Rem Homme

I’ve been eyeing Rem OG for a long time, and I usually go for fragrances with ozonic, iodine, and marine notes, like Fiore Dell'Onda and Note di Sale. I’ve tested the original Rem several times but never had the chance to try the Homme version. Recently, I found an amazing deal: Rem Homme (2018) was on sale for just under €40, about half its retail price. I tested the flanker Rem L'Acqua, which has salty nuances and is rich in flowers, marine herbs, and musk. However, the last package of Rem Homme had an empty tester. Trusting the sales assistant’s description, I bought it blind. I imagined a deeper, darker version of Rem, with patchouli notes to give it a full-bodied feel, like the darkness of the ocean’s abyss. I was almost right—I like it a lot and am satisfied with my purchase. Rem Homme distinguishes itself from the original and L’Acqua. It opens with sour, bitter, slightly alcoholic, balsamic, and citrus accords. The lime and grapefruit peel have a resinous aftertaste, with a syrupy, inky touch, and slightly burnt liquorice or anise aroma. I assume this is the fenugreek, described as having a maple syrup-like aftertaste. The citrus creates a dark aura, like a stormy sky over the sea. Amidst this storm, the first marine, ozonic, and salty notes of calone emerge. Calone, a chemical compound with an intense “sea-breeze” note, has been used since the 1980s for its watery, fresh, ozone accords. Here it creates salty and breezy facets, with dry blond shavings and peppery nuances. After the opening phase, Rem Homme evokes the scent of sand wet by sea waves and dried by the sun, the smell of saltiness, and wood washed ashore. It reminds me of walking along deserted, wild beaches. The citrus notes give way to salty notes. Despite various marine, iodine, and ozonic notes, this perfume has an aromatic touch that stands out from typical aquatic scents. The menthol and balsamic aspect of cardamom emerges, embracing the spicier notes of pepper. A sensation of mineral and solar nuances of sand remains. The spicy aquatic accords prevail over salt or algae. On my skin, the central phase focuses on marine, salty, and balsamic accords. Patchouli leaves, resinous, and mentholated plants and berries make Rem Homme a layered perfume. Imagine the remains of Rem OG on clothes from the day before, with a spray of another aromatic and earthy perfume. This layering enriches Rem, making it more masculine. The perfume leaves a pleasant, delicate, slightly earthy, and talc trail, attracting compliments. Compared to other Rem versions, the musky side is less present, while the woody and earthy aspects are accentuated. Just like its predecessors, Rem Homme has a summery spirit. It’s more than a simple marine perfume; something like a journey across the oceans with a salty, Mediterranean breeze. It is a nonlinear fragrance that spaces from the citrusy, slightly bitter opening to the salty, marine heart, and finally to the woody, earthy base. While designed for summer, I like to wear it during August evenings and nights, ensuring continuity, with any other Rem worn during the day. Its performance is average, with both projection and longevity lasting several hours, and even more on fabrics. If you have a penchant for marine and ozonic fragrances, and you’re looking for a marine and salty perfume that’s different from the classic #Cool Water or #Aqua, then try testing Rem Homme. Blue aqua or marines scents are always a must buy for me, I like the freshness of it. This isn't aqua or marine, though, it's an oriental take on freshness. So I had to get used to this one, but now that I do, I really really like it. Got many compliments, it's special without screaming it, warm, sophisticated and different. Very good projection and sillage. It totally agrees with the nice quality bottle, different, out of the box and special without trying too much. I really like it and can recommend it totally.

This is one of the few fragrances that make me feel good. I am wearing this little gem right now and I must say that it is very special in its simplicity. Rem homme has an aromatic touch that stands out from the usual aquatic marine scents, some smoky notes can be felt in the opening. In the dry down the woods are very noticeable with a strong saline note. I am honestly very impressed with this fragrance.

This has a bit of a plastic smell, like a new airbed or new beach ball. Not very marine. I do like the saltiness, citrus and mineral combo in this.

The initial blast felt very synthetic and almost headache inducing until the dry down. After that the fragrance became quite linear but I was okay with that outcome. This is an aquatic that meshes musk and salt in a very pleasant way. For those into freshies and not actual marine smells this won’t be for you. It lasted 7-8 hours on my skin and 12 hours plus on my quick dry Tshirt.
