T. Habanero

T. Habanero is my fourth try from the house of Rania J, and like the others I’ve tried so far, it’s great, a spicy tobacco accompanied by a mélange that’s highlighted by black pepper, mostly, to my nose, with an ensemble involving pink pepper, cardamom, oud, incense, myrrh, and leather. I’m not sure I get too much of any of these but I can sort of see them all being involved. It’s not overtly animalic but there is a dry varnishy aspect that hints at leather and oud. Similarly, it’s not sweet, but there’s a resinous side, sort of a resinous/woody dry down that seems in line. T. Habanero is pretty serious, like Lavande 44, and feels gentlemanly though conceivably unisex, albeit more suited for the colder weather than the more year-round-friendly Lavande 44. There are an abundance of sweeter tobacco-heavy fragrances, a number of which I love, so it’s nice to have something on the spicier side. It certainly reminds me of other spicy men’s fragrances, as well, but it’s not wholly classic, as it has a modern, artistic vibe to it, though it seems to walk the line between indulgent and restrained. Like the rest of the Rania J line, T. Habanero is priced at $149 for 50ml retail and is only sold officially in the US through Luckyscent, and it performs well, slightly better than Lavande 44, I initially sought out about half of the house’s seven fragrances to try, but they’ve all been quite outstanding, so I’ll probably look to try the other three (Cuir Andalou, Jasmin Kana, Music Moschus) as well. 8 out of 10

The dry down won me over on this one, just like ambre loup did. She is quite an amazing perfumia. The opening with this was like a love hate for me, the sweetness the darkness battling it out, but mixed with my skin scent after about 30 mins I get a wonderful wonderful aroma one just has to experience. I mean looking at the notes here I was expecting something a little different but I have to say I am quite impressed with this offering and Amber loup. I have full bottles of each. The longevity on these fragrance s are like extrait status, beast mode ! I did notice after I paid $150 for a bottle at twisted Lilly I could have got it $98 at first in fragrance, so look around. She was also proud to notify me she only uses natural oud in her fragrances nothing synthetic. Beast longevity. Must try guys, must try!

This one is softer on skin than on paper. This opens similarly as Oud Assam (as others have already said), with Rania Jouaneh's signature orange-y oud, and then soften to become a powdery dry tobacco, supported by a noticeable myrrh note (here with its animalic/cola-ish facet) and a hint of honey. Performance is surprisingly a step lower than Oud Assam, and could be improved given the price point. Despite the lower-than-expected projection, it's a masterpiece imo, what TF Tobacco Oud remotely dreamt to be. It is indeed a quite bold formal fragrance, and even if leaning masculine, I find it easier to pull off by a woman than TF Tobacco Oud for example, because of the creamy sandalwood in the drydown. It targets for sure more mature crowds. Fantastic. My only regret: buying a 50ml bottle. I definitely should have gone for the 100ml one. Fall/Winter evenings, 35+

At first I was a bit divided about T. Habanero. I could not decide whether I experienced a yet unfinished experiment or a masterly crafted rugged tobacco scent. After wearing it a number of times I am now completely convinced that the latter interpretation is true for me. T. Habanero opens with a burst of a challenging oud variety spiced with pepper. Once the oud settles a bit T. Habanero evolves to the best spicy tobacco I have experienced. It's easy to recognize Rania Jouaneh's signature on this scent. In T.Habenero i find references to Oud Assam as well as Lavande 44. In the dry down T. Habanero turns resinous-woody but still with an oudy edge. To my nose T. Habanero is the masterpiece in Rania J's impressive and very artful collection.

Another worthless “this perfume reminds me of” on here This is an original creation. Very dark and dirty. You have to like the slight anamalic ouds though. This is one where the opening isn’t the easiest to jump on board with, but a magical dry down keeps you hooked. I prefer Ambre Loop from her line personally. I think that’s a better fragrance than my Amber Absolute from TF. This does have some sort of habenro vibe to it with the cardamom/pink pepper opening, but it’s mostly a tobacco/dirty oud/ leather dark type scent that plays out quite well if you like the darker fragrances . Very good use of high end raw materials from a very talented perfumer.

T. Habanero delivered what I wanted from TF Tobacco Oud, how satisfying! Sharp and smoky tobacco opening that I find very masculine. When that sharpness retracts, I get more black pepper on my skin, harmonious with smoky incense and oud, and tobacco weaving throughout. The final act is a subtle cinnamon-y oud. It flows through the phases very smoothly and makes me feel confident, grounded, then comforted. It felt perfect in the cold days we've been having, but I'm interested to see how it behaves in warm weather - could be delicious when going out on a warm summer night.

Very exotic, alluring, delicious, and luxurious steamy pile of dog shit in the opening due to the Hindi Oud being used here, supported by some fine tobacco and lots of spices. This is very sexy, with good performance and price point, not for the faint of heart. A clear step up from the TF Oud whatever specifically designed and made for the rookies. Rest assure, you'll get a taste of real Oud from this one, before you up your game and go down the rabbit hole in Bortnikoff, Areej Le Dore, Ensar, and Agar Aura.

This is pretty linear on my skin - I didn't notice much change from opening to drydown. The notes here mesh really well together. I get roughly equal parts tobacco, oud, pepper, incense, and sandlewood. None of them overpower the other, but are great in combination. I'm wearing it on a cool spring day, but really look forward to wearing in the fall and winter. A winner.

This is my second bottle from this house, the first being Oud Assam. I’m kind of blown away to be honest. There is such wonderful depth to both. This one is giving me Amouage overture vibes but a touch more subtle and smoother. I’m really looking forward to buying more from them.

This is thick, wet tobacco on a old moist and mossy treestomp somewhere in the Cuban jungle. Or... The wood floor of an old Cuban bar after its been freshly cleaned. Either way big love for me. I love both.

All I can say is, it’s a Beautiful wear from beginning to end!! I Love it!! Rania J is definitely a dope house!! Oud Assam, Cuir Andalou and that amber piece are all excellent to me!! Good Job

What an experience for the first few hours!!! Rich, deep, complex and utterly amazing oud + tobacco combination, full of spices and blasts of animalic sexiness. Loud and clear leather with a sweet, intoxicating myrrh and resins! You've got to try this for the opening at least. Purely unisex and very, very good! The heart/drydown though goes a bit downhill for me, I mostly get resins, but not the sweet kind - there is a distinct sourness on me which I'm not the greatest fan of as it seems a bit too masculine, though I do enjoy masculine scents at some times. Excellent longevity (more than 12 hours) + a decant sillage. I was impressed with Lavande 44 by Rania J (and I absolutely adore having it in my collection) and the first few hours of this trump even that.

Warm, spicy tobacco. T. Habanero (TH) is an interesting one. Tobacco & Oud dominate. Woody oud, smoky incensy myrrh, warm aromatic spices (cardamom, B&P pepper), & soft, malleable, almost-sweet tobacco. Woody, warm, spicy, tobacco, oud, incensy, liquory, ambery, & mildly-sweet. Even though it is not listed, there is a smell of liquor here, whiskey-like. Also, that oud/tobacco combination is reminiscent of Tom Ford's Tobacco Oud. It is not a clone but they both share similar characters. TH is a good take on the tobacco/oud combination. It is dark & serious, the word "gothic" comes to mind, too. This is a mature, cool weather scent, that is quite masculine. Big "Like"

Tabacco morbido, suadente, affascinante, dal cuore legnoso. Evolve aprendosi alle resine dolcemente intense di mirra e olibano. Il fumo, moderatamente speziato, (pepe, cardamomo e peperoncino habanero si distiguono chiaramente...), si diffonde quieto ma costante dal polso, fedele a se stesso. Volute a spirale di tabacco e mirra avvolgono un oud nè austero nè ruvido, ma elegantemente smoky e unisex. Un profumo che non deluderà i o le tabacco/lovers. Personalmente amo il tabacco che esalta e sposa la rosa, in Habanero il tabacco resta serenamente single.

Its a really nice fragrance with a fresh soapy start followed by a brutal sweaty dirty oud. After that the gorgeous tobacco scent. For the first try, I felt it really weak...I bought a sample, and after a few months, tried it again and surprise! Its not that weak at all! If your limit is Interlude, this is not for you. This fragrance a dissolving type, which fits to your style, gives you a very pleasant mood without the making a headache, and overpowering everything else around you. Awesome.

This is stunning! If I found a bottle at a good price I would scoop it up no questions asked! It’s medicinal, Smokey, I do perceive ambre Gris not listed but it is anchoring the scent and helping it from becoming too dry and herbaceous on me. The peppery opening is intertwined with dry tobacco leaves. Slight sweetness appears and I am in love! Some days you want to try something moving and meaningful. This has soul. I loved it! It’s not for everyone. Definitely test before you buy!

Starts of pretty stanky oudy. Definitely the animalic type most likely laoatian. yes it’s a bit poopy at first. Thankfully it smoothens out into a really nice incensey oud and realistic tobacco direction. I also get some type of powdery eucalyptus/barbershop accord start to come in deep into the drydown. It’s nice but I thought it would be a bit more interesting based off the note breakdown!

This is a little funky, but I was digging it ... until it essentially disappeared... I crave long-lasting scents that give me whiffs of heaven throughout my day, lifting my mood in the process. This just didn't have that kind of staying power on my skin.

Delightful, masculine, easy to wear. Straddles the gap between Oriental and Occidental oud fragrances. Oud, tobacco, cardamom and pink pepper are the most prominent notes to my nose. Could be worn in every season except the depths of summer.
