Patchouli Elixir

I love patchouli, so I blind bought this. And for me, it was love at sniff ..rich, intense, boozy rum/patchouli/vanilla scent that lasts and lasts. It doesn't list vanilla but I can smell vanilla..a dry, warm vanilla, nothing sweet, more mellow. I can smell woody notes in the dry down...it's an instant love for me. The patchouli scent I spent $$$ looking for, and here it is, reasonably priced and easy to find. What a win. Men can easily wear this and get compliments, as well. EDIT- I thought this perfume was easy to find but no ..this perfume can be hard to find! I had to go to a beauty outlet in Poland to find it. I'm just hoping it can be delivered. I have tried overseas before only to find out they consider perfume a hazmat sitch..🫤 they said they could ship it. I hope they're right, because can't find it available anywhere in U.S. or CA. I'm hoping it's only because of the holidays.

I am a huge patchouli lover and while I have probably close to 75 bottles of perfume in my fragrance library, Mugler Angel edP and Chanel Coromandel are both in my top 5 favs! This Patchouli Elixir reminds me of both, but the middle and dry down is very Coromandel. I have been layering Angel with this Elixir and this gives Angel its (sadly) much needed longevity boost. If you love patchouli, I mean really love patchouli...this is the fragrance for you. The first few mins are strong, but it softens and just gets better. Sillage and longevity are both quite big, and if you'd wear this to work or in a small space...you would need to apply at least an hour or two before. This was a blind buy for me, and I am 100% happy :)

I thought this was a patchouli bomb but it turned out it wasn't (at least after a 1-2 minutes). The smell is very nice. Patchouli Indonesia by The Merchant Of Venice and Kobraa by Bvlgari are the two in my collection that give much stronger patchouli experience, at least I feel like that. Oh, I forgot Seminalis by Orto Parisi, that's also a strong patchouli. Or my original tester of Patchouli Elixir is just old and something has gone out from it. It happens sometimes with testers: the smell from the bottle has nuances that are lost in testers, also strength. So at least I didn't smell the earthy chocolatey patchouli here as I did in the two mentioned above.

i have never picked/plucked patchouli from the ground , but this perfume gave me the experience that i always do this

Earthy but kinda sweet patchouli, there is vanilla in the background, but its mainly patchouli all day.

This beast reminds me a lot of Opium! Thoughts?

HOW TO RUIN A GREAT SCENT: This is a watered down version of the previous edition of Inoubliable Elixir Patchouli in the golden bottle... Scent is the same but close to the skin, projection is gone. I own both versions (full size, 100 ml, so I'm not on a first impression after one or two spray from a decant or after having a tiny drop on the wrist...). The old one is in one of my office'drawers and I applied it last friday with Ambré lumière & had a wonderful result. Today is a rainy sunday at home and the new version sprayed on my clothes has no projection at all... One more perfume out of my shopping list.... One more to mourn and avoid! When they do this I consider that the brands are cheating and stealing. They don't do their part of the deal because the product is not the same anymore. I'll only buy it again online for the half of its price, almost its true value right now. A shame! It was a so wonderful scent for fall and winter. One positive thing? They skipped "inoubliable" from the name of its new version, this means "unforgettable"... This one is totally forgettable!

First impression: I wouldn't swear but the last bottle I recently purchased with a good price has a silver (and not golden) cap, perfume is improved compared to 2-3 years ago version. Good news! A few days later, impression is confirmed and Patchouli Elixir (silver cap) is way better than the previous watered down golden cap. And the projection is confirmed by my colleagues. Not an office safe/friendly frag.

@ Zind Happy to see someone mentions the silver cap. The first reformulation was with a golden one and the perfume was much closer to the skin (2016/2017). This late version is better but can't be compared with the previous "Inoubliable", the real unforgettable warm patchouli in its golden bottle. The good deal is when you buy it online for 50% of its price tag.

Rich, almost decadent patchouli pared with cedar wood chips and and slightly powdery sandalwood. Overall is very rich and a touch boozy strangely enough. Projects very strongly, lingers in the air and around your person. Cool/cold weather only.

This is such a solid patchouli. As the previous reviewer said , you have to love patchouli to enjoy Thisbe. Rich , sweet , dark and deep . Lasts forever and ever . 2 sprays max 😌. If not you are at risk to drown. I love this one !

I was really hoping to like this one but sadly, it didn't work for me. I received a new sealed bottle with the silver cap. I have a recent formulation of the Eau de Toilette to compare it to and much prefer that over this one. I was hoping this flanker would be a smoother, more wearable experience with increased projection compared to the EDT and whilst somewhat true, it misses the mark for me. The opening is very familiar - you get a strong hit of earthy patchouli right away followed by a labdanum accord and a touch of sweetness. This is where it resembles the EDT the most. From there, the fragrance turns dusty in texture and this mixed with the labdanum / honey type accord is not pleasant. I wish I could say more about the development of this fragrance but that is all I pick up throughout it's wear. The fragrance does indeed project more than the EDT - where the EDT would project for only an hour after application, this pushes up to 3 hours. However, I feel like the projection is achieved by the use of some sort of aroma-chemical as the fragrance isn't as thick and rich in it's olfactory experience as the EDT and is instead rather fleeting. It sort of comes and goes- Iso E Super perhaps? I'm not experienced or nuanced enough to know. What I do know is this fragrance gave me a headache when applying only 4 sprays - something I never get with the EDT. In the end the booziness and gourmand touches are stripped from this fragrance- things which I felt made the EDT great. What is left is a dusty, amber patchouli rather than a rich, moist and semi-edible one. The longevity and projection are great if you are after this fragrance. It lasts all day on clothes and then some. Projection is around 3 hours before sitting close. However, your results may vary. Overall 6/10

At first the fragrance came of quite powerful, very rum like and alcoholic, but after a while it calms down a bit even tho it's still very persistent, it's just pure patchouli. It's quite strong, definitely a unisex scent, might leave other people with mixed feelings about it tho. Because when I first sprayed it on my skin it definitely gave off "older generation kind of vibe" scent, something that you might come across at your grandma's place, hidden in a box in a corner somewhere. Therefore I suggest not putting it on at the last moment give it some time to air out. But if you want to leave kind of a strange, weird and very specific impression, this might be the thing.

After wearing this several times my main impression is that Elixir is a smooth patchouli. I don't know any other way to get more accurate as of now. We all know that patchouli craves it presence, it punches you in the face and drills its way up your nostrils with intensity. Somehow though, this isn't very intense and the notes list seem lacking. The opening is patchouli like I know it, but it mellows quite quickly and it is very wearable and inoffensive for a patchouli fragrance. I actually ordered "Inoubliable Elixir", but I received this, which I gather is the reformulation. I suspect the notes listed for Inoubliable might be more correct for this one as well. This Is mainly patchouli, just to set the record straight. But I do smell labdanum and then there is some sweetness and almost incense-like in the drydown (some resin of sorts?) I received a bottle with a silver cap. My impression differs vastly from the reviewer before me as I actually do think this is a rare office friendly patch. It sits pretty close to the skin once you get past the opening and I find that I have to apply quite a lot. I do really love it though. I keep thinking I would like some more projection but remind myself of what a solid wearable patchouli this is, one that I can bathe in and still probably get away with it. Great scent now that we're getting close to zero celsius here in Norway and a new favorite for me personally.

I'm not a big patchouli fan and I'm usually blind to its nuances, but this one was so clear and honest that I paid attention. For once, a patch-dominant scenit not smelling of ancient times and thrift stores. And no obvious enhancements for the sake of complexity. It's what it is. A master blend of brownish sweetness, soothing wood and burning incense sticks. Not too light or too dark. Not niche or designer. Just the note, for your appreciation.

Damn it I just can't resist buying more perfume can I? This is gorgeous, smells niche like Jovoy Psychadelique. I got such a bargain, not sure I can use a whole bottle but I can always swap it. Beautiful resinous patch, earthy, dirty, unisex. Such a winter weather comfort scent I can not resist those. Anyway if someone is really after a bottle, I do have one in the UK I may (reluctantly) swap it for something (or decant of) off my want list.

I have been feeling all kinds of anxious and wound up this week, for all manner of reasons, but a spritz of this has me feeling calm and so much more tranquil. I can’t believe it, it’s actually made me feel quite emotional. This particular kind of patchouli must be a little bit magic. I only own a sample but am considering purchasing more!

I purchased my bottle in either 2015 or 2016. It has the silver cap and is spectacular patchouli. Very, very, earthy and woodsy. The cedar is lovely with the dry sandalwood and smokey vetiver. A little bit sweet, not overwhelmingly. Lovely patchouli scent.
