Revolutionary Noir

perfect for office, not too sweet and kinda seductive; reminds me of warm breakfast and coffee served in bed. i never paid much attention to it until a friend of mine started talking about how she loves it. i respect everyone’s signature scents, so i probably won’t be buying it, but if you’re interested in it and you like the smell of coffee itself, then it would surely be a safe blind buy for you. it has hints of vanilla too, but not as noticeable (at least on my skin). It is also a little powdery on my skin, which reminds me of black opium. I don’t remember what the sillage and longevity was, but the moment i sprayed my wrist at the store, everyone started searching for where that smell is coming from. It’s edt, so my expectations aren’t that high for the longevity, but a fragrance smelling that good and being that cheap is worth reapplying it throughout the day. Btw i think the bottle was 100 ml, which makes everything even more perfect.

I'm surprised this isn't more popular. As others have said this is a Black Opium dupe, no doubt!. My friend actually thought I was wearing my Black Opium, She has now also purchased this. Black Opium is in top 5 of fragance's for me. To me this is slightly sweeter than the original, I get more of that vanilla coming through but still without losing the dark sexy scent. Unlike Black Opium this doesn't last long on my skin but lasts on my clothes well. Its cheap enough & I don't mind spraying more. I always have the 10ml purse size in my bag. If you enjoy Black Opium but don't want to pay a high price this will not disappoint you

I like it! And am currently gunning for the lotion set. Revolution Beauty unfortunately upped the prices of their perfumes, but if you are in the look out for the duo's for 16 bucks (Revolutionary + Revolutionary Noir f.e.) or the 3 for 2 you can make a good score. The lotion set is now just under a tenner for both 100ml and the tube. Good deal, especially since this is one of my favourites - not of my 130+ bottle collection (sigh, I need to be banned! But I have a Middle Eastern fragrance addiction). Revolution Beauty went the dupe route as they so often do - kinda sad because a lot of times their own products are really good and I'm sure they could do similar things on the perfume front, knowing so well what people like. Anyway, the Noir sister of the Revolutionary perfumes is supposed to be a dupe for Black Opium. I didn't know that when buying it the 1st time (when they'd just launched and no YouTube or written reviews had been posted yet) and to be honest I only had an "Hmmm, it reminds me of something, but can't put my finger on it" response. I think BO lovers & likers will vibe with this perfume, but it isn't a spot on dupe imho. Not on my skin at least. I get zero coffee, but I do get that raw spicy edge on top of the sweetness and that's really nice. I would qualify it as a spicy vanilla where the spice almost has a peppery quality. It is certainly a warm fragrance, therefore making Revolution 's claim it is a sensual scent for the evenings not a weird one. I personally wouldn't relegate it to just the evening, but I'm one of those people who can and will and likes to wear heavier perfumes on a daily basis - with the word daily doing double duty. Performance wise most of their perfumes are on an EdT level. Decent, but disappointing if you were expecting to last a full work/school day. That's the same for RN, making it one of those fragrances that's nice to have if you're building a collection, but that won't be the bottle you'll be rescuing from a burning house (looking at you Libre and Modest Deux). Then again, for these prices, even the extra 2 euro they added, you truly can't complain. Just get a cheap Travalo and respray when going to the bathroom after 3hrs. Their travel sizes are actually perfect for that too, since they're true sprays with a good atomiser and come in sturdy glass bottles with a good cap. To me it's a great "Oh darn, forgot to put on a nice scent... let's grab the Revolutionary Noir! Although picking it with care definitely has happened, even during the summer. " While it IS a sexier fragrance and còuld do duty as a date scent for many who usually go for lighter, sweeter, more innocent perfumes, especially if your skin makes the coffee come out, it'll probably more of a daily grab & go if you're used to wearing the real Black Opium and stuff like it. In both cases it'll scratch an itch ;). All in all, Revolutionary Noir is worth its money, full price too. With the lotion being available now, projection and longevity could be improved, making it a fragrance I'll reach for more often. While the majority will wear it in the evening and in colder months I have zero qualms to put it on my "yearround shelf". With its vanilla base but limited strength it is - to me - ideal for most weather and occasions. Remarkable it is not. But attractive enough to keep her around? Sure!

at first i didn't really notice the coffee not but after a few wears it pops up! in the same family as black opium, like a younger half-sister - its not as complicated as black opium but honestly i prefer that. i'm quite sure there are more notes than what's listed here, it opens slightly green/fresh with some sort of jasminey floral note, a spicy pink pepper, then it quickly settles into that bitter coffee bean note with slight undertones of vanilla. i'm convinced there's a patchouli note as well or i might just be imagining that because it's super similar to black opium... unfortunately it doesn't last, i mean it is an eau de toilette after all!! i'm not sure if i love it but i do think i like it a lot - i can't stop smelling it! it really pairs well with britney spears' private show. it becomes sweeter as it dries down, it's a sexy musky sweet rather than an edible sweet - i reckon it would be fab for a date night! for the price it's quite nice - if you're thinking of buying black opium, maybe try this out first and see how you like it

Edit 18 May 2026: At first this smelt like Hypnose, but it changed a lot and now smells like something from the Black Opium family, but less cloying. I don't really like Vlack Opium because it smells very heavy and sweet to me. I actually like Revolutionary Noir better. It doesn't really last, as several people have said, but if I douce myself in it, it does, and it has some kind of really pleasant woody note - a bit like ebony. Weakness apart, this smells way more expensive than it is. To me, this doesn't smell like Lancôme Opium, but rather an improved version og Lancôme Hypnose, with less of that super cloying sweetness, and more coffee. It has an absolutely gorgeous chocolate dry-down!

It's a warm spicy vanilla fragrance. I bought it for the coffee note, but sadly I don't get any of it in here. It really reminds me of Black Opium and I didn't get any coffee in that one either. It smells sweeter on the skin, but it's not candy sweet though, it's a bit more mature. On clothing it gets a bit bitter for some reason, maybe it has something to do with the "missing" coffee note..? Longetivity and projection aren't great, it performs like a body mist, being mostly a skin scent on me after it dries. But considering the price and the scent, I think I'm going to keep this one as my "Black Opium body mist".

I wouldn't call it a Black Opium dupe (and I used to wear BO a lot in the past), definitely a simpler fragrance, but a similar scent profile. That said, the fact it's simpler somehow makes it more classy, less clubbing-oriented than BO. Unfortunately, it lasts about an hour on my skin and the overall experience is 'too forgettable to repurchase'. However, if you're a BO girl, this one is worth having to slightly evade BO popularity and also save some money.

This is a spicy/sweet perfume. It is a bit strong/bitter when you first spray it. However after the dry down, the true sweetness comes out. It's a very warm vanilla scent, but not bakery sweet. It's more mature. I found it got sweeter over time. One night, I had worn it for about 2 hrs and randomly started smelling something so damn sweet. Then I realized it was the perfume lol definitely a scent I'd wear for a night out/club.

got it for the coffee reviews but i don't really get it... maybe more of a bitter, musky,, treacle cake like smell. it's ok! bit mature, dessert-y and too sweet for me but... it settles nicely :)

This is a tween sister of Black Opium YSL. Less intense. Poor silage and longevity on my skin. For the price I paid is a good substitute for BO YSL.

Smells like Black Opium. Not bad for the price. I don't recommend it though because 6-10 sprays doesn't even last an hour.

this is a “my skin but better”, warm cosy vanilla coffee scent. it’s very unique, nothing i’ve smelled smells like this.

Yep, it's a Black Opium dupe. I kind of wish it was more open about that, though, since the notes description might confuse people into thinking this is a gourmand scent, with just coffee and vanilla. Nope, this is way more mature and complex. I forgot what Black Opium was like at all, so I can't describe this scent in terms of likeness to the original. However, if I'm just going to describe this as it is - at first, it's going to hit you with strong pink pepper and jasmine - but just as quickly they will disappear, leaving only hints of sharpness, green and floral. Then it mellowed out into very dry vanilla bean and bitter/sour coffee notes, along with what I assume is the orange blossom. There's some woodiness and spiciness that makes the whole thing feel very mature, so this is definitely not a scent for somebody who's not in their 20s at the very least. When the scent settled on my skin, it became very sweet - but also almost unnoticeable, since the longevity of this is clearly not the best. I searched the notes for the original, and I think this is most likely the licorice and bitter almond. I'm surprised they picked this as one of their scents that are supposed to be for everyday use, since Black Opium is definitely not blind-buy safe. I think I will be able to find a way to incorporate this into my wearables, but the average college girl shopping on Revolution for affordable makeup (and now even perfume) may not!

I have Black Opium and this and to me it smells exactly the same, perhaps more alcohol-y. I'm not sure what exactly in both of these gives me a very sharp, stinging, headache inducing scent. It's a love hate relationship xD I would say the coffee is BO is more noticeable than in this one
