Monbloom

Creamy tuberose plays the lead in this white floral with jasmine, neroli, a very gentle oud and an ambery cistus drydown. Moderate sillage, moderate to good longevity. This could be worn to go to a meeting, or for a date - the tuberose here is less of an instant powerhousey screamer than many, but a few extra sprays or a layer of something leather or spicy can change the volume in a snap.

Absolutely stunning. This is a BIG white floral with amazing projection. To me, the jasmine is the standout, and a slightly smokey one at that. This is a majestic, OPULENT, seductive floral. If you want to walk around in a cloud of the most beautiful jasmine, then this is for you! I didn't think I could love a floral as much as I love this.

This opens with a creamy tuberose then an animalic Oud with spices come and they all come together beautifully, I have read some reviews that indicate reformulation,

I will preface by saying I am still testing Ramon Monegal’s MonBloom out at the time of this review and I will update later. Initial impression is that I like it. Heavily floral, but I get a little sweet and salt at the same time. At the first spray... and I am talking just one spray, I got a blast of sweet white florals or maybe Tuberose. Head on! After 15-20 minutes or so, it ventures out a tad allowing a hint of the Oud to seep through. I don’t get Neroli or heavily citrus notes either. At least that’s not what my nose picks up. Perhaps it is the mastery of Ramon Monegal. In fact, many may not relate... but, this fragrance transported me to my childhood. I was reminded eating of sweet and salt prunes as a child growing up in the Caribbean. Not sure why that memory is tied to the scent, but...it is. Others mentioned a synthetic component. I didn’t quite get that... when I sniffed it on my skin I got an ‘Ole School Vibe’. Reminiscent of fragrances from the mid to late 80’s mixed with a bit of the early 2Ks. Nothing I am put off by. I would not spray heavily...3 sprays max for professional settings. If you wear to dinner and such... you may need one more spray. I think this can be a transitional perfume worn day or night, worn almost any season too. I would hesitate to wear it in extremely hot temperatures... but if you do, exercise caution and don’t overspray. Although, I for,ou believe...wear what you want, whenever you want😎. I don’t place constraints on my fragrances anyhow. Overall ... my 1st impression is that Ramon Monegal’s MonBloom is a pretty floral that has a hint of spicy and a tad bit of powdery feel. I like and I would recommend.

Creamy tuberose and jasmine combination, with some strange note in it. At the beginnig, its quite similar to frederic malle's canal flower, but as it settles, its getting much sweeter and I think the "plastic" effect mentioned below is kind of spot on to describe this strangeness. There is also some animalic note, which i find it rather unpleasant. Performance wise, the sillage is huge and stays on the skin for very long. I take this one as a cheaper and much lower quality fm canal flower (dont know whether the perfumer intended this to be a dupe or a canal flower inspired). While the canal flower is one of the best white flower in the market (or even the best tuberose), this one is a scrubber for me. You can judge for yourself how unimpressed im with monbloom, and how poor quality it is compared to the canal flower, just like comparing a real rolex with a fake one. Its very obvious that the canal flower is much better made, with ways higher quality ingredients, plus there is no unwanted animalic smell. Given that monbloom's retail price is really high (200 dollar for a 50 ml bottle), i would suggest saving a little more and go get frederic malle canal flower.

I am trying from the new packaging. If I had known that this had strawberry in it, I would have taken a pass as I really hate that note in perfumes. Unfortunately, strawberry, along with cedar are the two strongest notes to my nose and they smell pretty bad together, like melted plastic or as someone here said, a bandaid. I get no floral notes, and no incense. All I smell is cedar and strawberry creating that weird effect. This doesn't even smell like a perfume to me. It makes me think of something you would smell during a medical procedure. The review right below mine must have tried the old formula, because what I am trying now smells nothing like what they are describing. Actually, I think this is pretty horrid and I've since returned it.

A plastic tuberose. It's like a tuberose sealed by plastic & vacuumed. I don't know wither the lapdanum is cheap or the oud is! or maybe the effect that "Ramon" wants to implant in this blend! he wrote: "Olfactory inspiration, resplendent and magic. Bewitching floral filter. Exuberant and voluptuous tuberose and jasmine with exotic Osmanthus. Magic and power dressed in incense and labdanum linked to the the incandescent strength that emanates from cedar wood. This is my festive tale of a magical celebration of a starry night in Dubai." I kind of see this but AFTER 10 minutes in, when the plastic effect fades away a bit, then the sweet tuberose blooms up as i begin to smell some sandalwood, and cedarwood beside a new kind of incense & smoke! Also the lapdanum blooms after the plastic effect vanishing & turn this blends into a dreamy tale as "Ramon" see. Very charming AFTER 10 mins in. Edit (20 mins in) When it calms down it turns into a sweet dreamy (slightly to non animalic) "Moon Bloom" by Hiram Green. Edit (20th Sept 2019) The plastic effect is quite animalic blended with milky white floral jasmine and tuberose. It is overpowered white floral with an animalic touch. It's indeed beautiful and enchanting like a fairy tale.

Monbloom smells like mildly flowery bandaids. So far, Ambra di Luna is the only Monegal fragrance I've liked, and I love that one.
