Reporter for Men

This really fooled me. I first tried this and got a CK One vibe which was OK. I thought hmm - not like those notes listed at all. I sprayed it on my lower neck/chest. The silage from this, after it developed, was totally different. I got moss, civet, musky, ambergris and woody notes wafting up, it was old school but lovely. But smelled up close, I still got the citrussy CK One type note. Reporter really lasts a long time, especially with the base notes in the silage. An amazing under rated fragrance, and those base notes are just sublime. I love this.

Oh my ! I love this on my boyfriend. When I first became a member of this website, this was not listed. I requested it to be on this site so thank you thank you :) Anyway, this is so lovely, Im going to ask my bf to wear it soon so I can do a full review on it for u all This scent is a gentleman. Its sexy, alluring, yet not sharp or in your face :D if you understand what Im trying to say. Its a nice mix of undertone pachouli like pine and earthiness with a top of mandarin like scent which is the bergamot listed.

good!!!!!!simply,low cost,good quality!!! too underestimated.sillage and maddish longevity. the preceding version is a classical, but there is not in the file of fragrantica. for me a must have and signature fragrance.

enrico one of the 80 was really oleg cassini but there is here on Fragrantica. it was a bomb. this formulation is by d&g andis the best cheap !!!!!!

I have a small sample that has been around my parents house since forever - I remember it when I was a kid and liked to smell all those mini samples. It bears an embossed SP4 code on the side of the cardboard case but it doesn't result in any match on Checkfresh. I can only conclude this sample is from the original formulation, which came out in 1987, and the juice smells still ok to my nose! I have little experience in 80s cologne, but the first impression I had was that of a watered down Drakkar Noir (of which I have the present formulation, which is already watered down compared to the original), where the bitterness of the artemisia is here more prominent, making it less of a powerhouse and more wearable by today's standards. The drydown has also a distinct green forest kind of smell - it's not dark, rather quite bright - probably due to the moss (the real, pre-IFRA moss extract) and pine. Reporter feels also more soapy than Drakkar Noir - I guess this is mostly supported by the white musk, which is absent in Drakkar - and, as a results, smells a touch more floral. Still quite masculine anyway, just less projecting and aggressive, though it's still a beast compared to modern fragrances. I applied it at 10am and now, 6pm, it's still very much present on my skin and projects moderately. All in all, I have to say I like this one, by today's standards: it's green, bitter, but not aggressive or offensive; it smells clean and soapy in the drydown. It's something I would love to wear while walking in a spring pine forest during a sunny day. I have no clue what the present formulation smells like, hence I'm unable to make any comparison between the two.

The original formula of Cassini's Reporter is quite clearly one of Paco Rabanne's offspring. While there were a few Aramis imitators back in the day, Paco is the first fragrance I can think of to have spawned a variety of similar fragrances (Captain Molyneux, Mila Schon Uomo, Millionaire, et al) aside from the "Designer Impostor" types that blatantly advertise themselves as imitations of an original scent. Drakkar Noir was probably the next, and Cool Water and CK One-alikes practically defined the entire decade of the 90's. Reporter is somewhat more subdued than Paco, with more green and soft wood notes, and a less complex blend of aromatics overall. It doesn't smell like a cheap knockoff --- it's a skillful blend of similar ingredients, with smooth transitions from topnotes to base, and allowing for variations in chemistry, many folks might not notice the difference. If it were less artfully done I'd give it a Neutral, but since it's completely enjoyable I'll give it a thumbs up.

Bought it last year in Italy, Euroitalia, silver cap, yellow juice. Paid around 35 Euro. It resemble an After shave I had 30 years before, Henry M Betrix, with Red box, yellow juice and Sprayer,Perhaps because of many Citrus Notes also lemon tree and Jasmine. I found (a little) Similarity with Azzaro pour home Vintage, just in dry down . This juice with silver Cap, have no relation with paco Rabanne pour homme. Maybe vintage product had. Moderate sillage and longevity. old vibes /school. I wish I could find my Betrix after shave or Eau be Cologne.

New-to-me fragrance. While not the original made by Oleg Cassini, my bottle is the version made by Euroitalia (featured above) and it's . . . very good! My wife said she likes it. IMO, a barbershop-type scent: fresh floral/citrusy/woody fragrance with decent performance and a great value (readily available and was just $17 w/free shipping for 2.5 ounce bottle). Recommend.

I really don't understand what they have done with this fragrance,i own a bottle with a black large cap and the liquid is dark yellow,and for me is a similar scent as Kouros,very brash and masculine.On the front the name written is Reporter the first.

The bottle that I have is with a Brown roundish cap, an older version, probably from the '70's or 80's judgeing the bottle design. This one goes in all directions, it has something from the vintage Azzaro pour homme, Balafre Brun, very alike PR pour homme vintage, Jules Dior, other similarities are with Grigioperla but mere, and Henry Cottons in red. Basically, this is a fragrance that has a little shaving foam smell in it, but it has some deeper notes also and more prominently, like nuts, some woods, leaves, and other stuff. This type of bottle is quite expensive on ebay, yet if you can find a good price for it somewhere, it is worth it. It is so strong in the first hour, it is nuclear, and I don t have a spray bottle, can t drop it on me cause the bottleneck is wide and can only aply on hands and face like an aftershave...and it is so freaking strong..

Not correct bottle represented here. The “Reporter for men”, originally released as Men’s Cologne (“by Oleg Cassini”) and later as EDT (‘90es iteration, uppercase font) with black cap and square bottle plus yellow juice, it’s a masterpiece. Offspring of Kouros and Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, with the strength and animalic vapours from the first and some greens from the second. Lasted ages, pure testosterone. Apparently it is still in production (Euroitalia), same manufacturer of Versace. In the same class of Baglietto eau de Toilette, and apparently with majestic resemblance of Jules Dior.

To anyone who may be buying this based on it's listed release year being 1978, BE WARNED. This is NOT the same Reporter For Men fragrance released under the house of Oleg Cassini. While, admittedly, I have not ever had the chance to smell the Oleg Cassini original I find it very VERY hard to believe that it smelled this close to CK One or perhaps Azzaro Chrome. That said, it's certainly not a bad fragrance. If you're looking for something with a mid 90's fresh, clean, unisex vibe this fits the bill perfectly.

I have the new version by Euro Italia. I believe mine is pre-2005 as there is only a very simple short ingredients list on the back in the UK. I picked this up for less than £10 and at this price point I have to say it is simply amazing. I am a lover of the original Paco Rabanne earliest versions. This does share a similar via although less herbal and dense with less honey although it is wonderfully natural smelling for the price point And dries down to a beautiful clean barbershop soapy dry down

Absolute banger for the £, 78% volume in the two boxes that I bought and they are pre-IFRA with the Short ingredients list . Such a great Office/daytime/gym non-offensive natural smelling Freshie . Nice clean musks and notes transition beautifully

Over the weekend, I saw this in a perfume store and got to try some of it. It smelled different initially, but when it dried down, it became something familiar to me: Azzaro Chrome.

Imaging mixing 80% ck one and 20% ck be. If it were not that it was done nearly 20 years before ck's frags came out...

In the early 80 was my firs parfume when i was very young! Awsome fragrance!
