Si Do

Absolutely love this scent. Reminds me of childhood - used to put on sunscreen at the pool that smelled a little like this (not in a bad way at all). I pick up more of the musk, iris, carrot, and vanilla on my skin. Citrus notes disappear rather quickly after applying. A very sophisticated and comforting fragrance. Makes me think of sitting in Mrs. Snow's Victorian parlor in the Disney film Pollyanna (1960) with all the prisms strung in the windows casting rainbows around the room. I would wear this day (mostly) or night in the Summer or Fall. I have a sample now and will be saving up for a bottle.

I got my hands on a bottle of this discontinued scent from Reminiscence's Les Notes Gourmandes series and was really excited to try it. Unfortunately Si Do was quite underwhelming and I understand why it didn't make the cut when the Gourmandes were rebranded from 4 'musical' names to today's Guimauve, Dragee and Heliotrope. Si Do is sweet musky violet and stays sweet musky violet even in the dry down. Another reviewer called it violet candy and I totally agree. It is almost sickeningly sweet, but not in a gourmand kind of way, it is a sweet, sweet floral with the violet being far too dominant. I'm surprised to find such a one dimensional, outdated smelling scent next to complex gems like Do Re (Heliotrope) and Mi Fa (Guimauve). I was planning to try and find Sol La, the forth one in the original, discontinued Notes Gourmandes series, but now I wonder if I would be in for another let down. Si Do and Sol La might both have been discontinued for a reason.

For me this smells so extremely wrong, I cannot understand which combination of the notes gives me this creepy, wrong feeling. So what do I feel? I feel some weird powdery sweetness together with cedar which here is too dry/cloying for me to enjoy. I believe I get some bits of ylang ylang as well as it seems a bit buttery. Anyway - a huge no for me :( I can't stand it.

This is another intriguing creation from Reminiscence, I am enjoying trying the samples!! Si Do is nicely floral, almost in a vintage way , so already no for me, it doesn't mean it isnt nicely put together, it is harmonious, pretty violet notes, some spiciness also, then the Ylang Ylang, I will say it reminds me of Annick Goutal in the overall aura of the scent, great ingredients, nicely constructed , very floral, I wouldn't wear it, but it has a certain attractiveness if you like different florals. Nothing sharp about the scent,although I wouldn't call it sweet, the warmth in the base is pleasant, and the floral notes smell very realistic. I would say this is similar to Florabotanica by Balenciaga

All I got from Si Do was violet candy. And it was not in a delicious way. It was a dissapointment that this Gourmand perfume too had a synthetic property in the inital spray! Maybe it is the musk they use but its not good. I was so excited to try this but 2 out of 4 is not bad.

In the first, it was, hmm, but wait fot 10 min. Then there was an explosion on my skin,I love this smell, but i agree, not everybody, likes it, it is the skin,what say to you, Yes or No, but i think that everybody knows that.
