less opulent, less demanding of attention than the one in Portrait of a Lady.

Been on my wishlist since FO-RE-VER! I'm starting to lose hope, with all this Rammstein drama if they disband I will actually commit a crime if I don't get to smell this.

100% dark rose. Very sharp. Very strong. Definitely not for me, I strongly dislike this scent profile. And yes, it smells niche-like.
