Legacy 1912 Titanic

I have always been fascinated with the Titanic and the luxuriousness and romanticism of the Edwardian era. I remember seeing the case of perfumes that were brought up from the wreck at a Titanic exhibit in several years ago, and while the perfume oils were of course a little bit on the funky side (as would be expected after one hundred years on the ocean floor) the scents could be identified as floral, ambery etc. When I found out this perfume was coming out I knew that I was going to order it. I am glad I did and that I am not disappointed with the fragrance despite all of my excitement. The fragrance is very floral with rose, violet and amber being the most prominant notes throughout the fragrance. The first spritz is sharper than the heart and drydown which is powdery and almost creamy (the orange blossom really softens the fragrance and makes it powdery and delicate as opposed to an abstract, heavy floral). The lemon is present in the top but goes away very quickly on my skin which I am fine with as I feel the opening is very sharp and perfumey. I love the powdery heart and the dry down is very soft, warm amber. Just a trace detecttable on the skin. This fragrance lasts for a very long time, at least five hours from the top to the base. The bottle is absolutely stunning the outer design taking from the wrought iron designs on some of the Titanic's stain glass windows. It is a vintagey fragrance, very quintessentially feminine. It's unapologetically feminine and very demure. It's not particularly complex but it's very beautiful and luxurious. Very lady-like with a certain regal elegance.

One of the nicest florals period. Very strong sillage n longevity! Very nice n similar to Body Burberry n Kimora Goddess which i love n we all know she is one rich B! So that's what it smells like, money! Love it! Also like a cross between Bvlgari Rose & Femme but way stronger. Between YSL Paris n Bijan Style. This is a powerhouse n lasts hours on even my skin! Days on clothes. Great if ur into florals n roses n feeling like a pampered lady should! PN: Woke up this morning n i can still smell it! Walked by the room i sprayed it in n the room still smelled of it! Good n powerful stuff!

This is a very pretty sweet white floral that definitely has LOTV in it though not listed as a note. This is NOT a rose fragrance in the least. It is not woody nor musky. This is all about lily of the valley and orange blossom. It lasts about as long as a fly having sex.

Massively disappointed in this one. How anyone would interpret this as anything remotely resembling anything from 1912 is beyond me. The whole Titanic legend is nothing but a marketing ploy trying to "upscale" a very common modern theme. A theme used in perfume for the cheap mass market. In my opinion, avoid.

A TITANIC FANTASY PERFUME NOT AS AUTHENTIC TO 1912 AS QUELQUES FLEURS This was a very expensive fragrance if you purchased it directly from the website around 2012 during the 100th Anniversary of the RMS Titanic disaster. Now it sells for a low price (20 something dollars) on ebay but don't bother. They are old, damaged and not worth it. The 2012 version was good but not great. It's strictly a green-floral fragrance. It can also feel like a modern fruity-floral which to me cannot possibly come out of 1912. In 1912 Houbigant's Quelques Fleurs was made of the actual notes and accords available at the time, namely green notes, flowers, woods and civet. This one has very little aldehydes and opens up with a tart lemon. Then you can detect a strong old fashioned garden hyacinth, a faint scent of pink roses, warm orange blossom and tame violet. These flowers are real but rather dull. I just can't get over the lemon opening. It's way too strong and it takes over the fragrance. It also wears like a man's cologne. The strongest floral note is the hyacinth and the orange blossom. I wish this was more of either a violet or rose perfume. I love hyacinth but this was badly combined with lemon. It doesn't take me aboard the Titanic where women's perfumes were floral. If you want to get a true feel for what women of the turn of the century Edwardian era wore, look for vintage old bottles of Jicky by Guerlain La Rose Jacqueminot by Coty and Houbigant Quelques Fleurs. La Rose Jacqueminot really took me to the 1912 period and it smells just like an old fashioned English rose worn by suffragettes and ladies of leisure that would have been aboard the Titanic. Quelques Fleurs continues to sell and its the only truly successful floral fragrance to come out of this period. Quelques Fleurs is a masterpiece compared to this ghastly disastrous attempt to recreate an Edwardian perfume. Do not buy this. It's been discotinued and the ones selling right now are terrible.

I'm sorry, but this perfume cannot have been composed by Mr. Adolphe Saalfeld, because in 1912 there was no IFRA (Founded in 1973), and all perfumes had a lot of raw materials that are now prohibited in the case of Nitro Musks, or severely limited like Styrax, Balm from Peru, Oakmoss, Hydroxycitronellal, Rose and Jasmine essential oil, as well as Amber gris, Civette, Musk, Castoreum, today prohibited or reserved for small niche brands or artisan perfumers.. Therefore, any perfume of 2012 is a fantasy recreation without any connection with the perfumes of the beginning of the 20th century. Also, many of the essences obtained from jasmine and rose, tuberose, etc., were at that time obtained by "enfleurage", and today they are obtained by distillation, by extraction with volatile solvents or are simply synthetic reconstitutions. In fact, any perfume sold from that time is reformulated with products available today, due to the prohibition of some original raw materials or even because they are no longer produced. I'm sorry to disappoint some people, but it's a fact.

im wearing this today so i had to write a review :) i love this perfume......its a beautiful soft floral.....i think all the notes blend really well together or at least on me they do.........i just cant stop sniffing my arm lol i also love the story behind it.....as mentioned earlier but i'll mention it again lol the story is this man aldolphe created this perfume with a dream to sell it here in the states - he was on his way & well u know what happens from there......disaster hit.......unfortunately his dream never happened but during recovery many years later they found his samples & voila the samples were re-created & finally a part of his dream came to life :) his perfume was able to be sold for the titanic anniversary :) i love that i am able to wear something that was created by a man who had dreams of selling his perfume to the world........i hope he knows (from above) that he did a beautiful job...........i love his romantic dreamy scent :)

I would love to know what company produced this mini gem. I remembered seeing this advertised on one of the shopping networks when it first came out in 2012 and even though I wasn't tempted to purchase it, the history did intrigue me. So when I ran across it on Ebay for about 75% off with free shipping I ordered it. It turned out to be a fresh, sunny, fragrance that opened with soft lemon and rose on me. The orange blossom appears in dry down and, if I breathe deeply, I can detect a bit of violet. Wish there was a bit more violet and a tad less lemon but it's altogether a pleasant, well bred (for 1912 :) fragrance. A gentle rose seems to be it's theme. I love the simplicity of it. The longevity is very good and I can't see where it would offend a soul so it's a good office fragrance too.

This perfume is like buying a piece of history. The inspiration for this perfume came from actual samples recovered from the Titanic. The perfumer Adolphee Saalfeld was a passenger in the Titanic and had to leave behind his case with samples and all his notes. This perfume pays tribute to the Titanic and to Mr. Saalfeld. Apparently, this can be pre-ordered from QVC.

I got this for next to nothing,so really I wasn't expecting much. Boy was I wrong. Its nothing new but definitely gorgeous. Very feminine..rosey yet clean. Its pretty and demure. So if you like soft fragrances give this a try.ohh and the longevity isn't so great (3hrs on me) but for the price who cares.

I'm a sucker for beautiful flacons... I HAVE to try this one. The notes are promising, I must say, but the bottle has already intrigued me ;O) Art deco inspired with gold and the old-fashioned look, square and not too many details except for the label. Ilove it - in advance.

@ ojosverdes-I'm a huge Titanic buff and was so excited to see this:how amazing the story behind it huh?It says so much that those samples survived without turning;too bad modern perfumes don't fare as well.Definitely getting this-love everything about it.

I can't see the reason of all this plot: the market is overcrowded by old fragrance re-invented for today buyers. I think it is another marketing operation directed to disasters, hurricanes and sinking boats fans.

the above mentions it was launched in 1912 yet its due to be launched in july 2012 by all other accounts??

Where can one actually find this? Has it been discontinued?
