Rem L'Acqua

A really nice tribute to Rem. Smells very similar and the name couldn't be perfected. It smells like sea water. A little bit fresher than rem, with less florals and vanilla. Usually, when you hear the flanker name being called L'Acqua, you expect a lighter version with less lasting power and sillage. While it is less vanillic, I feel that it performs better than the current Rem EDT in both terms of sillage and longevity. Highly recommended.

I recently purchased Rem Homme (2018) on sale—€39 for the 100ml—and my appreciation for that deep marine scent that recalls amber, salty, and earthy accords has awakened the desire for something similar but lighter and suitable for hot days. Initially, I was tempted to try Rem classic, but fate wanted this flanker to be on sale too, at the same price. The idea of trying a variation on the theme intrigued me. Why not? I said to myself. And here I am, with a new piece added to the collection, of which I want to share my impressions. A quick test based on a spray of the tester gave me the impression of a less rich variant of the green, floral, and marine nuances of the algae present in the OG, and the dirty and earthy nuances of the patchouli leaves present in Homme. The DNA is the same among the three, but the result is more similar to something aquatic, citrusy, and musky. To begin with, Rem L'acqua opens with the citrusy and fresh accords of an iced lemonade. It almost feels like sipping a refreshing summer drink made of ice water, flavoured with lemon juice and slices, a little sour and a pinch of salt. It is not the classic citrus opening of colognes, but something similar to seawater with lemon peels floating in it. A sea salt nuance accompanies the bergamot that makes up this opening, which I imagine is responsible for the lemony twist. From the base, I catch a note of something burnt mixed with wax, like a candle being blown out that produces a whitish cloud of thick, waxy smoke. I want to point out that I find this wax-like accord in other perfumes of the marine families, which contain salty and amber notes. Approaching the central phase, the heart reveals a slightly floral subtlety, although the sweet and salty accord always remains in the background. As mentioned above, Rem L’acqua is less floral than the original, but still has a fairly sweetish heart, thanks to wild narcissus, which is often not mentioned among the notes. The burnt note is gone, as are all the tangy nuances, and for a few hours, the perfume remains stable on the floral nuances, a little sweet and a little salty. Its floral aspect is then combined with salicylates, molecules associated with a sunny scent like that of sea salt. The sea daffodil, not to be confused with the narcissus, brings floral and powdery tones to the whole. That wild white flower grows on beaches and coastal dunes, and it is easy to come across it here in Italy in August and September. On a windy day, you can smell it while lying on the beach. In the base, hints of modern amber, tons of musk, and woody notes remain on the skin. I must admit that white musk is dominant, from beginning to end. Although it is surrounded by citrus, floral, and salty notes, its characteristic clean, powdery, and soapy scent is recognizable. The woody notes do not weigh down the fragrance, while the amber notes help to prolong the sensation of the sea breeze. When you feel like the scent has faded, try to smell one of the application points, and you will immediately feel like you are smelling the salty skin after you have dived into the sea and dried yourself under the sun. In a very calibrated way, there is a powdery nuance that comes from a mix of coumarins and resins. In conclusion, this perfume is nicely summery, suitable for the hottest days of summer. You can spray it on your clothes before going to the beach, or for a day out for a tourist visit. Although it seems rather weak, and less powerful than the original, I think it has very good persistence and projection. Overall, the fragrance is never too overwhelming, and perceptible enough, even if the wearer might have the impression of not smelling it anymore. Yet the compliments come to me even after several hours. I expressed my feelings based on a bottle I have owned since August 2024 (BC G135, PD 05-2022).

It smells like sparkling water with a fresh slice of lime in it. A hint of sweetness and a touch of salt, but mostly just sparkling and fresh and... yeah, like water. And I mean this in the very best possible way. Imagine cold, fresh spring water on a hot summer day and how it right at that moment feels like the best thing you ever tasted. That is exactly the feeling I get from Rem l'Acqua. It really is a little masterpiece this one. Unique and different but in an understated and sofisticated kind of way. I really reccommend Rem l'Acqua for those summer days when you had enough of the jiucy tropical fuits, coconuts och sweet umbrella drinks and just want to feel refreshed, rejuvinated and alive. It feels like l'Acqua belongs in the Rem family. There is a hint of the original Rem EDT but minus the aromatic and spicy side. So if you find the original too challenging you should definitly give this one a try. Sillage is moderate and longevity is ok but then I don't mind reapplying once during the day or maybe switch to something different for the evening.

I like this one. Never tried the 90s original, but this is so fresh, like other reviewers have mentioned, it’s like pure water with a squeeze of bergamot and a pinch of salt. Narcissus is there, but very subtle. It’s a simple scent and the salt note is very delicate here. I like to layer this with my white floral or fruity scents in summer for added freshness and a marine feel. It’s perfect for that purpose. On its own I find it abit plain and light. Longevity is around 3-4 hours, but I can smell its fresh, softly-salted effect when layered with another scent for up to 6 hours. That’s perfectly fine for me, as I got it at a very affordable price. PS. I layered this with Coach Sunset Dreams and the combination smells very similar to Armani’s Ocean de Gioia (which I also own). My favorite way to wear Rem L’Acqua however, is with Gucci’s Chant for the Nymph (a pure tropical floral), absolute perfection, makes me feel like a sea siren.

Bergamot dominates the opening, the scent is juicy and watery. Woody notes are lurking underneath in a form of driftwood. Slowly salt is catching up. Musk adds finishing touches. It is a very carefree scent, fit for a teenage girl, playful and joyous. I wish I was 16 to use this during holiday. I never found a perfect summery scent when I was that age. It is not sumilar to Rem eau de parfum. The woody and salty notes build a somewhat coco-nutty scent at some point of wear. It has very good tenacity and creates my own marine breeze bubble. It is not tiring in heat.

Sparkling, the hint of bergamot gives it a clean and fresh aura, it’s a salty musk. Not a work of art, but pleasant. Rem l’Acqua doesn’t last. It becomes so quickly a barely noticeable skin scent. I sprayed three times and voilà... gone. For sure summer scents must be light and fresh, but I would like to smell something on my wrist after two hours. What a pity! I waste my money, even if I hope I will appreciate it in really hot days. It seems an airy and unconventional cologne.

What freshness, what good this beautiful rem water makes me feel. The st. Barth smells like a hot beach, this smells of salt water flavored with a very fresh bergamot that gives it freshness, liveliness, vivacity. Both are very similar, for me they vary only at first glance then in the dry down they are practically the same. They are both very evanescent, and I keep spraying them all day.
