Myrrhe Délicieuse

Myrrh, benzoin and vanilla. On paper, it sounds as though it could easily become heavy, but this fragrance never feels weighed down. It stays dry, clear and transparent. That lightness, that airy clarity, feels very Reine de Saba to me. For a while after applying it, perhaps because of the pimento, there is a dry, warm spiciness around me. I love this part so much that I find myself reapplying it again and again. To me, this is the scent of Beppu. Not soap, and not sulphur, but the warm, mineral trace left on the skin after stepping out of a hot spring. That quiet, happy moment when you put on a yukata and begin to feel just a little sleepy. I doubt anyone else will understand this association, but still... In the drydown, a woody vanilla, somehow reminiscent of Guerlain, drifts softly in the background. Even then, the myrrh never quite loses its shape. It is still there, almost cheerfully so. Incense, the air of somewhere far away, the warmth left on the body — these things come to mind, and yet in the end it becomes strangely gentle and reassuring. It feels exotic, but never intimidating. It slips quite naturally into everyday life. A very wearable myrrh, I think.
