Soleil d'Or

Aquatic and woody: 2 things I would generally associate with more masculine fragrances. However, since this is said to be more feminine to unisex, I gave it a try. The opening is overpowering, admittedly. It's heavy on the citrus. Cleaning product. Wet wipes. At best a citronella candle. Not as much pear as I hoped to find on my first impression. However, once it settles, it's gorgeous. It's ozonic. It smells like summer. Sunshine and beaches and it's warm but there's a cool breeze. It's not like Brighton (UK). More like Cannes (France). It's summery and elegant. It keeps its cool despite the heat. It's fresh and it brings me in a more positive mood. Yes, it is a woody fragrance. But it's framed by enough floral sweetness to overcome my masculine associations. And yet, the sweetness isn't powerful enough to make it exclusively feminine. Rituals' Soleil d'Or treads a fine line and does it wonderfully. I personally believe this to be Rituals' best fragrance. The longivity is pretty good. Unfortunately the projection isn't fantastic. Was it a safe blind buy? Maybe. It's a cheapie so that lowers the threshold. But the first notes might put you off completely. Give it a longer try on a hot summer's day. Would I buy this again? Full disclosure: I rarely buy fragrances again. And as a girlie who mostly enjoys jasmine, pear and green tea scents, I can't believe I say this but: yes, think I would buy this again, actually. It's that good.

The soapiest soap to ever soap!!! (complimentary) No but, genuinely, this is one of the best soapy/fresh linen perfumes I have ever smelled - it's clean and pleasantly musky, it's quite soft and cozy (yet not monotone thanks to the subtle woodsy notes), and it has this perfectly balanced sweetness that peeks through the fresh, aquatic notes... This might be the best shower+lotion+fresh laundry type of scent, it's so nicely blended it's insane! It feels so clean and fresh, yet also very comforting and hug-like at the same time. Honestly, it's amazing!!! The first few minutes after spraying can smell a bit sharp though, but worry not, it will mellow out soon enough! (I just wish it lasted longer, but with such a gentle fragrance it's not really surprising that it's not super strong performance wise)

This is an underrated scent among those with aquatic profiles. Is it groundbreaking? No. Is it super long lasting and seductive? Also no. This is a delicate beauty of a lotus flower with zesty freshness of bergamot and clean musk. This smells like having a pique-nique by the lake full of beautiful and fresh water flowers on a pleasant sunny day, and then suddenly soft rain starts falling, so that the watery and aquatic floral scent intensifies. I got 15ml out of rituals summer advent calendar and it made me buy 50ml bottle right after there was a promotion in Douglas. Just because it has a strong potential to become my summer signature scent!

honestly, my favourite perfume of all times! it’s absolutely divine, brings me very clean and “beachy” vibes - ideal for a hot day outside because the smell literally cools you down with its freshness. i can’t recommend it enough for people who want to be able to enjoy their own perfume throughout the day. no more asking yourself - “why can’t i smell my perfume anymore, i sprayed it on 2 hours ago?” the scent will linger and you’ll feel confident wearing it. Rituals have outdone themselves with Soleil d’Or, it’s their best one!

I love this scent, although wears like an eau de toilette, not long lasting or powerful. As someone who is especially into aquatic, floral fragrances (or anything with the word beach in) it's lovely when on the skin. The woody base notes are majorly over-ridden by the citrus and floral, but grounds the perfume so it's not too juvenile. But at the same price as beach walk and other stronger perfumes, I would recommend as a subtle, fresh scent with little to no sillage.
